The people who work here are incredibly passionate about their job. The tour guide who showed us around really knew her stuff. She had a very in-depth story about every single exhibit. Theres also a short informational video, its very well produced and uses more than just video.

Absolutely wonderful museum!! Loved learning about the history of Chinatown and the par-for-the-course atrocities of the United States! Really wonderful documentary as well. Absolutely worth a visit (or two depending on how much time you have)!

Visited in Feb 2020. This was an awesome experience. I truly recommend that if you are in Chinatown or in Chicago in general, you make this a stop on your visit. The museum consist of two floors. The second floor was my favorite. There is an interactive theatre, where you watch a documentary of the creation of Chicagos Chinatown, but also can see some of the items they discuss in the documentary. They only ask a small donation for an entrance fee, and the employees/volunteers are very helpful and full of knowledge. We had a wonderful experience!

I swear this must be a tax haven under the guise of a non profit. I live on the same street as them and I rarely see them open. 99% of the time I see feckless tourists show up at their doors only to find them closed during typical business hours. The only interaction weve had with them as neighbors was an old dude threatening to slash our tires if we parked their museum. Dont waste your time.

Okay... you HAVE to check out this place. We saw Ann extraordinary exhibit of Chinese American clothing and a concise history of the Chinese American population in the 20th C. If you have any heritage in this area, and you are in the area, this is a must see! Very moving!

I went on a field trip with my high school. And out tour guide was a retired American professor. At first he was ok but then he started talking about how the chinese came to America and compared it to the immigrant situation right now. He made racist comments about the hispanic people coming to America to take our jobs and made coments about the wall as a hispanic I felt very discriminated and upset. If you give tours to high schools you should not tall about your opinions with the immigrant situation in America as it offends people.Apart from that the museum was very nice and informative about the chinese american culture and the staff were very kind.

Went here to get community service hours in high school. I was the only Asian that did not speak Mandarin and the instructor had to single me out just to give me the same instructions verbally in Cantonese.I wish they were more active in getting rid of the hoodlums that live in the condominium in Chinatown.
