Such a fun experience! My group did The Dig and escaped!! The clue master made sure that everyone wore masks and implemented COVID safety measures that made all of us feel comfortable.
Omg that was an amazing escape room. The staff was so nice and took so many precautions when it came to covid-19 . I felt so safe. I cant wait to try again. If you want a challenge, this is your place. Well worth the money.
It was fun!! Definitely recommend it to people who love to solve puzzles!! Staff was so nice, patient, and extremely helpful!! They take great precautions for Covid and even provided hand sanitizer and disposable gloves.Thank you for such a wonderful time!
I took my boyfriend for his birthday and we had a lot of fun. The staff was friendly and super helpful. And they also reassured us that this place was as clean as ever. We still wore the optional gloves provided by them for extra safety measures. Sadly we came about 15 minutes late and paid for it in the end. I think if we were on time or early we might’ve escaped the room. Even still, we got a lot of help and hints and it was still very exciting. If you think you’re any good at finding clues and solving mysteries or, if you just want to play spy for an hour like all of us inner children do lol I highly recommend. The only reason it’s not a full 5 stars is the price and it was challenging wish they had different rooms with different difficulty levels. I’d definitely need a beginner room cause whew some of those hints were going over my head lol but like I said it was still fun and we had A LOT of help
Escape rooms are quickly becoming our thing. This is the 4th I’ve done this past week in the DMV. The design and theme production was awesome. Very immersive. Loved that it multiple rooms and Puzzles beyond padlocks and keys. Game master was great, patient and had good energy for the teens. She gave just enough hints without taking away from the experience to keep them on track. Will return for another.
Best escape room we’ve been to! We did the agency room and it was amazing! No spoilers, but let’s just say there were pleasant surprises throughout the experience. Also, the guy running the place was an absolute delight. I was there with my children and he made our experience truly memorable. When we were stuck, he would provide clues on the monitor and make funny comments. My kids had an absolute blast! He even let us stay longer and finish the room because no one had booked the next time slot. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we will definitely be going back to do another room very soon.
Amazing room, high ceilings, fully interactive, and felt independent but had lots of critical help points. I think there should be a monitor up in both rooms to lessen the amount of time running back to see it but otherwise well worth the money! Something fun to do during COVID!
We had a BLAST!! Though we didnt finish in the hour, we did make it to the last room! I definitely would go again! Be ready to really use your head and please take the full amount of people that can go in! The more brains used the better! We social distanced the entire time as well! They provided hand sanitizer and gloves! We wore our masks the entire visit. And everything is sanitized after each use! Definitely worth the money spent! ️
Definitely a fun thing to do with the family. Team work is definitely key.. We will be returning to try out the other rooms.. COVID-19 safe. I’m glad my kids had a great time..
We did the Jurassic escape room and by far one of the best themed rooms we have done. Staff is very courteous and helpful. Amazing practice of social distancing and cleanliness during this pandemic. 5/5
Escape the Room DC features the best escape rooms I have ever done. Ive done many at this point and their rooms are built and laid out excellently and display very fun themes! The staff is friendly and can offer great help if needed.
Great experience! They were very accommodating. We had a great time with “the dig” great elements with multiple doors opening and lots of puzzles to get your Brain flowing. Will definitely be back!
Love! Great COVID protocols and precautions. They sanitize and the gentlemen who helped us (I believe his name was Derek) made our experience even better! 100% recommend.
So much fun!! I was surprised that we won with just 3 seconds left!! One hour felt like 10 mins
Went yesterday during Covid season and had a great experience. They stagger the sessions of diff rooms so people shouldnt overlap, and even give each individual room a lot of time to breathe and get cleaned after each party of people. And they have a new HVAC system too to help. Felt very safe in a pandemic and that matters to me. Also the room was very fun, clues and puzzles very fair, and our guide was enthusiastic, helpful and kind. Will be back for sure!
Escape the Room is awesome, the clues and hidden gems are challenging and clever but very fun. If you have yourself a good squad, check out and see if you can beat the timer before its too late.
Awesome experience! Did the Jurassic room and it was one of the most intricate and detailed escape rooms I’ve done. The staff follow lots of thorough social distancing protocols, which made me feel safe throughout the whole experience. Hope to be back soon.
Mike was super friendly and was very safe. There were no other parties waiting and everything was cleaned prior to our visit. We’ll definitely be going back!
