Went to see a movie. First time going here and it was a great experience. Screen 3, power recliners and full service menu. The food was really good (nachos with brisket). Absolutely will go again.

The food was so much better than I expected! The burger was delicious and those potato wedge fries were perfect. Top it all off with a great movie, best time weve had in some time. Thanks Hippodrome!

Had a great experience at the Hightop in the Hippodrome. It was our first time and it was very busy when we got there. A manager went right up to us to help us get drinks. Once she brought the drinks, she also introduced us to Johnathan. He was very attentive and a good waiter. Will bring my family and friends back. Thank you Mosley and Jonathan for the pleasant experience. My wife loved you guys.

The Hippodrome is one of the best places in Waco! The theater is my favorite because the recliner seats are the most comfortable I have ever experienced. Also I enjoy the food and beverage service that even includes cocktails. During the Covid there are few seats taken so its the top place on my list right now.

If you want an up close & personal concert, than you definitely need to see one here! We had front row seating for The Bellamy Brothers & it was a very intimate experience as we were so close you could nearly touch them. The theatre itself does not have a huge seating capacity which is goid because again your not getting trampled by the masses. Dont except alot of room seating wise, plan accordingly. You most likely will be sharing a drink holder with a fellow patron. Think theatre seating before the world got fancy. The building itself is beautiful and a historical masterpiece. Concessions were a bit difficult to figure out. The conceert was close to dinner but its not like I wanted to order a meal & eat it right there. So there was a restaurant next store (in the same building) where you could order food and drinks but it really wasnt clear if there was a concessions area for a quick snack. Also it cost almost 15 for a small draft beer and 1 mixed drink. I would definitely go again. Maybe Ill do a bit of homework first or toss a snack in my bag. As coke was 3.00 for a cup too

Very nice seats that recline. The popcorn was highly over seasoned to the point of being inedible, and was a tad expensive at $7.50 for a medium sized bag. Drinks are $4.50 a cup. The attendants were very friendly and helpful. All in all we will return just wont partake the concessions.

This is such a great place to see a movie or a small concert. Its the perfect mix of modern in the movie theaters with the food service and reclining chairs. The old Hippodrome theater is over 100 years old. And if those walls could talk!

My friend and I went to brunch Sunday July 27 in the high top. the tables weren’t clean so it was a little discouraging especially in a pandemic. We finally received our food and I’m a little disappointed that the waffles have changed, but it happens. My real complaint is my eggs were cold and the the chicken was bland. I told the bartender my eggs were cold and (not her specifically) but my eggs were put in the heater/ microwave. I know that because when I got my eggs back the plate was scorching hot to the touch, but my eggs were still cold. It was just disappointing. Love the setting though.

The venue was amazing, the food was great, the seats were extremely comfortable, and the service was excellent. All other cinemas Ive been to pale in comparison. Cant wait to go back!

The Waco Hippodrome has the perfect mix of modern and old fashioned. The movie theaters are modern with declining seats and great food service. The concert hall is 100 years old and gosh of those walls could talk!

If youre looking for a unique and classy place to host a wedding reception or other event, I cant recommend the Hippodrome enough. The old theatre has a wonderful vintage and art deco vibe, and they can take care of all your catering needs as well as tables, chairs, linens, and more. Marian Skopik is a fantastic coordinator to work with: really professional and organized, very responsive, and willing to work around our needs and vision and come up with creative solutions. She helped us navigate the difficulty of planning a wedding during COVID-19. You will be in good hands with her.We have enjoyed the Hippodrome throughout our time in Waco for the movie theatre and restaurant as well. Well worth a visit!

The Waco Hippodrome is a great place if you are looking for both dinner/lunch and a movie. The employees are very professional, and provide a great service. The food is great, and very filling. I have enjoyed coming here each time I visit, always a wonderful experience. It is an overall great place, and I will visit again for future events and movies.

Love the entertainment but as for service it sucked big time never got acknowledged or waited on

Absolutely terrible. Asked for a bag of popcorn.... got a bag of salt. Twice. And the Dr. Pepper float had caramel ice cream instead of vanilla and that normally wouldnt be a problem but I just so happen to find caramel ice cream disgusting. Will never visit this place again and do not reccommend it.

It is more comfortable than a normal theater, they bring you food and drinks as well.. but the food is hit/miss the last two times. They kept forgetting a drink and then mushrooms were in my food when I specially asked for none. Great place to see a movie though.

I love going to this theater! The seats, sound, and screens are wonderful. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the service. For example, my fries were cold, so I asked for new ones. It took them an hour to get them to me. Same with Popcorn. I arrived 30 minutes early another day and got my popcorn an hour after I ordered. Instances like this have happened way too often. I recommend going on a slow day; the service is usually better.

