Henry’s is a Charleston must- food and drinks were amazing, service was impeccable, & location is prime. We hosted a private event following our wedding at Henry’s - Whiskey Room, and I was blown away by how wonderful it was. Unfortunately, we were originally supposed to throw a cocktail hour here during our original wedding date in May, and we’re forced to reschedule due to COVID. Rose was INCREDIBLE to work with, and was so open/ flexible as our plans continued to change. We ended up no longer being able to have our cocktail hour, but we’re able to instead host a private event during the wedding weekend. It was ABSOLUTELY wonderful! The service was world class, and so accommodating to my party’s needs. They made sure our day was so special. Food and cocktails were amazing - some of the best I have ever tasted! Finally, the LOCATION. Wow, the rooftop is incredible and the inside is so unique and beautiful. I can not recommend Henry’s enough- we DEFINITELY will be back often ️
Best She Crab Soup, Calamari, and Brunch in Charleston! Can’t say enough about how great the food was, and the service is impeccable. High quality fresh food and beverages served by professionals. Excellent atmosphere and live music, and something for everyone with the rooftop lounge and the whiskey room. Very convenient to the Carriage Rides as well. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a real taste of Charleston hospitality!
I liked it. We met everyone sitting around us. Super friendly place. Bartender was introducing us to others . Had a blast..
Stopped in after our carriage ride, and it was great. Very low key and casual. The grits here are fantastic! The chicken and biscuits with gravy are to die for. The alligator bites are also a must! Drinks are strong too!
Very cute! I was happy to see they had gluten free options and bread for sandwiches (as Im celiac). Reasonable prices... Went to lunch. Im a great location too. Nice staff.
All I can truly say is... WOW. Best food I have had in years! Multiple trips, cruises, fine dining and holes in the wall.... this one takes the cake!! From cocktail, to appetizer to main course.. nothing less than superb!!
I had previously given this restaurant a good rating, but we had a very bad experience today. Their policies are not at all customer friendly. This tells me they have a management problem and do not care about losing customers. While I enjoy the ambience of the rooftop and the food is okay, we will not be returning. I will not spend my money anywhere that treats customers so poorly.
This is a really cool slot right in the middle of the market in downtown Charleston. Live music, fun people, awesome staff, and some pretty good food make it a great late-night joint to meet up with friends. Dont forget to check out the rooftop as well which us really nice when the weather is cooler. @tripswithjake
Food was average. Service was great. Live music was fun. The whole thing felt random though. Nothing really went together, not a very organized staff. Not very clear directions. NO social distancing.
First time here while visiting Charleston. My husband and I enjoyed it and were impressed. We will visit again! I had fried flounder sandwich, with fries and slaw. It was great! My husband had shrimp jambalaya. He loved it! Waitress was working her first shift ever, and she was so great. No one was by her side and she never left us waiting for what we needed!
We had severe food poisoning after eating the she-crab soup and seafood platter. To be fair, the taste of both dishes were amazing. Some of the best we ever had, the service was great as well. But the after effects were so bad we had to cut our trip short. I wish I had read the other food poisoning review of this place before eating there. Unfortunately we will never be eating here again.
Really nice rooftop bar and ambiance for drinks in the whiskey bar so we came back a second time to eat.Unfortunately the service was very slow and unprofessional. We were told it’d be about an hour wait, they lost our place, and we ended up waiting closer to two hours, only to be seated on our way out. Food was mediocre at best. Live music was not jazz, as advertised.
I cant say enough about this place. A fantastic New Years Eve choice, how can you beat a Great Gatsby theme to ring in a new century. Staff was friendly, entertaining & ready for the crowd. We had the seafood platter before the kitchen closed for the night & it was wonderful. The rum Old Fashioned will bring me back when we come back to Charleston!!
Great spot for decent grub and great music. Mike Thompson tonight. Very good local band. Fabulous atmosphere.
Incredible atmosphere inside and on the roof. The food was out of this world. We had the seafood pasta and the scallops were perfectly seared. The soft shell crab sandwich was the best!!! But what made this even better was the killer service. Nikki was truly amazing, attentive, and on point. We will be going back again today!
Let me begin by saying the service was phenomenal! We were seated promptly, greeted by our waitress and served all within minutes. The atmosphere was typical downtown, lots of classic and beautiful touches of original architecture around the building. The staff was fun, and kind! Our food was great! I got the watermelon salad, which was presented beautifully, had all the right components and was a pleasure to eat. My friend got a crabcake sandwich which he very much enjoyed! Overall, I felt the experience was very enjoyable, though I felt it was a tiny bit overpriced, especially for the watermelon salad. However, I recognize that space in Charleston comes at a premium and that translates to higher prices sometimes. Id def go again!
