Rating 3/5 for many reasons- the atmosphere is beautiful! The outdoor garden was great and had so much potential! The greenery wall was so cute and fun! But the vibe sucked. Very unfriendly staff, drinks were served in plastic cups even for the nice craft drinks (old fashioned or neat bourbon) and overall was not a good experience. We had one drink and felt the vibe drop and dipped. So much potential to be a hot spot, but unfortunately I would pass by.

Great place to chill. Super Raggae dude was really good. Someone needs to discover him.

At first I liked it and think its a good place for drinks and music, but they charged my tab for 5 drinks and I only had 2. Not sure if it was even voided correctly but not returning. Just be careful if you decide to open a tab

Went on Halloween, place was very busy and had good music. There was a small fight that broke out and the staff was very good and took control of the situation. Drinks were good service was fast and prices were reasonable.

We arrived on a Saturday night at 10:30, paid $15 for the smallest drink I have ever been served, and then a large bouncer dude came through and screaming bar closed get out. There was still 30 min until the 11pm stop serving rule. I visited 10 bars during my weekend and this was the worst. 3 stars only because of the nice outdoor seating, pricing, service and mgmt get a 1 star. Hopefully The Republic reads this and improves for my next visit to Charleston.

Horrible service, no food menu, people were rudddeeeee. I understand it was during covid - 19 but at least be welcoming. Wont go back when this is all over because of the sheer rudeness.

Planned an event using this venue in early spring this year and they ended up canceling on us due to the COVID outbreak. They then refused to give us a refund or respond to any emails for over 3 months until we got a lawyer involved after which they only agreed to give back 50% of our original deposit. Very poorly managed and would not recommend using them

Friendly and knowledgeable bartenders considering even though there was a lot of people there they were very attentive. Music was great sounding on the inside and the outside had a live band. Group of people with a mixture of different ethnicities everybody seemed very friendly and having a great time. Security seem very attentive and very aware of everything going on with made everything feel very safe. The exterior and interior of the place was very nice You definitely need to make it a spot that you go visit and check out when you come to visit Charleston or if you live locally in the area

Love the atmosphere but staff not consistently observing face mask rules . Half of them are wearing around their necks and below their mouths.

This quaint spot had a beautiful outdoor area with hip relaxed vibes. They had live music and quick service. We ordered a frozen lemonade (alcoholic), an appetizer sampler, and the southern chicken fingers. Over the food was pretty good. Nothing terrible but nothing amazing, just satisfying. The atmosphere is what set this place apart. If youre looking for a nice place to enjoy drinks, this is your spot.

We took a weekend trip to Charleston and ended up waking around town on a Saturday night. Republic caught our attention with the live music playing in their garden area. The music was great, a cover band called Live Radio was playing, and drink prices were reasonable, $4.50 bottled beer. My only slight criticism is that the garden area was poorly laid out for the volume of people there. A VIP area took up prime floor space near the stage, which no one was sitting in, which made going to and from the bar aggravating. Other tables and sitting areas made the garden a maze to navigate. Maybe consider pulling tables after dinner hours.

Told me I was too attractive to enter the venue, kinda rude kinda made me feel good. But it smelled like a combo of rotten milk, shrimp that was left out for 13 and a half days, and simping

GO SEE THE LIVE MUSIC!!! I went last night for their Sunday night band and it was great. 7-11pm, would recommend. The vibe overall in the garden is very welcoming and warm (literally, even on a cool night), its nice inside too but I didnt spend much time inside. If Im ever in Charleston again, Ill be coming back!!

Came here because there was live music on the patio. We were informed that they had an event at 9 that they needed to set up for and were warned ahead of time that we would need to vacate our table before then. We split a carafe of one of the drinks and just chilled. The jalapeño poppers were good too! Great little spot and there were heaters to keep us warm!

Tried to plan an event with them but they canceled because of COVID and then refused to give our money back and wouldn’t respond to emails for months. They might as well be scammers.

The bar would be cool if you didn’t have to pay $3000 just to get a table with drinks. No place to dance inside unless you pay for a table. Cool outdoor area but if you want AC you gotta pay the big bucks

This place was great! Visited last weekend for a Bachelorette trip and we chose the VIP area/bottle service package. It was well worth it and nice that we had the private seating area and servers to help make us drinks. We also loved the guy who guarded the area. He was really helpful and nice to us plus he was awesome stopping the guests who tried to break through to come in VIP. The staff were so nice and the staff out front as well. Definitely recommend coming here!