This was my first time at the Hippodrome after years living in Waco. Its beautiful! From the moment you walk in, you feel like youve been transported to another time. The architecture is stunning, and theres definitely more to look at than just whats on the screen.

My first experience with this place was good I loved the food. I enjoyed the movie too but my second time I was not so lucky I paid online for the showing of a movie but I wasn’t able to attend due to a family emergency I called to see if they could refund me my money back twice after the lady in the box office hung up in my face who was very rude then I was told that my money couldn’t be refunded by the manager Colton who was very rude and unprofessional after I explained to him that I had my online receipt and all the information I needed to prove that I purchased the showing tickets and wasn’t able to attend he still didn’t refund me the money and he continued to be rude and showing the worst customer service I have ever experienced so I’m never returning to that place again !!!!!

Wacos drafthouse movie theatre! We grabbed brunch at the Raleigh (amazing) and then tried to not fall asleep in their ultra comfortable leather recliner seats. I could never go back to the loud and sticky galaxy theater after this.. Ive been to the Alamo drafthouse a few times and like Wacos version much better. The foods MUCH better, its not as crowded, and if youre an audiophile you will the clean, crisp sound.

Some friends and I came to watch a movie tonight and it took well over an hour to get my food. At the beginning, when I ordered, I specifically ordered certain sauces so that I would be ready to eat when I ordered rather than being interrupted throughout the movie. We pressed the call button at least 3 times to inquire about the status of our order. Each time, we were told “I’ll check on it”. For 2 orders of chicken tenders and a cheeseburger to take well over an hour is absolutely ridiculous. The person who delivered my food had no sauces, no silverware, no napkins, etc. I asked about it and was told that they’d be right back with those things. My food got cold and they never returned. I attempted to eat the food but the burger was greasy and I had no napkins. I called our server over and returned the food and asked that it be taken off the check. Our server was helpful but not necessarily proactive or detailed.I really want to love the Hippodrome. I think there’s so much potential for this to be a cool, fun Waco spot. But, something has to be done about the service and operations. At this point, I can’t see myself returning for any reason.

This is a beautiful, historic theater. The sound is wonderful. Thing is though, Ive gotten sick twice eating the food and had to make frequent runs to the bathroom. I didnt get to see Black Panther until it begun streaming. Get a new cook, please.

A must see while in Waco. What a nice place! Highly recommend! Super clean. Restaurant had great food. Salads, burgers, sandwiches, tacos, etc. Updated theaters with reclining seats and food and drink service while you watch a movie. Love that the character is still there but has been updated. Great venue to grab some lunch, catch a show, see a movie, rent space for a wedding/reception or business meeting. Staff was amazing!

I always love coming here. Most beautiful and comfortable theater ever. That being said...please do a thorough cleaning under the back row seats. We went to see birds of prey and my granddaughter dropped her binky. I bent over with my phone flashlight and my g ou d it us filthy under there. Please clean before you get rats and roaches.

The movie, recliners, and sound are always good. However, at 6pm to 8pm on a Saturday night... I would have expected there to be more than 1 server between 2 theatres. Im still technically waiting on an item, I ordered before the movie started, and I paid for it. The waiter did not take it off my ticket or even offer. The manager did not offer to take it off. We also did not receive our bill until we were leaving the theatre after waiting until the lights came on after the movie to figure out where to pay since we never received the check. *no one in the theatre did prior to the lights coming on and people exiting* We ended up paying in a room with a sign that said employees only area. Customer service was terrible to say the least. We frequent this business pretty often and always buy extras... Not sure our family will return again. I feel like we have given plenty of opportunity.****UPDATED ON MARCH 17th 2020****After leaving my review, I was asked to email them with contact info. I was told in the email that it would be forwarded to management and would be handled. 2 weeks ago, is when I was told this.They had no problems taking my money for something I did not receive, but cannot call/text/email me back about the situation. I believe 2 weeks has been ample timefor some form of a reply.

We love the Hippodrome but the sound quality on the speakers really needs some attention. We could not hardly hear any of the movie because it was too low and when they turned up the volume at our request it was distorted.

By far one of the greatest theater experiences I have ever had. And we have like 10 different theaters back in San Antonio and not one could compete with the Hippodrome. Enjoyed every minute of the visit and the food served was delicious!! Thank you guys for the wonderful memories!!

I want to love the Hippodrome; I really do. I have been there for many events, including dinner and a movie 4-5 times, and I have to say, after several years of trying to serve up dinner and a movie, they still dont have it down. Every time I have tried to enjoy a dinner with my movie, they have been out of ingredients for my first choice on the very limited menu. Tonight, they were out of the local beers offered. We ordered two meals; one did not arrive with the condiments on the menu, asked for said condiments, some napkins, and salt, was promised a return trip with a beer when the new keg was tapped. Movie began, never heard from or saw the server again until it was time to drop off the check. A different server kindly brought us to-go boxes so we were able to pack up our meals.I say this sincerely and without malice, if Hippodrome wants to serve up dinner and a movie successfully, the staff needs to go to Alamo Drafthouse in Austin and see how its done. They run a well-oiled machine. I will do as I have before, swear I will never try to have dinner there whilst watching a move, and after a year or so, I will try again. Because, I want to LOVE it!

