Love this hill I started by running halfway up the hill nonstop and pushing myself to go further and further everytime I visit the hill. Also to everyone who doesnt know. To keep the hill open to everyone please wear your mask if you cant breath from pushing yourself to walking the whole way up. Its okay no shame but for everyones safety maybe just call it a day instead of taking your mask off just to keep everyone safe from covid.
I love walking here. Its beautiful. Its a great workout
We didn’t have a lot of time for hiking while on a business trip So this was a great way to get some exercise and see the beautiful landscape of Tucson! It took a little bit close to two hours to scale up and down but we had a slower group I think you could easily do in just over an hour. We caught it at sunset which was beautiful - like others I wish there was a water or bathroom facility halfway.
A great way to go and enjoy the outdoors while completing a challenging workout at the same time!
So everyone raves about Tumamoc Hill and how awesome it is. Well I guess it all depends on what you’re looking for in a hiking hill or trail. I frequent A Mountain often because it’s my favourite and it has great views. You can still get a workout but not anything near the workout you will get going up Tumamoc! It’s truly amazing for that aspect. If you want to get in cardio shape go up this hill at least once or twice a week if you have time. For a leisurely stroll and nice views A Mountain is better. You’re too exhausted to really enjoy any views on Tumamoc lol. ️
Early mornings, or late evenings! The best time for a good walk..love this place!
Great hike in the center of Tucson. Its a steep climb but the view is worth it. Along the way youll find an agave garden, and lots of interesting information about the local ecosystem - Flora and fauna. It took us about an hour and a quarter to complete the hike.
I love walking Tumamoc in the early morning. The view is just beautiful. The walk path is a great place to exercise and appreciate where you live. Friendly people along the way.
Beautiful view from the top! Great work out spot.
Its a nice clean, 1.5 mile hike to the top with the path getting steeper the higher you go. You cant have pets up it and you cannot ride a bike or drive up it which makes it a more friendly and safe environment. When you get to the top, you can see the entire city. Open till 10 pm I believe. Also, It can get pretty packed around 430pm-630pm and early mornings, so if you want a nice quiet walk, try to work around those times.
Beautiful...great environment and while your in town check out tumamoc nutrition.
Great exercise! There are people from all walks of life. Young/old, in shape/ out of shape. Everyone keeps to themselves mostly, but once in a while you will get the praise and encouragement to continue. Its a great atmosphere.
This hill is no joke! As others have noted, it can be a steep climb at times, especially in the Tucson heat. Beautiful views await at the top. Be sure to bring plenty of fluids. Theres also a bunch of pokestops and gyms if you are into Pokemon Go. Look out for coyotes!
Good hike! Be cautious of leaving stuff in your car due to break-ins though. Not sure if its allowed but park in hospital parking or go when its busy vs not busy. I think the thieves hit when theres less people around.
Awesome!! Weather was perfect I loved it. My daughter went with me it was a great!! Met up with my Nephew Enoch =)That was his first time..
Very cool spot. Hike was great and the views of Tucson were worth it. Very popular at sunset!
Great when you want short cardio hike uphill in town.
Excellent trail, a little steep, astonishing views especially after dark. Bring a headlamp or flashlight, there were three rattlesnakes on or near the trail when I was there. If you step on one in the dark you WILL get bit.
I Love this hill to go walking the view is beautiful and the incline is the best
Fun walk on paved road; great views along the way
Great experience highly recommend i hauled asphalt to the top 1st load
Loving every time I go. Its always busy easily accessible. Challenging 1.5 mile hike up the hill.
A great hike on a paved road! Beautiful scenery!
This is such a relaxing trail. I go a few times a week with my friends. The views are great and it’s a very easy trail. Just make sure to bring water and comfortable shoes!
Paved trail that gets pretty steep in parts. Provides beautiful views of the city and surrounding scenery. Pretty plants and occasional wildlife. Provides some challenge, but not overly strenuous. Good way to spend 1 to 2 hours depending on how often you stop for views/rest breaks and your pace. Has a historic research center partway up.
Its a slog! Quite the workout hiking up the partially steep inclines albeit on a paved path, 1 and 1/2 miles uphill ... then back down again. Great nature trail with magnificent vistas over the city of Tucson.
Awesome work out! Mainly all incline. Bring water. Beautiful views. Parking is not ideal, depending on time/day.Side note:Porta potty half way up.
A fabulous way to get out if the city and work off energy. Hiking this beast will put a new perspective on your stamina and fitness level.
This is a great place to get exercise, bond with friends and see the city. Keep your valuables secured
A great place to work out
It is TOUGH TO CLIMB!!! But well worth the effort!