Historic restaurant/ bar/ night club with excellent food and drinks and live music. We just came in for lunch but you could definitely tell thus place would be a lot of fun later in the evening. As for our food, it was just simple bar food, but very high quality- crispy fried shrimp with remoulade sauce, shrimp salad sandwich, BLT, chicken sandwich and a blackened chicken pasta. There were nothing but clean plates left. Quick, great service too!!
Really diverse vibes and atmosphere, the Whiskey Room is my go to spot. The door staff and host are always very helpful and welcoming.
First time Visiting and were recommended by locals.. Wait time was an hour not too bad, we were told we could go to the rooftop if we liked, so we went to take a look, idk if its bc of our race but dayuumm people starred and were totally not friendly so we went back downstairs to wait.. our waiter was good.. my husband got the seafood platter and i was told it was a ton of food so i didnt order anything but no, one person could deff finish it.. so i ended up ordering something... the fried shrimp was good a bit too salty.. the drinks were not good however.. the palomas were just not good! overall experience was meehhh ...
Good food, service and atmosphere. Outdoor areas are cozy and eclectic. Jambalaya and fish tacos were really good.
Strange food serving policies. Found an outdoor table on the second floor, but was told we could only be served appetizers despite the fact that the waiter went past this table on way to third floor to serve customers full menu. Very unaccommodative - especially considering we are still in the covid-19 pandemic. Restaurants should be more considerate of customers who would like to eat safely.
Good bartender and waitstaff. KICHEN? My order did not match the menu description AT ALL. I ended up stopping a gentleman who exited an employees only area, telling him of my observation. He said hed noticed the same problem in the morning and indicated the server *should have told us about it.. What Im talking about? An arugula salad.. without arugula or any other lettuce.Turns out the guy was the owner! Really apathetic customer service.
Relaxing atmosphere. Good drinks and variety of seats and menu
REJECTED FROM THE JUMP! ***NOT RECOMMENDED***Upon entry, the hostess looks at us and then at her watch. It was 9:30pm on a Thursday night and the place was COVID-19 friendly occupied, not too many people. When we asked if there was a rooftop bar, her response was, Yea, but theres no food. Which prompted usto ask, What time does the kitchen close?Hostess: Well, I mean like soon.Us: I mean do we have like 10 minutes for 30 minutes to place an order?Hostess: like 5 or 10 minutes l, whenever Chef says its closed. And we leave.Look, lady, there are plenty of reputable restaurants in Charleston and the your actions caused your establishment business and really put a bad taste in our mouth.
Love this place!!! Andre is the BEST bartender in Charleston in my opinion. Food is outstanding and service is great. Can’t wait to go back.
This place is Incredible!! The food was of the highest quality, with lots of flavor and fresh ingredients! Pictured is our meal of Shrimp Tacos, Fried Cat Fish, Lobster Mac&Cheese, & She Crab Soup. The servers were very attentive & helpful. Our glasses were always full & any request was filled. The rooftop bar offers great views of downtown Charleston & the City Market. DO NOT miss Henryś when visiting Charleston!
Really nice restaurant. The gator bites are delicious. Its a relaxed layer back environment. We had a party of maybe 20 or more and was only given 1 waitress who was overwhelmed with serving us and the other guest that she had and had a breakdown. We sat down at 6 and order the food came out at 9 when we was about to leave. The food came out burnt and the chef came out and told us that the grease had not been changed that morning. When we got our bills they were wrong. Im hoping that it was just a bad night because I would like to go there again and redeem the experience that I had.
One of my favorite restaurants in Charleston. Great atmosphere. Great food. Great service. And theres lots of space to eat, drink, and be merry. Whether youre looking for live music, a DJ and a dance floor, a night out w/ quality drinks, coffee/mimosas on Saturday morning, or a nice dinner, this is your spot. Henrys has a nice selection of meals to choose from and with very good portion sizes. Henrys On The Market is a must!
The food was delicious. The service was also excellent. Being the visual person that I am, the presentation of the food was fantastic. I had a Mediterranean Garden Salad to start with (photo 1). Next, I had Fried Calamari as an appetizer (photo 2). The main dish was Seafood Pasta (photo 3). The restaurant was beautiful and unique. For example, in photo 4 notice the door on the ceiling. There was also a stage in the restaurant for the live band that was getting ready to perform while we were eating. Overall, this was an AMAZING experience. I would recommend this restaurant and I look forward to my next visit.
Great food, live music, and service. Drinks were exceptional, especially the Old Fashioned.
Hands down the best bar in Charleston. In a great location, multiple levels including a full whiskey room, a rooftop bar, rooftop lounge area, and live music often. Have been coming for years and dont plan to stop.
Delicious food and drinks. Nice roof top patio with multiple levels.
