Totally different scene at Christmas! Love all the lights! Hot chocolate not too bad either
We had fun with the Christmas lights and watching the ice skating.
Wonderful for whole family. Got food area lots of shady spots all though those fill up quick. If your planning a whole day get there early and pack comfortable walking were shoes
Good place for family to have fun. Our concern was the restrooms, theyre not cleaned at all we cant even go there to change our clothes.I think you need to keep them clean at all the time please. Other than that we had a great day.
Good for families with kids to enjoy playing in the small pools. However, the park’s very limited. Wave Pool was incredibly crowded, which didn’t leave much space to swim. The lifeguard actually pulled me over to do a “freestyle” swim. It was a bit embarrassing for them to actually see if I could swim. The slides were filled with friction. One couldn’t slide down without having to push themselves. The white slide hurt your ankles a bit while going down. Overall, I wouldn’t say it’s the best if you’re looking forward to large/big rides. I would say that this park would be good if you were to bring along a child.
Its great! There is a little kid section then a baby section and a play section right next to the little kids section . There also is a big pool, ... But sadly not for everyone if you are not older than 13 or 14 look on your right and you will see a red line you can NOT pass that if u are not older than those ages. My daughter was really sad because she could swim up to 5/½ ( and she is nine)and they didnt allow her, but I personally would suggest ocean dunes, but back great waves they have food, pizza, ice cream and more ( I think..) Im sorry great waves... But I have to take a star down because of not letting at least 9 and up swim to 5.
First time here. Pool areas are well supervised and the couple of times there was a distressed swimmer the staff had a great response. The lifeguards did a great job of staying alert and communicating with swimmers. The water slides were kinda disappointing since it was like going down in slow motion. Maybe my expectations were too high! The food was good and like all NOVA parks Ive experienced the prices were reasonable. The kitchen staff could be friendlier.
Had a wonderful time. Wasn’t too crowded and was perfect for my 2 and 6 year old. They had a blast
Pool and water ride was great. But there have false advertising on food and food was old and dry. Food area was dirty and not clean. Golf and baseball fun. Bring your own food.
Fun park. Great place to bring a toddler but be sure to bring water shoes! Park services could do a better job cleaning.
Lots of fun things to do for all levels of comfort in the water. You just have to dodge all the trash. We got there at opening yesterday, and there were food containers and ketchup packets on the ground. Lifeguards were walking past Band-Aids on the ground. Although oblivious to the sanitation of their workplace, the staff were friendly.
Fun despite a painful injury (caused by horseplay). The first aid tent put a quick stop to the bleeding and handled the situation quite well. Overall a good place to visit, so long as you remember to be safe and put on sunscreen!
I am currently standing in line waiting for my burger and fries and there are several people waiting in front of me! We have been waiting for over 20 minutes! There are several workers playing in the kitchen as well as on their phones while we wait for our food! The water and the juice boxes aren’t even cold. There is food all over the floor! My nieces are having a wonderful time playing but having to wait on this food takes away from the good time!
Awesome places for the smallies (children) to go and run wild. They expend a lot of energy here. The Soft-ish play area is great for absorbing falls and when its really hot outside you can Waterpark it up! Your smallies will never be bored and you will never be bored watching them! We go all the time!!
It was clean. It was fun. But I overheard a staff member say, We get away with so much here.Still fun, but fix your staff. This happened in August, 2018, so I dont know if that specific person still works there.
It was fun to see the winter lights. Glad it was only 5 dollars, that was a good value.
My family and I visited this park for the first time in 2018.We knew nothing about this place until we googled it.This is the best one weve experienced so far out of all the water parks in Virginia. We came all the way from Baltimore and weve already made 2 visits so far in 2018.Well definitely be there next week for the 1st time for 2019 and especially to get them funnel cakes We ️ this place
The water slide hurts your back ! Don’t try it. Also the life guards made my boyfriends bother take a swimming test so he could go past 4ft. He is 5’10, he took it every time a new life guard would take the post. And after I told them that was ridiculous, they started talking in their native language to each other and making faces at us.
