Beautiful nature area in the heart of Ann Arbor. The pathways lead you to see plenty of gorgeous flowers, hills and native plants. You can also see the Huron River as it flows towards the southeast. Many people walk or jog through it and theres bench areas for sitting or having a picnic. Ticks may be in the area so wearing long pants is recommended for better protection.
Fantastic place for a walk, run, stroll, or picnic. We love taking our dogs here and they love all the trails and ground we can explore. Stunning views year round. Some of the trails can get slippery so be mindful of your footwear.
Great place to have a hike. There are hills, big meadows, hiking trails, running trails. Huron river also goes through the park. You can also enjoy the peony garden in the spring. Overall its a great place for relaxing.
Very large area with varying terrains, from the beautifully-maintained peony garden at the front, to the river-side walk, to the open grass plains. Its also got decent hills, with legit hiking trails for being smack-dab in the middle of downtown. Overall, a great place!
Always a great place for a mid-day walk, a nice jog through or a picnic (pre-covid of course). The flowers during spring are beautiful and the air feels crisp in the fall. I cant wait to take my next walk through!
Gorgeous winding trails, views of the Huron River, expansive fields of mowed grass to lounge, and education about the plants and trees around every bend.Parking is a limitation. Check website for regular updates on Covid-19 precautions and closures.
Arb is possibly the best place in Ann Arbor. Multiple trails for a great run/ walk and outdoor activities and picnics
Went there for the first time in the fall. The colors are stunning. Im sure its a beautiful place anytime of the year.
This is probably the best place in Ann Arbor. I love going for walks here. Sometimes I will go tubing down the Hearon River and get out here. I will go on picnics here. It’s just a great refuge from the city it feels like you’re in the middle of a forest. You definitely have to go here if you’re in Ann Arbor.
This was a very nice place to go and walk, and see wildflowers. Its all up hill on the way back, a great work out.
An absolutely beautiful place to go on a walk, take your dogs, watch the birds, and enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by nature without having to leave the comfort of civilization. Be careful not to let your dogs off leash on a crowded day because the park caretakers will get annoyed, but in the morning or evening its usually fine. Also check out the river and the peonie garden because theyre absolutely gorgeous.
Had a great walk with our family of four and our puppy. Lots of trails and scenery. We enjoyed the river at the end of our walk.
A beautiful nature-filled paradise in Ann Arbor. Thoroughly enjoyed walking through here while visiting the city. Plenty of well trodden paths, but also some routes to let yourself get lost in the wilderness. I imagine the gardens look fantastic in the spring and summer but it was the autumn foliage in the wooded areas that were on display in October. Very tranquil down by the river, trying to spot (unsuccessfully) the Blue Heron. Feels quite safe in the day with all the students using it for exercising, but could become quite lonely at night.
Outstanding nature area on thr Huron River with an abundance of trails.
The water is clear. it feels good to sit in the chairs alongside the river bank enjoying the views. unfortunately, i saw quite a lot of littering including a face mask hanging on a tree. hope those who did this to be fined $1000
Its kind of amazing how such an enormous Green Space can be hidden in the heart of Ann Arbor, but if you live within an hour of the city, you should not miss it, especially during spring and fall
What a nice park. It has well defined paths free of poison ivy. As our two families walked through the park, I counted no less than six different varieties of flowers just next to the path. The kids loved the large meadow, but spent most of their time playing by the rapids in the water. A great day to sit in the shade on a bench. I place that you can visit time and time again. You wont be able to see everything in just one day.
Walk, run, crawl or climb get your heart rate up, smell the wonderful conifers, pines, wild flowers and more. Hilly, long winding paths, a time to reflect and center. A hidden oasis in the middle of college town. Don’t ask about parking, do the best you can - often a walk. I love the Arb. Breath deep and surround yourself with the vibrations of Nature.
Beautiful and spacious. So many trails. Nice balance of wooded and open space
So gorgeous. You feel like you arent even in the city.
Saw a printed piece of art at The Graduate Hotel that mentioned this place and when I saw it was just over a mile walk from the hotel I ventured out one afternoon. Loved walking the trails and seeing everything that was there even in winter when not much is in bloom. Snow made it fun to watch for tracks of different wildlife (squirrels and raccoons) and even domesticated animals (plenty of dog tracks!). Definitely want to plan a proper trip here when Im back in town.
