The exhibits are well displayed and very interesting. I REALLY love the old villages out back. There is an old blacksmith shop, a general store, old school house, church, and even a couple small cabin homes. Nice display of what life on the prairies was like. When I visited a week ago some of the Baylor science students and their professor were hosting a science magic show. They were demonstrating the reaction of Co2 and how it can explode. They were including some of the children from the audience and did a great job getting the children interested in science. Great place forthe family!
Still as interactive as it can be with all the Covid-19 restrictions. They do a great job at sanitizing everything. Plus my kiddos had a blast. A great way to spend a couple of hours.
This museum has so much for all ages. Went with pre school grandkids today and loved the paw patrol exhibit, the TRex skeleton, the water table, the model railroad, the cave, the tornado, the wooden jeep and the outdoor historic village. The staff is wonderful at cleaning everywhere and visitors are all great about wearing masks. Really looking forward to returning to see Baylor and Waco exhibits and more of everything else. Beautiful, accessible location too.
When youre in Waco, Tx you have to see the Beautiful Baylor University and the Mayborn Museum. As a group we decided to see this museum. It really is for all walks of life. Kids especially experience all the STEM( Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), also of course great discovery of artifacts, historical facts of Waco. I enjoyed it much! I definitely would bring my family here to spend a great day learning and having fun!The snake squeeze pressure machine was the highlight of the day! Hard to believe snakes have amazing strength!
Loved it! As a young girl I visited Streckers Museum in the Science building at Baylor University. That was moved to this location and added to. They now display several of the old displays like the giant sea turtle, the 5 tree stump slice and more. The other side of the Museum is mainly for kids but worth walking through. Behind the museum they display Pioneer buildings set up like they would be back in the old days. Military discount available.
The top floor was more dedicated to children than the bottom floor. We as adults still had a blast and enjoyed all the rooms. Our 13 and 15 year old enjoyed it as well. The bottom floor was more history and science. We enjoyed this area as well.Great museum to visit for only $8.00 per adult. Children 2-12 are $6.00A definite must if you are visiting Waco!
Took my 7,5, and 3 year old. They had so much fun and so did I. There are tons of things to explore.
Great setup for kids to play and explore to their hearts content. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly in helping the kiddos out. Strongly recommend
Fantastic, modern museum on the Baylor campus with interactive exhibits for visitors from young to old. Really affordable as well at $8 for adults and $6 for children (12 and younger). The mammoth dig site recreation is very realistic and check out the village behind the museum for a glimpse of life a century ago.
Great time for my 4 and 6 year old kids. Lots of interaction and things to see and do. Close enough to have lunch off campus and return with your day pass. Fun and educational!!!
Excellent musuem with a large, interactive portion for children as well as displays that would interest adults. I really appreciate that I could have grab a coffee near the museum store to give me.some extra energy as my children explored 2 floors of activities. Everyone we encountered was very friendly.
My 3 year old was very sad that yall were closed today because a football game was happening later in the day. It should have been reflected on here as it says it is open today. I know thay can be manipulated through Google, so please make sure its accurate.
Great little museum with alot of knowledge! Throughly impressed with the layout and how much information is on hand.
This a great place to take your kids if you have any. They have multiple floors that have many activities to do. Even adults are able to participate in activities with their children.
New to the town and looking for things to do with the kids and this is GREAT! Awesome place to take kids from newborn - pre teen. Lots of history facts, visuals, and hands on learning. Love the hands on learning btw super cute and my kids 3 & under absolutely loved it. They can run around and enjoy the new things in every room. Price isnt bad at all either. Reason I give 4 is some of the buttons for hands on area didnt work or were a little dirty other than that still good shape! Will definitely go again.
We came and enjoyed the natural history part of the museum then went upstairs to the interactive (read: children’s museum). There were kids 5 and under running around screaming and touching everything, we could barely get in and touch anything without being pushed out of the way. We stayed as long as we could, but it was too long. The natural history part was interesting. I’ve added a picture of a whale skull. There were lots of prehistoric artifacts which were very cool to see. We got there right at opening, it’s a small place, so quick to go through.
This museum rocks! We are definitely coming back. Everything is kept clean and in good shape. So much to see, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to have fun and explore it all.
Great museum, provides lots of hands on activities for kids. The mammoth excavation exhibit and village are a most to experience.
