Ive been to a lot of zoos in my life, but this is my absolute favourite one. I grew up going to the Bramble Park Zoo and loving every minute. It has got the greatest set-up. Instead of being on hot concrete like most zoos, this zoo (as the name suggests) is in a park. There are tons of trees and shade. Its not too big to be overwhelming, but certainly big enough to see lots of amazing animals. I love the work they do rehabilitating raptors!
The zoo always looks clean when I visit. The staff seems friendly. They have a decent amount of animals for a fairly small town. In rating this a 4-star based on the size and the expectations although you could almost give it a 5-star for that. The reason I didnt give it a 5 is because its not a zoo you go out of your way for. It is a great place to burn a few hours while in town.
Its a cute little zoo has nice variety of animals for the size of zoo that it is. Friendly staff and exhibits have easy spots for kids to view most all the animals.
I hate the fact that there are caged animals. I tried to look at the bright side, but I what I saw were filed klaws and teeth. Not impressed. When wings of birds are clipped to stay down on their knee. I thought of genocide. These were the memories.. you might be able to take the animal out of the instinct, but you will never take the instinct of the animal.
It was very clean and not too busy at all. Based on the size of the city its located in I think its a very nice zoo. Its not very big but it was fun to see the animals and my kids enjoyed it.
What an excellent ex0perience we had the day we visited. This is a very nice zoo and the animals were very active
I LOVE THIS
Great zoo with numerous animals that can be experienced up close! Very clean and well taken care of!
Real nice zoo for a smaller town. They have two snow leopards so I may be biased
Good time for the kids. Small but kids will enjoy.
Not a huge zoo. But the kids loved it.. we had a great time for a few hours
Definitely a cute zoo... and you can show it’s coming from a small town. I personally wish that some of the exhibits were much larger... it’s frustrating to see some of the exhibits have such a small space compared to others. They really do have the potential to have a really good zoo...We came through during the corona, so we missed out on a few exhibits and any of the other demonstrations but that’s alright we’ll come another time. My only complaint of visiting during this health scare is that the penny press machine was in an area that was closed off. (So was the gift shop but that was something I wasn’t interested in anyways)
Such a fun place to get all the family out, walk around, and look at cute animals. The updated petting zoo is so nice and fun for the kidos
It was nice, but we came after it stormed so some exhibits were not open, cant wait to come back to give it 5 stars.
It was ok. Doesn’t have elephants, zebras, giraffes, or gorillas... so that’s a huge bummer. Prices are ok but not great considering the lack of animals.
Bramble Park Zoo is a nice way to spend a short afternoon. The grounds are kept very clean and the precautions taken for Covid-19 are done well. Id reccomend if youre in the area and need a few hours filled. Took my family about two hours to slowly walk through it all.
Great experience for families for Watertown and surrounding communities. My family loves Bramblr Park Zoo. :-)
We always love visiting Bramble Park Zoo! Animals all seem well taken care of! Zoo staff is always kind and knowledgeable! Small zoo but up close encounter! Active animals!
Enjoyed everything there. Keep growing. Need more animals. I enjoyed myself.
If youre in the area, this is an excellent place to stop for an afternoon. They have many indoor and outdoor exhibits. The petting zoo they added a few years ago is a great addition! We love visiting the zoo!
Went to Bramble Park Zoo today for first time since maybe2000ish Was BLOWN away by it! Such imaginative designs in there exhibits and ALL of OUR creatures looked VERY content to me. Like 80 mi from Aberdeen.TAKE A WILD GUESS WHERE 95% of my once aimless solitary road trips are going to be to? Going back tomarrow as a matter of fact. HIGHLY recommend it!
Fun and fast! Had a great time and doesnt eat up a whole day
I love working as a volenteer at the zoo I always have a blast as one of the few people that got picked to be on bramble park zoo crew.
Always love going to the zoo!
This is a great zoo...compared to other larger zoos that I have visited, I really enjoyed this one. No, they dont have everything big and small...for example, there are no elephants, giraffes, lions or zebras, but the price definitely reflects that. I prefer this smaller zoo with no large crowds that you can easily enough walk through with kids in one morning. They have bears, kangaroos, monkeys, fish, cheetah, tiger, bald eagle, sloth, birds, buffalo, camels etc. Theres plenty to see!
