This was such a fun experience! We came for my daughters birthday and she had so much fun! Everyone working there was wearing a mask for the most part and we had a wonderful experience.
We visited Roer’s Zoo today and it was so much fun for the kids and even us adults. We did the drive through and walk up safari, you will need to book your tickets in advance. Driving through the Safari was fun it was about a 10-15 min ride with your car and you encounter llamas, ducks, ostrich’s and more coming to the car to get fed. The we went to the walk in part where we fed baby’s goats, there was a tall giraffe, and even a Camel ride. The kids loved it and had so much fun. We also went into a bird cage where a peacock had just had 5 babies. They flew on us and ate from the bird sticks we purchased for them. Such a cool experience, definitely recommend!
I went with my 2 year old and 3 year old and they had a great time! We did the self drive safari and walking tour. They enjoyed feeding the animals and walking around. I would recommend.
Fun time for all ages. Had a blast! The staff are friendly. We did the drive thru before the walk-around tour. The animals come to the car and you can feed them carrots.we went through twice. During the walking tour, you can feed the goats milk through a bottle. We fed the giraffe too! Hes very calm. The place is clean and everyone adhered to the social distancing guidelines and wore masks. One member of my group rode the camel. He had a great time. Lots of photo opportunities. Youll have a great time.
It was great. The animals are friendly, the ducks play no games when the drivers come through. They are ready to get fed! The llamas will continue to walk past you and act like you dont exist if your window is rolled up and you dont have any food. They know whats up and keep it pushing to another car. The whole experience, drive through and walk through was amazing. We went around each about 3 times. Loved it
First time visitor. Visited today with the family. What a blast we had! Tons of animals who loved the lettuce and carrots. Bring cash because the cups of food go fast. We also completed the self paced tour and got to bottle feed a goat. The giraffe, talking cockatoo and little gift shop were nice as well. Great way to practice social distancing while enjoying an activity. We will be back soon.
Its very expensive and very small. I feel bad for the animals, and I dont usually feel that way about zoos. This place has very tiny enclosures compared to others zoos in the area. The drive through portion is pretty much only llamas. The cups of carrots are more than $6 a cup. When you see the size of the cup youll understand the complaint. The staff for the lemur encounter seemed annoyed that we were there. The staff at the front desk didnt have a clue where we should go for the lemur encounter, and the lady on the phone with her grandmother wouldnt get off the phone to work. The lemur encounter started late, but the guy that did it was really the only good thing about this trip. This place is huge waste of your money.
Safari ride was so funny and cute, actually walk around safari was pretty boring. It shall be better if you can hold the animals and pet them without such an outrages price of $40. Recommend the Safari Ride over the walking way better. Dont spend extra money on the walk because everything is separate
This is by far a waste of money. I understand due to the pandemic you may have a financial change but this Zoo was not properly managed.Animals look neglected. Animal environment were sad and dirty. From the beginning to end it was a horrible experience. Took no pictures to sad too post.
We have 2 children and each child had 2 cups of carrots and 2 cups of lettuce which ended up being just enough. We also got 2 baby bottles to feed baby goats which was very sweet. We did ride through the loop and the animals were well trained and come to the car to be fed. Save some food for the inner walk through. Kids fed a giraffe too. Given the times we are in, this is a great experience since it takes place outdoors and in your own personal car. You just walk through a small gift shop to get to the walking part. I booked online and bought food online and our name was on the list and we were checked in easily. Staff were very friendly and guided us well in terms of where to drive and where things were. Baby bottle feeding is on the inner walk through section and you pick bottles up in the gift shop. You can also buy more food at the zoo if you run out. Great experience for a birthday or family event. Price for a family of 4 is no more than a movie with snacks.
Fun for kids and adults. Awesome drive thru petting zoo with lots of different animals. The llamas are very friendly!
This place is WONDERFUL!!!! The staff is amazing, the ride is so much fun! And the zoo is so well kept!!! I recommend this place to everyone with kids!!! Safe and fun!
Loved it!! Great experience for me and the little one whos about to turn 3. We rode the camel which is something I wouldve have never done with any adult. Feeding the animals and all was an awesome experience. Will always go back until shes tired of it...
Far fewer animals. Still a great experience. Self guided tour is nice. Able to feed and observe animals from vehicle. Free pumpkins were a welcome treat.
A fun and interactive farm to visit! You get to be up close with all the animals which is great! I am giving 4 stars because I find it a bit overpriced, but we were only able to book the walking only portion which isnt cheaper, plus you pay food separately so would be nice if maybe only small feed was included in walking only ticket or something. Book early and you get to do the drive thru and walking portions which I think would be well worth the price!
