Mary and Will welcomed me like family:) I spent 2 hours touring the 2 buildings outside and 3 rooms inside. Nice detailed displays of aquariums, music history, Tina Turner schoolhouse & life, local history and the cotton industry; among others. Also has gift shop. An extensive collection of tourist/travel pamphlets for TN and surrounding states. Please visit this little gem if youre in west Tenn:)

Great little museum, so much info on all the musicians that came from that area. Also the cotton industry, I think there were 5 rooms devoted to different subjects. The 2 women that were running it were so nice. It was a great stop!

FREE FREE - Dont miss this. If you are driving by and have the time this is a great stop. Good bathrooms hyes, but even better there are a few museums: cotton, country music, wildlife, even the school that Tina Turner went to. We spent an hour but a shorter visit is fine too.

Its 5 museums in 1, with a gift shop, which is nice. The staff/volunteers were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The museums may seem a bit smaller than a large city, however, for the size of the town, they were more than adequate. I just wish they would put up more signage on I-40 to let people know the museums are there. Theres almost no signage as you approach.

A really nice place to stop in to gain a bit of history on several TN great music legends - Blues and the great Tina Turner who is in a class of her own! There too is the historical information about the beautiful West Tennessee area that includes everything back from the Civil War Era, Agriculture (cotton), and of course the History of the Hatchie River...so, if you are traveling along I-40 and feel the need to stop or just want to venture outside of the city for a little history on a road trip...stop in @ Ext 56 and spend some time Tinas old school house or walking through the museum.

Small little museum and so full of history. You get to see the rebuilt School that Tina Turner attended as well as the rebuilt home that blues legend Sleepy John Estes lived in. Great history on other Jazz and Blues legends, some Elvis Memorabilia, great history on the Hatchie River and on cotton processing too.

I came in search of the school home of Tina Turner and found much more. This museum or treasure is located in Brownsville, TN and worth the experience. I learned more than Ive ever wanted to know about cotton in their West TN cotton museum, the actual home of Sleepy John Estes, and of course the school home of Tina Turner! Most experience!

While looking for things to do that were close to Jackson TN, we decided to check out this museum. Ive always enjoyed Tina Turners music and considered her a legendary performer. I was curious as to what this museum would have to offer and I have to say that I was impressed. This place is definitely a hidden treasure right off the interstate. It is much more than just a simple museum. There are three other sections that have some great artifacts. Also, it is free! The staff is very friendly and the place is very well kept. What a treasure and to know that the legendary Tina Turner grew up not too far from this museum. Check it out when you can, you will not be disappointed.

We were told about this museum and if we liked Tina Turner, we should stop here. She had her one room schoolhouse moved from Flatbush here. We had no idea what we would find. It was a gem. There is no charge. When you go in there are her different costumes from movies and concerts and they are playing her music. plus other memorabilia. Then there is a a school room set up like she went to. Plus there is a bonus cabin next to it. Its worth stopping for, and it is right off the exit.

The people working here are absolutely amazing. Some of the friendliest people I met on my trip. I actually spent a half hour talking to them about photography and electronics. (Oct 2015)They walked the floor and pulled brochures, magazines and maps, marking all sorts of things that might make for good photography. They pulled other people from the office in, and asked them for suggestions as well.I felt like these people were honestly invested in helping me make my photography trip to Tennessee a good one. After leaving I regretted not getting the womans name who helped me, as I wanted to gift her a photo if I happened to capture something amazing. If your looking for travel advice, I highly suggest this as a place to stop. The staff here are highly knowledgeable and helpful.