Went to see Christmas vacation. Events at the Hippodrome are always a good time. Friendly staff and decent food. Its mostly bar type food do dont go here expecting a 4 star meal but its perfect for a simple fun date.

I’ll start with the positives first! I loved the reclining seats at the Hippodrome! I would go back just for the seats. The food was served very quick and the service was good! However, the food I ordered wasn’t great at all. The Dr. Pepper was flat when I ordered, not once but twice. The burger & fries were okay. I ordered the chocolate chip cookies and ice cream. The cookies were stale and the ice cream was cheap and hard as a rock, I couldn’t even eat it with my spoon. Also, it’s pricey. This place has a lot of potential, but I won’t be going back for a long time.

Waco Hippodrome is first class..... The atmosphere..... the personnel... The seating so comfortable The waitresses are great and the food is good.....movie theaters all been redone you should go to one movie theater and have drinks and food .....Just push a little button and they come to you asking if theres anything I can do for you or get you its a great place you cant go around the prices are good atmosphere is good its all been redone its brand new five-star all the way you cant go wrong

I recently started working as a food runner and I adore this place. The people make the Waco Hippodrome feel like a home and it is the best place to order food and watch movies at. I highly recommend it!

Out of the four times I’ve ate there, three of them made me sick. The person with me got some sour cream that should have been thrown out months ago. The seating is wonderful, and that makes the movie experience in itself, a good one. BUT DO NOT EAT THE FOOD.

What a wonderful place. Love the architecture of the building. It was our first time there. We watched a movie there and ordered food. The food service was not very good. I would not recommend the food service. Our food took forever and they did not bring utensils or napkins. I asked for napkins and the server never came back. I had to get up from watching movie to get them myself. Great place to hang for a movie, or a show, concert, and definitely the rooftop for a drink.

The new theater seating in the new area was fantastic. The power leather recliners had plenty of arm room and were very comfy. I had not been to this place in years because of the bad sound system when it first opened but its great now. 2 adults in reserved recliners was $22 which is more than fair. My only gripe is that the staff is not quiet about taking orders or delivering food. Other than that A+

Clean theater nice seats and good food

The historic building is very beautiful.They serve quality food at reasonable prices.The auditorium utilizes folding chairs,but have thick memory foam and very comfortable.

Loved the new recliners, but the price of food/drinks is really high especially for what you get and the service. We would probably go again, but just not order anything.

The Waco Hippodrome was very nice. The employees were very kind and helped my wife who had a broken foot. The building is older but in very good and clean condition.

Enjoyed playing my first gig after my brain cancer surgery. So pleased!

Love! The atmosphere, the food, the service, the environment, the location. Its in a historical theater, remodeled. Its a nice change of pace from overly crowded mainstream theaters. Small selection of movies at a time but not an issue to me. So far, Ive been twice and plan on coming back. Service at your seat during movie, pay at the end. No complaints!

If you go to the movie theater, get the recliner not the regular chair. The chairs are pretty much office type work chairs that dont stay reclined. I felt like I was sitting at my desk at work the whole time.The upstairs bar is pretty cool and the historic building is fun to explore.

Good atmosphere, good entertainment, drinks. The only thing about the entertainment, we were unaware of no pic taking. There were no announcements, nor signs or at least, no noticeable signs.

My Hippodrome experience has been a rollercoaster. When they first opened and were showing movies in the the auditorium theater, it was honestly the worst movie experience I had ever had. I remember that we had bought tickets to see one of the Hobbit movies, but left within the first 10 minutes. The sound was so bad that you couldnt understand what anyone was saying. I vowed to never go back.Then, they opened up the new theaters with reclining seats. I broke my vow and decided to give them another shot. At first, I was very impressed! The seats were very comfortable, sound was great, and they run only about 3 relevant movie previews before the show. This became my new go-to theater.However, since then, some of the novelty has worn off and Ive realized that the service is absolutely awful. The servers are constantly crawling the isles with their tablets set on FULL brightness, even in the middle of the movie. Why dont they dim the screen?Food service is extremely slow - if you get it at all. Expect to wait at least 30 min to an hour, even if you just ordered popcorn and candy. On my last visit, I only ordered a slice of cheesecake and they never delivered it - but they tried to bill me for it anyway!I also noticed that the servers can really use some more training. They always seem confused. They grab their big trays of food and march up the aisle to stand right in your field of vision while they take out their phones or tables to shine it on their tray, trying to figure out what they have an where it goes. Then they still arent sure, so they go around asking Is this yours? Did you order this? in the general area until they find a taker. When this is happening in the middle of a movie, its very distracting and frustrating. Why didnt they figure out the contents and recipient before they came into the theater?Overall, Im not ready to write off the Hippodrome completely yet... but Im definitely not planning on ordering any more food, and Ill only go to movies once theyve been running a while. Hopefully with less people in the theater, there will be less servers to running around to ruin the experience.