Great Customer Service, awesome escape room! The Jurassic Escape is the one we chose and it was so well done. Very happy that we went here today
Awesome experience. Only gripe was, there should be multiple monitors in other rooms because having to go back and forth to get hints from the monitor took time away from the game.
Always a fun time at this escape room. Their COVID precautions were also wonder. Fully no contact, and gloves and sanitizer available upon arrival.
It was fun but challenging they help you out if it is obvious that you are stuck on a part. They were very good with sanitization and following the health guidelines. I enjoyed my time escaping or attempting to escape lol
We did Jurassic Escape. It was my first time doing an escape room, I’d have to say it was really fun and the cluemaster was friendly & very helpful lol definitely doing this again!
My group did the Jurassic Park room which was awesome! It is super realistic and challenging but overall one of the best escape rooms Ive ever been to. Definitely looking forward to trying the other rooms there in the near future!
The place was fun. The challenge were exciting. There is something to do if you came in early and they still accommodate you if you are late. The place might be hard to find though since there is no big signs to lead you where to go.
Had a great time at escape the room. My room moderator was AMAZING (Brown skin girl with blonde natural hair). the attitude of the owner (I’m assuming) would’ve made it 5 stars if it was better....wonderful experience over all.
Terrific fun. We were so close. I think the second time I do an escape room, I will actually beat it, and a third time I may actually complete it in less than 40 minutes. I will definitely be doing an Escape Room again, and recommend it as a fun and challenging experience.
Had A Really Good Time.
We have done a bunch of escape rooms in many cities. This one was among the best. We went as a family event with seven in our group. The escape room was well designed, looked great and really made us feel like we were in the setting. It was tough. We worked hard to get out in time, but just missed the deadline which was rough because our friends all completed it weeks earlier. It was a blast and we will be back on our next visit to the District for another room.
We had a great time escaping The Agency! The quality of the room and attention to detail was impressive. The staff were helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend it!
So much fun trying to figure out how to get out of these rooms. My group failed but it was still very fun trying. The teamwork was great
We had so much fun! This was our second time and we would love to come back. This time, we got combined with another group and they were cooperative and hilarious. More minds were needed because The Agency room was definitely challenging.
This was one of the hardest rooms yet and we were told the first team to escape! So that is very exciting! Clean and good atmosphere, friendly staff and lots of good restaurants around to get a bite before or after. Thank you Escape Room DC!
I wanted to go to an escape room with my family but no wanted to answer the door and we are still here 50 minutes later so.. yep
Went with my husband and had a room to ourselves. It was both challenging and fun, might’ve been easier with a group. We enjoy these escape rooms so much.
Secret Agent Simms here...we nailed it! We had lots of fun. Great quality room and puzzles to solve. We will be back soon to try another game.
We had a wonderful time. It was difficult to find clues so my suggestion is to work as a team, have fun, and look through everything.
Visiting Escape the Room was a very pleasant experience with my coworkers. They have 3 different rooms to choose from with varying difficulty levels. We chose The Dig which was pretty challenging but not impossible to figure out. The building is pretty secured and is a little difficult to spot if you are not from the area. I plan on visiting again in the future to try the other two rooms!
Did Jurassic Escape with the family and another group of people. Great room with good production values and solid, logical puzzles. It was an exciting adventure and we made it out with only a few well-timed hints from our excellent room guide. Would like to try the other two rooms as well before we leave DC.
Good puzzle, great location. Fun team-building experience. One small equipment malfunction but that’s happened in other escape games I’ve done.
Fantastic escape room experience! A little difficult to find as we didnt see any outside markings, but well worth the effort to find and cost to get in.We did the Jurassic Escape room and managed to survive with only 2 minutes and 30 seconds left. The rooms were very thematic and held some excellent puzzles. We needed more clues than we liked to get through, but it was still a great joy. The rooms have some amazing scenery, great animations/sounds, and a lot of interesting moving parts.
Not bad.
It was a fun experience! I love that clues are provided on a screen for all to see.
Escape Room DC is location in a very secured building. You need a key code to get in. The staff is very welcoming and polite. When it comes the to game itself, it could be very challenging for first comers. This does not take away the fact that it is very fun and exiting. We were a group of five and made the best of it. I would definitely recommend it!
