Great for football! Only a few menu items but everything tastes great. All food and drink is ordered through an app linked by a QR code on your table. Simple, easy, low social contact. Edit: the staff is absolutely fantastic as well. They really make you feel welcome and genuinely seem like they want you here, which in the current social climate is a rarity in this industry.
You enter Penn Social and you think okay this is a pretty cool, spacious place, so you order a beer and get to questioning the stairs, and then you realize the place is absolutely gigantic. Theres a whole other world down there, complete with skeeball and cornhole. And tremendous TVs for watching the sports.
Penn Social is a massive, incredible facility. The first floor is just a light bar area with a smattering of tables. However the basement floor - and I say floor with a caveat because its more like a complex - has an incredible array of table areas, bars, games, and more. The drinks are good and moderately priced. The facility is a bit dark and can get a bit crowded at typically high-traffic times but it is a really good, relaxed, spacious, fun place. Ive enjoyed it over the years for everything from happy hour to one-on-one hangouts.
This is my go to spot anytime I have friends in the DC area. Its a really cool large arcade bar with a lot of games to occupy your time. The bartenders have always been friendly and helpful. Also, it has the epic arcade game Killer Queen, which is a must play for anyone who loves arcade games. Every time I bring a new person here they always love it. Recently, they started using a card scanning system, which is OK, not a huge fan of it as it commits you to putting down larger amounts of money. Either way, its still a lot of fun and worth the stop.
This is a fun place to go for a beer with friends. Service at both the up and down bars is good, and beer selection includes lots of local brews. The arcade games are a special plus. Taking off a star for the funky smell downstairs due to the gross beer-soaked carpet. Still, its not bad.
It is a really a great place in heart of DC. The games are super fun. We had been here for a private event organized by our work place. Who knew apart from the games the karaoke would be a hit.
Great sports bar to watch games. In the basement there are numerous TVs with different games depending on what’s going on. Good for groups. Good selection of beer. Also a great place to catch Big Ten football games.
Great place to meet up for happy hour and play games. Just wish the drinks were priced more fairly.
Honestly appreciate places like this to go out to or come during happy hour. The crowd here is very mixed and that is due to the fact that this establishment caters to a variety of interests. When you walk in the top floor looks like a relaxed bar seating area with tables, arcade games scattered along the walls, a bar, and shelves with board games. If you want to relax and play games and share convo that can be done here. On the contrary if you desire a more upbeat night with dancing then the downstairs area offers a massive open space with dancing, live dj, arcade games, and the bar. You make this place what you want to get out of it. It has potential to be a low key relaxed night or a high paced club night. I played some games, drinks if not happy hour were expensive $9 a beer in a plastic cup. Good beer selection on tap. Definitely would come back on a Friday night.
I went there with friends we spend a great time. Great services. Live performance was awesome. Great happy hour. Food was fresh and high quality.
The bar was fine, but it was loud. We ended up leaving after an hour. It is cool that they have a happy hour on the weekend!
Nice place to hangout. Plenty of good games, does a great job showing sports, and has beers you actually want to drink in pitchers.
Awesome place for a Saturday daytime. Good drinks with a lot of games. Played cornhole for 3 hours. Awesome place to watch games.
Nice open area and entertaining atmosphere. Great bartenders! Thanks for a nice social experience.
Incredible TV volume!! Couldnt even hear my friends, but I could certainly hear the TV!! After all, isnt TV viewing the reason you go out with friends?
The food was BANGIN! But the games were broken and far and few in between. The balls were flat at the basketball stations. And the green controller at the walking dead game didnt swivel a full 180°. Made playing extremely difficult. Then the there were no board games in our section. I had a good time but it could have been a lot better.
Service was terrible. Bartenders made it very clear they did not want us there.Very rude staff. Will never be returning and will ensure we spread the word. Don’t waste your money.
Awesome experience. Great Food, fun, drinks and the golfing experience was a great combination for a good time. Everyone was very accommodating. I will definitely go back.
