Me and my wife visited Chicago for the weekend to just get away. We decided to give this tour a try the night we showed up. Adam was our guide for the night. He was hilarious, very knowledgeable, and just perfect. I would highly recommend this group tour to anyone visiting. You are walking for a good hour and 45 minutes, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. But time flew by honestly. All in all it was great and worth the time. 2 thumbs up
Caleb was a great guide and did a good job at overcoming the noise of the city which was quite loud at times. Information provided along the tour was informative and entertaining. I only leave 1 star off for lack of mentioning the tour is not ADA friendly. The tour goes down and up stairs that lacked ramp access. This would have been worth mentioning to somebody with a walker before heading out.
Definitely book it if you’re at all interested. I got confirmation emails, and the day of, text messages verifying attire and meet up locations. Our tour guide, Adam, was terrific! Absolutely loved his sense of humor! He was a great guide, who was super knowledgeable! Chicago being Chicago- there was an unstable, homeless male who was very aggressive with our group trying to get money from us- and Adam shut him down. The man then because very aggressive and fixated on Adam- and he did a TREMENDOUS job on remaining calm and keeping us all safe!!! Adam speaks in such a theatrical way- I was literally hanging on every word he said! Throughly enjoyed the tour, and our guide!
Our tour guide was amazing. She answered all my were questions. We felt like we have known her forever. She even told us about when she lived in New Orleans. I recommend this tour its amazing so much history and stories. And she was really good at taking pictures. Cant wait to go back to Chicago Definitely doing this tour again
Absolutely worth every penny. I loved how our tour guide, Conner, was literally the best story teller with his incredible quirkiness. It was a fantastic time, coming from a traveler it is definitely worth the experience. Thanks again Conner, you were amazing. Stay Spooky and stay Gangster my Chicago travelers!
I loved the Gangsters & Ghost tour! Stephan was our tour guide and he was very nice, had us laughing and had detailed info about the places he showed us. Definitely worth it; we were on vacation, just looking for something to do that night and I’m glad we came across this tour! I would definitely go on this tour again! Stay spooky!!
My friend and I flew to Chicago for a hangout and discovery of the city. One of the tours we decided on fairly quickly was this Gangsters and Ghost Tours. Our tour guide was Olivia. She was knowledgeable in both the Chicago Gangsters and Ghosts for the areas we walked. She answered questions and gave recommendations on bars to go to after the tour.It was 1.5 hours and about 1.5 mile walk, so make sure to wear comfy shoes and bring a jacket. It was so much fun!During the pandemic, this is a must. It was all outside. We did the nighttime tour which added to the fun of the spooky month of October.
They closed due to Covid 19. Had fun on this tour in 2009. Dont know if they are coming back.
My husband and I had a great time on the tour! Caleb was very lively and made the walking tour interesting and fun! We felt like we got GREAT info, walked a significant amount and learned a lot. I would for sure recommend this tour and Caleb to anyone coming to Chicago!
The tours content is very necessary to understand the citys history in full. I was amazed at how much I learned or never knew or had forgotten about this. The tour guide was wonderful and exciting. She took time to really explain. She didnt sound like a robot. It was nice because this had been the first time I was downtown in 5 months, all things considered, so it was a calm thing to do. Also very physically energizing in the walking.I would highly recommend some takeaways or branded products for participants. A pamphlet, flyer or creative map with info at the marked spots we visited would have sufficed. I was with teens who may have followed along or retained info much better with something tangible and visual in hand. But for that, I would have certainly rated 5 stars. However, it was a lot of info to digest. If all this time has put into the research, landmark and point plannings, people are going to want to talk about it in detail afterward or have memorabilia from it beyond pictures they take.
Conor is very knowledgeable and gave an excellent tour! I highly recommend this, definitely worth it! Im still mind blown about all the facts he gave us! Would definitely recommend if youre in the city.
Wonderful your that provides you with some insight into the citys past and lets you hear information youd otherwise not know about! Definitely worth it! My only recommendation would be to equip the guides with portable mic packs and speakers; its just hard to hear against traffic and other misc noises.
