Today is the first day of fall classes in Rhode Island schools and many parents will have to work with their children on distance learning. I can think of few places better than the Touisset March Wildlife Refuge to take a child to expose them to the wonders of nature. There are five or six large pastures, woodlands, bridges over marshes, a cove off the Kickemuit River that is teaming with wildlife and there are nicely maintained trails that are almost tunnels through the trees. Do bring bug spray and watch for ticks, but go early and often to this beautifully preserved spot in Rhode Island.

Honestly we got lost. It was our first time here and the maps around the place are awful. It was nice to see a deer laying in the brush, and the shaded trails were peaceful. They need a better marking system. Like color the trails and change the map so its easier to follow.

A great short nature walk! This is a perfect walk for anyone who wants to get into nature for an hour or two. Its fairly short with gentle terrain making it great for families with young children, or for anyone with limited endurance.
