Wonderful structures for climbing. Interesting slide structures too. Nice field for games. A bit of maintenance is needed.

Sherwood Recreation Center is a recreation center just south of H Street along 10th and G Streets Northeast. The rec center itself is large, but its closed due to the pandemic. What is open is the playground and its spacious leaving room for families to safe distance. Still, masks are required.Near the tennis courts (yes, the courts are open too) are a few D.C. statehood murals part of the mayors campaign to make D.C. the 51st state. Theres a rainbow-colored mural, a rose mural (D.C.s flower) and a few others by local artists.

Nice facility with plenty of off street parking. Spacious and good programs for children practicing different sports. The childrens park is well built and has a nice circular path for children to run or ride bicycles. Fun place and very convenient for those in the neighborhood.

This review is only for the playground: awesome playground. Its small but still has a variety of activities for children of many different ages. Pretty clean too. The grass lot adjacent to the playground is also well suited to older kids running around and playing. Deducting a star because there isnt much shade to sit in, so its not a fun place for really hot summer days.

I use the gym every once in a while. Dont expect LA Fitness, but for a free community gym, its perfect. It has a squat rack, bench, dumbbells, a hand full of machines, and more for weight lifting. As far as cardio, it has a treadmill, elliptical, stair climber, and a bike or two.Pretty solid option for a community gym!

The outdoor playground is really large and involved for a city playground with nature walk, musical toys and huge climbing structures good for older kids. There are tennis and basketball courts, and a track around a field. Its great to be at a rec center playground b/c of bathrooms. The workout gym looks small but nice.

Mostly went for the weight room, which was seriously old school. I could still do my workout, but weight collars were the old squeeze and slide type, no deadlifting rubber plates, some weights had rust holes in them. Just not up to the par folk would be used to. But cheap... only $7 for outta town residents, free for locals.