The staff were really nice. The animals loomed so happy and its a really pleasant place to visit. The zoo is very small. I would expect a bigger space for 20 dollars per person. The parking is spacious. I wouldnt mind going again
I would give 5 stars for the chicken tenders and board walk fries alone The Staff is AWESOME everyone is friendly, the exhibits are truly engaging the animals are SO COOL Lets just say they arent shy about taking food from strangers. The birds in the Aviary fly right up to you-- This is perfect for quality time with the kids in your family. A great photo walk!!
My mom and I enjoy this zoo. We’ve been a few times and we loved the up close experience with the kangaroos as well as the safari bus in which you can see many animals. The tour guides were fun and full of energy. The zoo takes adequate care of the animals we saw, enough space, food and water. The experience is not too pricey. The stick feeding for the birds was fun. I had multiple birds on my stick and one that even landed on my shoulder! At the petting zoo there were many goats and most were friendly and approached. Great educational and up close experiences thank you
Covid is everywhere but this place is still bringing joy to kids. They do their best to accommodate. Its a tad pricey if your kids love to make sure all the animals tummies are full! Priceless the wholesome experience my family shares!!
So much fun! Tuesday morning at 9:30am was not crowded at all. Started to get a bit more as 11 rolled around, when the safari ride begins, but the bus was comfortable and overall the experience was a BLAST. Feeding the animals (especially the giraffe - so cool) was totally awesome. It was pretty pricey once everything is factored in ($5 per small cup of food, $8 per person for camel rides), but I thought it was worth it to do it all once.
In my opinion, this is fine for a young child but not older kids or adults. The drive through Safari had a lot of donkeys, some sleepy buffalo, a Texas longhorn in the distant barn, emu, a deer, one very hot and sleepy reindeer, and two zebra behind a fence. Inside the park were baby goats, a few big cats, lemurs, warthogs, reptile, snakes, turtles, ducks, geese, and a giraffe. those are the animals that I saw but I suspect there may have been more. We left very quickly because of the masses of people without masks on, and not social distancing. This is not the fault of the park owners, but was a major concern for two immune compromised people in our group.
Ive been going to this park (when it was Reston Petting Zoo) since I was a child. It is still great fun. My four year old son talks about visiting the zoo and Waffles often. Im very glad we got the season pass!
Me and my enjoyed the safari zoo. Its small though. You go around on this dirt road twice. Their A LOT of ducks or Geese! Our vehicle was not damaged. They had another part where you could walk around and see other animals. This not a huge place! They had a two camel that you could ride. One giraffe to feed. Tons of different goats. We spent a good 2hrs here...something to do.
Love this place. It was my first time ever going and the kids really enjoyed themselves. Animals are friendly. Staff is nice unfortunately for a supervisor I overheard being rude to staff member. Its great something the whole family can enjoy. There were plenty of porta potties there but only 2 restrooms. Limited parking had to park in the muddy grass area. Has a gift shop I recommend bringing cash.
Quality mini zoo to spend time with kids. Bird feeding, Giraffe, other animal feeding are highlights. I feel $5 for feeding cups (lettuce, carrot) is bit pricey. Entry fee $17 adults/$12 kids is worth a visit. We loved it and would like to visit again
If you buy walk through you can’t go to the drive through. And they don’t have Sightseeing vehicles to take people to drive through side look around. Walk through side and drive through side animals is different. Drive through side mostly big animals, walk through side small animals, like goats, and goats, and goats:). But you can feed them. If you buy drive through, you can go walk through side to free!! But they don’t tell you this before buy tickets . If you go walk through then go drive through side,No! You have to buy Ticket again.
I would call this a farm not a zoo. Driving through the field is fun with the cows and livestock coming up to the car. Didnt do the walking side due to rain.
I went here with my mom and we both absolutely loved this place and we enjoyed it a lot. We were not able to make an appointment but they were nice enough to squeeze us in. Great experience. It was so much fun!!
Nice little zoo... its fun for little kids for sure. You can feed the goats and a giraffe and several other animals. The bird aviary is really nice too!
Fun, but hot. Which isnt by any fault of theirs. Great time with our 2 year old and Grandma.
This was a cool spot!! It was Hot!! Really the only complaint I have (completely unrelated to Roer’s). The park conveniently had Sanitizer stations all throughout the walk-around portion. We were able to feed baby goats, ride a camel, and much more!! A+++
Roers zoo is basically a perfect way to spend some time with kids during the Covid crisis. The drive through safari is a good way to see the animals and stay distanced from others. I would suggest buying the yearly pass and just making it a place to go when you cant get out.
