This is a beautiful little wetland preserve. It’s only a short walk (~45 minutes) so probably not worth a long drive if you don’t live nearby. Unfortunately, when you get up to the water, especially at the final overlook, there is so much trash. We really need to be putting more funds into places like this and less into sustaining our military industrial complex. Peace ️
Great place to eat lunch and watch the bald eagles over head!
Nice views of bald eagles.
An abundance of nature.
Fun nature preserve with flat walking trails through tidal wetlands along the Potomac River
Nice place to walk.
A great place to capture east coast nautical scenes
Less than a mile to a pretty view of National Harbor. Flat, wide trail.
Beautiful views of the Potomac River. Relax and be one with nature.
Fall is rapidly approaching and the marsh has a special beauty.
One of my favorite spots for wildlife viewing in the DC area. Though you will find those damn trail runners.
You have got eagles and ospreys there! Good place to see birds in their natural habitation.
Always have a time at this park riding bikes, grilling out with the fam or fishing.. #DrD703 #BassMasterD #KTO
Nice quiet area, found the trails easy to navigate. Saw lots of birds including the state bird, Cardinal Red Bird. Also butterflies were very noticeable. Great views of National Harbor, Woodrow Wilson Bridge, if you make it all the way down to the pier deck.
Always amazing and full of wonder. Missed the Eagles nest, but the fragrant aroma of wild jasmine stole my senses, and filled my heart with joy.
Public Restroom is by the boat ramp, no others exist on trial. Sometimes sections of the trail has standing pools of water. One of my favorite local trails when I want to take in a short escape.
I love this place. Whenever Im visiting, l ride my bike here and just sit to enjoy the birds, the flora, and to watch the boats on the Potomac.
Peaceful!
Great place to getaway quickly and slow down the anxiety. Rent a Kayak and head down thru the marshes along the shore.
I love coming to this park so peaceful along the GW Parkway and bottled water and nice Trail to walk and bike on
Very nice except there is poisson ivy all along the trail so not the best for those with children
Awesome place to discover wildlife. Id give it another two starts if the Park Service would start scooping out the garbage like Holland does. I know you have budget issues, but if youre wont regulate plastic bottles, them you must commit to cleaning them out.
Great place to stop along the Mount Vernon trail
Peaceful!
Nature! Nothing beats it. Wonder place for a pleasant walk.
Enjoyed the place on a sunny day
This 1.5 mile flat out and back trail has gorgeous views of the Potomac River, and a variety of plants and animals for the budding ecologist. The trail is completely flat, perfect for beginners and rugged strollers. Theres even a tiny beach where kids can get their toes wet and play in some muddy sand during low tide. There is no Nature Center, however; no bathrooms, no playground, no water fountain. Just ample parking and a lovely, easy hike that will take you through Potomac marshland and back!
Awesome wetland trail on edge of the Potomac...great for egret, water foul and eagle viewing and a good walk. .has both bike and pedestrian trail options
Huge beautiful park right on the water just perfect for a picnic. The trail along the water front is mostly shaded and goes all the way out to a nice boardwalk landing. The views were gorgeous. It was a beautiful day!
Beautiful and peaceful kayak - very helpful staff. Enjoyed the moment with my daughter
Nice walking path
Awesome sidetrail for running!
Gem of a park just south of Alexandria VA.Easy access to trails and wildlife. Free bird walks every Sunday am.
Quite a lovely bike ride or hike across wooden bridges over the marsh. Beautiful plants and happy birds on a sunny day!
Real nature in an accessible way. Good for walks, dog walks, and bird watching if thats your thing
Theres plenty of parking nearby (Belle Haven Comfort Station) and its only a short walk to the point. The walk can be muddy if theres a recent rain so be careful.Dogs arent allowed off leash but some people do it. Ive never seen an issue and the dogs seem very well behaved but something to note if you have little ones that are scared of them.If you are looking for a short and scenic hike thats very calm and secluded (feels like you are farther away from the parkway than you actually are), go explore the Dyke Marsh Preserve. You can even rent kayaks at the marina thats next door.Oh but do be careful if you are by yourself, especially if you are a woman. It gets dark quick due to the tree cover and Ive seen (only on a few occasions) some unsavory folk in the area. Just stay alert and you should be ok.
About a mile hike to the boardwalk but very easy..
This is one of the hidden gems in the DC area. A wide dirt trail that cuts through the marsh and gives you beautiful views of the river as well - great for runners, photographers, walkers and children.
Nice park and you can walk along on the designated walkway to see nature and across the river on some places.
Nice and easy trail with a few historical markers explaining the history of the marsh.
Love it
Beautiful scenery
Nice trail
Beautiful!
A walk on the wild side.
Best time to spot the birds is early morning