Walking up the road to the top is a moderate but very pleasant workout. The view along the way and from the top is reward enough! (The road is about to be repaved and will soon be closed for a couple of weeks.)
They will be repaving and hopefully adding bathrooms soon (1.2019). Steep climb in parts but not too long and since its paved its good for a morning after an overnight rainfall. Good views of Tucson too. I used to hate this hike as a beginning hiker but now it feels manageable and provides a decent work out.
Great exercise, with awesome views and friendly hikers.
Tumamoc hill Always is ready, always so neat. Perfectz views on day or night time.. very good exercise/work out. Always will be a support from others athletics. Every body was on the 1st trying trail. Hard, but not impossible..
Beautiful but crowded. Tumamoc is an intense steady climb. Lots of people. Beautiful views. No dogs. No bikes.
Took me 33 minutes to walk to the top but I made it ohhhhhhh yeahhhhhh
I love tumamoc. Especially to watch sunsets or sunrises
Definitely not easy, far from impossible. Nice view from the top. Not too crowded. A mid point has portable restrooms, drinking water and benches. A great trail for getting in shape!
Such an Amazing & beautiful place to recollect and experience with love of your life.
Beautiful views, reasonably easy trail, few people and beautifully blooming cacti. Id give it 5 stars if it had a water supply or bathroom
Excellent training hike! Something to keep you tight and ready for longer, higher hikes! Never lets me down! I especially love to go at night!!! Tucsons lights are the apple of mine eyes! Lol If you go at night please be courteous and dont shine your light in another persons eyes! I enjoy using my night vision and it can take awhile after being blinded to become accustomed to the dark again. Happy Hiking
Pooular for good reason. Beauty all around and sometimes wildlife. Great spot to catch a sunrise over the city. The path is paved, uphill all the way, and steep in some spots and will probably take most people around 1-1.5 hours round trip. Plenty of parking on the street that goes by St. Marys hospital.
Great place for a short uphill exercise hike!
Took our Wolf, Bear, and Webelos age Cub Scouts along with a few family members on a hike up to Tumamoc Hill and back. A fin time for all.
Im fairly out of shape. This was a great challenge for me. I was really proud of myself for making it to the top, but it wasnt excruciating. The views along the way (especially near sunset) are the best youll get of the Tucson valley. Whatever your athletic ability, give Tumamoc a try!
Steep in some places but paved the whole way and great view at the top.
AWESOME love this place
I come here all the time. Love seeing the diverse range of people going up and down the hill. It gets steeper the further you go up but the view is well worth it. Its a conservation area so there are plenty of wildlife depending on the time of the day/month. Had the luck to see a green mojave rattlesnake slithering its way across the trail. The second time I went here a small herd of whitetail deer crossed in front of me. Coyotes can be heard in the night. Id recommend bringing a flashlight or your phone at night because youll never know what youd find.
Great views made the up worth it!!
No more steppers, treadmills, aerobics, or bikes for me! The hill road starts flat and gently, gradually slopes more and more so you get an automatic warmup. Halfway up there are toilets and a water source. From here to top it gets gradually steeper. Easy to pace yourself and there are a few benches. Views are 360 and keep getting bigger and better as you climb. All this and NO smokers or dogs. The #3 and #21 buses get you close (5 minute walk from bus stop to trail head.) Great aerobic workout!
WOW what a beautiful hike to the top and down, theres wild life if you can see by it like enjoy your time.
Great hike. Paved trail with great views of the Old Pueblo.
This is a great trail to walk in the morning. We walk up with our daughter in a hiking backpack. The view is beautiful! Its a paved trail great for most. If your gonna bring a stroller its gonna be a good workout, the only thing I recommend would to be make sure you have a strap connected from the stroller to you. The hills are steep.
Great incline rewarded with fantastic views from up top.
A great place to hike, its challenging but fun and beautiful. Lots of people hike here, but everyone is really encouraging and supportive. You dont have to feel like you wont fit in no matter your fitness level. There are amazing views and wildlife to enjoy along the way. Its awesome and I try to go once a week. There is a place to get water and use the bathroom halfway up. Bring some toilet tissue to be on the safe side! Friendly reminder, no pets and no smoking please.
Decent trail! Its paved the whole way and its not easy to make it to the top, but its worth it.
Its the best hike in town, but now theres no parking. St. Marys, Carondelet, is towing any cars parked in their lots now. Big signs and barricades. No reason for this. Hikers park far from their buildings. Makes me never want to use their medical services.
Perfect!! A nice leg burning escalator type (smooth) up hill climb but well worth it!!!!