This is a great place to study nature and history. There are numerous exhibits that are interactive and kid friendly too. There is something cool and exciting around every corner. Be sure to download the Waco app for discounts
Nice place! Not a ton to engage middle school ages but still a great place to learn. The upstairs exhibits and experiments are geared more for younger (5-8?) kids.
This is an awesome place to learn about the history of not only Waco but our entire area. The displays and artifacts are well put together and there are alot of interactive displays. My favorite part however is the activity center where you can take your kids young and old to blow off so.e steam on a cold rainy day. If I could give this place 10 stars I would.
Great educational place for children. Our kids love it. Prices to get in are reasonable. Staff keeps the place clean and picked up.
So many different activities for kids to do all ages they differently will not get bored, spent a solid 2 1/2 hours here also inexpensive for the amount if activities they offer, will definitely be going back
My babies loved it! There was so much for them to do and it kept the babies busy for hours. Plus all the staff was so wonderful to help out with my littles.
What a fun place for kids!! All three of my kids, 10-15 months loved all the interactive displays and hands-on activities. The natural history areas were well done and fun for all. Seeing a giant whale skull was really impressive! Not too big of a place, but not too small either. Easily done in one day with other local attractions.
My daughter loved the museum. We came for the doc mcstuffins exhibit and had a blast. I loved the trains and how hands on the kids rooms are!
I have a membership at this museum, have had it for a couple of years. My grand kiddos absolutely love everything about it. Very informative, very good hands on experiences. They have great work shops. My grand daughters absolutely love the tea room! They have a place for kids to sit and have snacks. I can sit on benches and watch them play. And the best thing is that they have different things going on all thru the year. My grandkids have learned so much going there. Great experiences great customer service, great place to go!
Definitely worth the time and money. Clean, complete and the exhibits work and in good repair. Will visit again.
Fun as usual! They are limited to the first floor right now, but there is hand sanitizer throughout for our safety
My kids love this place always something going on ehen we went The TMNT were there. They loved the turle room. We have taken them their twice and they ask everytime to go back.
Had a great time with my daughter here. I didnt know it had so much for kids to do. Not only do they have many wonderful items for adults and kids to enjoy, but the second floor is an interactive learning experience that teach kids a lot about the world around them
This almost seems out of place in Waco. Its an outstanding time for kiddos, but it can be for adults as well. The paleontological section is top notch, as are all the exhibits. For kids though, it is one of the best places they can visit. Its amazing to watch how some things that we may see as simple can spark such imagination.
Very good place for children and adults too ️
Its been fun watching my great grandson Knox run and interact with all the exhibits with his Lolli
2019 was a bit for this place. It gets better every time I go ( which is frequently) the light display and village if the old town by the river was especially outstanding this year and should happen every year. If you build it they will Come. What a blast. Trains were amazing as always and I like the exhibits changing in some areas.
This is a great museum for sure exhibits. The rest of the museum is good, just a little small so the price seems high. For kids though its amazing, tons of stuff to do and at least double the size of the adult stuff. Just went for the Titanic exhibit. It is worth the trip.
Good museum especially if you have young children.
My husband and I went here for date night to see the Titanic exhibit. It was incredible and humbling to see so many artifacts that were at the bottom of the sea for so many years. I loved getting a boarding pass upon entry which had the name of a passenger and a little of their background. At the end we found out if they lived or died (mine lived but she lost everyone traveling with her ).After we saw everything related to the Titanic, we walked around the rest of the exhibits and we were impressed with the way everything was laid out, the variety and the interactive areas. Great place to bring kids or just go to do something different.
If you have kids under the age of 6, they will love this place. My kids are a little older and enjoyed the Naturebots activity. But most of the museum was a little too young for my 8 and 11 year old.
We loved the Mayborn Museum. Its fun and educational for every age. So many interesting and beautiful exhibits. We came for the NASA exhibit and found so much more. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the cost was low. I highly recommend this museum. We are a homeschooling family and have visited many museums over the years and this is our favorite.
Enjoyed a great experience here with my teenage boys. Loved the Titanic exhibit and the outdoor buildings. Would definitely return, lots to see!
Great, fun time for the family. Good activities for young kids; we brought our two girls (2, 1) and they had a great time. Also interesting exhibits for adults.
Enitially went for the Titanic Exhibition, which was great but was pleasantly surprised by the rest of the museum!