Visited Republic twice while I was in town for a girls weekend. The first night was a weekday and drinks were great nice atmosphere. Saturday we came back and had purchased bottle service. Gotta say not worth the money whatsoever between about 7 of us we spent over $150/+person for 2 bottles. The mark up on the bottles completely understandable/typical, whatever. The bottles however were locked in a box when a service girl was not there to pour drinks. So every 30 minutes if we were lucky we would get a drink poured for us or we would have to go find someone. Also somewhat out of the control of the BAR but there was a group of older men with the same service next to us and they not only bothered us persistently they were upset they were not getting attention from us and got in the faces of many of the girls. Would have like to see someone other than the 21 year old bottle girls get involved or step in. Now I understand people are drinking and its late but being sober and mid-30s watching everything happen throughout the night. The best way I could describe Bottle Service/VIP access is Ghetto. Wouldnt do this again. Was just trying to have a good time with girlfriends but couldnt wait to get out of there.

This was the last stop on our mixology tour. The drink they served us was spectacular (my favorite on the entire tour). The inside was closed to other patrons at this point so our group had the whole place to ourselves. Looks like it would be a trendy place for the nighttime crowd, but we couldnt get over our shoes sticking to the floor every step we took. Guess they hadnt had time to clean it from the night before. Glad it was part of the tour but its not a place Id go to independently.

High energy dance club that also had a great band playing at the outside patio bar. The VIP Section Table Service was spot on.

This place, albeit small, is gorgeously appointed and always a good, classy time. It is pure hospitality and pure Charleston! The security team is really amazing too! Enjoyed our anniversary there, where we were given a bottle of champagne w bottle service! Thanks, Republic!

I attended Republic for the first time last Saturday to a completely fulfilled experience! It was a great time and we were well taken care of by staff. Music was fun and great and could still talk to friends. Robert checked on us upon arrival and again later in evening to make sure we were taken care of and having a good time. Was very kind and genuine! Great place to socialize, relax, unwind, have fun and altogether a great evening! Will be a new, regular spot for me and will bring more friends back!

Nice bar with live music often (every night, I believe). The mixed drinks were great, specifically one called The Obvious Choice was my favorite.

Great vibes! Good music, great staff, good drinks! The Dee Jay was excellent. And live band got folks moving. Whatever the bands singer lacked in pitch, he made up for in energy and straight rocker presence. Definitely a way to end the night on King.

Worst service I’ve ever had. We had to wait for 45 minutes for our food and finally we decided to leave. Our waitress was rude and unfriendly. She didn’t come to check in and see if we’d like a drink while we waited. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone expecting to be treated with southern hospitality. If you’re looking for New York rudeness you’ve found your place.

This spot is and has been my go to on King St for years now. Nice crowd mixture of grown and sexy professionals along with everyday working 9-5ers. The bartenders have great personalities and great pouring skills. The bottle service is top notch. Even with a crowd no one is considered to be a stranger. Thats when you truly know that a business is serving its patrons because everyone is comfortable and welcome. The food is delicious. The music is awesome and keeps you moving from the line prior to entry until the lights come on at nights end. The patio bar area is nice and makes you feel like youve gone to another bar but youre just on the other side of this hip King St favorite. I suggest you visit this Charleston staple whenever youre in town I promise you wont be disappointed.

Place was more or less empty at 7pm and all over town my go to drink is 7 or 8 USD. Here it is 11, waiter told me my tap is elven. I said wow, that is like 4 more than all the other places. His answer „cool, good for you“. He brought me the check and said „actually it is 12 now“. I said well thank you very much I guess it does not matter now anymore. His reply „yeah“.

One of my favorite spots in the heart of Charleston. The patio is always fun and usually has live music. VIP service inside is also a great atmosphere.

A great venue for young people and people who like live music. Decent selection of drinks and a nice appetizer menu. We enjoyed the band, but later on the college students began to come in and things started to go downhill.

Pretty cool lounge to visit while in Charleston, however I am giving it 4 stars because it felt overpacked on a Saturday night, even sitting at a bottle service table.

Go with friends, if youre out and want to be some place alone I definitely recommend keeping moving. While the place had a good vibe it also had a very exclusive feeling and an older vibe. If youre out to meet people or dance with strangers this isnt the place. That being said, if youre with a party or for an event (a lot of bachelorette parties) this is definitely a solid place.

Charleston’s best live music venue. Bands play on the patio 7 days a week, DJ’s Wednesday-Sunday. Open kitchen for tapas bar snacks. VIP table service is available most nights. Patio also serves as an available event space for private events. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and awesome music.

Nice place but they sell the lowest brands of liquors for 9.00 and if youre lucky enough to get the bartenders to look you in the face at the outside bar you may actually get served. Their house liquors should be atleast mid shelf for the prices they charge. Not impressed with quality or service.

Giving it 4 stars because the live band was amazing and it was really easy and quick to get drinks. Dance floor inside is literally the size of a small hallway because all the VIP tables take up the majority of the inside area.

Pretty fancy, groovy place. I imagine it gets packed at times. Didnt get chance to try the food. They had live relaxing cool music which wasnt in your face and appropriate for the early evening hours. Its an impressive place. Id go back again.

Cool spot, but the bouncers were extremely rude about wearing hats, when they were also wearing hats. Seemed like a double standard when the patrons weren’t allowed to wear them.