Went when the peonies were blooming. Awesome trails for a beautiful walk. Parking can be tough. Well worth a visit
Great place to hike. Dog friendly, too (though the water needs to be turned on for the dog drinking fountains).
Amazing place to go for a walk /run. Clear trails and signage, wonderful wildflowers. A place to get away from the din of the city.
A arboretium in an urban location. Great staff who enthusiastically teach and explain about the environment. Lovely place, thoughtfully designed.
A classic spot to visit in Ann Arbor and a delightful all season natural space for connecting with nature. Grab a map at the office or follow Google maps paths. Visitors can walk as long as three miles or as short as one. Signaling is not the best and as any arboretum, theres no restrooms facilities except the entrance facing UofM hospital. Sometimes theres a portable potty near the river. In Covid-19 times, please yield space for social distancing since it gets crowded, specially weekends. Kid friendly with a troll/fairy space for natural building.
What a gem! When you walk in you are transported to a serene forest and you can completely forget you are right in the middle of a bustling city. Explore miles of trails filled with various flowers, plants, and trees along the river. You can also relax in the peony garden or stroll along the river. You will find a map to guide you near each entrance. Some trails are well marked and easy to travel, with a few a bit more rustic. It can be a bit of a climb but the views are worth it. We found parking to be a bit of a challenge at the Gateway Garden. I would have liked to see more plants and trees marked/labeled as we enjoy learning about plants and adding variety in our yard. All in all a refreshing way to spend a few hours.
Love the Arb. Make sure you check out the website for events including the peonies annual bloom and Shakespeare in the Park. If you venture a nice walk on a warm day head down to the river landing to dip your toes in the water.
Cant really go wrong spending an afternoon here. Quiet, very peaceful.
What a wonderful place. So peaceful. So calming and nice
Very beautiful place to visit and explore
So lovely! The Peonies were blooming and beautiful.
Being from Miami this place makes me want to move to the great North. Then I remember their 7 or so months of cold.... Anyhow, the trails are well kept and we saw chipmunks, ground hogs, black squirls all sorts of colorful birds and bumble bees. Really a nice place to come and have a picnic and read a book. Take bug spray though. Some bite...
Beautiful Pianese!
Huge variety of peonies and collection of other plant species. biggest collection of peonies species in USA. Has trails for people who prefers walk, river bank scenery is good. Parking is free at nearby blue parking after hours.
Love it... Especially the peonie garden.
Always love a good walk through the arb. Beautiful and I hope it never changes!
Several walking trails. Fun little spots here and there.
Great arboretum. Peonies are in bloom in last week of May till second week of June. We enjoy the walk to the river during summer.
This was one of my favorite spots to wander/run while in Ann Arbor. Its always beautiful, regardless of the weather.
Easy to get to, easy to moderate level trails, access to the Huron river.
Had a Apt. there it is always a Nice and Friendly Staff. If you need something done Right. Go to U of M. Always enjoy Ann Arbor something New to look at. Thanks for doing it Right the First Time
It is one of Ann Arbors gems, and perfect to visit in this period of social distancing.
Great place to enjoy nature but some steep hills could be a challenge for walkers with health problems.
Beautiful nature area adds perfect contrast to the urban surrounding. They have a peony garden, I seem to miss the blooms every year. Maybe this year
Nice hike with a pretty river at the bottom.
Stunning, breath-taking, picturesque... I could keep going, but suffice it to say, the Arb is a treasure! Its worth the pain of parking
Great place for a walk to get a break from the city while staying right in the city. Especially amazing in June when peonies are blooming.
One of my favorite places to take pictures at regardless of the season. Features inside and outside plants and flowers. Beautiful outdoor walking trails, tropical indoor space, and a whole room dedicated to cacti. A must-see in Ann Arbor!
Great hills for trail running! Dogs are not always kept on leashes as instructed but most owners are friendly.
Very pretty even in the falk
The peonys are spectacular if you go during late May and June!
Great place. Not very pretty in the winter but this is where our daughter was proposed to over a decade ago so we stopped by on our visit at Christmas time. A nice quiet tranquil place that is beautiful in the summer.
Peony is full bloom.
