Such a great zoo! You see some very unique animals that you don’t often see in zoos, like tapirs, giant anteaters, and polar bears. They’re doing a good job to maintain the health and wellbeing of the animals for sure! You can easily spend a whole day here - it’s also got many picnic and rest areas! It’s also a great place for the family - there’s even a play area here. I would recommend it!

Its absolutely one of the best Zoos in the world. You can see quiet a wide range of animals and birds here. Its well organized and worth visiting it. Even though I have been several times here, I still enjoy going there and would love to go again and again. Highly recommended also for childrens too.

This is one of the loveliest zoos I have ever been too. It’s a little pricey at €20. I visited at new year- it was very cold and covered in snow. But it was a lot less crowded too!The zoo is spread out over a vast area. It is beautifully planned. Multiple animals from all across the world.I was surprised to see sloths and koalas up close- as having been to Costa Rica and Australia - this zoo made it super easy to stare at them in close range.The zoo is a fun place- for all age groups. It would take a whole day to see everything if you end up watching all the animal meal time feeding sessions.Well worth a visit! just to seen penguins! I was so happy to see my first penguins :) thank you Vienna zoo!

It is an unforgettable place. On the way to this great zoo you will be amazed by the surroundings. The zoo is just one part of the bigger picture. The royal palace and the huge gardens give one an other worldly experience which is very unique and hard to find elsewhere. I really wish to visit it again.

The oldest Zoo in the world finds itself in Vienna. Including even Chinese Pandas. Very beautiful and nice to visit in any season. Especially with kids you can easily spend a whole day or afternoon there.

Whats cool about this place is that its a zoo that is surrounded by a park and other sights, so you really cant go wrong here. For regular visitors theres a yearlong-pass for a very low price, 52 euros at the time of writing. The enclosures are less than impressive when it comes to size and quality in my opinion. All in all: zoo.

Nothing beats the annual price of 49 euro! Such a great price if you plan to go more often and you can really visit this zoo a lot of times.Love the penguin area with an inside and outside area, the aquarium house(see pictures) and the zebras.Great area for elephants too.What makes this zoo special is that there is a section with “typical” mountain animals of Austria which is nice if you are like more a city than a mountain girl yet want to see some local animals

I absolutely loved going to Schönbrunn Zoo it is the best zoo I have ever been to. Schönbrunn Zoo is the oldest zoo in the world and has been named Europe’s best zoo five times in a row. There are 700 different species from all over the world, some of which are critically endangered. My favourite animal we saw in the zoo were the Giant Pandas and the Polar Bear. It was simply incredible to see these animals up close and could be the only chance I will have to ever experience this so I am glad I did. All of the animals had huge enclosures and seemed very well looked after. None of the animals seemed to be stressed or unhappy. The weather was a bit overcast when we went to the zoo but it was nice because it wasnt too hot and also wasnt very busy so we could walk around the zoo with ease and had really good views of all of the animals. You can observe many of the animals at feeding time and find out facts about the animals from the keepers. They have numerous restaurants and kiosks where you can buy food and drinks and there is a shop where you can buy souvenirs to take home. I would definitely go back to the zoo if I was ever in Vienna again. We also had a walk around the gardens which was lovely and the views were stunning. I would 100% recommend.

Quite large and one of the oldest Zoos in Europe. We spent more than 3 hours there and still couldnt visit everything:) Giraffes, elefants, penguins and jellyfish were so funny to watch. Worth to come and spend one whole day!

The Zoo was very nice but I would recommend going in summer time. Our favorite part were the little monkeys in the monkey house and the jellyfish they have in the aquarium. It’s s really big so be prepared to walk a lot or you can take a “train” around some parts.

Wonderful place! The animals are well treated. Oldest zoo still in operation in Europe. Many ne babies every year! Such a treat for the kids. Not too big, well worth the entry.

This place is amazing, beautiful and fun. Especially the panda was a treat which is rare. The whole place is build with great architecture. You can see the bears from below and on top and other animals too because of the little mountain situated next to the palace. Lots of animals you can see from near distance. The tiger walks up right in front of viewers. The have a bee nest you can see through the glass. Go to the little bridge that goes through the wood high up in the air and has great a great view of the city. Transport is easy and accessible. Very recommended

I really enjoyed walking this zoo. Fabulous history here. Lovely layout, easy to walk around and seeing the old and new enclosures. Went the end of winter, still a chill in the air. Would look stunning in summer. The animals looked great. Well worth a visit.

A variety of rare and exotic animals with a very though out layout of the enclosures offering a lot of points of view of the animals. Many kiosks and food places with surprisingly good food. The feeding shows were quite entertaining.

Excellent place for kids and grown-ups. The town constantly invests into new cages for the animals and has continuously enlarged them were possible. Visitors can thus enjoy the animals in something that resembles their Natural habitat.

