In 1969 my finance now my wife saw two concerts . One had stevie wonder as the warm up for the supremes, that was before they were called Diana Ross and the Supremes and the second show had Bill Preston, called the fifth Beatle warming up for Ray Charles . Those two nights were two memorable shows .

This former gem of the National Park Service has fallen into disrepair. It has good memories in its bones but needs lots of work. The community is starting efforts towards that restoration.

They host the Citi open which a great event to attend with family or friends. They have food, drinks, games and parking is fairly simple. All summer long the have concerts including jazz, hip hop, and reggae. They will also show movies time to time. This year, they showed The avengers. Bring your family, play in the park, visit an event and have a blast.

I love summer concerts here. The good:- Its a really chill environment.- Sound quality is great.- They redid the entire seating area a few years ago so the seats are not your typical park seating. Theyre comfortable and dont have splinters. (lol)- Most events range from free to cheap.- Park Service police officers now allow you to take pictures (or at least thats what I saw). The bad:- There arent a lot of restrooms though so the lines are long.- Since its not metro accessible youll have to catch an S bus, a cab or drive.- Parking is a bear. If you get there early you can get a good spot in the parking lot but it will take you forever to get out after your event is over. Parking in the neighborhood isnt so bad but its a neighborhood so that parking is limited.- You can bring your own food but no picnic baskets, coolers, glass or alcohol.- Once you go in theres no reentry.- Spray yourself to keep the bugs off.

I LOVE this place. It the most entertaining, enjoyable and inexpensive place to go during the summer on the weekends. You can relax and experience the pleasure of seeing different performers from the Stylistics, Manhattans, Chilites, War, AWB, etc. It is AWSOME and I am there every summer and not to mention the environment is always peaceful.
