First time. Thumbs up! A few hours is not long enough to experience the whole zoo. We went straight to the giraffes as that was the whole reason we went. We live right by Potter park zoo in Lansing mi but theres no giraffe or zebra so that was awesome to be able to feed the giraffe by hand! Cheetahs were also awesome to see. Nice and friendly staff. Family had a great time!

The best zoo in Michigan! We love bringing our toddler here and the best part is feeding the giraffes. So many animals to see around every corner. We love the safari section getting to see lions, zebras, ostriches, and so much more. The food selection is great for everyone. The gift shops are really amazing too.

The zoo was nice. Decently priced. Like always, you never know if and when animals will be out and active, but even the sleeping lions could be seen. It was a nice zoo to walk, the walk to Africa is not bad but the tram is recommended if you have a heavier stroller/wagon or are not up for walking because it is a bit of a hike. We enjoyed our visit!

All the more exotic animals have been moved to safari side and waiting for the tram can take forever because they seat every other (covid restrictions) and its a 15 min walk otherwise. Only one food shop and souvenir shop are open but now only on safari side so youll have to wait for the tram or walk it. Paid for a membership but it just doesnt seem to really be worth it because a lot of their animals are gone or you have to hike to get to them. Sorry trying to do that with a three year old isnt the easiest. Next time Ill just save my money and go to John ball.

Its much larger than Potter Park Zoo. They have transportation to the safari section, which is nice. Because of Covid, many areas/attractions were closed. Menu prices for the restaurant were kind of high. Cheapest food item, side of fries; 4.00. An ice cream cone 5.50. No water fountains, obviously, but they didnt even offer cheap bottled water. Admission for 5 (2 adults 3 kids older than 2) was 80$. The staff were friendly, park was clean. Id visit again, but next time I would prepare better.

One of the BEST zoos in the MidWest! We went 7/13/2020.Free parking and the price to get in is not crazy. The tram to the African section is also free, but there is also an option to walk half a mile there if you wanted. We arrived when they opened to try and avoid crowds and lines. It did get busy towards the end of our trip, but people were maintaining distance.Probably their best exhibit is the over 17acre enclosure for their giraffes, zebras, ostriches and a few type of deer. THAT is what every zoo should have for giraffes (not a small, less then half an acre of dirt to walk on and live in).The opportunity to feed the giraffes is amazing. Some complain that the prices for the lettuce to feed is high, but I feel that is to be expected.I wish some of the other exhibits were a bit larger, they seem to have the space to expand them. They all were informative about the animals, and had multiple view points to best see the animals. The huts, decorations and signs in the Zuri (African part) were a great touch. It made us feel more immersedThe wandering peacocks were nice to see. One peahen even had three young babies with her.Took about two hours to go through the zoo, and we took our time with many of the animals. I did not visit the childrens part of the zoo, but from what I saw, it seemed nice. There were swings and a jungle set for kids to play on.COVID-19 procedures: Most people were respectful and waited their turns, no crowding. The new safety measures did make the wait for the Tram slower, as they could not fill the seats. The wait for feeding the Giraffes also was beginning to get long, as they were maintaining distance there as well.ONE NEGATIVE: the prices of drinks/food are high. And much of their gift shop as well. There are a FEW items for under $15 so maybe you can get something for your child or yourself without breaking the bank.BUT you can always bring food and exit the zoo to eat. Save your receipt to get back in.*Also, parents, please do NOT let your children chase the peacocks. Was very disappointed when I saw a young boy chasing a peacock and the parents did nothing about it.

Great family fun! We like to go once a year and its always a great value for money and good time with family. There are usually guides out with smaller animals so you can have up close encounters. Peacocks everywhere which the kids love. I like the swamp trail myself, just to enjoy nature. Drinks/snacks are same price as any other outing.. a little overpriced. The dining hall food is not so great. I would recommend packing a picnic and eating at one of the benches. Something for everyone

A great zoo with a wide variety of animals. The zoo itself covers a large area leaving plenty of space. We were there on a very busy day, but with the layout of the zoo we never felt crowded out of an attraction, nor did we feel like we had to avoid certain areas. The staff were friendly and informative and were very proactive when the line to enter the zoo was longer than normal. The giraffes were awesome and easy to get to by foot ( .5 mile walk) or by tram. Definitely a place worth visiting multiple times!

Me and the fam had loads of fun at Michigans largest zoo! The main part of the zoo is cool - platforming a diverse array of wildlife, but Wild Africa is what really sets this zoo apart from all others. Going on a safari, feeding the giraffes, and getting up close and personal with Africas carnivores - lions, cheetahs, and painted wolves - oh yeah! - made every twist and every turn in this zoo truly spectacular! Both parts of the zoo have their own restaurant and gift shop and are truly unique. However, I would recommend making your trip here on all day event, because it takes 5+ hours to see everything.

The best part was being able to feed the giraffes. You get so close to them, even my 4 year old was able to feed the shorter giraffes which still allowed her to be behind the fence. Binder Park Zoo is one of the best things SW Michigan has to offer. It may not be as flashy as other zoos, but its an amazing form of entertainment and education at a low price. All tickets are under $15, and even the yearly memberships are affordable at just $80 for two people. Snacks and the gift shop are a little pricey in comparison, but youre really paying to support the zoo and its education and conservation efforts-- I try to buy something every time I go just for that. The giraffes, petting zoo, and Tushar, the red panda, are some of the highlights. I cannot say enough good things about the zoo!

Review №39

Ive been to this zoo multiple times. The only exhibits worthwhile are the bear exhibit and the giraffe exhibit. All the other animals just lay around looking depressed. I always go first thing in the morning to ensure this doesnt happen because animals are more active in the morning. The bear exhibit could be better if they replaced the glass or cleaned it. Its always super cloudy. The giraffe exhibit is super cool but lettuce costs a lot. $2 for a piece and $8 for 5. Save your money and take a day trip to the Detroit Zoo. It blows this one away!

Review №40

If you want a very nice, small zoo come here. Covid-19 and recent storms have made less of the zoo accessible. True, but, its less than $15 per person to visit. Youre going to see lions, giraffes, and bears for less than a sad meal at the local B-Dubs. I honestly dont know what the complaints are about (for the price). If you travel hours to get here, expect a world class city zoo (think: San Diego Zoo or Bronx Zoo), and are leaving a 1-star review after paying lunch money to see it, youre writing a review about yourself, not the zoo.

I absolutely have always loved binder park zoo. Its clean and everything is labeled great so you know where youre going. The petting zoo part is so cute! The goats are just adorable and I love that you can feed them. We didnt get to see many exhibits because we had to leave early, not because of anything to do with the zoo though. What we did get to see was nice. I just wish we wouldve made it to wild Africa. But we will go back and see everything. I tried to get pictures and I know some are blurry and the sloth is not easy to see lol overall I give it 5 stars!

Some things were closed and you do pay full price but just think of it as helping the cute animals. The only thing that didn’t sit too well with me was AFTER we paid they told us they closed an hour earlier than what’s advertised on their website and what’s advertised at the entrance of the zoo. We came from out of town so we didn’t want to disappoint the kiddos so we RUSHED on through. Not sure if I missed something...so that’s why I rated 4 stars instead of 5.