My husband and I came here on a date and we had a good time. We were paired up with 3 other couples who were all nice, friendly and helpful. The staff was friendly energetic and helpful. The lobby had fun puzzles and games while we waited. Over all a fun time. BTW we Escaped
Great game and absolutely terrific Clue-Master. We held a team building event and will likely do so again. Groupon offers a good discount as well.
Fun experience. It’s better to call ahead and book a time with them. The games are 100% brain teaser. Please keep your eyes on the tv for your clues. You can’t take photos or videos while in the game so you don’t spoil the surprise for those who haven’t been there yet. You can go there on a date or as a group. Prepare to be blown away.
GOTTHIS LOCSTION ANDDOORS WERE LOCKED AT 7:30 on a Friday night NOBODY ATTENDING TO THE PHONE after 7 calls DO NOT WASTE YOURPARKING MONEY OR TIME!
It was a Birthday surprise and I Loved the experience and it was fun will be back soon
This was a first time and last time experience for my group, we did Jurassic Park. We have done other escape rooms but none in DC. The scenario was explained but nothing about the number of clues or if they were unlimited, if we needed to bring items with us from room to room or if they were one and done. The facilitators communication style was not aligned so when we asked for clues it caused more confusion then assistance, this is after the delayed response. A few times we requested additional information, only to have Considence? at the end of the statement. I was not sure if that was a question for me to answer but it didnt ignite a fire with anyone. We asked for more information with almost every clue provided. This room didnt follow any logical order, so it was difficult to know what to do next. We were deflated by the end and when the facilitator came in to walk us thru we were ready to get out. We will not be back, I would not recommend this to my friends, family or foes. There are other places with more experienced staff. The customer service is sub par. Not welcoming, not friendly, very dry and if a smile crossed their face it must have been imaginary. There are other places, go there. I read other peoples post and they are spot on about that room. The effects are great but no logic to the order. The GM reached out and acknowledged my feedback based on this post. I declined the offer to return but it means a lot to know someone is reading the comments customers are posting based on our experience at their business. I will update to 2 stars for that reason alone.
This place had some fun puzzles. The room we went through was done well. A bit pricey but again it was well done.
Go to the one in Georgetown instead. Did the Jurassic Room. Clues didnt make logical sense. Could easily open things (locks, doors, etc) without the right codes. Very disappointing.
This was my first escape room event. i really enjoyed the challenge and experience. we are already planning our next escape!
This was by far my worst experience with escape rooms. I went with a group for the Jurrasic room. Its obvious that they put a lot of effort into the decor of the room, but thats where it ended. The puzzles were convoluted and didnt make any sense and the game master kept giving hints, whether we wanted them or not. They must be used to every group not understanding the puzzles. Some of the clues/signs were so worn down that we could not read them properly. The front staff didnt seem to care either. Both on the phone and in person, they seemed to barely acknowledge us, or seem interested on what was going on. They could have been replaced with a sign, and it would probably have been a better experience. The concept of the room was a great idea, but execution and customer service was so bad it was not worth it. Its also a little more expensive than other rooms Ive been to. Not worth the time or money.
Great time. Did this with a couple people and really enjoyed it.
Such a great experience and team building activity! This was a GREAT escape room. I think it may have ruined me for future escape rooms because it was just that good!
This was fairly easy to find, next to pintago & down the stairs. We had to dial in. The staff was super polite & friendly, its a kind of small waiting area but the room (we did jurassic escape) was super immersive and had a ton of really intricate puzzles. It was a really good team building... Code-breaking room escape experience. It was all themed & we think there may have been a glitch with some of the tech but overall it was fun & enjoyable for all. You can bring your phone with you as long as youre not taking photos.
It was soo fun. My friends and I loved the experience. It was very challenging but very exciting. I would recommend the agency room.
This place has you put your thinking cap on. My son and i were paired with a group and together we used our minds to escape the room in an hour. Great bonding experience for myself and my teen.
