Beautiful and amazing. Did the Rattlesnake trail combined with the Phoneline Trail. Ouch. So many STONES! 9.1 miles. But SO BEAUTIFUL! And the Tram for seven dollars saved me the walk back to the Visitor Center. The staff couldnt be kinder or more informative. Ill go back after I do a soak in EPSOM SALT.
Amazing place to hike and (after 5:00 pm) bike. If you bike to the top of the road and are fast enough, you can see a beautiful Arizona sunset from the back of the canyon. Bring a lot of water and a hat.
The most breathtaking hike I’ve ever taken in my life. Highly recommend. Bring lots of water and be ready for a good 6 hours
Insane beauty and very accessible. Because of this, its a very popular and busy place. The Seven Falls trail is a perfect way to experience the canyon, however, is very heavily trafficked. Luckily, most visitors are super friendly and just want to enjoy the outdoors. We ran into a few people that were blasting music from their backpacks but this is to be expected on a trail that is so accessible to the general public - albeit super annoying.
What a beautiful park! Truly enjoyed our visit here. We took the Espero Trail to Rattlesnake, and down Bluff. Definitely worth the hike! Definitely take lots of water. The tram was an enjoyable and educational ride, it was a nice ride after our long hike, we got to learn so much about the park and its wonderful history.
Nice trails and friendly park rangers. One of my favorite trails here is 7 Falls. Make sure go when the falls are flowing. I recommend running or hiking with a map or GPS device some trails are tricky to find and alternate from left and right side of the riverbed.
Beautiful area with lots of hiking options. Volunteer guides are friendly and knowledgeable. Entrance fee is $5/day or $10/week. You can also get an annual membership for. $20. There are a variety of hiking trails. Most are easily navigable.
Beautiful area, amazing views with well kept clean grounds. Adorable gift shop and unique cactus jellies and hot sauces. Guides were super patient and friendly and went the extra steps to ensure they gave u the best possible experiences possible which we really appreciate and will remember for years to come. Thank you for the wonderful memories.
Had a great experience with the family...nice facilities at the foot for visitor center...tram to the top is a more noisy but I liked the narrated story on the way. The walk down was beautiful with nice rest stops along the way with clean (though primitive) restrooms, water and shaded shelter. Beautiful scenery.
Great park to hike around in for all ages. The main roads to the trail heads are paved which a lot people will sole walk along while enjoying the beautiful mountains.
So incredible. Absolutely without a shadow of a doubt come here. Bring water though lol! And a good hat.
Beautiful place. Well have to go back and explore more.We have been back a couple of times, and find this place to be an amazing place for hiking, birding and nature. The tram ride was spectacular. Saw a few birds including Road Runner and Blue-gray Gnatcatcher in January.
There are so many adventures to find in Sabino and Bear Canyons. Not only is it an excellent way to beat the I tence summer heat of Tucson, it is enjoyable year-round. There are moonlight hikes, as well as sunrise and sunset adventures to be had. Wear good walking shoes! If not, you will wish you had. Alternatively, there is tram service that can still allow those with limited mobility to enjoy the beauty that Tucson has to offer in these majestic canyons. I highly recommend the All Trails app, as it can be easy to lose your way on any hike, but in Sabino/Bear, you are far enough removed from civilization, it could be more difficult than a local hike, should you lose your bearings.
Went on Easter Sunday. Nice easy walk to the dam where it was crowded but fun to hang out. Nice water feature - kids growing up in this area are very fortunate to have this so accessible! So many trails but so little time to explore them....will need to make another trip!
Tucson is desert but beautiful! Sabino canyon definitely shows the beauty of it. I give the canyons 5 stars. Tons of trails and places to explore. Restroom almost everywhere you hike. Off trail and paved. Excellent a must see when hiking Tucson
Very clean and respectful place to go enjoy an on-trail or off-trail hike. Did the 7 Falls trail and it was definitely worth the time! Would recommend to anyone in fair shape - there was running water!
