After many years of passing this historic site I finally went in as a part of a tour honoring the 144th anniversary of Ms. McLeods birth put on by the NPS. When you think of all the amazing and influential people who once stood in the space you stand....wow. If you are into NPS Passports they do have a stamp!
The history behind Mary McLeod Bethune is very important and for that fact alone, its worth stopping at this museum. Like many museums in D.C., its free and open throughout the week. However, it is TINY. Its a small row home in Logan Circle with two floors with several rooms. If you know about Mary McLeod Bethune beforehand, its interesting. If you dont. Google her when youre there. The museum does very little to educate you on her life. There arent helpful posters throughout the museum. Your best bet is to go on one of the few tours they do to actually learn about her.
Mary McLeod Bethune was a titan of the civil rights movement that is not as well recognized as she should be. Many thanks to the knowledgeable, enthusiastic and incredibly helpful National Park Service staff at this site. The Bethune House is one of a number of sites in the Logan Circle area that are managed by the NPS, and we look forward to visiting more of these next time.

Loved it
It was awesome seeing first hand one of descendants be immortalized and honored in such an amazing way.
Nice and informative park rangers. Why would a President of the United States want to put them out of a job!
Was a great experience. Bucket list experience
No handicap ramp or elevator to accommodate people with disability.
Great history lesson
It was so beautiful .
Very disappointing. We are arrived arround 9:30. The front door is locked, so we cant reach the inner doors bell. Calling the telephone number leads to a maze of extensions and a full mail boxARRGH
Right now it is closed due to renovation. It will reopen September 15, 2018. I was a little disappointed, but I am glad they are taking measures to preserve the museum.
Wish we could have went inside:-(
Interesting photo exhibit of not only Ms Bethune but other relevant historical African Americans of her era