I have been born and raised in dc dont like the bar settings but I had my first and far from last bar experience it was everything lots of games good food and the perfect vibe will be returning this week
Always something going on. Even though there is plenty of space it can get crowded especially if there is a really important game on. Typical bar food. Lots of drink selections. There are also games to play if you want to mix it up a bit.
The bouncer wouldnt let me in at 12:01am on my birthday because my ID was technically expired. I am well above 21 btw and look it with a beard and head full of grey hair. At some point you have to use common sense. The staff was rude and didnt seem to care at all.
Great place to chill with friends and have fun. Not too loud and has entertainment for everyone.
Very fun place to watch a sports game. Good drink prices. It can get really crowded and really loud, so just be prepared for that in case. Bar food is pretty much just bar food but their chicken poppers are tasty. They have arcade games like basketball and ping pong too
Very cool space. Vinyl fest was a great event.
I went for a happy hour event for a training class on a Wednesday night. I presume the crowd vibe is different than on the weekends. It seemed popular with other work events that day. It was a fun social activity!
Huge sports bar. Not a ton of character but a decent spot to watch football with friends.
Super fun! Came here for happy hour, and had a good time. The beer selection was okay, nothing special and not a lot of local stuff. The venue was so cool, and we didnt even realize there was a whole downstairs before leaving, so wed definitely plan on spending more time here in the future. Dont sit at the bar during happy hour unless youd like to be just absolutely mobbed with people in your personal space.
They charged me an extra $65 dollars on a bill that was $20 originally. They didn’t even give me my itemized receipt. I tried to get the bartender’s attention but he acted like I was not there. I went to management to explain the story and she said that “If you thought there was an issue with your receipt, you should have asked the bartender to explain it to you.”
Fun evening! cant wait to come back. the drinks were a good price and the staff was cool!
Awesome atmosphere for big parties and get-togethers. Also has Dragons Ascent!!
Lots of fun hereLove watching the games hereSo many cool people and lots of space to move around
Closing times aren’t accurate (closed at midnight instead of 1 am as stated online). Kicked us out without letting us finished the drinks we ordered. Does offer games etc.
Enjoyed my time
Great atmosphere and bar with old school style arcade games and reasonable food prices!
Things I like about PS: lots and lots of space, different vibes in different segments of the bar, relatively cheap drinks (pitcher of Miller Lite is $20), arcade and board games.Things I dont like about PS: the service, the quality of food, beer quality (so much flatness). So, go for the crowd -- not for the consumption.
Awesome bar with great beers for beer fans. Theres tons of games, most of which are free. We played pong and Cornhole and drank for a few hours and had a great time. Definitely will be back.
Went for trivia. Spacious and plenty of seating. While the food was Meh for a decent price, the chicken poppers were great but I expect they were frozen chicken nuggets that were baked.
We enjoyed our time here - fun games, great selection of music, and good drinks! We went on a Saturday night and listened to live music from a local band. Overall, great experience!
The atmosphere is amazing but the Bartender we had was terrible. He asked my husband to sign a receipt that had someone elses order on it because Ill fix it after you sign it & then tipped himself 5$ on our final receipt. Hopefully the other Bartenders are better but beware & make sure you check your tab before you sign the receipt.
Good selection of beer. Large venue. Games are limited and mostly require purchase of a charge card.
Very fun environment and very unique! Loved it!
I love everything about it. Im a dancer so it works for me
Great location for team outings. Lots of games and activities. Minutes away from metro. Good food for value (the wings are lit).
Drinks were decent, atmosphere was good and crowd diverse
They close a bit early on sundays but it was a great time
It was nice had fun. Not to crowded. Good music...
Good selection of beer but not a great place to hang out. Felt very sticky and unclean.
I love the unity of how everyone has come together and just celebrated the Home team with the Biggest Win of there Life.