Sabino Canyon is awesome for locals and “tourists” (visitors) alike. Start at the base camp, pay a daily entry fee (or buy an annual pass of you are local) and either walk or talk the tram. The tram is $12/pp so walk unless you can’t.The hike can be long to the top but you can turn around anytime as the path is paved or you can go “off piste” (off the main paved trail) and have some fun exploring the many side trails. See the dam that is a short 1-2 mile hike or go to the top (7 falls) if your fit. This is a Tucson “must do”, so just do it!VictorB
A must visit Tucson area State Park!! Sabino Canyon is a beautiful slice of the Western Deserts, well worth the small entry fee. We enjoyed a mildly strenuous September hike up the paved road early in the morning. We returned along power line trail. The 9.6 mile loop was mostly in the shade and was comfortable even as the temperatures rose to the low 90s by 10 am. Recommend you carry plenty of water even in the early fall.
Sabino is my happy place. The views are spectacular from any place. The hiking trails are well maintained and have many options from novice to advanced. The visitors center is fun to walk through and see the history of the canyon. Expect to see lots of animals from snakes to roadrunner, turtles and deer. During spring break and similar holidays, the parking is unavailable. But Sabino usually will offer free bus rides from Udall Park during these busy times. Its great for all ages and abilities. A wonderful special place to enjoy nature and decompress from life.
We went with a tour for kindergarten, it was pretty great, kept the kids entertained and they learned from the group activities as well. My favorite part was the very beginning and all of the guides together putting on a show for the kids.
Love this place! So many different hiking options. Visitors Center with shopping and information from the Rangers. Trams arent running right now because they are finally upgrading to electric soon! So very peaceful now. $5/day admission. Better deals for weekly & monthly, or use your National Parks Pass. A Dont Miss place if youre in Tucson!
Hiking, picnics, family gatherings, exploring and photography, to name just a few. Amazing place
A great place with many hiking trails. Whether its sunrise or sunset the views in the area are amazing!
Fantastic place to enjoy nature and go for long hikes. Paved and unpaved roads throughout. Seven Falls is within the canyon itself, though it is quite a hike. The dam itself tends to have flowing water most of the time, especially during monsoon season or from melting snowfall. You can also purchase a $20 parking tag that lasts all year long and can visit as many times as you’d like. Overall a wonderful location.
Easy to moderate hike. Facilities are well maintained and clean. Staff/volunteers are helpful and knowledgeable.---> Bring bug spray! I kid you not
Went here in January so it wasn’t crowded. I love this place. So many trails in such a beautiful setting. I could spend all day here but I have dogs so I have to go home lol. Parking was easy people were nice. Enjoyed the little dam and the river. I will be back soon.
I loved everything about this tour, the canyon was beautiful and perfectly maintained. The driver was nice and hospitapal. The only complaint I had had nothing to do with the canyon...but the gal who brought her 4 kids and between them fighting and screaming and her screaming at them it was hard to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere
I went here on a field trip with my childs school. All of the guides were really nice, worked well with the children, and did their best to give the children needed attention on our tours. We got so see some wildlife and few times, go near the waterfall, and sift through a river for garnet and magnetite. After we were able to eat at a few picnic tables and enjoy more of the park.
Sabino Canyon recreation area is a great place to go hiking. No shortage of trails and scenery to enjoy. ️
Our best experience in Tucson. breathtaking beauty, v helpful rangers to guide you based on what you want to do.. didnt take the tram and enjoyed the stunning views
Clean hiking trail lots of traffic but awesome views and not to bad of a hike 8 miles.
Sabino canyon is one of the busiest parks in Tucson for a reason! I have been on multiple hikes here from full moon night hikes on the trolley road to the 7 falls and all are amazing! I recommend getting an early start though as even at sunrise 5:45 on Easter Sunday, there were about 20 cars in the parking lot. By the time I had completed the 8+mile 7 falls hike around 8, the parking lot was packed and the trails were crazy! Even with the crowds this is one of the best ways to spend $5 anywhere!!
