Got free tickets to this show and it was such a great experience. I havent laughed that hard in so long. The host was by far the funniest and super inviting. We had the first tables in front right in the middle of the stage BEST SEATS OF THE ENTIRE PLACE. My waitress (the pretty young black girl) I forgot your name doll so sorry! She was spectacular!!! So attentive in such a chaotic environment and very nice. She did a great job. I will most definitely be going back to the laugh factory. Keep up the great work guys!
I’m extremely disappointed in the service I was given by Kendra luderbeck. She was extremely rude and unsympathetic as I was charged more than double what I owed by Jessica Franklin. My card was charged 3 times for one transaction! I called for 4 days and was not able to speak to anyone. You can not leave a voicemail or email them.Apart from that, everyone is charged an additional 18% gratuity(even for a table of two). The first time you were made aware of this is once you were already sat down at the venue. As you have to purchase your minimum two drinks. This is in a fine, small print on the menu. It’s extremely dark in the venue, so you won’t be able to see itI would not recommend this business.
Great Show and enjoyed the comics but please please please be careful and dont get GOT like I did with the bill. Its super dark so you really cant see how they are scamming with you with the bill.Tip 1. A double shot is actually the cost of TWO drinks. I got a Malibu and rum drink ( $11.00) came out to 22 dollars because of double shot. A whole bottle of Malibu costs lessTip 2. There is an 18% Gratuity already built in ( even for a table of two) so only tip extra if YOU want to... they wont warn youTip 3. The drinks even with all that are watered down and sugary so just go for the show. My friend and I got 2 drinks a piece and it was 110.00Please beware. plus side...comics were great....
Very nice venue and I definitely appreciated the added level of security with the precaution of taking temps prior to entering. Comics were hilarious!
I am new to the city and this was such a good surprise to realize I was living close to this place. It was such a fun night
The comics and host were brilliant, but they rip you off on drinks. 110 dollars for 4 drinks is shocking. I want to support artists but that is ripping off the audience.
2 drink minimum plus the tipping is recommended by the staffs tablet. All in all though historic place with funny comics for a great date night
Great venue. nice staff. full bar doesnt hurt.
2 drinks minimum per person. Drinks are not an option. Bottled water is $4 and a coke (completely flat) is $5. Gratuity is already added. I paid $22 for 3 bottles of water and a coke. One of the comedians (Puerto Rican) said ni**a.
Had a great time dont buy drinks!! Pregame at home but the comedians were great
This was fun. There is a wide range of comedy so youre bound to find your match. But mostly youll have a good time.
Made me feel better about my life.
Fun time for the wife and I, drink policy is a little wack but I know they gotta stay in business.
We saw a Friday 8pm show. The performance was great. I loved the volunteer audience participation as well. If we come to the city again I would want to see another show. I miss understood the option of the tickets. I wish that was clearer. I thought VIP meant we got seating and didnt have to get there early to claim spots. But no seats in the venue were bad. Just a bit of straining looking up constantly.
It was great!!! Great comedians..two hrs of great laughs
The show was absolutely hilarious and a great time! Be sure to come in early for the good seats. Parking is available but limited so you might end up having to park on the street. Probably best to take the bus down here or Uber so you dont need to worry about parking. Drinks are available and waiters are always walking around to make sure everyone is doing alright. Definitely stop by! You wont regret it.
Thank God this place is open during the pandemic! I had a great time, the comedians were really funny
They gave us free tickets then cancel them without sending any notification. The guy at the front lied to everyone and said they did, but nobody I know received an email
I havent been to a ton of comedy clubs but overall this place was nice. It took awhile for the servers to get to you in the beginning but when 300 people enter all at once what do you expect... The comedy was great but you cant expect everyone to be outstanding. Seating was good, a bit tightly packed, but not too bad. Drink menu is limited and can be improved. Interior is nice and well kept.
I really like this place. The last time we were there was a Tuesday night and we werent expecting much. We got a show with 4 feature comedians a headliner and about 15 new comics. It was great. Tickets were $10 with a two drink minimum. Not bad at all.
I attended the Nasty Show and it was nasty. Some of the comedians were funnier than others, but a good time was had. I will say they need a better entry system when it is cold. I would get the priority passes so you can walk straight in and get a good seat. The drinks are okay and they do not serve any food.
Awesome place to see up and coming comedians. Drinks are quite spendy and youll want to get to shows early so you can snag good seats, otherwise you wont get to see the stage at all and have to watch the show from cc TVs, which actually isnt that bad. There is also a two drink minimum. Hopefully that means more of the ticket sales can go to the comics.