This tour was really outstanding, lots of fascinating Chicago history (lots of mob history, and some other stuff as well), trips to some interesting creepy locations I wouldn’t have otherwise known about or visited, and overall a really fun, funny and informative experience. Our guide Stefan was equally knowledgeable and goofy, we chatted with him afterwards and he shared some VERY creepy photos some other tourists grabbed, so be sure to ask him about that.Took off one star only because there’s not a *TON* of haunted stuff, mostly history stuff which is great but I would have liked a little more paranormal accounts. Not that I’m a believer necessarily, but it can add a nice spooky touch.
The tour was great and our guide Caleb was very nice. He answered all our questions. The customer engagement was top notch. I’ll always recommend Ghosts and Gangsters!
Loved it!! Our tour guy (Caleb) was super knowledgeable on various interesting historic facts about the city and a great storyteller too! I definitely felt myself transported to the past, now I won’t be able to walk through downtown chicago the same again lol
Fantastic walking tour that covered a lot of the city and its rich history of gangsters and ghosts! I have gone on several ghost and/or gangster tours in Chicago over the years and I still learned some new stories and our guide Stefan was fun, knowledgeable, and really friendly! Definitely would go again!
I bought this tour as a bday gift for my boyfriend and he loved it! Caleb was super informative about the places we visited. He even had random facts about certain things in the city throughout the tour. Super cool!
Stefan the tour guide did a superb job, very pleased with the tour! He was very informative, good sense of humor, and all the facts and history stuff he taught was very interesting. Highly recommended! Tour took 1hr40 min. Worth it!
A must do!! Great stories and tales of Chicagos history. Stefan did an amazing job and took good care of us. I learned a ton and had some laughs. Great job!
Stefan was a great guide! We learned so much and laughed along the way. Able to maintain social distancing and felt safe attending. Highly recommend this tour!
Tour was extremely interesting and easy to walk. Stefan, our tour guide, did an amazing job! Would definitely do again and recommend to all.
Really enjoyed the tour! Dylan was our guide and he did a great job explaining everything and added in humor which was very entertaining. Id recommend this for anyone looking to explore Chicago and its history! Thanks again Dylan! The jokes continue to haunt me..get it?
Great your! A lot of interesting info and super entertaining, highly recommend it do in it by night, seems more mysterious. Stefan is a great host and very professional
Booked a tour for two people (03/02/2020) and then COVID-19 happened. FIRST - I never even received a second email detailing out the tour but I assumed that I would get one closer to my tour date. Then the world was shuttered due to the pandemic. I emailed the company asking for a refund due to the pandemic. I even included the original email showing my receipt so they would have all info and would know that I actually booked a tour and paid. NEVER heard back from them, still to this day have NEVER heard ONE word from this company. Totally unprofessional. I dont know how they have such wonderful reviews.
We had a great time. Our guide Adam was very knowledgeable. The relaxed atmosphere made us feel comfortable and added to the experience. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the city.
Stefan was an amazing tour guide. We loved this and had a blast. Looking forward to booking again with my daughters later this year. Truly amazing experience!!!
Dillon was awesome. We went with a group of 6 and two people in our party are older so I was a little worried about the walking, but he kept a pace that was easy for them to sustain. Packed with information and corny dad jokes lol. Overall awesome experience. Will recommend and do this again.
Connor was amazing. Learned so much about Chicago and the impact it had in America. If you want to learn about the bit so heard details of Chicago I definitely recommend this tour. Connor was derailed and encapsulating in his story telling and his facts about the city. Is highly by recommend this tour to any some good to Chicago, whether first timers or repeat visitors. My group of 9 and a few others enjoyed it throughly
My family and I had a phenomenal time on our tour with Lauren! It was just us and her on the evening tour on a rainy/foggy Sunday night. Lauren was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. She did not skimp on the tour at all, even though the weather was questionable and it was a tiny group. We learned so much and had a top-notch time. Thank you so much, Lauren. Great tour!
We had a wonderful time on this tour, hosted by our guide, Dylan! He is a great story teller with a lot of energy and passion. Because of his familiarity with the city, he was able to answer other, ancillary questions that were posed along the way. Id definitely recommend this tour to those who are looking to see some areas that are off the beaten path of normally visited areas of Chicago as well as if youre interested in learning about Chicagos history. I can certainly say I learned something new from taking this tour.
Tour was great. The tour guide was professional and knowledgable. The stories and history was very interesting. I would highly recommend while visiting Chicago.
