Beautiful spot. Will return to explore more. Signs were extremely difficult to read though and I hope there are plans to restore them.
We went for an enjoyable hike in Sunday evening to come back to the parking lot and see someone was broke to our car. They didnt get that much of value out of it, but they caused a lot of trouble for us.The trails are beautiful and wide, I wish they make the parking lot more safe with a camera.
Many types of trails in good condition. The waterfall can be skinny at times but the place is just pleasant and can provide a decent workout.
Some challenging trails, and some easy. Nice get away from the city around it.
Best path through Cougar Mountain yet!!
I really like this place, i totally recommend
Cougar Mountain Park offers a variety of different hiking opportunities. From the very easy, to incredibly challenging. All in our neck of the woods.
Good trailhead parking. Dont let the large number of cars dissuade you from taking a hike. The area is so large that within a few minutes youll be all alone with nature.
I can’t believe this trail only 10 minutes from I live. Beautiful & well maintained trail. Feel deep woods!
Parking here can fill up quick so I like to get here early. The few hikes I have done from here have all been great. The views are not the most spectacular, but from here, and through interconnections of the trails, you can access all of Cougar Mountains trails. Some of those hikes can be very steep inclines for long periods.
Great hike with a moderate elevation gain (~600 ft). Nice and shady.
Overall the trails here seem pretty nice—well-maintained and plenty wide enough for people and dogs to hike comfortably. There are a few switchbacks in places, but most of the trails are only on a slight incline throughout. The trail loop across the road has some interesting informational displays about the old former mining site that was once in the area. There are also a few beautiful streams and small waterfalls along the trail which were peaceful to look at.I will say this place doesn’t have a good parking area at all. It’s nothing more than a narrow gravel clearing without distinct parking spaces. I went there early on a Saturday in October and it was already packed with cars.
Nice trail! Parking lot small, short trails, one portable potty at trailhead. Lots of trail runners, be prepared to step aside to let them pass.
Lots of parking for accessing many great trails
Most popular trail, I think, its easy and wide.
Great access point to Cougar Mountain trails.
Nice trail system at cougar mountain. The trails are fairly easy mostly dirt but a few boardwalks.
Was ok
Nice walking path. Chance to see wildlife. (Cougar)
The parking lot is full most weekends. Great starting point for a hike.
Lots of interconnected trails, kind of choose your own adventure out there. Difficulty varies and so does trail quality. Sick to the flatter routes for train running and the more vertical ones for a challenge!
Nice hike for beginners.
I loved hiking and exploring in this area. If you live here this is a must!
Nice shaded trailhead very close to downtown Seattle. Plenty of trail options to choose from.
Its a great place to meet a date for the first time -- not too hard (in case they arent in shape), not too long but long enough to know if they can hold a conversation etc. its public enough with lots of other hikers/walkers,very local yet nice quiet setting. Its my new favorite place = )
Easy walk, only a couple of miles.
Best place to start a hike in Cougar Park
Good hikes. Close by. Nice to have in the backyard of the city!
Easy loop. Great to do with kids. Not a ton of parking.
Great trails, and the parking lot fills up quick.
Parking can be crowded.
Just a easy walk trail with normal view.
Beautiful and hypnotic
Go online to see what this area used to be like. It was a busy coal mining area and the ruins across the street from the parking lot were from a hotel i believe. I found a civil war era bullet with my metal detector while checking the creek area.
Although the parking here isnt as large as the other entrance Ive been to, this is my favorite starting spot. And FYI there are Porta Potties.
Dude. Ghost town mining relics.
Moderate hike
Multiple options.
No bike parking, and not many things besides trees to lock up to.