Place was nice & family friendly. Prices were reasonable. However, the bathrooms weren’t cleaned at all. Food was “ok” they were out of some items.. Chicken nuggets, ice cream etc. Staff was friendly & made sure problems were fixed.
Great toddler area. Wave pool was cool. Wish Id had a chance to hit the big slides.
It looked like fun, but honestly I wouldnt know as it was closed. I didnt know that as my GPS told us it was open. They didnt have a schedule up or anything of the sort. It took a worker to come out and tell us that the park only open Fridays to Sundays. I dont blame the people there, I blame whoevers in charge of posting the schedule online.
Amazing local water park!!!! Im actually so happy theres one so close. We cant drive all the way to Kings Dominion or Busch Gardens so we are very grateful and appreciative of Great Waves and Cameron Run. Hopefully theyre here for many years to come.
Our children had a really great time but, its not right that the parents have to pay to go in and dont swim theyre just there to watch their children play. they need to update swim wear code as far as some people wearing thongs.
Idk only came for the Christmas lights for the holiday season
I took my children here this past Saturday, 8/10/19. It was awesome, not too crowded, great price and not far from home. The only issue I had was that we were not permitted to bring any food or drink inside besides water. There was only two places to order food. I went to order food from the pizza place. It took 30 minutes to get the pizza, and they were already out of the soft ice cream and salad choices early in the day (1 pm). Also, there was only one flavor of Gatorade left. Only kids were working and no adult manager(s). A few hours later, I went to the burger joint to get my son some fries. There were about 30 ppl standing around and only one cashier present (another worker in the back). After waiting 30 mins. for a regular fries, I just walked out without them. Again there were only two kids working and no managers. Everyone waiting around was very impatient and it was awful. The cashier young girl looked very upset. It would be a much better experience if people could bring our own food. At least if we are forced to buy food, have a smooth flowing operation with managers around. Cut down the wait time and have all the options fully stocked. Thanks.
Good for the price. $11 for adults and little less for kids. One thing not listed on the website is infants are free. As said a month ago, the bathrooms are still horrible and food is what you’d expect at a waterpark, nothing great but eatable. Plenty of chairs but very few umbrellas. Park was not busy at all and kids areas have enough for them to run around for a few hours. Its no Adventure Island or Six Flags but being so close to home its worth a half day out.
This waterpark was super basic. If you have really small kids, it would be fine. If you have visited big water parks it may be disappointing. The slides didnt have good water flow and people had to scoot themselves down 2 of the 3 the slides. There arent many tubes in the wave pool . It was just ok, not a do over.
Love love love this place. Needs more parking.
Our favorite place every summer.
Support them otherwise we dont have a water park.
Visited and played on their mini golf course which is enjoyable besides the geese poop not being picked up off the playing area. You’d think they would clean that up in the mornings. Visited at 11 am. We also wanted to purchase dipping dots after the hot game and the manager stated we would have to pay the water park entrance fee, even though we had no intentions of staying in the park, which was a bit disappointing seeing as I just paid for golf. Poor service in my opinion but I guess that’s what happens when you ask vs. just walking past the staff that has their headphones in on their phone anyways.
Great machines comprised of softball slow pitch ranging to baseball fastball (almost) MLB heat. (85) Well back in the day anyway before youngsters started throwing up to 105mph. The staff was great managing the facilities, any instances and they would check machines and or credit back a coin. Adequate selection of bats and helmets, recommend having your own if you can afford it. Summer has the waterpark side packed full of people with the batting cage mostly free. Overall a great experience spending a few hours at the batting cage.
It was the funniest time ever. And plus my mom had a good time but she thought the workers were rude and the pool was dirty... but I dont think that I think great waves is the best... so ima give a 5 star
Ok water park. Its too crowded and the one parking lot fills up fast. You should definitely buy tickets ahead of time, the ticket booth is extremely slow.
Great place to takr the kids to get them tired especially on hot days. There is shade and plenty of seats. Bring your own food to save some money.
