Worth the park fee and then some.Its a magical space with plenty of trails!I highly recommend!Its beautiful!Its indescribable!Just a fun space.

For a $7 day pass per vehicle its well worth it. The younger kids had a blast. Very short walk to the headwaters on a path that is walkable with a stroller. Very family friendly.

Nice little drive from Bemidji MN but worth it to see where the mighty Mississippi headwaters begin, especially for this Midwestern gal who sees massive bridges built over it further down river. No one else there but us, no ability to walk on the shore (Minnesota doesnt seem to accommodate for this on most of their bodies of water.....) But overall pretty cool see at least once.

I walked across the Mississippi River and it wasnt on a bridge! How many people can say that and mean it? Absolutely a bucket list location for all folks. Bring water shoes, sunblock, towel and swim shorts! The dragonflies were a plenty and photo worthy. Dont bring your cute but unruly pets! Visitor center has outdoor informational displays and movie. Cafe and gift shop for those with heavy wallets. Water is crystal clear and warm...10% off all people in the river fell so leave phones, key fobs, cameras and wallets where theyll stay dry! (Yes, I kept track!)

Even in a downpour, walking across the Mississippi is something everyone should do. I learned some new things today.

Its beautiful. I love the fact you can touch the water and wade through it. The shop and restaurant are nice as well. We always enjoy an ice cream cone when were there! The bugs are unreal but overall amazing experience.

Dont miss the Mississippi Headwaters at Itasca State park. Fun to walk across. Nice drive beautiful views bike trails bike rentals visitors center gift shop. Cost is 7.00 per car to enter park for the day. If you are close in the area it is a must do. You can make it a quick trip or take as much time as you want. Nice wide hard surface gravel trail. The visitors center has wheelchairs for public use. Easy walk or ride for young children and older adults or disabled. Easy to find on GPS/Google Maps. Enter Mississippi Headwaters Sign . .

It was really fun to play in the water when I was like 11. I think I bought a bag of rocks or something at the gift shop.

The Headwaters are a pretty neat place to bring the family if youre in the area. The site has a plaque or two with some historical facts. You can also walk across the rocks at the waters or even wade in. There are plenty of walking and biking trails around. We went on a Sunday afternoon, and it was quite busy with visitors.

Kayaking and camping here was totally beautiful and we recommend it highly!

Fun experience! I came here as a kid 38 years ago, then today. It was fun then and fun now, although now I appreciated the history more than I did as as a kid. Playing in the water was still fun as an adult though!

The Headwaters is a must see for anyone traveling in the area, particularly if you are familiar with the mighty Mississippi river as it flows through the southern states. At its start it is perhaps 50 feet wide flowing out of Lake Itaska through a gauntlet of stepping stone into a channel perhaps half that width and only a few feet deep. It is a reminder of how something so mighty can have humble beginnings.

The Headwaters and Lake Itasca have always been a great place to go. The lake is clean and good fit fishing. The swimming beach and camping areas are well kept and nice areas!
