Very good outing. The mountain is very pretty. You can hike to the top if your a good climber it is pretty steep. You can take the trail that goes around the mountain. It is a beautiful walk also and much easier. There is another trail which is very short right next to the ranger station. The man in charge of the excursion is very knowledgeable and a nice person also. He hives you a tour on the way to the mountain and will drop you off where you need to be on your way back.
Pete rules. He is the guy that will be driving you, during the ride he explains a lot of things about Anchorage that you will find interesting and informative. He has a ready to go set of instructions on how to get to the top and back so do you dont get lost. The time estimates are very precise but he has added a little wiggle room for those that walk slower.
We wanted to go to Flattop on a day where unfortunately, no one else in town did. They understandably wouldnt run the shuttle for only us 2 people, but they offered us all the information possible about the trail, rental car or cab options, maps of the trail and making sure we made it to the correct trail entrance, etc..They didnt have to do this, but they went the extra mile for someone who want even paying them!Very nice people.
Excellent experience, bar none. Pete, the owner and orchestrater of the shuttle is an asset to the community - a wealth of knowledge, friendly, professional, you name it hes got it. Overwhelmingly positive experience, enough so for me to bother signing in and reviewing (a seldom had event).
Great hike and view. Peter is nice and responsible.
Pete, the shop owner and tour guide, is professional, courteous, and funny. The ride provided an interesting tour of downtown but unseen parts of anchorage: the college and local vibes. The hike itself is a rigorous pleasure. I also left my purse under the seat of his van and only realized it once I arrived to the airport; I called him, and he immediately offered to drive to the airport to deliver it to me. (He ended up mailing it to me.) I highly recommend this tour and Petes shop-I can attest that hes an honest guy!
Friendly people, knowledgeable. Is also Downtown Bike Rental
Wow! First of all lets start with Pete the owner: he is so personable, and so attentive! He has to be the most passionate, attentive person Ive ever come accross! And then there is the service, which takes you in a great ride to Flattop mountain, which has some of the most amazing views, and youll even have a chance to meet like minded people because we all ride in the same van! Also Pete offers really good quality bikes and a great suggested route if you want to explore on your own! If youre looking to do something super cool in Alaska, GO TO THIS PLACE!
Good hike. Great scenery.
Great option if you dont have a car and want to get out of the city for a bit. I really enjoyed my trip, and I appreciated the guidance from Paul on executing a more aggressive hike. The fact that the shuttle takes a different route so visitors can see more of the city on the return trip is a nice touch. Plus, its nice to have a little built-in community established in the shuttle if youre traveling solo.
Awesome hike. This is definitely the way to go if you dont have a car. An Uber is $50 each way, so as long as youre with 3 or fewer, this is a good deal.
Peter, is so nice. And the it was wonderful service. But is a very hard climb in bad weather!
It was nice to hike went with my sister and her freinds and heather
Super fun to hike. The last third of the way is rocky and beautiful. Once you have had a chance to enjoy the view at the top, the real adventure begins- getting down.
Great business ran by some great people. Anyone who has anything bad to say about this place is too pretentious and stubborn to just go with the flow and enjoy an awesome adventure. Pete is the man
The guide was uncomfortably awkward, and only really talked to us when I probed him with questions. He was at times quite unprofessional in the way he interacted with the customers. The pickup locations were not communicated well, and they seemed very unorganized. The shuttle was dirty and unkempt. It was however an efficient way to go to Flattop.
Beautiful site.
I never forget that day was sunny day
Messed up
Alaska
Good guy in the shop
If you have access to a vehicle, save your money and drive to Flattop yourself.