Today was our first day visiting and we really enjoyed it!! But...we love dip in dots and I bought an order for my daughter. It was 4.50 for a small. The girl told me 5. I asked why it was clearly advertised as 4.50. She said tax and I knew that wasnt right but went with it anyway. So later on we go back again and I am paying attention to the party ahead of us and she charged them right but I think she noticed me. I order, its not 5 anymore!! Its 4.77. So guaranteed she is making .50 off every cup sold! She needs to be watched or something. When I called her out on it she got snotty with me and claimed she tried giving me my change. But yet she said 5! Crook!!! Literally nickle and diming people all day!! Not ok!!
If you like water this is the place to go if you dont stay home
Great!, family friendly, fun atmosphere. Nasty womens bathroom and food except the hotdogs and fries were delicious. Fun for fair price. Cant wait to go back.
Kids love this place, I mean, it’s a water park- but as a parent looking for value, safety and peace of mind, here are the things I hated:-the cabana. For $50 you get a cabana in the corner with two chaise loungers and a table with 4 chairs. It was so dirty and out of the way in the smashed oreos and miscellaneous food were still on the ground under our cabana. And honestly the other community chairs were much more inviting than these nasty brown ones. Also, you only get two reserved red tubes for the wave pool, no matter the size of your party.-apparently you can bring food, drinks, and treats in coolers, despite what their website says... and do take your own food... the pizza we had was rock hard & I didn’t dare order the chicken. Also they were out of ice cream.-glass in the wave pool. Several people complained about getting cut yesterday when we were there... no one did anything about it. It wasn’t until we were leaving at 6pm that I overheard people talking about what caused their cut feet.-HOT and dirty turf. Yikes- take and wear flip flops so you don’t get burns on your and your littles’ feet. Yikes. Good idea, poor execution.-cranky life guards. I get it, you’re tired... but that’s your job. Don’t get mad at me and my kids for not following a rule that isn’t posted. Also, more than half of the lifeguards we talked to (my 2 year old has a fascination with life guards) don’t speak English.- splash pool & pad, the rock steps up to the little slides smelled so terribly like urine, after two times down the slide, I just couldn’t anymore.
This was an awesome waterpark. I had a birthday celebration here for my son and he had a ball. He wants to return.
Overpriced. Feel like Im in Compton. The water is clean, but the bathrooms are not. I feel so cheated.
Nice water park to spend some time with your children
Great place for parents to relax. Kids had a blast. I give it 5 stars for the value it provides. I give it 3 stars for food prices and cleanliness of bathrooms and showers. I liked that immediately after a child threw up and deficated they closed the wave pool til they cleaned it. The response time was quick. I give the slides 2 out of 5 because the last part of them the kids had to scoot to finish and that was a bummer so they only did the slides once. Next time I will lather them in baby oil before they go down and see if it is better but the way it was now was painful for them. Overall you get what you pay for which is an extravacant day at the pool. We would 100% come back and bring freinds.
Wave pool was clean, fun & the life guards were excellent. We went today to celebrate a milestone bday. All present weighed between 80-120 ibs and we ALL had to PUSH ourselves down the waterslides 10-12 times on each of the red, yellow & green. Life guards at the top said to lay down flat, cross arms and legs. We did. No luck! Restrooms were disgusting.
We came on a Sunday afternoon. It was extremely crowded. Barely any empty chairs, none in the shade. Trash strewn. All tubes were taken and wave pool was so packed people knock into each other. Wouldn’t recommend coming during peak hours.
We take our Taekwondo summer campers here every year. The Great Waves staff are professional, courteous, and good with children. They have a first aid station that helps with cuts and bumps and there are enough small sized life vests to go around. Kids seem to love eating lunch there; the food is actually not bad they even sell a salad and veggie burger for meatless options. Overall we give Great Waves the highest rating and will be coming back summer after summer!
This place was cool. Suggest going early in the morning or it gets pretty busy. But the food was good even though it took a little while and it has stuff for all ages.
This place was cool as well as big. Best place for kids. Better to go early in the morning or it gets busy. Food was good.