First, I should say we did this room with two other groups for a total of 9 people with only two experienced escapees. We were not very good at communicating but we would have escaped if we had 30 more seconds. This place was a lot of fun, but some things to know first. This place was rather difficult to find. All three groups for our room had difficulty finding the place. The address is 409 7th St NW and there is a call box to open the doors (call code is 029). Once you enter, go down one floor to the lower level. If you take the stairs, the place is immediately to the right of the stairs. If you take the elevator, exit right all the way to the end and then its on your right. The waiting room has lots of interesting of puzzles to try. The staff member that told us about the room and set us up was a bit lackluster but otherwise helpful with hints and information. The room itself was awesome but I personally found parts a little creepy (we did The Dig). The room was one of those thats a series of rooms and what I found interesting was that it required using clues from multiple rooms to unlock one puzzle. Usually you only use clues from a single room for a single lock.Despite the chaos of three groups of strangers, we had great fun and would most likely come back for their other rooms.
Kiara was an amazing clue master - she only helped us when we were going to break something or when we had gotten a clue and something wasn’t working quite right. The room was awesome - I’m a big fan of multi-room escapes so I may be biased but it was definitely one of my favorite rooms I’ve ever done (The Dig).
It was very fun. I was worried that the event would be too childish or too difficult, but they have a designated person to push your progress so whether you are with a team of elementary schoolers or a group of PHDs, it will still be very fun and enjoyable. IT really challenged the brain and you can tell a lot of creativity, planning, and thought went into the design.
This was our first escape room and we did Jurassic Escape, which is one of the more difficult ones as we found out. It was a lot of fun even though we didn’t get close to finishing!
OMG, this was so much fun. Definitely will be going again!!!
Escape the Room DC was a little hard to find based on directions, but once there the location was very nice. The game (The Agency) itself involved critical thinking and attention to detail. We failed the mission, but still enjoyed ourselves during that time period.
Absolutely loved this experience! Very fun and very challenging! My friends and I had blast!
Ive done quite a few escape rooms in the last few years, and this one is absolutely the worst. We did the Jurassic room, and the only reason Im giving this two stars is because the decorations and effects they had looked very well done. The problems came from a few factors. The game master would not shut up. He was constantly giving us hints despite us not asking for them. Other escape rooms have you ask for hints so that you actually have time to consider all of your options. He literally gave us a hint while we were solving the puzzle for that hint. These puzzles make zero sense. No spoilers of course but there did no seem to be much of a connection between puzzles or clues, and one puzzle in particular has the solution be nearly illegible. Clearly the game master knew the puzzles didnt make sense. In the end, after we won the room, none of us felt like we had actually solved any puzzles. We felt like we had our hands held by someone who was clearly used to people being unable to figure out these obtuse puzzles. Try a different escape room, there are tons out there.
Great experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely will go there again.
Awesome staff & incredible experience, worth it!
Pros: Fun rooms, great difficulty variability in clues and rooms, good story linesCons: Small space in waiting area, hard to find the entrance, varied staff experiences (usually the less than perfect times were when it was a bit busier and they seem overwhelmed, but always nice, just unable to answer questions fully)
It was a lot of fun, very interesting clues!!! I would most definitely do it again!
So much fun! They did a really great job. Whoever was on staff last night was great too.
Great place to go with friends, familys, & partners for fun & team building.
Was awesome. Really enjoyed!!! I went with an adult but next time I will bring my daughter.
Lots of fun and pretty challenging. We did the Dig and we found it more difficult than the escape room in Georgetown. Parking is a bit of a challenge though.
First Time There & I Did “The Agency” & We Beat The Clock.. I Loved It.. Thanks Jay She Was Bomb
My family and I have played more than 80 rooms, and while on vacation in DC decided to play some rooms. We ended up here after a couple of so-so experiences and had some really high hopes. The first room we played, Jurassic Escape, did not disappoint. In fact it is, by far, the best room weve played. It was fun from start to finish, the atmosphere was incredible and the puzzles told an excellent story. I couldnt recommend it enough.*** EDIT ***I WILL add - and agree with others who have reviewed these rooms - that the game masters in Jurassic Escape gave way, WAY too many hints without being asked. To the point that we told him to stop. Were owners, we understand that you want people to get to see everything, but people also pay to solve puzzles, not be told how to solve puzzles. We were so excited after playing Jurassic Escape that we, unfortunately, decided to play one of their other rooms. The Dig. This room was one of the most frustrating rooms we have ever been in, to the point that I just wanted to leave after about 25 minutes in the room. There were, to be fair, some ok puzzles... but there were a lot MORE puzzles that were poorly designed, that didnt make logical sense, and were just not ANY fun. At all. The difference between this room and Jurassic Escape could not be more of a contrast. I actually asked if the same people had designed them both. So, go, play Jurassic Escape. Its worth the $$ in my opinion - even though it is much, much more expensive than other rooms - and you will not be disappointed. Skip The Dig. Their detective room is up in the air, but I wouldnt spend my $$ there again without knowing for sure.