This is a great place to hike and see the view of the mountains at any age or skill level. I love taking the tram up to stop 9 and hiking the telephone trail back. Last time I visited, I saw a coati and a gila monster! Hiking here is my favorite thing to do in Tucson!
Only have a day to hike and want to see a lot? Sabino Canyon delivers. Trails are clean and free of obstacles. I hiked about five miles following trails and ending off of phone line trails and shuttle stop #9 and walked the road back. The shuttle service is inexpensive and would provide good service for anyone on a tour.
Absolutely beautiful. We want on the hike to the Seven Falls. It was a moderate to difficult hike. We are beginners and it was doable but difficult. Well worth it for the nature and the views.
Fab walks easy to get to from any part of Tucson. We loved it here and did quite a few walks. Take water and hat! There are rest rooms on the routes and water taps. Scenery is amazing. Look out for critters.
Amazing hike to many available trails. We enjoyed crossing all the water (in March) were wowed by the grand finale at 7 falls.
Of all the parks in the Tucson area, this one is my favorite. They offer more than enough variety of trails and Hiking Adventure it is not only a breathtaking view but educational and therapeutic as well. I would highly recommend several visits to see it all. The warm and friendly staff will more than assist you but inform you as to what you can see and variety of canyons and trails. There are several Canyons throughout the park that offer different views and adventure. There is also a really cool Creek that runs through the park that you can enjoy with the whole family or by yourself. I will definitely be going back more than I probably should, but if youre like me and enjoy beautiful outdoor views and wonderful hiking Adventure, this is your place. Be sure to take water friendly shoes if you want to explore the whole part. Certain parts of the park and trails run through the creek and allow you to dip your feet in the cool refreshing water offered by Mother Nature.
Loved this canyon. We did the 7 falls hike about 1 hour 15 minutes up after taking the shuttle at a cost of 6 $ each, can use credit card at a machine to buy the ticket. The waterfalls are beautiful and the hike through flowers trees and cacti are amazing. Wear runners or hiking boots with traction. The other shuttle up to the top is 12 $ and has an audio. One day parking is 8$ and one week is 10$ wish we knew this before arriving as we would have come for at least 2 days there are so many hikes !
The views and wildlife are beyond spectacular. 7 falls trail is one of my favorites in the entire state!!! The trails in Sabino Canyon are more than just beautiful but a place to achieve a zen like experience and become one with nature. A place to touch multiple chakras and free your mind. The biggest benefit is your health is always increasing from the fun and breakthanking exercise and views!!! Enjoy friends!!
An oasis in the desert located on the northeast side of Tucson in the foothills. There are a number of trails to access from the visitor center. Short trails that take you on interpretive trails of the desert plant life, trails that are longer and more strenuous to stunning vistas and into canyons that have waterfalls and riparian habitat and trails to catch a glimpse of the animals that inhabit the area such as roadrunners and mountain lion. An amazing place of spectacular scenery! There is a shuttle that runs through the canyon to reach higher areas and trails. There are picnic tables and restrooms and bicycles are allowed on the paved trails within certain times.
Great place to see the Saguaros in their natural habitat. Lots of hiking trails in the area or let the tram take you up/down the tramway. Stop & have lunch/camping available. They have a gift shop there too. Or if you want to get away from people, take one of MANY trails in the area!
A top destination for Tucson. Close to town and amazing scenery! Tons of places to explore if you are ready for the walk/hike. Or you can jump on a tram for a guided tour. Mornings and afternoons make for perfect pictures. Fall offer a rare Tucson site with leaves changing color. Great for all ages.
My girlfriend brought me here for a hike and it was my very first one. She is super athletic and super beautiful but I was in over my head since being afraid of heights would have been a no go however she pushed me way beyond my limits of fear and physical strength and endurance. I barely kept up with her. My legs were burning. Then the burning reached my but and sides. Yea, a bit out if shape. I had absolutely no idea that I would have ever been able to do a fraction of that hike but she kicked my ass the whole way and I am so amazed by her in doing what she did for me. It was one crazy challenge that no one could ever have me do but she was the one. The only one. Just beautiful! Im gonna be hurting tomorrow! But my babe is so totally worth it! God I love her! Oh and we saw a couple deer!