The concession staff are very RUDE life guards stay on their job i love that my family and i enjoyed our time here besides the encounters with the stands
It was a really nice park. The kids had so much fun but there was lightening (in the area) so they kicked everyone out of the park. Its a great effort but somewhat annoying since it was a beautiful day.
This place was very fun I I love it I highly recommend it
The water was pretty dirty... Maybe too many people and all the sunscreen? I had goggles on in the wave pool and the water was really cloudy. Also, super packed, no room to move around. Finally, the lifeguards want smaller kids to stay behind a certain line, which kinda takes the fun out of it. The bigger slides looked fun, but my 6 year old wasnt tall enough so we stuck to the kiddie slides which werent too exciting.
Great place. Lots of fun and the water was amazingly cold
Good water park great slides
I think its a bit pricey, especially when my kids are 3 and 2 and I have to pay $12 for them and 15 for me and their dad. I really expected more then what it was idk anywho it was ok.
Excellent day out, food also great value
Beautiful i have to take my son every other week
THIS WAS THE WORSE FAMILY WATERPARK MY FAMILY HAS EVERY WENT TO. THE STAFF WAS EXTREMELY RUDE ESPECIALLY THE LIFEGUARDS. The lifeguards acted as if getting injured was on purpose and when assistance was needed the was too busy to assist but the they were standing TALKING TO EACH OTHER when my nephew was sitting in the chair foot bleeding waiting for assistance. Asked for assistance putting a life jacket on a toddler and the lifeguard said I DONT KNOW HOW TO PUT IT ON. We had to figure out ourselves and while she smoked her cigarette and assisted another gentleman. We had small kids and big teenagers were allowed to wrestle and horse playing, flopping hitting and scaring the kids and NOT ONE STAFF MEMBER said anything to them. The staff at the eatery (Sweet or Sunny Shack) was so totally DISREPECTFUL. This was our first and last time at this place. ALL PEOPLE SHOULD BE TREATED WITH RESPECT AS RESPECT IS GIVING. We made plans to visit the waterpark to have a good family day and it turned into the worse waterpark. Staff that worked 7/28/2019 should be ashamed as to the treatment giving.
The good part is that theres enough outdoor space to not feel cramped next to any other families or camp groups. We were there on a Friday during prime time pool hours: 12 to 4pm. Also loved the availability of the first aid station. There are several pool and splash areas with different attractions such as a beach house with sand, water hose, slides, etc. BUT BUT BUT....for a place that prohibits outside food they MUST do something about the poor food service. There is ONE station for pizza and icecream and ONE place for funnel cake nuggets hotdogs and burgers. There are literally TWO registers to service HUNDREDS of people. There are teenagers running these concession stands and are poorly trained in food service let alone customer service. My food was incorrectly prepared. There was confusion about how many nuggets I should receive and my simple order was repeated to me incorrectly (smaller portion) when served after I already paid for a larger portion and the cashier keeps the receipt so you cannot even prove what you paid for. It took over an hour to get through the line and order. There is no clear cut line nor anyone monitoring the line so you see people skip the line. Or one person standing in line only to find out they have 6more people with them and no body says anything. You loose playtime/pool time standing in line to get less than mediocre service and have your food fumbled. Literally my nuggets were dropped on the food-smeared trash-filled counter and the young man picked them up and attempted to put them back in the too small paper boat container before I asked for a replacement batch. Im glad the kids had fun but its no place to go if you plan to work up an appetite or havent already eaten prior to arrival. And Im sure the baby pool was never checked for chlorine levels the entire time we were there and the water went from blue to a dirty brownish pale green. Eew.
Children love this place....Dont miss it
The water park is a lot of fun if you get there first thing in the morning. The parking lot fills up very fast and then you have to take your chances parking illegally nearby. Before the big crowds arrive, the slides are fun and the wave pool is entertaining. Avoid the Grill for food - the employees are totally incompetent and youll end up waiting literally an hour. Go for pizza instead. By mid afternoon it gets really, really crowded.
Pretty cool spot to literally cool down during the summer heatwave !
