I would consider this more of gallery than museum. Nice and eccentric but quite old and not easy for a person with allergy. Currently have interesting exhibitions and nice location for being close to old town river front. Of course accessibility is out of window.

Greek revival building. Once a bank, now a gallery. Surprised by its small size. Not much happening inside. Move on.

All of the Athenaeum staff was excellent to work with. During the initial planning stages, Veronica and Richard were my main points of contact, both of whom were very helpful answering questions. They were happy to entertain our questions both via email and during the various trips to check out the space. The contract process was fairly straight forward and fortunately renting out the space includes both the art gallery and the outside garden (it rained on our wedding day and the ceremony was initially going to take place in the garden). A few days before the wedding, we were informed that Amanda would be the staffer on hand on the actual wedding day. I sent Amanda my proposed timeline and we reviewed it over the phone. She was willing to assist with flow of show and confirming chair and floral deliveries/set up.She advised us of some renovations that were taking place in the alley behind the garden, which is where the ceremony was originally going to take place. While the staff had not previously informed us of the planned renovation, it all worked out in the end. Amanda emailed me photos of the renovations, offered alternate solutions to ensure the scaffolding wouldn’t be as visible, emailed the contractor to ensure they would be done with the renovations for the day prior to our scheduled photo time and ceremony start time, and offered to be at the venue early to ensure that everything was clean. When I realized it was likely going to rain on the wedding day, I emailed Amanda asking for a quick discussion on a rain plan. She contacted me right away to confirm a time and we spoke the morning of the wedding to come up with a rain plan. She handled the new set up with both the chair rental company and the florist. The set up came out beautifully. Also, one of the photographers left a water behind and Amanda emailed me about the item so I was able to retrieve it the next day.I would definitely rent this space again!

Amazing little gallery. The collection changes very frequently and its a good idea to stop by whenever you can to see if theres anything new. Its a small building, so its a nice quick stop if youre just strolling the historic district. Also, theyre available for rentals for small gatherings of up to ~100 people. Ive seen several wedding there- its really a great space.

Good wide open space for your unique event. Nice tall ceilings wood floors Large (floor to ceiling) window on both sides so huge amounts of light. Not much to see if visiting unless there is an artist show or the like

It feels like a place that connected people get to use for free, but it doesnt pay any taxes. Lol

What a gorgeous and wonderful venue for an event -- a fundraiser, a garden party, a wedding, a dinner. I have been here for all of these types of events and found the venue open, light-filled, comfortable and beautiful. It looks great at night with candles and during the day -- especially the garden.I would highly recommend it for an event where you enjoy historical and beautiful surroundings in a fun location. Your guests will enjoy themselves.

I have never visited Europe. Still there are many things about its history, culture, people that fascinate me. Probably that is one of the reasons why the idea of a friend to take me to this place was a huge success. A really nice museum - there is a lot that can be learnt as long as you open not only your eyes, but your heart as well.
