Stopped there today! Very beautiful building but the small convenient store off the Jackson Street side the merchant there is rude as heck! He doesnt know how to speak to people at all I well never buy anything else from his very small store! His quote is hes been in the game a long time and he doesnt cheat people...well he first needs to learn how to speak to people.!!
This is an incredible building to visit if you are interested in architecture, American history, or the Art Deco movement. The interior of the lobby is covered in subtle and symbolic references to trade and industry (wheat, grains, owls, and machinery), and the exterior towers to the brim with a 30-foot statue of a faceless woman made of steel. The Chicago board of trade has several basements, one of which holds a giant walk-in safe where Al Capone once rented a safety deposit box. Unfortunately the safe is no longer available to the public to walk into, but you can walk right up to it to view the 20-ton door. Even the flooring in this building is full of industry, with depictions of early 20th century airplanes, zephyrs, and marine vessels. The elevators, mailboxes, sconces and pretty much every detail has beautiful art-deco style embellishments. Definitely worth a visit, and admission is free!
Worked a temp job here during college, I was given an adding machine and a roomful of computer printouts. Spent 40 hours a week for 2 months adding up 1.20 MILLION + 3.7 MILLION + 2.4 MILLION.. Everybody should learn how this joint works before they graduate from high school.
A walk through the ground floor lobby of the building which is open to the public is a transport back in time to the Art Deco era. The lobby and the elevator doors are especially beautiful with its geometric wheat theme. The external of the building is also beautiful with its designs around the doors and windows. At the top of the building stands a beautiful statue of Goddess Ceres on top of a pyramid. This building is a good representation of Chicagos Art Deco buildings built around 1930.
Great fun for the whole family. Many exhibits are interactive and young children enjoy as well as the older crowd. Extremely informative for not only the history of Chicago, but has information about current events. Though not one of the largest museums in Chicago.
Monumental, epic building.
Tourists- if you’re looking to see old trading history, there’s not much here for you. A free peek into the vault is downstairs (also bathrooms) and entering on the ground floor if you go up to the visitors reception you can see photos of the old trading floor. Otherwise, check out the Art Deco and say hi to the friendly security staff. If you want to see a replica of the CBOT, it is located at the Art Institute of Chicago in the modern wing.
A gorgeous representation of early 1900s art deco architecture and design. A shining monument to US capitalism and all it stands for. If nothing else, seeing the main hall and the trading floor are a worth while learning experience.
Work here and love my job and people here
Awesome art deco lobby! Check out the technology in the tiles in the basement. Also theres a cool vault there.
Ceres is one of the best spots for food downtown.
If you like beautiful art deco inspired buildings, take a walk through the lobby!
Favorite happy hour spot on friday. The manager there is always trying to be accommodating even if the place gets slammed
The building is amazing, the architecture is amazing. Nothing to do inside, really...I used the restroom though, which is worth a million dollars downtown...I mean, heck, the convenience stores dont have restrooms downtown, I even bought something, still no restroom...
Really nice area to visit. Very clean and sanitary, also the people in the surrounding area are very friendly. I pass buy the building every day, and its a pleasant sight!
My work place
Ceres Cafe is in this building...best drinks in the City. Only the responsible need come the Drinks are Real! Frank is pretty dam cool as well.
The desk help are cranky and mean in the lobby. I would look into finding new help.
I have fun wherever I go, life is short and more when your age tells you that you are closer to the day of your death than to the day when you were born.
Cool pics in the fog! Never went in.
The architecture inside the building is amazing.
Beautiful building
The building is gorgeous, but I was rather put off by the rudeness of the security guards.
Coffee shop with big screen blasting financial news is really awesome.
Interesting if you have half an hour free.
What a beauty of a deco masterpiece.
Historic place and was fun to have our gala dinner on the now decommissioned open trading floor where they used to trade soybeans, corn, and other commodities.
Good hot freshly made meals for breakfast and lunch
The reason I visited here was that for 28 years I was an employee. I worked on the trading floor as a member of the CBOT Market Reporting staff. When CME and CBOT merged (2008) I was retained and finished out the rest of my years there (March 2018). I dont have enough room or time to tell of all the people Ive known, all the market conditions Ive worked through, all the world events Ive witnessed here (I watched the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center September 11th, 2001 on giant monitors from the CBOT Financial Floor). I also witnessed the evolutionary decline of the open outcry market, as it converted to an electronic on-line platform. It is now a ghost town, a gigantic monument of a very important time in the history of commerce.
This is a place that make me money lol
Architecture is the claim to fame here. A popular lobby bar, and a good basement breakfast & lunch cafeteria.
Financial Mecca of America with rich history.
Great historical building to checkout including the surrounding area.
Beautiful and historic building, a real gem for Chicago !
Amazing place. Been at Rosins eyecare. Had a great experience.
Beautiful building with historic art deco lobby. Great amenities.
The Currency Exchange wasnt even open.
Great example of an Art Deco building
Above average cafeteria food.
ELegant building in the loop with one of the best examples of an art deco interior in the country. Observation deck to watch trading on weekdays. Simply great. Park in a ramp or remotely & use the subway or a cab to get in. Plenty to do in the area.
Very great atmosphere. I love it.
I definitely recommend this place.

This is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. And also if you are a batman fan this is the Wayne tower in the dark knight movie
I love the art deco
Nice building! Good experience
Beautiful but windy
I can see Indiana from my office.
This art-deco masterpiece is usually closed for public, but I got a chance to visit it from inside during Open House Chicago and saw the huge, secure vault, where they used to keep goods. One of the best buildings in the city.
Great service
Cafeteria on the lower floor of the building has excellent food and a great place to people watch.
Art Deco explosion!!! Vintage!
This building is SUPER rad, its a must see!
Great art deco interior design. Good restaurants and shops.
I have spent what seems like a lifetime here. Historic site but depressing to be in it due to its dark and cold architecture.
Amazing urban setting, one of a kind!
Chicago Board of Trade - Chicago Mercantile Exchange in the Financial District, LaSalle Street Canyon, build 1930 Art Deco, topped with a three story aluminum statue of Cere, goddess of agriculture
Buttjole
Amazing historic building
Historic landmark in the loop.
The Ceres restaurant has pretty good food, but people do not go here for the bar food, they go here for the drinks. They dont server Jack and coke, they serve Jack, with a can of coke on the side. The drinks are about $10, but you definitely get what you pay for! They definitely DO NOT water down any of their drinks.
Beautiful building with stunning architecture
Nice facility for large events
Sarcastic security officers near the messenger center

Very cool building in Chicago. Gives me the feel of being right on Wall Street without having to go all the way east to New York City.
This place is iconic
Always smiling and speaking very respectful
Great Architecture
I tried to get in...but security is tight.
Iconic Chicago building.

As a tenant, I love the building. Despite its age, we have never had a technology problem. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the beauty of the building keeps our clients happy.
My favorite building!!!