Beautiful, well-maintained space. Parking can be difficult, so keep that in mind when planning trips (if you arent walking distance).
Lots of trail choices and some genuinely steep hills. The meadow is a popular hangout and the peony garden draws a big crowd especially on weekends. At the gate by the hospital (nearest the cemetery) theres a visitor center with drinks for purchase. Dont miss the old trees from the 18th century (!), older than the town. Fair to say this is not the cherry tree Washington allegedly chopped down.
We love to come see the peonies in the early summer and fairy houses anytime of year
Nice place near Huron River with various collections of plants
Despite this covid nonsense, this place was still open. Very beautiful plants and wildlife. Lots of trails to go exploring in the woods.
The peony garden is amazing and beautiful. They are usually in bloom around the first week of June, and its a must see attraction.Just beyond the peonies is a fairy garden thats a blast for kids. They can walk through and look at all the fairy houses, and build their own.
A great park w/ plenty of picnicing space & a number of trails w/ interesting nature factoids
Very soothing and calming walk through the Arb, its nice during the early morning hours and during sunset
Beautiful, peaceful, amazing scenic well maintained trails for walking, running, or relaxing.️️️️cant say enough about the experience. Went daily in all weather to get some much needed r&r
In bloom or not, this area is always beautiful and never too crowded. The go-to spot for a hike locally.
Its a treasure of southeast Michigan. It definitely compares to the large metro, and state parks nearby with an added magnetic appeal- at the heart of treetown.
Quiet place to relax or walk/run
Nice beautiful park with tiny creek. The water is shallow and people enjoy taking their air boat float along. Getting a parking spot near it might be difficult.
Every city should have a tranquil place to visit nature and escape the normal life grind our society knows so well. Ann arbor perfectly captures nature in the middle of the Ann arbor city scape here in this magnificent garden. Let nature take your breath away and your stress as you take winding wildflower paths through wooded hills and beautiful river walks.
A lush and beautiful landscape.
Beautiful place to walk.
What a wonderful series of trails! We spent two hours experiencing a wide range of environments from walking through prairie grasses, river views, grassy open spaces, and mature forests. I would definitely recommend it to others!
Beautiful forest area with great views of the Huron.
Just amazing... nice people, great teachers, one of the best schools
Good place to walk around with lots of shade
We walked through the massive peony garden.
Beautiful park!!! Great for walking
Beautiful paths, though the flowers can be very seasonal. For instance, the peony garden is underwhelming when the peony season is over. This is to be expected, and the rest of the grounds are well worth walking anytime, and there are many scenic spots to sit on benches and talk with a friend while admiring nature. The arboretum is perfect for dates, conversations, exercise, and solo reflection.
Have been walking in the Arb since college, its always beautiful. Sometimes we hike around and other times we cut through it or sit and read. We love walking it Spring through Fall. Always peaceful. Always beautiful. So thankful for this place.
Amazing day. Thanks to Frank and the staff. My sister and nephew planted blueberry bushes in honor of their beloved Jay. Staff member Frank was so kind. Generous and thoughtful in helping us honor and remember Jay on his birthday. Thank you! And such a beautiful healing place right in the heart of the city. A gift.
A perennial favorite for Ann Arbor denizens who want to take a nature walk, partake 7 different natural landscapes, or just get away from it all in the middle of the town. 170 acres of lush greenspace right near the hospitals and beside the Huron River accessible to one and all for free.
Nice place to calm yourself after taking final exams. But dont forget to check the weather forecast, nothing can cover you from the rain.
The arb is one of the best public parks ive ever experienced, likely one if the best in the country. go see the amazing huron river watershed map.
Peaceful and a beautiful place to take a walk
Beautiful gardens inside and out. Special plant sales in spring. Members get discounts and free parking. Bonsai garden section.
Always an interesting place for a walk with friends. Love the peony garden in the Spring; so many flowers!
The Arb is a very beatiful place for walking, joging or hiking specialy during the spring and summer. Has many hiking trails, a beatiful garden area, and a nice river view. If you live in the Ann Arbor area or if you visit city, this will be the perfect place to enjoy nature.
Stunning Huron river views prairies.
Best place to walk and or smoke
Beautiful nature spot. Great trails and river views! :)
