I was very excited to go to Zion beach as it is located in the wealthy suburbs of North Chicago. I was disappointed to see the State Park was is poor condition. The rocks bordering the lake were showing the landscape fabric, the cement was broken, the plant landscape needed much attention. There was a lot of orange barriers to crumbling structures.The water seems clean but definitely is a good idea to bring water shoes because the lake floor is rocky.There are not many state parks by the lake in Illinois so it is sad this park has been neglected.Did not saw any park rangers. But saw two women with dogs on the beach which does not allow dogs.If you are in the area is definitely worth stopping by and see the view. But is not worth driving an hour to visit this park until is maintained properly. It is closed Saturday and Sunday during COVID19.

Its too good... i went yesterday my son super duper happy for this place.... huge area for parking & toilet is clean. Grilling area is great .... kids & adults play area also big. Super like

Awesome beach, just 10-15 minutes away from some busy suburb areas. Clean, with restroom facilities and ample free parking. Can get kind if rocky though, so water shoes might be helpful.

So peaceful I like this beach a lot and is not so crowded like the ones in Chicago. Camping and RV is like $25 per day.

Clean beach with very less people. Gives you kind of private beach feeling.

This is a very nice camping area. Very family friendly. Those who are running the facility are very kind and they gave me a lot of camping information and advice, since I was relatively new to camping. The best part is walking out to the lakefront in the morning. How beautiful!

A great beach on Lake Michigan. This is an Illinois Department of Natural Resources park which makes it affordable and safe. There is a hotel/resort on the beach.

Its free and cool its the best place to visit and give it a try for even an hour of ur day during summer

Now the pool can be use only if you have a membership, plus is very expensive, I am very desapointed.

Beautiful place .. especially in summer I enjoy beach side walk here .. I wish restrooms were clean

Its all free and the water is clear. The flies are the thing that will absolutely ruin it. Cant even exist with them there trying to eat you.