Wow this was such a fun tour! A must do when in Chicago. It was super interesting and super exciting to learn about. Plus our guide Lauren was great. Thanks a ton!
Our guide ADAM was excellent!. He was a great storyteller and was hilarious with his side jokes. We learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed our tour!
I went on a Friday night walking tour with a group of about 15. The attendees wore masks and were COVID friendly. Our tour guide Stephan was knowledgeable and funny. Youll learn about famous tragedies/disasters, gangster activity, haunted spaces, and more in Chicagos history. My only regret is we couldnt enter the Palmer Hotel.
Dylan was our tour guide. He did a fabulous job! He was funny and very informative! He called us to give us directions on how to find the meeting place which was really helpful! The tour itself was very interesting, we learned at lot of new information. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone. Yes it is a long walk but the stops you take as you listen the stories, breaks up the walk and youd never guess you had been walking for two hours.
This tour was very interesting and fun at the same time! Our tour guide, Stefan, was absolutely amazing and kept us captivated with his ghost and gangster stories!
Adam was our tour guide for the Gangsters and Ghosts tour. He was funny and seemed very passionate about the history of Chicago! 10/10.
Our tour guide, Adam, was lively, entertaining and knowledgeable. We picked this tour to celebrate our anniversary and were extremely satisfied. Thank you Adam for making our day wonderful.
We have had a great time with Lauren. She has an incredible knowledge of Chicago history and perfectly know how to transmit it, create the atmosphere and make the gangsters alive. We highly recommend this tour! Thank you Lauren
Dillon was quite the host ;lots of jokes lots of irony to keep you on your toes. How he can remember all that history and dates is beyond me. I learned a lot & gave my grandson and I a lot to talk about. Even though it was his third tour of the day he acted fresh and happy to be guarding our tour.I highly recommend it.
My family and I enjoyed ourselves greatly on this tour! Dylan was wonderful, and knowledgeable about the cities history and architecture. I highly recommend! Thanks for such a nice evening!
This two-hour tour is an excellent way to see the loop and learn some history about Chicago. Definitely take the night tours if possible - it adds to the atmosphere. Our tour guide Stefan was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the landmarks as well as general Chicago history. Overall was a great experience. Do note, the tour ends about a mile and a half south of the starting point. So be ready to walk a bit to get back or hail a cab.
We really enjoyed the tour! Our guide Dylan was super knowledgeable and funny, and he did a good job of keeping us on schedule and together as a group as we walked around. We did the tour at night from 8pm - 10pm and had a great time.
A lot of walking, you will need comfy shoes and an umbrella just in case it rains
Our tour guide Lauren was amazing! She threw in some fun facts about the city, gave recommendations for restaurants, and answered any questions we had. Even during COVID-19 times she made the tour fun and made sure everyone was safe, highly recommend!
Lauren was a fantastic tour guide! We had a lovely time!
Excellent Tour!Learned a lot about the history of Chicago and got the chance to be shown around the city. Dylan is an excellent tour guide and was very informative about the history of Chicago while being entertaining along the way. Would recommend the tour to everyone especially any history fans out there.
Great tour! Had a very limited amount of time, but wanted to see some of downtown. This tour was perfect. Lots of history with interesting and colorful details. Lauren was my guide and she was so funny and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the city in the slightest. Great value!
Honestly this was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Dylan had a lot of interesting facts about the city and kept things very interesting. I would definitly recommend this tour, especially with Dylan as your guide!
Very interesting tour, great conversation and just a fun time all around
We went to Chicago for a day and bought this tour online. It was a great tour!! Our tour guide Dillan was amazing, and punny. Very knowledgeable, answered questions and kept a pace comfortable for us. Very attentive. Thanks so much.
Lauren was amazing with so much knowledge and love for this wonderful city! Highly recommend!
So much fun!! Definitely a MUST if you’re visiting Chicago, especially if you’re interested in its history or crime/Al Capone in general. Lauren is an amazing tour guide!
Caleb was an awesome tour guide and very knowledgeable of Chicago’s history!
This tour is engaging for Chicago natives and tourists alike, and Lauren was such a wonderful guide. Honestly, my only wish is that the tour was longer!
Awesome fun, not a huge time commitment and very knowledgeable guide!
