Worth stopping in for a tour of a colonial style coffeehouse. They do a nice job explaining who would visit and what would happen in a coffeehouse in colonial times. St the end of the tour one can sample either coffee or hot chocolate. While it isnt too sweet, it is rich and delicious. One of the better tours in CW.
A few years ago enjoyed the tour with my Mom. Got to have either coffee or hot chocolate by the end. Also met Washington. Very interesting, lots of fun, get to see a piece of Colonial life. I remember decades ago when they were still working on it. Time fasts.
Great place to visit and sip a cup of chocolate or coffee while learning how the gentry operated while in town in the 1770s. They created the beginnings of our constitution while omitting half the population...which was black...and thinking of their white male rights. Oh yes of course women had few rights.
There are three excellent reasons to visit: 1. You will have the chance to visit an excellent example of a recreated building built by the woodworking craftsmen of CW. 2. On recent visits, members of Virginias founding families were there giving insights into the times with personal stories. 3. Thanks to the Mars Candy Co., you are invited to sample tea, coffee or the wonderful American Heritage hot cocoa. Passes are required for admittance.
What fun to have a cup of hot chocolate or coffee with a colonial era figure. Great place to get the flavor of what it was like back in that time period. This is where the visitors to town could unwind and get time together informally. Actors are very knowledgeable and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Quaint and historic coffee house but dont expect to get a 12oz. Latte here. You get a small serving of coffee/tea/hot chocolate. I tried their hot chocolate and liked it since it was velvety and thick but just a small serving so it worked out! I thought it was amazing of them to achieve that texture with no milk or cream!! Impressive!
Fun place to visit, very informative tour. Nice little tasting at the end.
Fun tour! Delicious treat at the end. Usually a costumed character to interact with while you enjoy coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. YUM!
Had to get my hot chocolate fix. Not quite as spicy as usual, but still good.
Try it 3 times if you can. You can only pick one. Coffee, tea or chocolate. Love them all.
The coffee is very good but no sugar or cream. Stil strong and delicious
History comes alive! When you get the choice of coffee, tea, or chocolate... choose the chocolate!
We watched this restored tavern take shape and were impressed with the attention to detail as well as the accuracy of materials and construction methods. Some of the foundation was original. The chocolate drinks served here are delicious, and we left with a supply of the drink mix. Visited again 3/19.
Went in expecting a very basic presentation. It ended up being one of the coolest things we did in Colonial Williamsburg.
Definitely one of the must-see places in CW. Sample coffee or hot chocolate. If youre a chocolate fan you will LOVE this!
Good information and exchange, there actually a chance to partake in coffee, tea or chocolate as made during the period.
Very fancy hot chocolate!
A fun, informative stop. You actually get samples of coffee, tea, or chocolate.
This is one of the better tours in Colonial Williamsburg and you get a sample of coffee, tea or chocolate.
Delicious and informative. Do i need to say any more?
Nice place to cool off from the sun, and partake in some 18th century chocolate
This is an exhibition site at Colonial Williamsburg. Part of the tour is trying 18th century style of hot chocolate. Different than todays hot cocoa.
Saw James Madison portrayed by an actor. It was very enjoyable.
Great experience here. They made ya think you were in the 1700s.
Choice of tea, coffee or drinkable chocolate! Then we met Thomas Jefferson!! But for the noisy kids, this would have been better but its not the workers fault.
Pleasant presentation on the history of the coffee house with a stimulating sampler.
Made stimulating conversation with a maid!
One of the most interesting stops in Colonial Williamsburg.
