This park is beautiful. There is some wildlife like geese and turtles that seem to chill by the water frequently. Theres a cool boardwalk that goes right through an overgrown forest section, which is really pretty. They keep the park well maintained too, with the people who work there even cleaning up the litter. If you have kids, there is also a giant grassy area with a playground too. If you have dogs, there are stations here with bags too. Lake Roland is awesome.

So grateful to have this nice, accessible refuge from city life. An easy walking path and short trails are available, with a friendly staff to answer questions. Great childrens activities and a playground. Gazebos may be rented for events. There is a membership dog park on site, too. Some people bring kayaks and/or fishing gear, though I wouldnt recommend the latter. The water is not that clean - leave the poor fish alone! Nice to picnic near the sound of the dam waters flowing, and people do a good job of cleaning up after themselves to keep the area clear of trash. Parking onsite, or use the light rail and walk in through the wonderful wooden path from the Park and Ride lot.

I have to honestly say that Lake Roland is DEFINITELY the Most Beautiful Park there is in the state of Maryland and also in Baltimore County. Like ever since back in March that when I first visited Lake Roland, I immediately fell in with this park. And so in love to the fact that for one, when I first started to listen to an oldie, but goodie song that came out in the 80s in which everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY love and sample their music to this song which is called Moments in Love by Art of Noise and that every time I come to Lake Roland, the Moments in love song had became my anthem when I go there so thats the first thing. And then second is that I actually did a video on June 14, 2018 where I said that I love coming to Lake Roland so much that I said that I want to invite both of my favorite WWE Hall of Famer Superstars Trish Stratus AND Amy Lita Dumas to come to this beautiful park. So yeah, what a beauty of Lake Roland and that how I wish and hoping that I will still to continue visiting my secret getaway. And here are some of my memories for the past 6 months of my love affair with Lake Roland that I hope you all can enjoy!

One of the better parks around. It has nice playground for kids, covered picnic areas/tables, running trails, dog park and Nature Center (small but very good with stuffed animals and few playing options for kids). Parking is at Falls Rd Light rail station and always has free spots. Or you can go by car to the other side of the park/lake and park there but not a lot of parking spots available. Park rangers are very nice and helpful and they keep the park very clean. Five stars

Great trails to run, but they get a little sloppy after rain (like a really fun mud obstacle course). The dog park is well kept, animals need to be leashed, and Im thankful people are ticketed if dogs are off leash. The boardwalk is so pretty and great to see deer and birds. Nature center and programs and staff are top notch!

I would suggest that supervisors train their staff (or supervisors attend their own training) around connecting interpersonal relations. Lovely natural play areas with some traditional playground elements, like swings, slides and climbing features, but also a sandbox, mud pit, climbing and scrambling elements made from felled trees.Great paved paths for walking in the park and trails for running, hiking and biking all around the lake. A very nice, if modest, nature center staffed by knowledgeable and helpful rangers. I used to bring my dog here for freeplay and swimming before the county took over with its upgrades and rules, so Ill reserve from sharing my opinion as to THOSE tradeoffs. But, with improved maintenance and supervision of the park, the quality programming (including nature camp options for kids during the summer) and the boardwalk from the Light Rail station, its undeniably a great place for all ages.

Despite what the prior reviews have stated, the practice of off leash dogs and poop everywhere is not accurate. Our family goes here to walk our dogs and to run/bike and I have never had an issue with either scenario. The layout is great-you can park on one side of the lake and be a stones throw from the spillway with access to fishing or park near the metro station and take the elevated wooden bridge path through the covered canopy. There is a plethora of wildlife ranging from groundhogs to deer, I even spotted a turtle this afternoon. I would feel safe in recommending this area for joggers, as there are cameras throughout the park and trail system.