Great canyon with miles upon miles of trails and paths. You can easily spend a day here.
This was a beautiful place and the hike was amazing, went with my sister when I visited
Just amazing! If you havent been here yet you must make some time. Me, my fiance, and Friend went to seven falls. All though there wasnt a lot of water, it was still perfect. Make sure to pack enough snacks and take lots of water!
Cannot express how beautiful this place is. There are paths for families up to advanced trail blazers. There are several places to swim and wonderful scenery. There is a tram that will take you to different stops throughout the park if you dont feel like hiking. Loved this park. Its a must see.
Fun hike here. Can take the paced road or a trail. Saw a tortoise and rattle snake last time I was there. Also caught a beatiful rainbow there even though it hadnt rained. Highly recommend as a good hike for starters.
Difficult times, not many places you can walk out and explore but somehow we have told by a local person this is a very nice place in the heart of the mountains. It was a little long walk but not too bad and if you ever visit Tucson, AZ Ill definitely recommend the Sabino Canyon. We had a lot of fun. Back to nature!!
Despite the rain. It was fantastic. We took the east side trail of the sabino dam, crossed over to the Esperanza trail. Water was running were chirping,.our guests even spotted a Ruby Crowned Kinglet. The rangers said it was the first time anyone had spotted those birds in the canyon so they made us document it in the office.
It makes for a good hike.On the road or take it off trail. You go off trail, be on your guardfor snakes & very possible otherwild life. Keep your eyes on the ground5 to 10 feet in front of you, LOTS !Not to scare you, but theyre out there....
Its my go to spot for a good hike. With different trails and the beautiful scenery, I would highly recommend the Sabino to everyone including tourist in the area.
Awesome place to visit while in the tucson area, seems like theres plenty of parking but again we went on a Monday in April. $5 daily pass required and bus tickets were $10 a person.
Super duper place. Great trails, which are well defined, that support all types of hikers. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife. Beautiful saguaros and prickly pears to delight you.
Great time! Rode the tram up and then on the way down hopped off at stop 6 to allow the kids to play in the water for a bit. Walked the entire way back to the Visitor Center as all the trams were full coming back down. Kids were able to do it without complaint. Great day spent exercising and enjoying AZ scenery.
My Sabino adventure began well and took a turn at the end :-( .As an avid hiker I decided with some guidance from a local hiker that Blacketts Ridge trail would be best for the day. Its a 6.2 mile hike with a 1,700 incline. Its tough for sure, yet slow and steady always wins the race.I made it back before sunset to a strategically placed red STICKER on my car warning me that I was in a spot that was not a parking space. I must admit, I was aware and took a chance that my car being small it would not cause any problems to other hikers or drivers. I made a mistake - this I know. It was a severely busy day, no excuses. There are many ways to inform hikers that they made a mistake. The sticker did not peel off easily. Having a RED sticker on my car that does not come off easily after a 6.2 mile hike may create more than a RED face. I would have rather had a real ticket at the end of day. Thanks for the lesson SCRA. Got it.
Such a great place. Blacletts ridge is the most intense hike but Seven falls is a natures wonder. Do phone line trail if you go early hike as it is shaded all morning by the mountain.
Volunteers were great. Nice trails. Great hikes and great views well worth it. Only thing that would make it better allow dogs.
My girlfriend and I were on the last day of our vacation in Tucson, and were about to leave, when a local we met at our hotel told us that we absolutely had to visit Sabino Canyon. So we packed all of our bags and stopped there on the way out of Tucson. I am insanely glad we did. This place was beautiful and a great way to see the Sonoran desert from the comfort of a open air bus. Our driver/guide pointed out all of the interesting landmarks and features on the way to the top of the canyon. There is a ton more to do here, including hiking, swimming, bicycling, etc.- but unfortunately our time was short. Awesome experience though.A must-do in Tucson.
