Walked around here yesterday after working a half-day. Really pretty place! Its a lot bigger than I thought. Theres a lot of wildlife back here, and one cool thing currently back in the woods is a large Beaver dam. Just be aware the dam is currently causing some flooding. Cant believe Ive never been here until yesterday, and I work in Battle Creek. Ill definitely be back.
The tower was the kiddos favorite. Short trails--can do a half mile up to a couple miles. Water feature isnt very pretty (brown/green all over with plants/algae), but the woods are nice--shade a good portion of the way. Several areas that would be very muddy after rain. Saw some cute little toads.
Very nice. Need to have alot of time to get through these trails and also good walking shoes!
Great trails, will kept. Very quiet and serene.
Very serene. Well taken care of.
We love this place especially for bird watching. Their trails are very enjoyable just be careful during raining season because some of the trails get flooded. It cant be helped because of the lakes on or near the property. For a small park it provides a unique experience for everyone and a great way to get some exercise. If you love looking for butterflies then check this place out in the Spring and Summer.
Beautiful walk. Saw a lot of wild life...
We had a nice walk. Its very pretty.
This park is a gem: great paths, quiet and peaceful. Truly a great pleasure to use. It allows you a hike in the woods while staying in town.
Nice place to walk
I mean going on walks is really all we can do right now so yeah automatic 5 stars.
Weny with soulmate
The trail separates multiple times and is a perfect place for a walk in the morning.
Not as good as it used to be. Easily flooded and broken trees block the trail in a lot of places. More swamp like though so it still looks cool.
It was awesome other than walking half way through and see and security videos or at least a sign saying so. So my daughter and I got kind of creeped out as to why were being watched on hike
Former beaver pond area
Its a great hiking spot. Its fun to take your pet too.
Beautiful easy hiking. There needs to be a better trail marking system or more full maps throughout the preserve. If you dont take map at beginning there isnt another place to see full park map
Beautiful trails, even enjoyed coming across a small group of deer on our walk.
Beautiful trails. I love it.
Pretty trails. A bit muddy in some parts..not able to get through certian trails do to flooding.
Absolutely breath taking views (a photoshoot/photographers dream local), many different entrances and countless trails - some offer benches that overlook waterways - some wind around the lake - bridges, stairs, amazingly untouched forest, grasslands which are full of wildlife. Saw and heard several owls while I was there. I was there for a photo shoot and my only complaint is that we ran out of time. Please, enjoy this marvelous place as it is a great example of what Michigan has to offer in any season. Careful though, the trails are not easily accessible in muddy conditions.
Love the walk in this park. Dry woodland areas, swamps and prairies. Some areas are very muddy, so wear appropriate shoes as they will get muddy.
Great place for the community to enjoy. Sometimes the trails can be a little wet so be prepared for that. Currently theyre pretty dry.
Battle Creek’s largest park and nature preserve. Over 125 acres! Corner Helmer & Gethings Roads. Across from Keystone Lake Apartments.
Perfect legbth hikes in closed canopy old growth hardwoods.
Great easy hike
I like the area where beavers have flooded everything. Unironically though its cool.
Great safe place to hike beautiful nature trails wooded well marked with good benches for resting
Great place for a hike with your dog
I walk this trail with my dog. She loves it. Pockets of water collect in certain areas and make walking a little more difficult, but wood does were reapplied at the end of summer. . The view isnt anything special. Good distance without getting too far away from a road, its difficult to get lost. Good trail for kids to practice going on an adventure.
A nice place to walk and clear your mind. The trails are flat and well-marked and there is a trail map at the front of the parking lot.
What used to be the nicest park in Battle Creek is now an unusable mess. Beavers have taken over the lake south of the park and their damming has raised the water levels and made all trails south of the Helmer Road entrance unusable. Their destruction has also caused many trees to fall over the existing trails blocking them.None of the grass covered trails have been mowed so on the short end grass is shin high, on the high end grass is waist high and full of ticks. All the signposts have been vandalized and destroyed.ATV riders sneak onto the trails and use them for off roading further eroding the trails and causing ruts in the trails. For this place to have any chance to be usable again :1. The beavers need to be curtailed and their dams removed to allow the water levels to lower2. Cut the grass or remove the grass trails with a ground cover that will be lower maintenance3. Stricter enforcement of the no motorized vehicles on the trails rule.
Woodland Park and Nature Preserve is Battle Creek’s largest park. Boosting over 145 acres and is open 365 days a year!
Beautiful scenery good place to go hiking see a lot of Wildlife
Its a great place to hike in Battle Creek. Half the time you dont even know youre in the city, til a train goes by. But other than that, it is very quiet.
There were blackberries as far as the eye could see! There was a water pump where we got fresh, cold water along the way. There were lots of deer - I guess they like berries, too!
Always fun to walk around the trails here. Can be muddy at times and some trails are impassable when it floods. Lots of birds, deer, beavers, and frogs.
Quiet and clean. My wife and I enjoyed the park and each other.
I left, didn’t know where to start plus it was a creepy man in the truck just sitting there.
This place is waaaay bigger than I thought it was. Beautiful.
Look forward to hitting this trail in the spring
The park is a mess. Beavers have chopped down hundreds of trees which has caused flooding on most of the trails .
Battle Creeks largest park! 145 acres great for back packing, hiking etc.
Great place to walk the dogs. Nice wooded trails
Excellent short trails for an easy forest getaway.
Great place close to home to unwind. And new trail posts.
Great place to go for a quick walk but if its been raining some of the trails may be mushy due to theswamp areas.
Qiuet. Beautiful. Wildlife.
Great family place to go and hike
Trails are well maintained. Beautiful nature.