It was so awsome perfect day to go
Very unsafe place to visit.... no security cameras... poor management... extremely disappointing place, where anybody can steal your stuff anytime
My kids really like the place in the water park is fine but the water slides need work. They have very little water pressure and you get stuck on the slide. The food is also a little bit overpriced for the quality. Overall a good time
Small water park for the family prices where reasonable and the kids enjoyed it they only have about 4 different sections 2 of them being slides and 2 kids areas and 1 big wave pool food prices are decent will definately come back
Its the absolute best!!! I always cry and feel so sad when it closes for the year after labor day!
Its great! resonable price and good food. I just wish there were more big pools but its still really good and very close to home.
Very convenient in the neighborhood and we always have a great time
You get what you pay for first off, and for the price it was very decent place, close to home. Kids loved it. It was clean, we went during the week and early so it wasnt packed. The crowd or staff were not rude to my family. Will go again.
Last Saturday I visited the park with my family, had fun there with lots of slides and pool activities but unfortunately just mins before leaving I brought out all my stuff and while waiting for my kids to come out of water, I sat down on a chair near the exit and as I was very tired, I fell asleep for few mins with my stuff kept nearby and when I wake up my bag was stolen. It had my husbands wallet with lots of cr/dr cards, Iphone, driving license, cloths etc., though the policeman standing there registered my complaint, there should be some strict action if any such thief is caught.Ideally it is supposed to be a safe place, since we visitors cant stay alert all the time. There should be cctv cameras to avoid such incidents, some warning boards for such thieves .Would request you to take this seriously and help me getting my things back.Worst part is, it’s been a week and no action has taken by the management yet.
One of the best parks in my opinion. I went after 4pm and its definitely worth the value. Fun slides for my 9 year old but also a lot of places for my toddler to play. We went on a Monday so it wasnt crowded at all. My go to water park from now on.
Great for little kids to enjoy, better when is not full !
BATHROOMS ARE AWFUL!! THEY NEED CLEANING AINT NO WAY A WOMANS BATHROOM SHOULD LOOK LIKE THAT AT NO TIME!! YOU CANT EVEN GET IN THE STALL AND EVEN IF YOU WANTED TO USE THE TOILETS IT IS CLOGGED WITH PAPER TOWELS AND TOILET PAPER!! BUT OTHER THAN THAT IT IS KIND OF THE KIDS TO ENJOY THEMSELVES AS WELL AS ADULTS! BUT MORE FOR KIDS!!
Awesome Park! Great for kids and their friends!
“Enter at your own risk park “Last month I visited the park with my family, had fun there with lots of slides and pool activities but unfortunately just mins before leaving I brought out all my stuff and while waiting for my kids to come out of water, I sat down on a chair near the exit and as I was very tired I fell asleep for few mins with my stuff kept nearby and when I wake up my bag was stolen(It had my husbands wallet with lots of cr/dr cards, Iphone, driving license, cloths etc.), though the policeman standing there registered my complaint, there should be some strict action if any such thief is caught.Ideally it is supposed to be a safe place, since we visitors cant stay alert all the time. There should be cctv cameras to avoid such incidents, some warning boards for such thieves. At the top, this is absurd that management has not taken any action yet, for them just a small apology note is enough.
We had a blast! See y’all next month
Great place to take the kids for summer fun!
Ample space to have an outdoor event for office guests
Dirty, hot, water. Disgusting place.
Never been however cook lake was jumping with trout!
Pretty clean for a water park, and only really crowded on the weekends. The wave pool is fun for all ages. Convenient lockers at the front.
I love this place, beautiful water world
The life guards are so rude the food is too overpriced and the white slide hurts and burns your back do not go on it and the red and green slides r so slow and they don’t lets kids like an inch taller that 48 on the slides terrible life guards don’t go here it terrible
Fun
Went to the dog swim and it was amazing.
Awesome place to take ur kiddos
You get what you pay for. Its not an up to date park, but definitely can make the best of it. I went there for my son, and he had a great time. Great for kids. 3 year old.