We only came for a drink. Theyre still observing social distancing. We enjoyed sitting on the veranda swinging. This place is gorgeous right down to the Jim Morrison painting in the ladies loo
Really cool place. Love being able to wander around and find different areas to hang. Whiskey bar with live music and the rooftop were both really fun
Visited here today. Had lots of great reviews and I thought it would be a neat place because this restaurant has been in business a very long time! I had the fried shrimp appetizer- the shrimp were overcooked, jambalaya was a little too salty, and hush puppies were way overcooked. The staff person that brought out my shrimp, asked if we needed anything else- I informed them I did, never received tartar sauce. The food was okay, I don’t know if it was an off day, the place was very loud and the music was everything but jazz. The place was definitely not packed and service was not on point. When you come to Charleston you expect great seafood and nothing less.
Great roof top. Perfect because its couple a few different gathering areas, all with a bar very close by. Love the live music theyve often got, too. I need to make my way to the whiskey lounge in there though.
Owner? was super nice and talked to us a lot. Food was decent. Hostess was only worried about looking cool and talking to the bar tender. Not even a simple have a good evening when we left (place was empty, hostess was not busy).
Bar tenders where great. Live band was awesome. Definitely want to return
Good food and friendly service. We had a rather large party 5 adults and 2 kids. Food was really good. Mahi Mahi tacos, seafood platter fried to perfection and the shrimp and grits were delicious.
This has been one of the best places we have stopped off in Charleston. We decided stop here for lunch today. The over all the core of each level is really cool, Including the rooftop. The staff of all have been friendly and Helpful. We received our food and Received our food in a reasonable time. But overall the experience here with great. Trying The BLTs is a must.
My wife and I stopped in for lunch while visiting downtown! Wow! It was really great! I got the fried flounder, and my wife got the Lobster Mac and cheese! We are at the bar and I could clearly see the other guests enviously looking at our dishes! We will definitely be stopping by next time we are downtown!
Great food, and the staff were very friendly. Add to that live music, from a good band and you have an excellent time.
Great burger place! The burgers are fantastic and so much flavor. I like mine just cheese, burger and bacon so I really need a flavorful burger patty. These are hand made, no frozen meat here. Everyone in our group loved their selections. Will certainly eat here again.
Probably the best Manhattan I ever ever had. A little divey, but the staff was friendly and very knowledgeable and the drinks are high class
Very cool atmosphere! Check out the whiskey room and relax!
Slow start, but they came around. Good food, great band and atmosphere.
Did a full experience here from the rooftop to the happy hour at the second floor to a full restaurant dinner. Started out at the happy hour where the prices were great for regular beet, local and well drinks. Very reasonable relative to other area establishments. We wanted to try another restaurant but looked at the menu and decided to try it out. It was about 6pm prime dinner time with a fairly full restaurant. We were quoted 10-15 minutes wait but were seated in about 5 minutes for a party of 9. I shared a seafood platter and some appetizers. Quality and service were on par for a large party and relative to other restaurants. Would definitely go back.
Delicious food, amazing staff. The manager made sure that we are satisfied with everything, gave us a tour and explained the history. Thank you Jaison and the rest of the staff for the wonderful Southern hospitality.
Great food and atmosphere couldnt have pick a better place to eat
Stopped for a quick bite after a carriage ride. We were given a choice of seating. Server was friendly and attentive. The food was outrageously delicious. I had the lobster mac and cheese. The sauce was creamy goodness and there was tons of lobster. My hubby got the fried fish sandwich. The piece of fish was generous and hung over the roll. The fries were seasoned to perfection. Highly recommended!
Great local beer with good prices. The bar is very unique and has a great roof top bar to enjoy views of the city. Friendly and fast service make this place a must if your near the market.
Um, four bars, great vibe, delicious food, good music, a ton of atmosphere... Yeah, this is an easy five stars!
Food poor. Service ok. Would not recommend on an evening for a mealDrink and loud music is what this place offers on an evening.
Nice rooftop bar, music not for me and drinks are average. Didnt order food, but it seems like a nice hangout if you like country music.
The food and drinks are delicious! If you ever go during the night time it is a very beautiful and great atmosphere. I will definitely be back.
Awesome food, cool atmosphere, cool and friendly staff. Big portions of seafood and its right across market, also doesnt stink like bad seafood like some other places.
Don’t bother they are rude and the hostess threw water on some kids save your money go elsewhere!!!
Great bar and grill. Friendly, welcoming service, good food well priced. Right next to the city market and old town Charelston.
Lots of Fun, great music. I didnt eat there but what I saw looked good.
I ordered grilled grouper with fries and tomato/cucumber salad for a side. Great tasting, good portion, and fairly darn quick! Staff was very welcoming and attentive without being over-bearing. Great place!
Seat yourself type of Restaurant. Great food atmosphere vibe all of the above. Fried Green tomatoes and fish A+
I had my birthday dinner here complete with dessert. I recommend it highly. The wait staff is very attentive.
