A very small but diverse museum located on the LSU campus. It focused mostly on animals but there was a small section devoted to rocks and fossils. The animal collection was extensive from giant polar bears to a large bird collection. My favorite was the insect collection at the entrance.
Pretty cool for a small museum to check out when you gotta kill time and its free!
Visited it whilst in the state for a wedding. The variety of exhibits is interesting and educational, but I feel that having 80% of the huge, boasted collection be a single insect display is cheating slightly. The staff were friendly and helpful but were hesitant to share the visitors WiFi access, which made hiring an Uber home slightly difficult.
If youve never been - then you dont know what youre missing. There is a LOT going on here, tons of exhibits and very knowledgeable staff. If you see an event going on here - go to at least one - Ive never been disappointed.Valerie and Tammy are the ladies I normally interact with - and they are both wonderful and knowledgeable and very helpful!
You can see several extinct species in this nice bird collection.
Fun little musuem with a Mike the Tiger exhibit.
Have so many diversity of species and they are so authentic you can actually think they are alive
Great visit learned so much about nature qould defiantly come back again.
Great free resource for teachers and kids. The collection is on the smaller side, but very localized to our area, which is informative to study local fauna/flora. The scavenger hunt helps you tho find details you might have otherwise missed.
Great update to the exhibits with the iPads along the dioramas. Lots of information. Could it be made available online
Quiet, peaceful, great animal collection
I recently went on a field trip. Kind creepy, not gonna lie, and after going inside, I started to feel kinda sick. Its ok, but the stuffed animals part is scary, and it makes me want to crawl under my blankets and hide from the cruel world.
Very interesting variety of animals.