Such a disappointment. The owners lack attention to detail. Theyre cheap, and it shows. The staff turns over constantly. Service consistently stinks due to poorly trained workers and understaffing. Ingredients for food of lowest quality. One positive: the new theaters are nice with good sound.Dont have high expectations for this place. Could be better under different management.

UPDATED REVIEW: To see my previous 4-Star review, please see below. I am updating my review of the Hippodrome to 2-stars based on my most recent experience. I took my family of 6 to see the Lion King. We ordered our food and 6 glasses of water. The food came, but no water. I had to ask for it 6 times, all while watching the waiter come and go with everybody elses drinks. We were done with our food by the time he brought our waters. We werent able to eat the spicy fried Jalapenos though, because there was nothing to wash them down with. I had to call the front office from the theater before anything was done. A manager came and apologized and said he would take a percentage off the check when it came. Well, it came, but there was no discount. I informed the waiter that we were offered a discount and he looked confused. I explained that the manager came, and he said he would go find out. By this time, the movie was over, and we were waiting. He came back and asked me to describe what the manager looks like. I explained, and he left again. He came back and said he couldnt find a manager that looked like my description. He asked me how much the discount was supposed to be, and I said I didnt know, as that wasnt discussed. He then left and brought me the check with a 20% discount. I dont think he ever found the manager, and I dont believe it was enough based on having missed much of the movie tracking down our waters, but we just decided to pay and leave. There is so much potential with the Hippodrome, but it is poorly executed. Such a shame. We have had a couple negative experiences here since I wrote my positive review, so I felt the need to give this update. My previous review is below:PREVIOUS REVIEW:My family LOVES dinner and a movie. And we love the Hippodrome. The new theaters have great seating, and you can choose a recliner or table (the tables have souped-up office chairs). They are missing a star for the following reasons:1. Portion sizes dont match the prices.2. $4.50 for a soft drink? No wonder they leave the price off the menu. It was an unpleasant surprise when I took my kids and spent $18 just to get 4 glasses of soda. Now that I think of it, theyre lucky Im not making this 3 stars just for that.Bottom line, we love this place and will return. Last time we went, we decided to eat after the movie due to the above reasons. If they want to make more money, they should fix those issues. If you have to charge $4.50 for a soft drink just to make money, youre doing something else wrong. Maybe get some popcorn smell going in the lobby or something. Thats one thing thats missing. Youll get the margins youre trying to achieve with the soda, but people are much more willing to pay more for popcorn than a coke, because they cant just go to the next gas station and get the same thing for a quarter the price. ;)

One of the best movie theaters Ive been in for a while! The reclining seats are a must have and the in theater dining was incredible. The staff was so nice and not disruptive of the movie. This is definitely now our favorite theater in Waco!

Absolutely love this place. Its super nice inside as well as a very big theater with a stage. You can even eat while the movie or concert is playing and it has has a very fancy restaurant as well. Plus a tiny museum about the history of Waco and about the history of the Hippodrome. I would definitely recommend this place to people who are visiting Waco or even live in Waco.

Every time I come here I end up being dissappointed with service. I think they took more on then what they could. We always having to wait for long periods of time, and the food isnt as great as it once was. I used to tell people who come to Waco on their first visit to go to the Hippodrome, but now I dont. I now only come here for the experience and to support the lovely building.

We took our son and some of his friends over Thanksgiving break to see a movie. It was a GREAT experience. The theater was packed but the staff handled it all with grace. The food came out quickly, and it was outstanding. We are lucky to have the Hippodrome in Waco.

So I would highly recommend this theater if you have a family or just need a night out with your honey! You won’t be able to find such upscale and comfortable seats in a movie theater and the food is excellent and will leave you feeling like royalty!!

We arrived a few minutes early for the movie so we could find our seats and order food before the movie started, thinking there may be previews for other movies and whatnot. The movie had already started about 5 minutes early. So we were scrambling to find our seats in the dark and trying to order food through the beginning of the movie. The seat was like a work chair that pulled up to a desk with minimal leg room, so it wasn’t the most relaxing. I think the recliner seats would be the way to go. The staff members were very helpful and kind. Overall, it was an interesting experience.