I thought well spend no more than 2 hrs, first because it was a rainy winter and windy day thinking that the animals will be in their cages not being able to see them but... surprise! We spent about 5 hrs only in the zoo....and we could be there more time...it was great!!! 20€ worth it. I believe that in the summer can be a whole day of fun going around to see the gardens. The usual and general problem in Austria is the translation of signs and explanations for tourists, I used the Google translate. Disabled friendly, reachable toilets, tidy clean, feeding and shows with explanation - look for the timetables. Handicap friendly. Discounts. Take a map with you so you wont miss anything....great to all the family. If you dont want to spend much money, take snacks and drinking water or a bottle to fill. Enjoy!

When youre planning visiting zoo while in Vienna reserve your day, or at least long afternoon. We spend there about four hours and weve seen about half of it. During vacation its quite crowded. If you come by car you should be there about 9:00 am, finding parking place is difficult later.Zoo is big, there is a lot of greenery, placed to sit, some bars and restaurants (but theyre quite expensive). Animals are mostly in big areas.Its good place to visit with kids. I recommend it

Awesome zoo! Its compact, so you can go through it in an afternoon but it still has so much to see. Wouldnt recommend going to the tiger feeding, you probably wont see anything and its honestly a bit dull. Look at the leopards instead!

You can easily lose a day while visiting the zoo. The zoo is huge and it offers a lot of choices for all family members. Its best to get the pass plus tickets for Schönbrunn which include Zoo tickets as well. There are places to eat or drink inside so you can spend the entire day there, basically.

Most beautiful zoo so far. Animals have a plenty of room, some of them are very friendly. Its very safe for kids and seems like perfect place to spend whole day while exploring plethora of zoo world.

This is an amazing zoo. You can literally spend all your day here. But be careful about car parking, it might be full, but in walking distances, you can find free parking spaces on nearby roads. you can also try public transportation. The zoo is inside a large park. there are many things that kids would enjoy. thus. it is a family friendly place. there are restaurants as well with affordable fast food. the diversity of animals are amazing. i particularly liked monkeys, penguins and see animals. my kid enjoyed the performance of see animals most. the exhibitions of animals are prepared in a good manner. there is an also internal small bus train ride. there is a special section where you walk over some kind of stairs and walk up to a point with magnificent view of Vienna. while the zoo was crowded when we visited, it is large enough to feel fresh and comfortable. it feels you like in nature.

This is a great zoo! Visited with our 5-year old and its not too big for him to handle, yet there are all the animals you expect to see. Its nicely kept and the animals look pretty happy. The location is great and you can easily add a stroll through the park which has other attractions available. Its definitely a must see when in Vienna (and not just for kids :-)).

Nice well-cared zoo. Very green and pleasant to walk. There were a lot of people there not wearing face masks though indoors, which makes it a bit unsafe.

Amazing place! They try to combine the animals natural habitat with the security for the people, views - even if you dont always get to see the animals, they have their place nad time to rest. Nicely combined with a small forest! Nice walks, and peeks of views towards Vienna. Strongly recommand it!

It was winter, a lot of things did not work, the zoo shoild say that.Beside that it is a large zoo, and very nice.In the middle of the park near the castle.Most of the animals was inside cages so we did not see them but still love it.Thank you

Incredible zoo! Very beautiful and with so many different species!The zoo is located on the grounds of the Schönbrunn palace. I highly recommend you do the palace in the morning, followed by a lunch in the restaurant by the palace and follow up with the zoo your in the afternoon.Plan a good half day for this zoo, especially if you plan on the desert house and tropical house. These are located just outside the exit of the zoo. Be aware that they close at 5pm during winter and 6pm in summer with the last admittance being 30 min before closing!

One of the best zoo that I have ever been. The animals live in a specious home. The entrance fee is not expensive. Great variety of animals to see inside the zoo.

Completely exceeded expectations. Great experience with the kids. The exhibits were interactive and there were plentiful playgrounds to take breaks from walking around.Very clean and organized with a number of cafes. It gets a bit crowded on the weekend so be prepared for longer waits to eat in any of the cafes on Saturday or Sunday.The new baby elephant was also a fun treat to see.

Came with my wife and 2 year old daughter and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The zoo was huge and more like a garden park. Cant say I was a big fan of the food and we couldnt spot the tiger amidst the dense bushes, else it was memorable experience.

