This park is known for hosting major cultural heritage event every year!It hosts the famous Sombrero Fest along with all the concerts, concession businesses, day-tournaments such as Tug-of-War, the famous Jalapeno Eating Contests, Grito Contests, and the like.Great place to be during Charro Days!!!Other great events include Symphony in the Park which is an orchestra concert while you picnic in the park enjoying the sounds of the symphony!Dont miss the Opening of the Washington Park Lights during the Christmas holidays! Its a community event all on its own! Very enjoyable. When the park is not hosting any events, its a rather bland park. Not much to it other than a central fountain and Home of the infamous Jefferson Davis Rock Memorial.

I went there for the Sombrero Festival to watch some friends in one of the bands. Man! That place was so packed, and the food was okay. But maybe because I couldnt fit my fat pregnant self (at the time) through anywhere and I was not craving anything they had for sale in the food booths. The area was clean, and thank goodness it was a ridiculously pretty day out in the spring. Id like to check it out again when there is no festival going on in the area.

Its a nice small quiet park, popular with people who regularly just walk for exercise or just hang out with friends. Some people also bring their dogs for walks.

Beautiful place to take kids to run and play or walk your dog. It has always felt safe. This is also where our local and annual Sombrerofest takes place during the Charro day weekend (which is a must attend event during the last weekend of Feb.)

A perfect day for a March for Womens Equality. The park is well kept. However, I gave it one less star because of a monument rock installed in memory of a Confederate officer. The Confederacy was formed against the United States. By the way they lost the war. Of course, Texas threatened to secede from the nation when they dont get their way. I just went youre here cuz its warm.

If you are adventuring the city around and need to take a little rest from downtown noise and tiredness, then this is the place to stop and rest, since not only will you get a beautiful view of what Brownsville is all about, but also give you a sense of why Brownsville is considered a beautiful town!