A local law enforcement officer highly recommended this place for the music and food. Needless to say I was not disappointed. I ordered the Catfish (well seasoned, nice and crispy). The party that I was with also enjoyed their meals. Great place for a date, there is live music everyday at 9 pm. The music was tasteful, and entertaining (musicians were excellent).
Service Great! Atmosphere Great! Food Amazing! Compliments to them all! The Turners will be back again
The food was AMAZING. The staff is not that friendly. The rooftop bar is nice but doubt I will return
Fabulous whiskey bar upstairs with access to wonderful roof top views. Marshall made us excellent drinks!
Favorite place to end my evening in Charleston. From dinner to Henrys for drinks and music is always my go-to on a night out. Cant beat it. Sitting on rooftop while my husband smokes a cigar, overlooking Charleston, with a glass of wine- divine.
Kenny is the best bartender in this city!! Salted pretzel all day...
I loved this place!! Will be coming back
The owner is so nice. I enjoyed it very much
Good Resturant. Food was good. I had the Jambalaya. Great portion. However had the Crab cake for Appetizer. The crab cake was very good but for the cost of 15 dollars you only get 1 crab cake. Dont recommend for couples. Not enough to share.
Great place to relax and have a drink outside. Live music on the first floor and in the whiskey bar. Great and attentive wait staff.
AJ is a great bartender would come here again for him to make more drinks!
Excellent food at a somewhat good price! The music and the food make the experience wonderful. It is a small restaurant. Wait time isnt to bad.
Weve been walking around for a while and saw this place. Decided to try it out. Atmosphere was great, waitresses were nice, food was great. Omg those hush puppies /drool. It was moderately priced but so worth it to me.
Ashley is an amazing server. Food was delicious. Good vibe. Highly recommended
Awesome staff fun weekend atmosphere
Awesome restaurant! We sat on the rooftop, enjoying the view, drinks and delicious food. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Charleston. The jambalaya was fantastic and the She Crab soup is a must order. Great place!
The front door staff was a little stiff, no real friendliness. The food was cold, rice dish not completely cooked, rice isnt supposed crunch
Nice place for drinks, appetizers and music. Just a good, comfortable place. Service is great. Never had a meal bit everything we have had there has always been great. We go to Henrys about six times a year. For the past ten or more years.
Best she-crab soup I’ve ever had! Such a great location with several levels of bars. Cool, authentic atmosphere. Oldest bar in Charleston. Especially love the rooftop area. Plus, always 5-star bartenders. We come here on every trip to Charleston.
Awesome atmosphere. Fair prices.
Some of the best Shrimp and grits I’ve ever had. They make a pretty good old fashion
The place is a definitely must go. Food was awesome service was great I was down here for the weekend and this was by far the best food and service I had the entire time I was here. I ate the Jambalaya and it was seasoned very well. This was not the place I was going originally but I’m very glad I chose this place to eat. I was very please and recommend that if your looking for good food and service Henry’s is the place to go.
The food was awesome. Will definitely be going back.
Was shown to a table, and then we sat. After a few minutes wife went to the bar to get us some drinks. And then we sat. We grabbed a passing waitress and asked her who is taking care of our section which she didnt know. She did drop off some menus and then we sat there for 15 more minutes before we left. For half an hour no one asked us if we wanted anything.
We went to Henry’s for lunch. We had a party of 7. They quickly sat us and the host let us know the kitchen was a little backed up due to several large parties that were just sat. Our server greeted us quickly and made some menu suggestions. As the food came out being with several older kids they needed things as all kids do. The general manager Mike Mendoza delivered our food and got things for the table that were needed. He turned out to be our personal server for a moment. He was very attentive and personable. He came over and talked to us several times during our meal. The suggestions our server made were all very good suggestions. If you want some awesome food and great atmosphere I would recommend Henry’s to anyone who hasn’t been there before.
Good food and music downstairs with even more music and cute spots up on the rooftop!
It is a rustic looking restaurant and friendly environment. The staff were great and food excellent. I ordered catfish and grits. I observed other plates being brought out to customers and I was impressed with quality and quantity of plated dishes. Good atmosphere. At night they have a live band at times. I was not privy to the band.
Great moody vibe and live music
Pros: Stopped in for lunch and had the Mahi Mahi tacos which were very delicious!Cons: The bar could use a bleach wipe-down, as it did not smell clean. Also going into a jazz place you would expect to hear jazz music playing but it was just regular top 40 music. We didnt get a chance to go back for the jazz band at night.
Well we came down for St Patty’s. Went there for a round of drinks. Came back for a second round. And was denied service. Bar tender said manager said we were too intoxicated and that children were present. That was not the truth!! What a place. 57 years old and never been denied service.