This was so much fun! Highly recommended. We went on a Saturday night for their regular show at 9.15, got there about half an hour early to get in line so we were one of the first to enter. The host was fantastic, and the line up was really great. Id say most of them were funny, there were one or two guys that I couldnt really make out what they were saying. A lot of the jokes were a little crude or sexual in nature, so keep that in mind. You do have to buy two drinks per person, and the cheapest drink on there is $4. (P.S. they do table service).
The actual show was amazing. And it was the first time being in the city, so my boyfriend and I thought this would be a great way to spend the night. But, our server was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. And as a server myself, I understand that sometimes you just have bad nights, but her attitude honestly ruined the whole night for us.. left such a sour taste in our mouths about the Laugh Factory all together.
Great for a date night or if u just want a good laugh
Friendly and funny! Great night out at a reasonable price.
Awesome venue to see some great comedians - both up and comers, and established acts. Only negative is they need to improve their drink service. If youre going to require a 2 drink minimum, fine, but supply these drinks while the act is still performing! I also had to wait ~10 minutes after the show finished to get my bill.
Laugh factory is one of my favorite places to go in Chicago — it’s free! Of course there’s a two drink minimum, but hey, free comedy. The only negative is that there are repeating comedians and there’s a chance you might see someone twice, which would be okay if they had different jokes every time. Overall, a good time. Recommend!
It was my first time ever going to a comedy club and I was very impressed! I laughed the whole time! Definitely recommend if you are looking for a fun and affordable night out.
Great venue, great entertainment, unfortunately I was charged about $10 for Splitting The Bill with my girlfriend. Ive never attended any event where Im charged to pay my own bill. I talked to my waitress about it and was told thats just how it is.
Show was very good. The server forgot about us and made us order the 2 drinks minimum order almost at the same time. I didnt even drink the second drink...
Just was here and it was a great time lots of laughs and lots of love very diverse crowd and a well put together system i really enjoyed myself.!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I was just going to leave my five stars and be on my way... But I read the review about the server last night (9 Dec 19)..Dude, I loved the server from last night (Jessica??), she was excellent!! As an ex-server, I know to be chill and calm and it looked like she was the only one working—cool, like, it wasn’t crazy busy. She was fast and anticipated my needs. But!!! The only thing that bothered me was the lady who kept interrupting while she was taking orders from a table close to us. The waitress had to ask the lady to wait while she got their order. I’m not sure if she finally sat down or what but I’m protective of waitstaff! :) Don’t be rude! Anyway, she was a great worker and had a beautiful smile! The place smelled weird but I got my comedy on and 2 drinks, I know I’ll be back to TLF!
Different entertainment from clubbing and bar hopping. Launch pad for a lot of famous comedians. Seating fills up quickly so get there early. Typical overpriced drinks with little alcohol. Cash only bar. Two drink minimum with card. Comedians lineup vary. On this visit the host, Cory, ROCKED!!
Not happy with our experience at all. We went out for a birthday. We bought tickets and when we got there we found out we had to stand and the balcony was completely full. Then we tried to make the best of it and went in the other room and sat down and watched the screen. People started to come in and stood right in front of us for the next show. I did not enjoy my time and will not come back. Spend a little more money and go to a better place in my opinion.
We had a great time listening to the comedians. But the drinks are way over priced! If you come in a group they charge you 18% for splitting the bill!!!! So our bill was an extra $10 which was unexpected. We were very unhappy with the Bills and they did not warn us before ordering. I will not be coming back to the laugh factory.
I was very disappointed to come with guest, only to be cold as the heat did not work. We were assured it would be warm by the 2and act&that was a lie.I didnt mind paying the 2drink minimum for me&my guest, I was embarrassed that Id been many times before on warm days, yet to come my1st winter day&be let down by having no heat the whole show
Recieved a set of complimentary tickets through Vet Tix to watch a show. My wife and I had a great time, well worth the trip. Thank you for donating tickets to us Veterans.
Great place to go during Covid
Its always a good time going to support one of my close friends. They have a good lineup! But the venue itself didnt smell great when walking in and I was also disappointed that they were out of a lot of alcohol/chasers. Not cool when they have a two drink minimum. You cant ask people to purchase what you only have . Stay stocked laugh factory.