This is always a fun sports bar style stop. The bread they serve is their signature and it is delicious. The rest of the food ya about the quality you’d expect from a sports bar. Perfect before a game or show at Verizon center.
The spot to watch DC sports while enjoying some drinks
Fun place to hangout, great foods and services as well.
Simply put, this is a young cliche hangout for people in their 20s with lack of food or drink selections. Floors are sticky like a college frat party, games only working half the time and the music that you would imagine.
Went here on a date. The games were okay but very crowded and couldnt always hear my date. I recommend starting in the dining area upstairs then going downstairs. Great place to watch sports games. Good closing time. The nachos were okay- came out kind of cold.
It was real chill, staff was friendly, wasnt over crowded, real cool crowd of people. Some of the furniture was a lil wore but overall good place to watch sports and have fun
Lots of outgoing people talking about writing tools. Gets a little loud sometimes with all the chatter about fountains, ballpoints etc., but the drinks and service are great
Over from the UK and chose this place to watch the Superbowl; liked it so much I came back the following two nights!! Only drawback I saw was they only serve bar food (wings, chips etc), but that said, the food was excellent and really good portion sizes. Highly recommend if youre after a chilled sports bar.
Great place to watch sports! Staff is great remember you and what you drink (tip accordingly!)
Visiting with friends over the weekend. Her and her co-workers got extremely terrible headaches and nausea after having 3 mixed drinks over the course of 4 hours, which is very unusual for anyone. It makes me question the substance of the alcohol at this location.
I came here for an esports watch party. The place was packed but the a staff handled everything really well, great venue with big TVs, good food, cold beer and an exciting ambience. What more do you want?
$5 14oz Miller $7 14oz Sam Adams. A little much for beer. Nice place. Sort of Irish pub feel with all the woodwork. Definitely some drunkards.
Cool bar with lots of fun games. Food isnt great, but everything else is
Great place, went before a Caps game. It was packed but we got our food fairly quick and were able to get drinks without a problem. Wish there was some more seating, but I wouldnt ask them to get rid of the games for anything.
Big change. Alot of fun. Great as atmosphere!!!
Amazing location, perfect for anyone who wants to drink and have a good time.
The place is not bad regarding the facilities. Nonetheless, the guy at the door is someone who barely has any idea of some modals and decency. We got to the place with some friends because we were supposed to meet with a local guy, and as the guy saw that we were not from the place he just behaved as if we were some kind of burglars, or undesired people. For the rest, its just another sports bar with some games. Most of the people that attend the place are people from offices nearby.
The guy at the door was so rude, oh my! This was a event with the company where I work at, I cant imagine how this person is with the people who used to go there just to eat or for a drink.
Staff is amazing !! Especially the bartender, Marlon. He was attentive and his drinks were on point ! Also, our waiter Richard was the bomb! We never had to look for him, he was on top off everything.
It was nice, good service and good food, I was there for a work summer fun event. Theyre were some fun games.
It was nice, good service and good food, I was there for a work summer fun event. Theyre were some fun games and we did a trivia game and karaoke.
Very Loud.. good bar grub and drink specials. Lots of board games. Millenial central.
Way bigger than I expected! Here for a football game and its set up well and not extremely packed like everywhere else
Great place in dc to drink and play games
Pretty cool sports bar, downstairs area is huge
Great place to watch a myriad of football games
They have good food and a decent beer selection, although mostly Ales and IPAs. They have a variety of board games you can play. Had some issues with game machines not working right and still taking credits, and a pinball machine that only half works. Would recommend if youre going to watch live sports, but could use some work on the gaming side.
Crowded af but nats won! #GONATS
Fun activities and great atmosphere.
Great place for board games and hang out
It really strikes me as an upscale dive bar. Lots of video games, which were fun. Good selection of beer with some local varieties.Three stars as it is not my personal preference. Loud post-college scene.
Great happy hour, great service and great atmosphere.
Excellent place for happy hour and all kinds of games! Good beer selection.
It was cool....much bigger than I expected.