Lauren was AWESOME!!! She is a history nerd and super passionate about every story. We gained more knowledge from Lauren about Chicago at our first stop on this tour than we did on our entire segway tour the previous day. This is a great walking tour with lots of info and cool stories. Bummed that some places were shut down *like the Palmer* due to COVID-19, but you wouldve never known that you missed out on anything because of how detailed Lauren was. She is funny, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and helpful. Definitely highly recommend!
Lauren was absolutely amazing! Thank you so much. Would definitely do it again and again.
Absolutely loved it. Lauren was informative, fun and professional. Took my son for his 15th birthday. A memory we will never forget. Learned so much!....and got my steps in for the day!
Lauren is an amazing tour guide. Very informative and fun at the same time. Learn alot about some of the older building in Chicago but also about a bunch of tragities. Fully recommend
My boyfriend and I took this tour while we were in Chicago last weekend on vacation. Its an outdoor tour walking around the city make sure you wear comfortable shoes. If you take this tour in the winter like we did be sure to dress very warmly. They dont call it the Windy City for nothing. Our tour guide Lauren was very informative, quirky, and funny. She made sure to make the tour fun and added jokes. She was helpful if you needed directions to get anywhere she was willing to help after the tour. It was nice to visit and see sites that certain gangsters own in their year of prime.
It was our first time visiting Chicago and we ahave always been interested in the history of places and ghosts. We decided to book this tour and we were very glad we did. Our tour guide, Lauren, was excellent!! She really knew how to give a tour and kept everyone interested in what she had to say by giving detailed information and even made us laugh now and then throughout the tour. We were fortunate that the weather was in our favour, because, we didnt know with it being February and all. We really recommend taking this awesome tour!!
Had a great experience and tour with guide Lauren on 7/28/2019. She is a historian was engaging, informative, funny, organized and clearly super-into the information she was sharing. It was sunny and hot, but she took care to keep us in the shade as much as possible and made sure everyone was doing fine as we went along. Im a local and learned quite a bit of new information. It makes me appreciate living here even more, and my nephew (not a local) was fascinated.
Lauren was a great guide! She’s hilarious and knowledgeable.
It was great. Made me want to be a guide.
Lauren was awesome! She knew her stuff and was very entertaining, enthusiastic and passionate. Had a great time.
Stefan was our guide. He is knowledgeable, humorous, and didnt walk too fast. He covers Capone, Holmes, an alley of death and various other haunts. Tour was around 2 hours and included a short break at the Palmer Hotel. We finished up before dark (early October). I would definitely enjoy taking the tour to hear the fascinating -- and occasionally grizzly -- tales again.
We really enjoyed the tour. It was very interesting, educational and engaging. It also gave me shivers a few times, knowing what we were being told wasn’t just a made-up story but factual events. You are walking outside a fair amount of time but also inside through a mall/train station and have some free time at The Palmer House, so you get to warm up/cool off (as needed). Our guide, Conan, was excellent!
Lauren was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She made it a very fun and creepy learning experience!
Our tour guide was amazing! He knew so much about the history and architecture of Chicago. Definitely well worth the money!
The tour is both entertaining and educational - a history lesson of various eras of Chicago spanning from 1871 through post prohibition with a nice tour of Chicago. The tour began promptly at 8 pm starting at Hoyts. Directions for meeting were descriptive and accurate. The tour guide, Lauren (who has a Masters degree in history), was courteous keeping us on schedule. The tour covered history of the Chicago fire along the river with facts and stories only a Chicago historian would know. The tour also covered other very interesting stories including a very detailed biography of Al Capone and the South Side mafia gang unveiled throughout the 2 hour tour. The tour covered all of the stops described in the tour description moving quickly from one stop to the next ending at the Congress right on time! One of the most enjoyable walking tours - I enjoy history.
Caleb was great and knowledgeable. Would definitely take it again!!!
Very nice walk n very informative info about d times back then. Conner was very knowledgeable about d sites and made d walk well worth it!
Really enjoyed my experience and felt safe enough with Covid.
I had such a great time on this tour. Davey was so much fun, informative, and gave such great personality to the tour. You absolutely have to take this tour if you are into history. The distance was not bad at all. Pace was easy, plenty of stops along the way and even a 20 minute break at the Palmer Hotel which was perfect to take in the beautiful historical hotel with enough time for a cocktail. Davey welcomed any questions and casual conversation. I highly recommend.
