My children and I love this park, we bring blankets to eat out, feed the ducks, run the trail and i like to find a seat meditate and get grounded. Its always many people to socialize with.
Nice place to walk around the lake. Nice place to have a BBQ. Nice place to tie off a hammock. Nice place to put a towel on the ground under a tree and just chill. Nice place to launch a kayak or something that floats on the lake. Its just a nice place to go and be yourself. This place is awesome.
Love running here, but the bathroom is hardly ever open. When it is open, its pretty disgusting. Also, asphalt path along canal desperately needs to be redone (uneven and lots of trip hazards). Considering how many people use the park, one would think BREC would put more resources toward upkeep (and updating).
Love running both lakes, 5 miles to be exact :)
The park borders LSU lakes and provides easy access to running / walking paths. There are fitness stations and filtered water foundations located on site in addition to picnic tables and a restroom facility. The restroom almost always needs attention - it rarely has soap & toilet paper and the toilet is often filthy. Parking is limited which results in the lot being fully occupied during peak fitness times and seasons. I suggest arriving early and carpooling if youre visiting with a group.
An awesome place for walk, jog, biking and kayaking.
Went today with my dog. Did the whole 4 plus mile walk around the big lake. Enjoyed it very much. Beautiful ducks, docks, benches. Bikes for rent as well. Walk through the Greek area of college town.
It was a wonderful place to visit. It was my first time there. Very spacious and quiet.
Beautiful sunset. Our scouts went canoeing and enjoyed the experience.
Peaceful park to walk 0r sit by lake.
A very peaceful and clean place to walk and spend time with family.
Good place to walk and jog though certain areas are rather tight in places and the trail can be very narrow at times particularly when there are multiple walkers, joggers and bicyclists.A separate bike lane would be nice but everyone is pretty good about moving to the side for others to pass. Some areas are somewhat isolated and the entire distance around the lake is a bit over 4 miles so its best to walk in pairs or during the day.
Went walking around the pond it was nice it was hot but it was enjoyable
Great place to park and watch the sunset. My dog and I walk around the lakes often, and we usually park here.
Theyve got ducks, so go duck yourself here.
Nice place to relax and enjoy the lovely view.
Watched the fireworks from the beach. It was fun!
Very lovely views, and great place to relax
Great place to bike ride.
Great placevtobwalk and relax
Great place for a walk, run, bike ride or to get a peace of mind!
Clean restroom and clean atmosphere
Is this the LSU lakes park? Everything seems in order 5 stars
This is by far my favorite place in the city. The trails are great for walking, running, jogging, and even bike riding. The lake and wildlife are an absolute joy to watch. Come out for a picnic or exercise...you wont be disappointed!
Love the serenity of the walking path
The park is always clean with lovely views. There are benches, a dock, and launch for kayaks and paddle boards. Theres often fun events here such as the sunset paddle. It can be a little bit busy at times since its a very popular park, but its really quite lovely.
Great spot to start your walk. So many options/ distances to pick.
Beautiful walk around the lakes but the path could use an update.
Nice chill spot
Sheer beauty in a walk. I did half the lake which is a 5 miles and it was wonderful through and through if you just want to go for a walk with some friends or exercise I would deeply suggest doing.
Amazing kayak spot and paddle board lake
Awesome park for everyone
Very nice for running or walking. Gets breezy and the temperature is usually a bit lower than further away from the lake. Helps to cool down during the hot days. View is really soothing.
Its with a heart to explore and experience a new sea food known as CrawFish. This is a Louisiana local food. If you havent tested it you havent been to Louisiana. I met Christy I wonderful beautiful lady that take us around and she bragged about CrawFish and she won me. We bought it and Straight to Milford Wampold Memorial Park where we eat our CrawFish with the group of Transfer Program International Students in the Picture. The Part is well arrange with wonderful car Park, clean lake, very clean environment to walk out, picnic, fishing, canoe ride and lot more. I LOVE U Louisiana
I dont remember going here
Visiting from San Antonio and first time in Baton Rouge. I recommend anyone to come walk in the evening around sunset. It wont disappoint.