Great experience, I went with my families and we really enjoyed, good place to visit. And highly recommend.
Nice friendly zoo with a nice selection of animals. It is a good size for small children as they will not get overwhelmed.
Im not a big zoo person, however it is nice for a family outing with small children. The drive thru went quicker than expected with a small variety of animals. Not a big place but staff were friendly, animals were interesting. Carrots, lettuce n milk bottles avail for animal feeding, Ice cream n snacks for human feeding avail for purchase.
Super fun time for all ages. Great outdoor activity and staying safe
My daughter and I had a lot of fun here. Unfortunately i did not know that you had to make reservation before hand for the drive through zoo. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the fact that nowhere on their website did it state that you have to have a reservation or you would not be able to do the drive through. I drove an hour and half and was only able to do the walk through zoo part for the same price S both combined. My daughter was very disappointed about not being able to see all the animals.
The park was super crowded and literally a third of the visitors we saw were completely maskless and not social distancing. The employees dont wear the masks correctly and dont enforce the visitors to. They dont seem to care about the pandemic at all.. we had to leave, we could not enjoy ourselves and feel safe.
My kids love this zoo..its not super large and you can go through it in about 2-3 hours. The highlight animals are the giraffe, monkeys cheetah, bobcat, buffalo, emu, and camels. My kids loved feeding the parakeets and giraffe and the bus ride where you get to feed animals is great. The only negative is they dont have a food stand and so you have to bring your own food or snacks if you want food. They should really look into getting a couple of food trucks to park there during lunch and they would make so much money!
Drive through gives kids real experience of watching from very near, feeding them while in comfort of seating with loved ones in car .Next birds, peacock, and Turtle, are fun to watch .Normally 3hours is enough, with few minutes rest while slowly walking around each point .Worth taking kids to have fun with animals.
Get the year pass! Buy lettuce for Waffles. You can pay for camel rides at the camel. Dont miss lemur island or the kangaroos... Bam.... Youre good to go!
It was an amazing experience. I recommend everyone to go with or without their kids. They truly care about the animals and are very knowledgeable.Go see Wil Canton and do the ride!!
My family loved this place. Kids enjoyed seeing all the animals and be able to feed some of them. We will definitely go back. Even though the place closes at 5pm the Camel ride stops at 4 sadly.
Drive through and feed the llamas and cows!! So fun
My daughter absolutely loved thisI spent a few years in N. VA and never actually visited here so it was nice to take my 3 year old. Of course she was a bit intimidated by the larger animals but enjoyed bottle feeding the baby goats and and feeding the larger goats lettuce and carrots. The prices and location was great. Easy to navigate. Im not sure if maps are provided to those that know exactly what they wish to see. The fact that your able to bring your own food and drinks is great. Saves a ton of money
Great place to take the kids. my niece loves this place. she did shed some tears though, because they didnt have bunnies lol
Great place to spend a couple of hours with kids. For an additional fee you can buy some food to feed the animals, including a giraffe.
Very exciting day. Totally worth the visit. We got to pet so many different animals. We suggest buying the vegetables to feed the animals as they really look forward to it. The bus ride tour is worth the wait, just wish the bus ran more often.
This is excellent! A hidden gem in the suburbs. Be sure to do both the driving part and the walking part.
I love this place. Friendly staff. This was my first time going with my daughter and she loved it. You are able to feed the animals from your car then go inside and walk around and feed the animals. There is a camel ride that is pretty fun.
The zoo is fun and well maintained. But they should not force you to go indoors, through the gift shop, to exit, during a pandemic, having the fence to exit right on the side. Also, please avoid the food truck outside, even if you are starving...
Loved their safari tour in the bus. Its a small charming place with cute animals. My daughter really enjoyed it.
We love our planned annual visits up to your farm! This year we were excited to see the pivot you made to the Zoofari with the self guided own car tour. I wish the same standard of safe social distancing and adherence to CDC guidelines continue for the remainder of our trip, but sadly it did not. We witness several staffers not wearing masks, several patrons not wearing masks over the 2 year age limit per the guidance of the CDC. There were no temperature checks upon arrival and sparse areas to hand sanitizers. And I have it on good authority that you do not require or request your staffers to have a COVID test before stating to work at your location nor is there daily temperature checks of your staffers. The camel ride operations were not wearing masks and did not sanitize the high touch areas of the holder bars on to of the camel after every ride. I hope you make some much needed changes and we are able to visit next year as I’m sure we will all still be in this because of places like yours taking a very lax approach.