Saw 6 different comedians. They were hilarious and the show was curated perfectly. The reason for the 3 stars is the fact that I almost got knocked out by a flying glass. I was sitting under the balcony and someone above me dropped a full pint glass. It blew up after exploding on my table. Everyone around was shocked including me. Our server brought napkins and asked if we were ok. I was shook and didn’t enjoy the rest of the show. The balcony up top needs to have a rail installed so this doesn’t happen again.I will come back. But cautiously.
We got the VIP tickets but the whole experience was lacking. They could use someone to redo their logistics. But the show was good and made up for it
I went to The Laugh Factory Feb. 7th. I ordered a bucket of beers and was told i would get 5-6 beers in the bucket of ice with 2 free tickets for a show in the future. The server returned to my table with only 4 beers, all at once, (not 5 or 6 as promised). With no ice, no bucket and no tickets. The beers sat on my table getting warmer as Im drinking them so by the time I got to my last beer it was room temperature. This place doesnt deliver the service they promise.
Good place to spend time. I only went once and didnt regret it. Each performer was unique.
The comics here are always so funny. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re not ok with foul language or get offended easily. Definitely not your scene. If you love that kind of humor then this is the place for you.
Saw 6 comedians who each did 10-15 mins of standup and who were overall pretty funny. Very different experience than the Second City though which is more skit based. Will definitely be coming back!
CRAZY expensive drinks. CRAZY slow service (you can expect to wait for 15-30+ minutes for drinks brought to you). The shows can be expensive, but the the acts are usually good. I recommend looking up the shows themes to find what floats your boat. I was IN a roast battle and the the comics were great. Lots of fun to watch even though I was also performing. Then we bought tickets to see the dirty show and it was pretty disappointing. Not really any different than their regular shows. So, a wide range of acts available for all! 4/5 stars if the 2 drink minimum didnt cost your first born and an eternity to arrive (every show Ive been to their has had this problem).
Last comic was the best as always. Keep bringing in great laughs.
Seating isnt good. We had to stand around and not see the comedians perform. We could hear the comedians but not see them. The bar staff still did a great job of servicing everyone though.
I went to a free show on Sunday night and it was absolutely wonderful! The minimum requirement was that each person had to order two beverages, which is totally reasonable and the drinks were good. Service was a little slow, Im assuming short staffed, but they were all friendly and dressed nice!
I thoroughly enjoyed the two free shows that I attended here. If youre going on a Friday or Saturday night, make sure you come early (if you have free tickets). The balcony area got really crowded the last time I was here and some people were standing the whole time.
Very good nothing wrong please give me a show
I have been hare twice a month since I moved to Chicago and the place stands up to the name, I had many laughs here. Unfortunately, the Laugh Union picketed and shut down the Laugh Factory after it was determined that there was a chuckle leak somewhere in a maintenance hatch and laughing gas was finding its way to the factory floor. Other than that, the Laughs produced are safe and fine for consumption right off the assembly line.
The comedians were hilarious and there was plenty of seating in the cozy club. There was a 2 drink minimum that we werent aware of and the comics felt pretty rushed which contributed to the get in, buy your weak drinks & get out vibe that I got from this place. Honestly if it wasnt for that I wouldve definitely given them a higher rating because I truly did have a great time.
Great entertainment but there is a two drink minimum with the entry ticket. They dont make this obvious until you are already in hence the 4 star review.
They produced a lot of laughs, which was what they advertise with their name.. I like it when names of places dont lie :)There was a sad part when some people on the public didnt understand what a joke means, but you cannot blame the place for that, but the people that goes there..They only serve drinks (so eat something before you go there) and they prefer cash, so go to the ATM before and then have fun. Totally worth it.
They advertise a free comedy show but in the fine print you have to purchase at least 2 drinks. They add 18% gratuity even if you are by yourself. They say they dont have straws since the owner is trying to cut costs. The comedy is OK. The host and producer are HILARIOUS. There is 1 waitress so it takes a very long time to get the drinks. It is in a pretty decent area for parking and bars. Staff was really friendly and nice but I would not go back.
While in Chicago on vacation, we went to the Laugh Factory, which is the old Lakeshore Theatre. There is only street parking so that was a hassle because it was like finding parking in Korea Town in L.A. But other than that, a great time was had by all. They require the standard two drink minimum. The comedians were good. Robert Hines aka Toby Jones from the YouTube videos there and he was hilarious, which was a special treat.
Good place to catch some laughs. Two drink minimum. Can get a little crowded but Overall good entertainment
2 drink minimum* the talent was great. We went a few times now and leave smiling. Sometimes the talent talks about topics that a lot of people in this current age get a little nervous to laugh at, but its comedy and laugh! We love this place and I enjoy when I see comics talking about things I can relate to that others might not find funny since they feel uneasy on the subject. Keep up the great work!
