I take my Lab to this park twice day. The park opens early and closes late. Depending on the time and day it can be crowded or deserted. Both are fun for my dog. The park is quite large and has a course sand surface that is easy on the dog’s joints but unfortunately sticks to any ball.
All the times that weve been here, the other dogs have been super friendly/ not aggressive. The reason I am giving it 3 stars is cause its not super clean. Theres a lot of poo in the play area, we only take Oliver there before hes due a bath. The fountain is open during the summer and our pup loves the water, just that he definitely needs a bath after.
Spacious, clean, and well lit dog park conveniently located just a few blocks off the main drag
Poor drainage. These photos were taken a couple days after we had a light snow. The dogs pee and poop in the water and then play in it and even drink it. We cant go to the park on days like this without throwing our dog in the bath immediately afterward. The good thing about this park is that its convenient for a lot of people. However, it could really benefit from better design.Besides the drainage, two other areas where it could improve include 1) the sand. The sand isnt pleasant and I think it prevents a lot of the park from being used, since people and dogs alike do not venture to the far end of the park often, and 2) lack of shade. I think this park could really benefit from additional shade during the summer. There really is no shade.
Cute just for dogs though social distancing but no masks I wouldnt go too close to anyone
As many other reviewers have said, the fine sand at this dog park makes it extremely messy. We cant bring our dog here without giving her a bath afterwards, so we generally avoid going. We occasionally take our dog here on the way to get a bath. Please put grass in the park instead of sand!
Great park with a good layout and always plenty of dogs and their friendly owners. Only issue is the main part is sand instead of fine rocks like other parks and it gets muddy. We always have to bring a towel and usually have to give a bath afterwards.
So many great puppers and people. I wish I could stop by every day.
The owners of the dogs come from 5:30am to after 9:00pm. They are our alarm clock everyday. Unless they fight the owners are on cell phones, talking to each other or drinking coffee. They have absolutely no respect for people who live next to the park. There are noise laws and barking dogs qualify in effect from 7:00am to 10pm.The dog owners dont care how disruptive their dogs are.
VERY clean, cool water feature and drinking fountains (for both dogs and people)
This place is so very nice. The dogs love it and even if you do not have a dog it is nice to watch them and chat outside the fence with a friend.
My dogs loved visiting this dog park. We visited during summer time. I wish there was more shades for the dogs! Dogs were very hot!
Friendly people and dogs. River got plenty of exercise.
Fun Park area for the dog. Our GSD wasnt too keen on the water feature but the labradoodle loved it. Plenty of space and other friendly ppl. Mostly medium/large dogs. We few smaller.
Very nice dog park in Clarendon. Would prefer artificial turf to the sand they have down but the dogs do seem to like it. Plenty of room for pups to roam and run even in busy after work hours. For some reason there is a fountain that is on from about memorial day to labor day. Dogs get super nasty if they go in it and then run in sandy main area. Five star review is for the park when fountain is off.
In terms of location/convenience in the area, this park cant be beat. Theres really no other places where you can take your dog to run around within walking distance of the Clarendon area. That being said it probably wouldnt be my first choice if I had a choice...Most of the park is covered in fine gravel/sand, so my dog is guaranteed to need a bath even after a 15 minute visit. Theres also zero shade, so prepare to sit in the hot sun. Aside from that, its well maintained and has a waterfall feature which is nice (but again leads to your dog getting dirty).
I do not have a Dog, but I like going here to watch people play with their Dogs.
The only fenced in dog park in the Clarendon area. Includes nice water features for the dogs, plenty of sandy space to run around in, free poop bags, tables and chairs for owners, and safety gates to keep pups from getting out while theyre off leash. Its also open until 9 PM, which is great for dog owners who work late and need their dogs to burn off extra energy before bedtime. Most dogs and dog owners who frequent the park are friendly and sociable. Great place to play!
Large open area for our little runner to stretch her legs! Almost always at least one other dog to play with. Most all dogs here are well socialized, friendly, and quiet!
This park is fantastic. It is convenient, clean, and always full of friendly dogs. There are benches and tables outside the dog area to sit and read.
Good place to have a little stroll for our beloved dogs.
I brought my dog here and he was humped immediately a lot. He is the cutest, that is why. I was humped, too. Best park, 5 stars if you like to be humped. I certainly do!
It was better when it first opened and the waterfall and pool area worked. They have since shut that part of the park down, for reasons unknown. I have small Boston Terriers that get overheated. Im not sure if its longstanding maintenance issues or if residents complained for some reason, but itd be nice if they got that working again. If you dont want your dog to play in the water, keep them away from it.
Fantastic! On the whole this park is great. The only negative is that you have to self-police the owners of aggressive dogs. The park is clean, has a fountain that puppies love, water fountains and benches. We LOVE it almost as much as Mr. Fuzzyface!
Beautiful place for people with pets. Pets enjoy a lot the amenities. Water, playground, etc. Very safe and controlled.
My labs love it here.
Nice park, but Im completely surprised how many people leave their poop out. And are plenty of bags available, people just dont care to pick up your dogs poop. In a dog park. Go figure.
Nice space, but people dont pick up after their dogs.
Great dog park! Double gate for secure entry. Water feature is cool.
A really great park with a water feature and huge sandy area for the dogs to play.
This is the swankiest dog park Ive ever seen. Theres a waterfall wading pool!
Plenty of room for dogs to run and plenty of shade to cool off in
Dog park with plenty of room to run, waterfall and wading pool, fresh water, and free poop bags.
Best dog park in NOVA Odd hours advertised as closed for maintenance MWF mornings but open anyway. Arlington parking is expensive but this is worth it.
Good place for dogs, would be better if certain dog owners cleaned up after their pet.
Yes, this park is the Clarendon dog park. This is a very nice park, a huge play area and very well maintained. However, dont bring your dog here if he weights under 30 lbs. The reason is because most of the other dogs run free (which is fine), but there are no areas for smaller dogs / puppies. Everytime I come here, my dog ends up at the bottom of dog pile and freaks him out. If your dog is over 30 lbs and is at least a year old, its a great place to go.
Friendly people and dogs. Big enough where you do not trip over other dogs and dogs can run.
My pup loved it here. Much less e coli than shirlington
I am in a wheelchair so it is hard to find a good dog park that is accessible. I was realy excited to see astroturf along the edges which is great for rolling. Even though the water feature was not working my service dog happily splashed away. There is little to no shade but waterfountaind for the dogs and their humans. The people are really nice here too. The only downfall is people not picking up after their dogs so the astroturf can also be a minefield.
The best dog park around. A lot of local puppers with a lot of space
Very nice park otherwise but the gravel they used on most of the park is way too coarse for dogs and ends up causing hurt paws
Dogs love it
This place has a water feature. What more is there to say
Good
About what youd expect from a $1.5 million dog park.
Great!!!!!!!!!!
Water fountain to swim in?! Yes!!!
Dog park with a waterfall
Friendly dog park.
Very comfortable and safe for my friend.
No trees. Often too many dogs.
Great dog park.
Dirty and not shaded at all.
Always dogs there
Its got all the advantages of a dog park with a lake, but no mud!
Love it
Great dog park
Its close to my apartment, provides oppd for my pup to run and socialize, is large, and free poop bags!
I like the park and so does my dog, but he ingested some of the water from the fountain and had diarrhea for almost 2 days afterwards.