Great zoo. Kept up very well. Constant cleaning and disinfecting. Thank you Bramble.
For a city that I wouldnt expect to have a zoo I was really surprised at how nice it is. Very shady throughout with a lot of animals to see and a nice play area for kids. My boys had a blast and I will totally be coming back.
Lots of animals and running is the best part :D
Nice size zoo that takes about an hour to go through. Has various monkeys and cats, buffalo, otters, and petting zoo. Small store offers snack and zoo novelties.
Very nice zoo. Beautiful animals and exhibits.
Family fun day
We had a lot of fun at the chili cook-off today, and we came early and looked at the animals, too.
Nice zoo to visit, not overly large, and its spread out with lots of room for the animals to roam away from the optimal viewing area. Several feeding/treat stations havent been cleaned in years so the animals done come near them. Nice small area inside to look around and see some fish and history in.
For its size it really is a great zoo. Here in Omaha, NE we have a huge zoo, but this one was really good and only $10 a person. We were also lucky enough to show up on Linus the sloths birthday. The staff let us inside his enclosure and we got to pet him! Definitely a very cool experience!
Bramble Park Zoo was a lot of fun! We saw animals that our local zoo does not have, and the exhibits were fascinating because you were close to the animals. I was continually surprised and impressed by the exhibits for that reason. The animals looked healthy to my untrained eyes, as well. It was a smaller zoo, which worked well for our family, as it was an extremely hot day and we were able to complete walking through in about 2 hours. Take quarters for the food machines (farm animals and ducks- 50¢ per serving). Feeding the barn animals was really enjoyed by our family. Also, they had several neat exhibits, including aquariums inside the main entrance building, so be sure to not overlook those. We saw one soda/water vending machine which cost $2 for a bottle of water. We did not see a concession stand in the zoo, but there appeared to be a small one at the entrance building. The zoo also had some misting water at a few places on the path. That was greatly appreciated! One thing I noticed were some picnic tables by the kangaroo exhibit. Im not sure, but I presume the zoo allows picnicking there, which would be a neat experience!
Its a great zoo for a small town.
Best time of year to see all the animals! Babies, babies and more!
Amazing time @ the behind the scene. Well worth the time and money, thank you to Angie the zoo keeper for the awesome tour.
Nice zoo. Worth it to see it
A great little zoo to take the kids to. They have added alot of new features over the years and the petting zoo for the little ones is great.
Nice place for a family outing. I found myself wishing that my adult children were little again, however they liked it regardless. They have a wonderful childrens area and this is a great zoo for the size of Watertown. We went in the afternoon so many of the animals were sleeping, so maybe mornings are better. They have a diverse selection of animals and I liked the American Bison the best.
Its an amazing zoo where kids can have fun
What a surprise for a small town. Wonderful zoo. We got there as it opened so they were feeding many of the animals and we got to see them. Nice exhibits, friendly staff and not too big. We spent about two hours.
Grandkids enjoyed. And Pete and I did get the Grandparents membership
My family loved this zoo! Small, but their motto, “get closer” is no joke! They have spacious exhibits, but we’ve never been so close to bears, eagles, condors, tigers, bison, and camels. Such a great place, very pleased we took the time to stop.
A cozy little zoo with activities for kids and a variety of animals.
I’m a little confused on how this is considered the second largest zoo in South Dakota. It seems smaller than the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls. There really aren’t that many animals here. This is a nice place for kids with the petting zoo and play area but the animal exhibits were pitiful. The animals just look miserable here. I would drive the extra hour and a half to Sioux Falls to see the Great Plains Zoo again before I came back here.
Small zoo, lots of different animals for the zoo.
Great animals very cute wolves
Would you expect one of the best zoos in the region to be in a town of 20,000 people? Me either! But Bramble Park is fantastic. And if you have a (very reasonable) membership it makes for a very nice place to have a bit of a walk with some nice scenery.
Everyone loves a zoo. This one does not disappoint.
This zoo was awesome! Great variety of animals and nice setting. We had 5 boys 7 and under and they all had a wonderful experience. I recommend this zoo highly.
Such a nice place to go. Ive been going here since I was a little kid!
The monkeys are always great
I really enjoyed this zoo. It was very well kept and the animals appeared to be in great health. I would most definitely visit again. Recommend stopping in if you are passing through or live near the area.