Ive done 3 other DC escape rooms and this was by far the best. Creative, immersive, and challenging.
It was a very well-designed, high quality escape room—one of the best ones I’ve visited!! Had So much fun, and also loved having an amazing staff member (Aisha) who’s helpful and dedicated :-) Thank you!
The rooms were fun and the clues were great. The rooms were small for 8 people so moving around was difficult. Overall great helper and lots of fun.
There are much better escape room facilities around. First off, when booking a room you only book spots for that time slot, not the room itself, so its possible you can get stuck with strangers-which is what happened to us. We got stuck with a family containing two rambunctious sons that were too young to understand how to play the game. They were very loud and distracting. If you want the time slot to yourselves youre instructed to purchase all 10 spots for your time slot, no matter how many people are actually participating. The 10 spots per time slot is another issue. The escape room we did was already a little too tight with 6 adults and two children; it would have been unbearable with 10 adults. Allowing 10 people at a time tells me that this facility cares a more about money than they do about the quality of the experience they provide.Other wise, its ok. Production quality is good. That being said, Ive been to three escape room places so far and Escape The Room DC is the worst one Ive done.
Not the best escape room experience youll find. The actual rooms seem a little limited in terms of budget, prop quality, and support throughout the experience. The game masters were far from energized and into their role. There are only three themed rooms here, and the management team falls short on actually describing the room, classifying and posting difficulty levels, and giving you an idea of what to expect and what makes this escape room different--which I guess is just staff and product quality. We were pretty neutral about our first experience here, and gave the place a second shot. Last night, our second experience was cut short and generally displeasing. The staff had limited energy and seemed to want to just get done with their shift. Although we decided we were not likely to come back to this particular escape room, a few of our friends popped up around 10:15PM and thought of joining us for a larger group experience. There was one more published 11:00PM room after ours, which our friends had looked up and were going to join us for. We had everyone come up and meet us, and with ten people standing at the desk ready to go, we were told we werent expecting any more people so were done for the night. All things considered, there are a boat load of escape room options in the Metro-DC area--this one is just not worth your time. In summary, (1) the customer service is poor, (2) the quality of the experience is poor, and (3) the experience is overpriced.I wouldnt waste my time.
Great team building experience. The Agency room was challenging and engaging.
So much fun! Definitely going back!
Great experience love the details of the room and different clues and events needed to complete the escape!!!!!!
A fun escape room spot with a pretty standard three room setup (we did the dino rooms), might be a little hard to notice from street level, use the intercom to get buzzed in then go downstairs.
Was kind of challenging but super fun. Had a great time!
We had an awesome time! Perfect for team building or simply hanging out with loved ones!~YPT
Great experience, our clue master was very helpful. The only reason I wouldnt give 5 stars is because it was extremely difficult with locating Escape Room. There is no markeet from the street level entrance and the door was locked. The confirmation email also left out the information that we later learned was a code to get into the building.
Last minute booking for a family of 4 on a rainy day. We choose the Jurassic Escape and boy was it fun! The entire family enjoyed themselves and our 5 and 10 year old children wanted to do the other escape rooms more than they wanted to tour the city!
Fun experience while visiting with group in DC! Our group was an 8th grade class and the staff was great about giving helpful hints so our kids had just enough of a clue to work out the problems and solve the mystery and yes, ESCAPE!!! Great way to entertain our eighth graders after a day of sight seeing!
Went for our sons 14th birthday! It was just our family of five. We had such a great time! Would definitely do it again and would definitely recommend these guys. In fact, our son wants to do another one, with is friends, for his birthday party.
Cool escape room! We made it out of the Moon Landing room just in time. It was a really cool twist in the escape room theme, and was really enjoyable. The clues were extra interactive. But despite the theme, dont bring younger kids, it would be to frustrating for them. Ive done over a dozen rooms all over, and I highly recommends this one for a change of pace escape room!
Room was fun. Host was a really nice guy. Would definitely recommend for someone wanting to do an escape room.