Huge Zoo with bunch of animals. Rainforest part of zoo is very interesting with tropical 80% humidity and ~30°C temperature and a lots of birds that freely fly around. And of course, we cant forget about two Pandas

Jungles in the city:One of the most beautiful and exiting places in Vienna and Europe with Jungles, Bat caves and Pink Flamingos!Get ready yourself, parents, friends to visit one of the biggest and one of the best Zoo in Europe! “The Best Zoo” is not just a name but an actual fact!This place is got the biggest and the most rare species which you will not find anywhere else!The most I remembered from this place is a huge building with a proper jungle ecosystem inside with Giant Golden-Crowned Flying Fox(Giant Bats) sitting just right above your head, so look around to see them ;) Also there is a cave fully with bats flying all around you, so please don’t get paranoid or scared they will not sit on you ;). Except of the bats you will see all around you lots of tropical birds and parrots :)!Outside of the jungles you will see White Bears, Hippos, Rhinos and many more!So guys if you are planing your visit to Vienna don’t miss out this place as it’s the most wonderful experience in Vienna!This place should be A Must place in your visit List!

A huge zoo with a lot to explore. We were here in August 2020 therefore due to COVID some animal houses were closed, like for example we coldnt see the polar bears or visit the rat house. Still, our planned 4 hours to see everything werent enough, so make sure to plan in enough time. Theres a good guiding system with arrows on the floor, making sure you dont miss a thing, even if you dont have a map with you. The highlight were of course the cute panda bears. We had coffee for an OK price (Cappucino 4€) at a restaurant there. All in all a must see during your stay in Vienna!

1-This zoo was one of best zoo I ever visited.2-The animals are not in cage and stuck, they are free in their environment.3-Always there is a good view to see the animals and take picture of them.4-The whole area of the zoo is very well served, it contains a lot of restaurants and cafes.5- They have now 3 cute panda.Must see them.6- There is a lot of varieties for animals to see.

A nice place to have a walk and chill. Good family destination also, though Id suggest a visit in the summer and not in February as we did.

H U G E. You cant really say how big this zoo is in the start but you really need a whole day to enjoy it. Animals live in very good condition here. Some shelters are small for the animals but thats always a limitation of a theme park. If you lie zoos or dont have issue we animals living in captivity is definitely the best sight seeing of Vienna.

It was a great experience! The zoo and the animals are well cared for. It takes a few hours to visit the entire place and the entry fee is 20 euros. We went there on a Sunday and the place wasnt crowded. We would definitely go back

The zoo was good, but I don’t understand all the hype behind it. It is twice as expensive as other zoo’s around Europe, but the other ones were just as good or even better than this one. One plus to this zoo is that they have lots of feeding times (about ever half hour from 10 until about 4). They also have a two week old baby elephant, which is not a common occurrence at other zoos.

They call it the Europe’s oldest zoo. I call it the best zoo that I’ve ever been to. The cleanliness of the zoo and the wellbeing of animals hosted here impressed me. I wish every other zoo in the world could be kept at the same level.My recommendation for the first time visitors is obtaining a map at the entrance, taking note of the feeding times of the animals and planning their tour accordingly because witnessing the feeding of animals doubles the zoo experience.

This is a very nice zoo. Very large with a very wide diversity of animals. It took us about 6 hours to visit everything, but it worth the every minute. For one ticket (adult) we paid 20 euro. I guess this place is better during summer time, when all animals are outside.Make sure to see the penguins they are lovely

Park and Zoo is beautiful even in winter period. Nice place to spend a weekend afternoon with family or relax during tourist visit to Vienna. There are various animals to see and learn about them if you like that. But also you can enjoy big gardens and even enclosed tropical botanical gardens. Food is also quite good at local café.

Very nice and the zoo is rather huge although it does not look so on the map. I would recommend going during warmer months though. Go early if you want to avoid the crowds. The tickets can be bought online as well if you do not wish to wait in line.

Great zoo with much space for the animals- but the king penguins got a way to tiny home:( they didnt look happy

I didn’t like the zoo for some reasons1. the animals where so depressed and it seemed they were suffering from psychological problems!2. it was difficult to arrange a way to see the whole zoo in a short time.But if you want to visit the Schönbrunn castle, park and the zoo, you probably need at least whole of a day or even 2 days.

Was a brilliant experience and I will deffinatly be going back.Managed to spend the whole day there touring round all the animals and parts of the old zoo. History behind it is fascinating.Plenty of places to eat and drink. Plenty for both adults and children.

Amazing place where you can spend your whole one day with your kids. You can find lots of good variety of animals and species. The most attractive animals of the zoo are polar bear, penguins and panda. If you are lucky enough you can see the polar bear which are mostly inside in their specially created environment. Animals are taken good care. Special buggies are available for kids inside the zoo in which they can sit and visit the zoo. Enough food stalls are there inside the zoo in case you feel hungry. So I highly recommend this place for the tourist who visits Vienna.

Difficult to move around. Very few restaurants. Animals dont have enough space and the hole experience was a bit depressing. I prefer Hamburg or München och Stockholm any day.