Shout-out to our tour guide, Adam. We are from Chicago, but still learned a lot of new and cool information. Adam was personable and fun.
Entertaining, well prepared, lively and interesting. Scheduling it and getting info over the phone was truly excellent. The reminder email two days before the trip was brilliant. Our Chicago Gangsters and Ghosts tour was led by Davy. Davy did a great job telling interesting stories was thoughtful and accommodating with practical matters. I had young kids on the tour and he did a perfect job of giving me trigger warnings and making a good time for all. Its a 2-hour tour, but it went fast on a wonderful day hearing ghastly truths about Chicago history. The walking was manageable. Recommend. Try to get Davy! And tip him!!!(Notice in the photo below how much care he took in addressing this 3rd grade boy...that is, the 3rd grade boy that knew all the answers. *grins*)
My two girlfriends and I had such a fun time on our tour with Stefan! He went the extra mile to make sure we got the most out of our experience. It is fun to be shown around by someone who knows the city so well, and his story-telling style is charming.
Davey was an incredible tour guide. Id say PERFECT in fact. He was engaging and very knowledgeable. Im not big on walking, but there were still plenty of stops along the way, so I wasnt too fatigued. There is also a 20 minute stop about halfway through. Very interesting tour and Im glad we chose this one over some of the others offered. Thanks!
Ummm lets see I booked this tour through airbnb as Ive been wanting to do. It for sooo long now... I honeslty was so confused which gangster tour to choose as there were soooo. Many.. This one sounded nice because its a walkin tour n I was hoping we would actually go inside. The places where gangster activities happend.. But the only place we really stepped into was death alley on state street.. Where an over crowded theater people used. To fall. Off.. Other than that the other 4 stories wete just. Told from outside the location so didnt seem as interactive as I tht id be.. Our tour guide was pretty Informative having lived there. Before I def learned more.. Wr also got to visit the cool architecture of palmer house international hotel. On wabash ave. As a tourist from a difft country or state I wluld maybe RECOMMEND this. But not as a CHICago local or someone whos lived there for more than an yr.. Thrn youll expect more n it didnt meet those expectations!!!
Connor was entertaining and extremely knowledgeable about Chicago history. He had us captivated throughout the entire 2 hour tour. I live in Chicago, yet most of the stories were completely new to me! I would highly recommend this to both tourists and Chicago residents!
Stefan was an incredible tour guide. He was very entertaining and knowledgeable! Definitely recommend for everyone. It was a nice balance of gangsters and ggost!
Exactly what I was looking for. Got to see some of downtown Chicago & learn about its unique history at the same time. Our tour guide Christian was on point - he knew his stuff, had a great personality, & even lightened the mood with a few little jokes here & there. Had a great time & would recommend. Thanks!
Davey is awesome! I was in Chicago for 7 days and did and see tons of stuff but the most impression I’ve got is from this story tour! Informative and very interesting! It’s a walking tour and in my opinion it’s better to see it with your own eyes than through the screen of a TV. Make sure to tip your tour guide!
Adam was our tour guide and he was just the sweetest!
Davey was our tour guide and made us feel really comfortable walking around the city with him! Three subject is really interesting and he did a great job of explaining and entertaining at the same time. I really recommend the tour especially if youre from out of town but there were things a lot of locals wouldnt know too.Make sure you have comfortable shoes on as there will be a lot of walking and a few flights of stairs. Also, GET THE BROWNIE!
Thoroughly enjoyable G&G walking tour! Our guide, Lauren, was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and an excellent steward of Chicagos storied history. She made everyone feel welcome and in good hands throughout the tour. I highly recommend the tour and Lauren in particular. You will not be disappointed.
I thought the tour overall was good, however I found the girl spoke too quickly and she kept jumping from one story to the next so I couldnt get an image of the stories she was telling. She was very engaging if you like an actor type of tour but I found her over animated and not real. She was very helpful so I couldnt fault customer service skills.
A great tour, sharing both the connection to mob bosses such as Al Capone and the tragic true events in the citys history which are the stuff ghost stories are made of! Several interesting details I had not heard before. Stefan was great... informative and entertaining!
Lauren was a great tour guide! Loved the tour
The tour was entertaining, educational, and fun! I had a great time learning more about the city and its amazing history. If youre a visitor or a local, definitely check out this tour!