We went to the Titanic Exhibition and was great, the entire museum is awesome Second floor is just for kids, super nice.
So much fun and we didnt even get to see it all. You can spend the whole day here and not get bored. Fun for us grown ups too.
Came here with my son and sister during a mini vacation. Loved the variety of the museum and the uncomplicated nature of navigating it. Only downside - they offer coffee for purchase in the museum, but wouldnt let us bring it in the featured exhibit.
This is arguably the best childrens museum that Ive been to in three states. Its a little less than 2 hours from our place, just North of Austin, but well worth the travel. There is something for every age group (and school subject for homeschoolers), in addition to their traveling exhibit. I used to go with my younger siblings and now Im taking my kids.
Homeschool heaven. This place has it all. Education, fun, and family time. Everytime we go its fun. From seeing the mamoths and learning what happened to them to checking out the out door town. Upstairs can get very busy though if there are alot of kids. I recommend going during the week.
Plenty of activities to engage kids. There was Lion Guard exhibit during our visit. Was not able to spend enough time to cover all other items in there. Will definitely visit again, need atleast half a day so, the kids can enjoy the most.
This place is awesome. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Theres something for the entire family (from toddler to man-child). The exhibits are well maintained, interactive, and updated regularly.
My kids and myself had a fantastic Sunday here! So many fun, hands on activities. We cant wait to go back!
All kinds of cool things to enjoy with the family.
Great place to take the kids. Lots of fun activities for the kids
Affordable and about 3 hours of really good entertainment for young kids. I would recommend it for 4-10 year olds.
Loved seeing the Titanic Exhibit!!! Good museum, lots of educational things for kids and adults.
Great experience for the entire family. Childrens museum, dinosaurs, hands on learning, history and a life size turn off the century village.
It was a lot of fun
The Mayborn museum is so much fun! Our family goes at least once a month!
Visited the Titanic exhibit. Seeing the actual artifacts and having a passenger boarding pass really brought the disaster to life. My wife and I were very impressed.
Love it every time. If Im taking my life skills class or my own kids it is always fantastic
This place is awesome and inexpensive. I decided to go when babysitting my daughters friends and brought along my other friend and all her kids. Ages 5months to 11 years old, 8 kids total. Every single one had a great time. Including the little ones who just enjoyed looking around. I would recommend this to anyone with children, even us adults had fun. The trip was also very affordable and they offer a military discount!
This museum is a must see !! Massive facility with an entire outdoor pioneer village. Complete with blacksmith, church, school house and everything youd expect from a small village in those days. You can go inside 99% of the structures and it was amazing. Ive never seen such detail and craftsmanship. The inside exhibit is equally mind blowing, ranging from space to Texas wild life to many other things. Great place. It also has a gift shop. Our kids range from 8- 11 and they all enjoyed it. My favorite was the pioneer grocery and goods store.
Awesome Museum here in Waco! A good size to spend an 1hour or so and not get tired, plus the area is right behind the Brazos River walk paths/ BU stadium! Very pretty and there is a Titanic Exhibit until Jan 6. Also other areas for kids, highly recommend! Additional fee for special exhibits. Cool gift shop too.
Great childrens museum. My twins having going there since they were preschoolers and still love it at age 9. Nice mix of natural history, local history of Waco and hands on Science. The animal science are where they use to keep live animals was closed on our most recent visit for renovations. Looking forward to seeing what they do with the update.
Such a fun, family museum! Be prepared to spend several hours here! So many different exhibits and activities for kids!
I was very surprised with the activity and displays, if you are thinking about take your kids here, please do, the second level has tons of activities to keep them busy.
Great for the kiddo and very safe.
Its the perfect size to explore with my little ones. Perfect for younger kids. Ive been to other childrens museums in Houston and Dallas, but this one is by far my favorite!
Its a cute place. Not much of fancy displays but they are unique. Too bad I wasnt able to see the women history section, but the kids had fun upstairs.
Ive been coming here regularly for ten years. It is still as awesome and the exhibits keep changing so there is always something new.
Our girls loved their experience here. They kept asking us to go back the next several days. They have plenty of hands on activities and ways to teach the kids. I would highly recommend going here at any age as its not directed to any one age group, it has stuff for everyone. Including a very large play area for when the younger kids get tired of the exhibits. The water table was probably one of our girls favorite parts.