Love the hike...but to have to worry about your car getting towed ( they pulled several) on a Sunday?!?! Come on Tucson, you can treat us better than this. No towing cars on non business days!
Wonderful hiking trail, its paved but it gets pretty steep in some areas. Would recommend going early in the day. The view from the top is definitely worth it!
My favorite hike in Tucson. It’s a steep and steady incline with a drinking fountain and ports potty midway. The reward is the views at the top. Lots of hikers sharing the newly paved path. Total distance up n down is 3 miles.
A great challenge with a pretty view of the city!
A challenge as always ... Everyone was wearing masks.
Trial itself is not hard but it’s very step, you can get more train if you run faster but it also easy for walking. The view of city become nicer as step up.
Loved the View of the city 5 Stars for sure going again.
Magnificent view. The climb is intense but well worth it.
Very challenging hill, one should be exercising and in some physical shape before attempting this hill or their gonna feel it for the next few days. And u might not make it all the way, but keep coming back till you conquer the hill, its a great feeling. Havent done it in about a month, so i felt it going up, but love the feeling coming down. Great views all the way too, especially up top. Enjoy!
Nice little paved road to the top. Hike in the evening and see the city lights. Lots of people there, so it feels safe.
9 years later still cant get enough
Good exercise and a beautiful view of the city, but dont forget to bring water and wear a good pair of walking shoes! That was my down fall today, but that aside it was definitely an enjoyable experience.
Good work out trail
Beautiful place to get a work out and be in nature. If you go at night, please go with someone.
1.4 miles up a paved driveway to the top of the hill. This is a great place to hike and get a good workout at the same time. Great views of the city.
Just moved to town friends brought me up here and its awesome, great to see so many people out, getting fresh air and exercising
If you havent hiked it yet youre missing out!
It was a great experience!
Its longer than I thought but would be gorgeous for sunrise or sunset!
The city looks beautiful when you reach to the top, it’s nice to have something free to do to enjoy Mother Nature.
Great walk and a chance to see some wildlife.
The repaved road is nice. Good view of Tucson. Its a challenge to walk and a good goal to run the entire way. Dont park in the hospital business area and take a chance of getting towed. They do tow! I know :(
A fun paved trail to hike either alone or with friends and has a very rewarding View at the top.
If you are a native to Tucson or here for a visit, Tumamoc is a must see and do!TUMAMOC STRONG!
I have recently discovered the Hills trail and love the incline it has, seems like the right cardio for me and as much as I want to push myself and Im so happy to see Im not the only one... A very popular destination for folks that want a good but not strenuous climb, and a great view of the opposing Catalinas and the Beautiful city we live in, and dont forget a great way to expand your lungs, your mind and body, Oooommmm
Like the incline but LOVE the wildlife, botanical and if course the View. Stirring.
Great climb beautiful views long the trail.
Fantastic workout. Beautiful views reward your efforts.
Great cardio. Steep incline. Great first date location
Clean and picturesque paved path for a full 1.5 miles one way while giving you a decent 720 vertical workout. Great city vistas!
I didnt want to hike here because its paved but its so worth it.
Good path, good views, good fun. But the people the people are the problem. Let me explain there are some people who nice, but the people who are not paying attention you and to what they are doing. So thats why I give 4 stars.
An amazing hike with breathtaking views! Dont forget to bring you water and wear good shoes
Great place to see Tucson and peiple of Tucson
Tumamoc is a great little hiking trail with plenty of inclines. A nice workout wether you walk or jog up with an amazing view at the top. I recommend going with a partner as there are drop offs.
If you need and want to get some cardio in, this is the place . And you get a view!
Awesome place for a quick hike! Great views of the city at night, and so much to see during the day! Now that the path is paved the whole way up, I feel like the hike is a little easier than it used to be, and its a nice touch overall.
BEST HIKE EVER ITS BEAUTIFUL AND RIGHT IN THE HEART OF THE OLD PUEBLO..... And sometimes you get to see the deer walking around
Great sunset hike location. There are some steep spots but everything is paved making it fairly easy. You can take it slow on the way up while enjoying incredible views along the whole route or challenge yourself and make it a workout. We walked at a moderate pace and took multiple photo stops along the way. It took us about 40-45 minutes to make it to the top. There was only 1 porta-potty on the way up so try to plan possible bathroom needs accordingly.***TIPS for planning a sunset hike:***1. Search Google to get the official Tucson sunset time.2. Arrive and park 1 hour before the official sunset time to give yourself plenty of time to hike to the top at a leisurely pace and see the ACTUAL sunset behind the mountain.3. Bring a flashlight or use your phones light for the walk down the trail after the sun goes down.Enjoy.