What a great socially-distanced outing! We had a ton of fun driving the loop and seeing all the animals.
What a WONDERFUL experience!!! I went with my boyfriend and we both had a blast! From feeding goats to feeding llamas, there was never a dull moment. Will definitely return!
Highly recommend to your friends and family. Maybe different kinds of animals that you don’t expect. It isn’t too large or too small so you can see everything in one day. You can tell the animals are treated well and cared for by a professional staff. Would go again!
The zoo did an amazing job adapting during social distancing and still providing fun for the entire family. They created this self drive tour where you can feed the animals and pet them. You can book your day and time online and buy some feeding cups, if you ran out you can buy more at the entrance or for the second lap you can buy them when turning back around. The animals are so cute and tame, they provide instructions when you get there as to how to feed them. Some of them you can pet and they are very tame, these are not squiderish animals for sure. We saw several kids almost hanging out the windows to feed them and they would do anything except for the birds (geese, emu those they specify how to feed them because they peck). The donkeys and the llamas take the prize on cuteness overload. They wont bite you, they are very dainty when fed and the donkeys just open the mouth so you just put the food there. Great for little ones and parents also as we enjoyed it too lol. Just be patient cause cars with little one spend longer than intented, so the line doesnt move fast, its just a loop anyways.
It was a great family oriented environment and a lot of fun for the little ones.
This is a great, fun little zoo for the kids and adults. There is a petting zoo where you can feed some animals. There are paths for a nice outside walk. The Safari bus ride was a great chance for the kids to see some animals and feed them carrots and lettuce. There kids really love Bob-the-cat and the reptile house. You can get up close to the giraffe.
I LOVED that I could take my grandaughter on a mini safari. Where she could feed the animals. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend Roers Zoofari.
Absolutely wonderful zoo. Youre able to get up close with the animals. We have been visiting the DC area this week and this is possibly one of my absolute favorite things the entire trip. If I am ever back up this way I will definitely be coming back to the zoo! All staff were friendly and all the animals seemed happy and healthy. I highly recommend it. The 11 hour drive from KY to here was extremely worth it if for nothing but to feed and have selfies with Mr. Waffles!
Great adventures, even during COVID. Hood for a fun day date, with kids or solo.
Cant wait to go back. Great place for family, especially the kids. My son and niece had a ball. Worth the drive. The food for the animals can be pretty pricey. The animals come right up to the tour bus, you can feed and pat them. Best zoo I ever been too.
This has been an excellent experience for my partner and I. I recommend doing both the driving tour and the walking tour. Hidden gem in the local area.
We couldnt have had more fun when we visited! We arrived late in the afternoon and we were still able to feed almost all the animals in the park. There were a lot of visitors that day but the animals seemed to want to stop and visit every sing car in line. We cant recommend this place highly enough. Just an amazing experience! We cant wait to come back when the rest of the place is open! Thanks for the great time!
Nice! Putting with the kids only thing was not many animals came up to the car
The ride was fun, super cute. My what really caught my attention was how small the location is for the animals on the walk through side. They have no space to run or really do anything. Exhibits for their cheetahs, giraffe, python, bird space, & kangaroo is super tiny!!! Plus it seemed like something was wrong with the giraffe because his tongue was just dangling out. Seemed like a small rinky dink zoo that was ran by joe exotic.
A very good place to bring young children. Lots of different types of animals, who are used to being fed, not so much petted. There is also a very short and bumpy bus ride that takes you around the bigger animals. There are also several rare animals here. The bird atrium was probably the highlight. Plan to spend about 1.5-2 hours. The price is a bit steep, but it probably costs a lot to feed and take care of all the animals, and when we went, there were very few people there, which made it nice with no crowds or lines and gave us the ability to see all the animals at the fence immediately when we went to each area.
Cute place, did well with handling Covid precautions. Animals were fun, my 1 year old loved the drive thru safari!
Nice zoo, good selection of animals and plenty of opportunities to feed them. The only reason I didnt do five stars is that it seemed every possible thing that could be charged for was charged for. I get that its a private zoo and needs to make money, but for the cost of admission, somethings should probably be included, or at least a sample; e.g. a cup of carrots or lettuce for feeding. Overall, a good zoo, though.
Great Petting Zoo! A lot of different animals. Very friendly staff. One staff member named An was super friendly. He answered all our questions & was very knowledgeable. Also, the guy who does the camel rides is super nice & very friendly. He too has a lot of knowledge about the park & the animals. This is a wonderful place to bring your whole family & we will definitely be back!