What an awesome experience - absolutely perfect five-yeart bring our five-year-old daughter. We especially enjoyed the outdoor village and the Doc McStuffins area. The Christmas tree and display were wonderful and my daughter loved the bubble-making area. Such a wonderful family experience and veryaffordable as well.
Had a wonderful experience. My kids loved it and berry affordable.
Great little museum. The upstairs area has lots of kid-focused activities. Im not sure how frequently they change the exhibits, but Im pretty sure the kids would have fun with them even if its not the first time theyve seen it. The Be the Astronaut exhibit is fantastic, though the simulate are a bit difficult for kids.
This is a great little museum and my kids love it. We go every week. The new backyard ecology exhibits are here and they are awesome!!!
Absolutely love love love this place for my 2 year old and 8 month old. I go with my nephews who are also 2 and 6- we all love it! So grateful to have this place within driving distance!
I had as much fun as the children
Great place for kids, lots of interactive exhibits to keep kids entertained and learning and they will let you bring food and have places inside and outside for families and groups with tables. The bottom floor is mostly historical exhibits with an area that gets changed out regularly and a indoor kid play area. The second floor has mostly interactive and science based exhibits. Outside has a historic town that also has some interactive activities.
Had such a wonderful time today, as usual. It gets better each time my family and I go!
Great place to take the kids! My wife and I were very impressed by all the educational activities for the little ones. Well definitely come back
Great for kids! Visiting exhibit is always awesome! General museum is like a giant playground/fun house for kids!
We came for the Space-X exhibit, but really enjoyed the astronaut training simulators! Decent natural history exhibits for a smaller city. The light & sound and other 2nd floor attractions were really engaging and entertaining, specially for kids. Friendly staff.
Our family loves the mayborn. We try to visit monthly. Great for family’s. Looking for something to do with kids while in Waco this is an awesome learning experience. Very affordable. I highly recommend the mayborn Museum
Great museum I recommend getting the members pass best way to take your kids out of the house not to mention learning about everything from science to history and etc. The best part its made to have fun with everyone
My little one always enjoys a trip to this museum. Always clean and organized with lots for the kids to enjoy all day. However given just how geared this museum is for younger children it baffles me as to why it costs more for adults to enter than kids? This can become a fairly expensive trip if multiple adults go.
Wonderful for kids of all ages! There are so many things to see and do here, including rotating exhibits. For young ones (0-5), there is the a play area specifically dedicated for them. It includes a grocery store (complete with food items and shopping carts), a “dock” and boat where little ones can “fish” with magnetic fishing poles and fish, a school bus and fire truck to “drive”, a food truck, a play home, and more! For older ones, there are many rooms and exhibits that cater to many different interests. There’s a water/bubble room, a tea party room, a music room, live animal exhibits, outdoor historic village, theater, and more.If you’re a local with children (or even grandchildren), the membership is totally worth it. If you’re not a local, this is still a great place to take the kiddos for a fun afternoon.
Had lots of fun was pretty busy when we went lots of kids with no supervision but still had a great time
Bug Bonanza was awesome!
Fun time for my 3 year old and 8 year olds they loved it
We had a blast so much for kids including preschoolers to do. Our 4 year old didnt want to leave. Mayborn Museum is smaller than Fort Worth but its way BETTER
Very cool place for kids to go lots of activities for little kids as well
A lot of fun for kids and families to visit.
Nice facility with plenty to see.A little advanced for most two year olds.Three would probably be a good age to start.
This is by far the best museum that I have ever visited. Lots of hands on learning a d extremely kid friendly.
My girls had a blast and it was inside...in air conditioning!!
My son and I LOVE IT!
Absolutely love it! Were members and if you live in waco and have young kids, you should definitely be a member too! There are so many things to do, you could easily spend a day here. They have a small place with tables where we sometimes eat a picnic lunch. They lend you strollers if you forget yours! An absolute must visit if youre a tourist!
Was great for younger kids. Mine were almost 4 and almost 7. Very interactive. Had an interesting space exhibit. For a little older kids. There were several things not working but we still had fun. The village outside was fun. Price is fair. We were there about 4 hours. Great way to spend the afternoon.
The museum was really cool, but it didnt have a coherent theme. You will find a bunch of random exhibits here. The interactive childrens section of the museum is a lot of fun.
