Book your tickets months in advance and use the free parking across the street. Arrive early for extra time at the train station to take pictures with crew and do activities such as writing Santa a letter. As for the ride, it was fun and the staff did a great job making the evening exciting for the little ones. It was perfect for our 2 and 4 year olds. They enjoyed the book reading, hot chocolate, cookies, and watching out the windows for wolves, elves and the North Pole. Santa made his way through the train, talked to each child, and handed out bells. Make sure to pack an extra bag with lunch or other snacks that you think your child might need. Its a long ride and there isnt anything nutritious on the train. There is no diaper changing station in the bathrooms on the train. And bathrooms are small. So expect a challenging situation. I had to change my little one while balancing her on my knee.

Our family is celebrating 5 years aboard the Blackstone Valley Polar Express. This train out of Woonsocket is easy to travel to. The experience is one of a kind and thats an understatement. You get a full trip to the North Pole to Santa!!! So dont forget your golden ticket... That includes Snow, caroling on a real working train, Bingo and a beautiful story of of course the Polar express. Every train car is a different reindeer ex. Pracer, Dancer, Comet etc. You get cookies and hot hot hot chocolate . The chefs, the conductors, the stewards, EVERYONE is magical and amazing. It truely is something that every family should experience. I wont tell the secret but.... you will hear your special present from Santa but only if you BELIEVE. #BVPOLAREXPRESS #NORTHPOLE #MAGICAL #FAMILY #ELVESMAKEITHAPPEN

Best thing my 8 yr old son ever did according to him.A bit of a mob scene at the beginning and the end but just stick together and youll be fine. They have it very organized. You check in and wait in line and your ticket already has you assigned to a car so there is no need to get there too early. Kids will just want to wander and shop etc. Then you board your individual train. Each train has a chef and a story/song leader. As you ride he reads the story, tells jokes, you get cocoa and cookies, you sing Christmas carols, the kids have a dance party. All kinds of fun. The North Pole is a golf course they have set up with elfs playing outside and sledding etc. Luckily there was snow on the ground when we went. You dont get out of the train.Them the train goes backwards heading back to the station.Guess who must have hopped on at the North Pole and wants to say hi to the kids.Santa walks through the train cars taking pictures and passing out bells in a pretty red box.At the end of the ride they give you a nice badge that says believe on it. You can put your cookie, commemorative cocoa cup, bell, music pages and coloring in the bag. When you get back to the station there are photo areas and Santa is there on a sleigh. There are refreshments that are fairly expensive and a bunch of souvenirs. Some reasonable and some pricey. We got a conductor hat for 20 bucks but the ornaments were fairly reasonable considering it is from Polar Express. The popcorn is free refills so you may want to buy that first so you can eat in line, fill up before the ride, eat on the ride and refill for the ride home. It comes in a flashing bucket. But if youre lucky you can avoid it all together.Definitely bring your own bottles of water. We even won the Thomas Kincade picture they talked off.As you leave everyone gets an ornament to take home. Ours was a ceramic Santa. The staff all stays in character as elfs and they make it very magical for the kids. My son was 8 and 10 months and he was so enthralled. Granted hes a Santa addict but it was a great experience. He started talking about his trip for next year in the car on the way home and still brings it up. We are in March and right up till Feb hes been taking about it.

This was such a great experience! We drove from Philadelphia, PA and decided to spend Thanksgiving weekend in Boston to take our 3 year old daughter on this ride. It was worth it! The staff is incredible, everyone is so outgoing, this is something I rarely see. I took a short video of the experience. Ill explain how to view it at the bottom of the review for anyone that wants a sneak peak of the experience. There are so many surprises on the ride. I did not give them away.My wife and I work very hard and like to take our daughter places. The worst feeling is when we spend a lot of money and feel ripped off. I left here feeling I got my monies worth. Thank You Blackstone Valley Polar Express!Dont just take my word for it. Search Polar Express - Mia takes a trip to the North Pole to see Santa in YouTube. If you have young children, this is quite the experience. I say that because theres singing and dancing. If your children are older, they may not enjoy it as much as younger children. The hot chocolate was delish, they have vegan hot chocolate too as well as gluten free cookies. Sing, dance and have fun on this trip.

Awful I go every year with my children. Last year I won tickets at an action and went to use them on Nov 26, 2018 only to find out I had to use them by Nov 16-18. Who the hell goes before Thanksgiving. I called to see if they would be able to still honor them I called 9 times by Nov 26 then they said no they would not accommodate me. I would not have got them from St Jude if I had known. Im a single mother and no money to take them and at that point it was to late. Im still so mad. They ruined a tradition I had with my kids

Honestly one of the best things I have ever done with my children. The staff was unbelievable! Attentive, funny, welcoming, just all around the best. Beth and chef Deb knocked it out of the park! We have ridden the essex one in CT and this one was a thousand times better. Really cannot wait till next year. Thank you for putting all that effort into it and making a great memory for my daughter.

It was over $200 for 3 of us. We had no windows at our seats. Just a wall. I asked the woman with the mic why we dont have a window and she said we cant fix the train and walked away. We pulled up to the destination and she tells everyone to look at the windows to see the christmas scene but sadly we could not. I was very disappointed with our seats and with the mc of our train car. My child did enjoy the ride but it was worth about $40 and not over $200. If you plan on taking this trip make sure your seats arent the ones that I got.

Staff were great and accommodating to my clients- though it was way too expensive for what you get - cheesy souvenir cup containing sub par hot chocolate, the cookie was hard as a rock with gross stale frosting- they were stingy with the giving out of bells- I get that it’s for kids but again my clients that I paid for to go - are kids at heart - I had to beg for a bell for him- - really we paid over 50$ and they were going to not even give him a bell- save your money guys.

This was a really nice thing to do with my 4 year old. But I do with the train was a little better decorated. Also I would suggest doing this at night. We did it at a 11:00am showing and it kind of ruined the magic seeing all the garbage and run down buildings.

If you come to ride the polar express the interior of the station gets extremely crowded. they have a gift shop with just polar express and elf on shelf type of stuff. I recommend ordering tickets in april to july. you get to choose what car you want. The engine is NOT steam if you want a steam train go to Essex Steam Train in CT that experience isnt close to this excperiance. I hope this helped you and Happy Holidays!