The walking zoo section was really cool. The driving section was a little short and limitedanimals, but still a fun experience.
Small local zoo, an exciting place for most kids. The thicket price is reasonable, but if you want to feed the animals you have to pay more. They also have place for birthday parties and similar occasions.Best time to get there is middle of May to early June, or middle of September to October.Since the weather is not too hot, and not that much stinky there, and in cold time of the years some animals are not available.
This place is a lot of fun! Who doesnt love feeding animals? The price was a little high but it didnt ruin it for me. Dont forget to do the bus tour. It isnt super long but you get to see more animals that they have and they come right up to the bus so you can feed them.
Cute!! Very small farm with smaller animals. Price $20 adults $10 children. Must book ahead for the ride. Its cute and different. Also you must pay to feed the animals $5 buckets, bottles
Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, good variety animals
A great place to take the family. Our kids got a kick out of feeding some of the animals. Feeding the baby goats was fun. My family really enjoyed feeding the fully grown Giraffe that they have. His name is Waffles. We also loved going into the Budgie ( Parakeet ) aviary. The birds will swarm you and land on you. Its pretty awesome. I had one that loved me and just stayed on me the entire time kissing my face. You can find many types of animals on the property. If you want to go on a low budget, you really can skip buying the food to feed the animals because they will come RIGHT up to you anyway so you can pet them. Except Mr. Waffles. He wants you to pay to play. If you have the extra money, support the business, buy the food and give it to a random stranger. I can not comment on the bus tour because we decided to skip it. It was 95 the grease outside and we were all wooped. Enjoy.
Im sorry about the giraffe. He is always with his tongue out. But this place is perfect to teach your kids to take care animals
Just ok parking lot is a cluster big time. Safari is very very short and basically only 3 types of animals to see... would not return and spend my money here
So much fun. Im ready to go back.
This was a nice family experience
We had a great time. My daughter was able to feed most of the animals and little bird habitat was amazing. The mud everywhere wasnt so pleasant but didnt sink
Love this place!! Did a private tour of the zoo on a day it was closed and it was amazing! Definitely worth it. Got to feed all of the animals. The curator was very friendly and knowledgeable. We did a private encounter with Priscilla the sloth and she ate apples from us. Al of the animals are well loved and well cared for. Can’t wait to go back!
So much more than we expected
I absolutely loved coming here. There are so many beautiful animals including camels, goats, kangaroos, birds, lambs, cows, and so so many more. I was able to feed them carrots, lettuce, and milk. They were extremely soft and cute. There’s even a tour bus that goes around the safari. Camel rides are offered too. It’s an amazing price too. You can bring your family, friends, dates, and children here. You’ll love it and they will as well. Five stars for sure.
My family totally loved this up close and personal adventure with animals. Its an awesome experience. Not too expensive either.
It is ana amazing zoo. A lot of fun to feed the animals. It is worth the trip. Their hours are from 9-6 and they are open. Waffles was my favorite. Can not wait to go back nd visit again.
Nice grounds. The Safari ride was fun. Great for kids.
It was a great experience, very clean and safe.Beautiful animals and a great Camel ride.
I’ve been coming to this pet farm since I was little in the 1970’s BUT today is the last time my family & me will EVER come to Roer’s Zoofari again!! I will be going to Leesburg pet farm or Nat’l Zoo instead!A dangerous thunderstorm with lightning & downpours started while my daughter & me were at Roer’s Animal Park. We were caught off guard & had no safe place to go unless we stood under trees while lightning was striking. The safest & closest place was an empty barn. My daughter & me as well as a Mom & her 2 small toddlers stood in the entry way of this vacant barn because we couldn’t quickly & safely find cover. Not one of us was more than 2 feet from the entry, we were only in far enough to stay safe from lightning & keep downpours off. A young employee who’s name I won’t mention came in barn & said we ALL had to leave immediately during the lightning & downpours. We were not allowed to safely take cover there, we had to find some place else. The mom with toddlers said she wasn’t taking her small babies in the pouring rain with lightning & the rude Roer’s employee actually called her manager who came & forced the mom & two small children out in the lightning & downpours! What is wrong with these people???!!! So please let this be a warning!
Great for social distancing, the Llamas come right up to the car to be fed. My 4 year old loved it.
Best place to hangout for the weekend and you can pet animals. Kids gonna love it. Best part is bird atrium. Really loved it. They have a bus tour and make sure you sit on the left side(driver side) for better view.
My five and three year olds had a blast. Thanks so much for being open!!