Bramble Park Zoo is a great zoo to visit anytime. They do a great job keeping everything clean and the animals are well cared for always.
One on the best places to visit in watertown
A great little zoo! Just the right size for a 4 year old! We had just enough energy left to go back and look at the animals we liked the best! For the price this little zoo is a great day trip to Watertown
Great small zoo. Lots of variety in animals. Our favorites were the sloth and armadillo.
Awesome zoo
Great variety of wildlife
Really cool place. We had a Munzee event in the morning then at two they had their Zoo Boo even and the parking was crazy
Good a to go to see all of our friends.
Where kids can have fun and learn at the same time
It was so worth the drive from Sioux Falls. Loved how cute it was. Spent 2 hours there on my birthday.
Best Zoo in South Dakota. Close up encounters with the animals. Clean building, friendly staff, and affordable.I recommend getting a yearly pass if you have kids who will want to go more than once in a year.
Love this zoo!! My kids always have a blast and the staff here is so friendly and helpful
Great fun! Very well maintained and updated. Full of educational material on every exhibit. Plenty of play areas for children.
Fun little zoo. Not a huge place but they have a good variety of animals and the price is pretty cheap.
Awesome place to go an see animals thank you for the free day you give each year it helps the people who cant afford to get in and have treats
Little but nice Zoo, especially considering Watertown is not that large of a city. The zoo has a nice section of local animals as well some information on how the Native Americans lived. We also thought it was very nice that they had the Lakota name for each animal.
Wonderful animals but so sad the beautiful magnificent leopards & tiger have such a small cage/prison to spend their lives in. Needs an overhaul to give them a space worthy of them so can have a better life then pacing back & forth in such a prison. The whole zoo needs better spaces for their wonderful animals. Visit Fargo Red River Zoo.. we dont have big cats as have cold weather species but well run & accredited breeding program as have more offspring from endangered species then most zoos.
I was disappointed that so much of it was closed, the childrens zoo and the play area !
Best zoo ever
It was a lot of fun
Excellent zoo for such a small town. I loved the Amur tiger!
Nothing wrong with a nice afternoon at the zoo. Nice size lots of stuff to see.
Such a great addition to the city and an unexpected find for a town this size!
Fun - even for those without children. My wife and I spring for a family membership every year!
Very good the children enjoyed it and was very excited to see all the animals they never seen before
Really like it it was a spur-of-the-moment thing but most important my seven-year-old grandson thought it was great then it was great
Bramble Park Zoo is always a great place for the whole family. They have something for all ages. Very well operated.
These people take great care about animals. Something I would loooove to do as a job. For a smaller town, I recommend this zoo to the animal, and rock lovers. The mining addition is fun and well worth the money. I still cant get over the perfect landscaping, and squeaky clean floors. Thank you for our many experiences (and more to come) every time weve been here!
My son loved it. Great employees and tons of stuff to see.
Nice clean zoo with ample attractions to keep us entertained for a few hours.
Love this place. Thank you so much for the free day.
Perfect size zoo to spend an afternoon with the kids. If you go early, (11) you can see them feed the bears! Kids love the petting zoo area.
Beautiful park setting with lovely landscaped grounds. Lots of different animals and birds living in large, clean, shaded areas. A great sandbox play area for young children. And dont miss the barn where a very friendly chicken roams free. A wonderful place for people of all ages where we can see & learn about the creatures that share the planet with us.
Small zoo but very nice with a descent verity of animals. A bit off the beaten path if traveling the interstate but worth stopping in.
Really nice for its size. Kids love it and the goats like people to pet them.
My girls ages 3 and 5 absolutely loved it. The Tiger was really close! It was so cool to see such an amazing animal that close...Also the black panther and jaguar were AWESOME to see.
Tiny zoo. Can literally walk the whole thing in 10-15 minutes. They do have a active tiger though that can keep your attention if you come on the right day.
We drove from Sioux Falls and do not regret this at all! Great zoo!
A great little zoo. Plenty of animals to see. Very clean.
A nice little zoo. Nice park and nice exhibits.
This is a neat zoo with a lot to do for all ages. They have a good variety of animals and the entry fee isnt bad at all.
My son loved the petting zoo and the feeding of the bears.
