Probably my favourite point-of-history in Charleston! Which is saying a lot because the city is full of wonderful sites to see around every corner. I mean… I couldn’t pass up going to church here one Sunday while I was in the city because it’s PINK which is my favourite colour. Obv.At the time, I didn’t know much about the French Huguenots but I read up on the history of them and it is quite fascinating. This church was full with lovely people, I had a great time and it was a great service.So...this review takes a wild turn, because recently I met up with a friend who has just begun going to Hugenot meetings in Raleigh because they were grandfathered into the tradition by birth AND THEN we did some digging around and found an e-book online depicting Charleston history and found out that we are actually related from a marriage between our ancestors that took place back in the day in Charleston! Small world I guess lol. Pretty in pink.
A worthwhile stop and a beautiful walk through a fascinating part of Charleston. A worthwhile short visit to learn of the history of the Huguenot Church in and out of Charleston. Be charmed by the explanation of the docents who tell you of a place you didnt even know existed, and look forward to revisiting it upon your return to this lovely historical coastal city, its inhabitants, its beauty and fine dining.
This is such amazingly beautiful architecture, just like so many old churches & most of downtown Charleston.
I had seen this place in internet due to was looking meaning of Huguenot word. On Mary Poppins movie its mentioned (by captain neighbor). And I found this building. It was amazing for me to be able to touch something I was in internet one year ago ...
Architectually beautiful. Historically significant. Its a beautiful church which is still in service.
Greatest christmas season since ever. The choir was incredible.
A wonderful, caring place to worship. Music is fabulous.
It was beautiful from outside I did not go inside
Philadelphia Alley next to church. Beautiful
Nice historical church.
Attended a beautiful wedding @ this lovely church. Charleston is a magnificent old city thats managed to keep a hold on its Southern Charm... Always enjoy going back...
A most interesting place of worship.
Very welcoming congregation and just like a family reunion every Sunday. Rev Bryant is an awesome minister!!
Beautiful area of Charleston. Greeted by volunteers that were so nice and offered a great historic perspective.
Nice service and welcoming people
Great historic church.
My son and daughter-in-law shared their wedding vows last weekend at the church and it couldnt have been more beautiful! Many thanks to all the staff for their kindness and help.
If you are looking for a church that actually preaches the gospel as the Huguenots were known for, and were persecuted for, this is NOT the church. A 15 minute sermonette loaded with a few worldly quips to make the congregation laugh, followed with a meager commentary and no real gospel or scripture. Very disappointing. Perhaps this is what happens when a people boast more in their heritage than in the cross of Christ. May the Lord have mercy on this congregation and send them true, God-called pastors that will care for their souls.
Only visited from the outside, interesting architecture, liked the black and white contrast and the surrounding palm trees.