We can say its really a must visit place. Ticket was Eur 20/- PP but its really worth it. Very well kept. It covered very big area with different species of animals, fishes.

Zoo was part of Vienn pass therefore we didnt need to pay to go in. There are lockers were you N keep your stuff. We have visited in December, super cold so dress really well. Some services were not working due to the season.

The zoo is a bit small, so the animals are sometimes a bit too crowded. All signs are in German and English, which was great.

This was a great zoo, with such a great and amazing variety of animals from around the world. We spent so much longer there than we meant to as we lost track of time as there was so much to see and do. Would strongly recommend to any animal lovers out there. Pretty cheap price too for what there is to see.

This zoo by far has been one of the best I have attended. The animals seem to be extremely happy and active; even during the cold months came as a surprise to me. Note that if you’re an English speaker and you attend the feedings they speak in German only; at least during the time I went. Regardless, you should still Attend as many feedings as possible because it adds to the experience for sure. They take place all day long. Plan accordingly.

I enjoyed this zoo. One thing that I do not understand though is, why do they do work during the day so that some of the animals are hidden away inside? There were four different main animals that were not able to be seen for this reason. It would be much better if they could do work at night so we could see everything that is able to be seen.

Im normally against the whole concept of Zoos but this one is a bit different. First, they focus on conservation and have various programs and projects. Second, the cages are really roomy and the animals looks like they are really taken care of. Third, the Verity is really something else. Had a really good time with the kids. Recommended.

A very nice zoo, also featuring a tropical room and many other rooms exhibition rooms / inhabitants for the animals. Be aware that depending on the time some animals may not be visible in their inhabitant space therefore, it is recommended to visit each place during the feeding time (a schedule is available at the entrance).

Great place but due to cold weather most of the animals were asleep or put away to warm. There are feeding times for other animals where you were able to see them only during those hours. Bit sad because i didnt saw the polar bear or some of the small mammals.

One of the best zoos in terms of the layout and location. Its really so beautiful that a walk around in itself is worth it. Supposedly it was voted Europes best zoo, though I think that is debatable as there are zoos with a wider collection, but this definitely ranks among the top.

A five star zoo. Park at a Parking Lot or Garage nearby and then walk the rest of way for 5 or 10 minutes. Best bet is to take Public Transportation (bus or U line) - it is super easy.The Zoo itself is well put together, with play parks for the kids and bars for the Adults. It is not over crowded even through the summer months, making it a great place to spend the day.They have live feedings of some animals which causes a gathering of people who want to see [e.g. feeding of the Cheetahs].

A great zoo, must see and enjoy a full fay inside it

The greatest zoo one can ever experience. If you have kids, it is a must do while visiting Vienna. We covered a distance of 8 miles in 5 hours, so that is how you can influence both your health and family relations.

Very nice place to visit, most of the animals are easy to pick and see. Park is neat and well organized. The coffee shop has good choices too. You can see Vienna from the top hill of the park. I liked my visit and I would highly recommend visiting the place, just will cost you 20 Euros.

Zoo is not so big, It is a big plus if you go there with little child. Animalas are really well cared. Infrastructure is also in very good shape. Time to spent there is aproximately 4-6 hours. I fully recommend.

The oldest zoo in the works with some of the most modern facilities for animals nowadays. Its a wonderful place full of wonder and great to spend a day with the children. The playground is very special and for 2 euros kids can ride a horse or pony.I recommend tracking up to the Tiroler Hof for lunch. I come here every time I come to Vienna, whatever the time of year.

I had great experience visiting Vienna’s zoo, there is a wide variety of animalls to see there, its quite big, unfortunately I didnt see the polar bear as he was hiding somewhere there. I visited the Zoo in December but I would love to visit it again sometimes in Summer.

Its apparently the oldest zoo in Europe, so thats interesting. The layout is a bit strange, so its easy to miss things if youre not careful. Luckily we had to double back and were able to see the lions and tiger, which were hidden initially. Nice place for children!

You know I am from Prague and we have the best zoo in the world. At least some famous magazine said it. But this was actually even better. Considering how many unique animals you can see that you dont get to see anywhere else, how close you can get! Oh my god. It was really amazing and animals felt really happy. Their enclosures felt real.There was only one big downside. HOW ARE PEOPLE NOT BANNED FROM SMOKING INSIDE THE ZOO? I dont get it, even the staff were smoking around the corners here and there. That seriously disgusting. Please consider it for the future. This was a disappointment.

Very nice, unique place... Attractive ZOO just round the corner of Schönbrunn Palace. We had a fascinating day, lovely meal (Vienna Schnitzel- what else??!!) and a great walk in the gardens surrounding Schönbrunn. And if you dont feel like walking you can just sit on the lawns of the hill and enjoy the beautiful view of Vienna and the uniqueness of the place.