Um... Its a park. A rather small one at that. Beautiful scenery across the lake though and it seems calm and secure. Theres a small boat launch too that seems like it would be great for small pleasure craft. Clean and safe, seems great for a picnic or early morning run on some of their trails.
Great spot to meet up for a run. Got a little boat launch to put in your kayak or small watercraft. Lakes not too big but be careful going out in the wind lest you get stuck on the other side.
This park is great if you want to use the boat launch, or if you just want to take a walk or run around the park. Theres a nice beachfront area, and a dock where you can put a kayak or a boat into the water and gain access to the lake easily. If you go for a walk, there are a few different Loops that measure between 3 and 6 miles, which is nice if you want a long, reliable run or walk. My only complaint, is that people leave the picnic area quite messy, with shells from crawfish and crabs and Bones from chickens, which is unsafe for the dogs.
Its a great place to park to use the biking and walking/running trails around the lakes. Its also a great place to launch kayaks or SUPs
I really enjoy coming her to wait on my husband to get off from work. You can look at the beautiful lake and trees. This a great place to exercise. Or enjoy the view.
This a great place for a good walk or run
Used to be nice when the grass was kept cut and the sand beach was maintained. Unfortunately this park has gone down.
Nice place to take a break from post game traffic.
This park is so well-attended that I had trouble finding parking in the late evening! This is a great problem to have, because it makes me feel safer to have so many other park-goers there at the same time. The view is great. Theres a beautiful path around the water, and beautiful architecture on the other side. The sorority and fraternity buildings are very nice looking.
An motivating place to walk run and spend time with loved ones..I go there all the time to run and break a sweat
Well maintained public park with a large lake. Great for kayaking, biking, walking & picnicking. Close to LSU.
Its a great place run around the lake
Beautiful scenery great place to workout
Nice little park with good view..
Great place to walk around. Nice spot for a picnic or crawfish boil.
This place is great for walking jogging or even just a picnic...
Nice spot to drop in a kayak. The lake is very shallow.
Great park to run. I love it here. Its safe and well kept. Its also dog friendly which i and my pup love! :-)
Great spot to park to run around the lakes!
Wonderful walk on the bank. Weather was very comfortable.
You cant beat this place as a start point for a nice run around University Lake. (Its about four miles) As a running path, its flat, theres a variety of shaded spaces and nicely landscaped lakeside homes for eye candy. Accessible parking lot, restrooms, even some fitness stations for warm ups. Enough space to launch kayaks.
Ok. Nice until a group of highschool kids and their coach came to use the park as their training grounds.
Peaceful
Nice community park. Usually adequate parking.
Nice to walk or jog.
Police patroled. Fun for any age. Aminiries.
Pretty lame to take a stroll or run through, always guaranteed to see birds and occasionally some other wildlife
Great park with a nice place to walk. Security is bothersome after hours.
It is very nice to come to the park even on a sunny day.
Fun, easy ramp for paddlesports. Plenty of room, but parking at a premium on weekends with nice weather.
Its pretty, quiet, and pretty much on campus
Its a good place, pacefull and good people i really enjoyed a full day right here
Wonderful place. We had a great time!!
Would be nice if the restrooms were cleaned and stocked on sat/Sun mornings
Need more parking lot lighting. It was dark and sketchy. Always run with a buddy especially after sunset.
Nice place
Best place on lsu campus for long walks and runs. Relatively safe area so evening is a good time to come here after work. You can do small picnic, bring your boat and fishing gears too.
Never been
My favorite place to kayak and watch the sun come up!
Very beautiful and serene park. Love it!
One of the best places to hang and enjoy the sun and water
Beautiful. Only issues were aggressive ants near any seating area & disgusting restrooms
I love the LSU lakes! Great place to walk my dog, ride my bike, or just have a relaxing picnic and a nap!
Very nice atmosphere and scenic, walking, biking trail.
Great place to relax and exercise. Each lake is about 4 miles in circumference and the surrounding trails are safe and scenic
This is where I start my run everytime and it gives you that motivation due to its pleasant and calm ambience!
Beautiful
Quiet thinking place
Nice little park. Decent sized parking lot, but it easily fills up during busy timea. Nice spot in the path around the whole lake.