Had a great time at the Laugh Factory. Good mix of different comedians and most of them were funny. Only complaint was lack of clarity on the overall cost of the experience. In addition to the ticket price, you are required to pay more money for the mandatory two drink minimum. This system could be improved in my opinion.
Theres never a bad show and you can find a new favorite comic every night
With all of the great options for comedy in Chicago, theres no reason to deal with the terrible service from wait staff and managers at Laugh Factory. Comedy was great, but again – you can get that anywhere.TL;DR: This is *another* review about this companys poor and illegal practice of requiring gratuity for every party. This place has a two drinks/person minimum ($3 bottled water counts). Thats fine.I was in a party of two, but my receipt came back with Included Gratuity, which the menu says is required for parties of six or more. The service wasnt great in general, so I crossed out this incorrect tip, and added my own amount. When my credit card statement showed that the waitress decided to ignore the comments on my receipt, I called the manager and left a message. I didnt hear back, so I called again and was told he was in a meeting. Next time I called, he was at lunch. I never heard back.My complaint is about the lack of morals by BallerWaller and poor communication by the manager. I dont really care about the $2.86 they illegally charged me, but I do care about their lack of professionalism.
We saw a good show and it was worth going, but I do have a couple qualms: they have a 2-drink minimum per person (and theyre kind of expensive), so if you got lured in by the free tickets, thats why. Its kind of disappointing because if youre poor and get excited about getting to go to a free show, then suddenly you have to unexpectedly drop a good $25-$40. Also, the place smells bad. Otherwise it was a fun time.
Great spot to see a comedy show. Most shows are local talent or up and coming comedians. Every once in a while you’ll get a big name here. Ticketing, admission and seating are all easy. Service during the show can be hit or miss, but mainly due to a server to patron ratio. Seating is a little cramped especially when sitting towards the front, but not necessarily uncomfortable. Overall, can be a fun night out or occasion for a group.
They had some decent comedians that are up and coming. I enjoyed the variety of different topics the comedians came with. Only issue I had was that it was kind of cold inside.
The comedians was funny. My 1st time there and Ill definitely be back.
Was a really fun stand-up comedy show! First time and was not disappointed
Great place and hilarious comedians. And the drinks are good and strong
Had a good laugh. Good mix of comics! Get priority tickets unless you want to wait outside. Order all your drinks at once because the staff will not get back around to you for seconds. Maybe even drink somewhere else (slim drink selection).
Had a great time
We had a great time watching the comics. Venue was easy to get to, parking was cheap.
It was a pretty fun night! The place itself is a little run down, but the acts were hilarious and we enjoyed ourselves! The drinks are about $8-10 and there is a 2 drink min. If you follow them on twitter, FB, etc after the show you get complimentary tickets for use at a future show when you show the host/hostess when exiting! We will be back
I attended a free comedy show. Although it is free, you get in line for better seats. Also 2 drinks per person is required to order. It was 1.5 hour long. 7 comedians did stand ups.
If you get there early enough and sit on the first floor, you get a nice view of the stage. Now the second floor is not the best, even though they have screens.
I love this place!! So many good laughs for a fraction of the price of a special. Diverse comedy which is always appreciated
A good place for free comedy shows -2 drink minimum.
Its a hit or miss with some of the comedians and a lot depends on your type of humor. Usually there are multiple 10-15 min acts and overall its a good time.
We went here in a Monday, and tickets were $17. The comedians were good but we was the rudest waitress Ive ever had the misfortune of encountering. She was moody, didnt seem to want to be there at all (hey, in all fairness, everyone had bad days), but she was just straight up unpleasant. The place didnt have half the drinks that were advertised on the menu. Overall, the experience wasnt all that great
Laugh Factory, a place of humor and a great time. This was my first time going to Laugh Factory and I can say it was worth it fully. The host of the show was excellent, drinks were good and the servers attended to you whenever you needed during the 1.5 hour run time show. The interaction with the crowd was also great so beware if you sit upfront. The actual comedians, all regulars to the venue, were all excellent. I will definitely be returning for more laughs and memories.
Finesse Mitchell was hilarious as well as the three comedians before him. Drinks were strong and service was good. Definitely a great place to hangout before or after dinner. Depending on the day they have an 8p and 11p show so you can choose whatever fits your schedule. Opt for the premium seats for better seats and express entry.