Clean trails with gorgeous views, plenty of water and facilities along the way. Tram available if needed. Day pass is $5 and worth it, these funds go into maintaining this park. Excellent parking
This amazing canyon in one of the main water sheds for the Santa Catalina mountains. It has it all. From year round tinajas, deep canyons, banded gneiss, lush green riparian areas, to strong ridge line hikes, and great staff and volunteers. Its wild with life so bring water and sunscreen.
Great park, I would recommend a year pass so you don’t have to pay every time you come. There are so many hiking trails and things to do here that You could come very weekend and not see everything.
Awesome place! Guides were very helpful!
Fantastic hike! Seven falls is 9 miles, but totally worth it! Go early, and bring layers. Also, plan on either taking off your shoes a couple times, depending on the time of year.
Hiked back to Seven Falls. The water was flowing great. The river crossings are always awesome, and fun to navigate across.
Friends took us hiking and wow, what a cool place!! Hiking for all abilities and such a beautiful area. Felt safe and so very much enjoyed it!!!
BRING PLENTY OF WATER AND A CAMERA! The views take your breath away, but so do some of the trails! Be prepared for a hike, not just a nature walk. Safety first! AND respect the area! It is home to very unique fauna & flora of the Sonoran Dessert... UNPARALLELED PLACE!
Amazing hiking, great views, and a 3.7 mile paved road which offers a smooth hike or shuttle service up into the canyon. I enjoyed all the trails. A few link up with Romero Pools Trail in Catalina State Park for a nice day hike or you could summit Mt Lemmon in a day, if your looking for a better challenge. Parking lot is paved and the building offers a gift shop. Ask the rangers for some info, snap some pics, and enjoy the outdoors. Ill see you on the trail.
Loved it! A good hike with some breathe taking views! A trail for everyone!
Great hike. We take the tram to the top and walk down. Easy peezy.
I ama not fond of hiking or nature but this was pretty cool to see here in the desert. It was an office function, so it was forced fun.
My new favorite place to hike! The visitor center is great and has lots of payment options. We went on easter Sunday and even though it was crowded, you could still find parking. Theres a bus that will take you to the trailhead, but we chose to walk up, which was beautiful. There are plenty of benches and bathrooms along the way. The canyon itself is pretty, full of creek crossings and natural rock formations.
Hiking in Sabino Canyon is great! Especially in Fall and Spring. There are so many trails at multiple levels. I love living so close! Id youve never been its worth a try!
I would recommend arriving early since it seems to attract tons of visitors year-round. Sabino Canyon is beautiful and great for many reasons, one of them being the variety of trails and sights including but not limited to waterfalls, dams, cacti, paved roads or rugged paths. I would come here all the time while living in Tucson and love revisiting when I can.
Beautiful day hike, we packed a lunch hung out at 7falls definitely bring shoes to change into because you cross the creek quite a few times.
Excellent day hiking in the Canyon. A variety of trails, from easy to difficult are available with beautiful scenery in every direction. Walk any of the trails heading up for geourgous views of Tucson spread out across the value.
Great outdoor activity! Paved roads for strollers and elderly, and plenty of dirt trails for those who are able. Nice to see flowing water when the snow is melting in the mountains too. Beautiful place.
Beautiful place... Lots of hiking trails for different abilities. Lots of parking. Downside - it gets pretty crowded.
Tram ride a few miles up was great. The driver was cool because she showed cool things we were interested in and didnt go by a script. Saw a deer and gila monster. I also enjoyed biking afterwards. Its an incredibly beautiful place.
This is one of the Tucson must dos if you are visiting or if you are a resident. The season pass is very affordable and you can access the Canyon almost anytime you want. Great views, great selection of trails, a wealth of information, and the staff and volunteers are fantastic. Just GO!!!
Hiked up Phoneline trail #27 to tram stop 9 and then hiked back out the road to visitors centerGreat day in Sabino Canyon
Great staff and awesome trails for all levels of hiking or walking. Great for all ages and families.
Amazing scenery, lots of trails. I highly recommend water at all times and dont force yourself to do more than you can handle.
If you are up for a little challenge, the hike up to the falls is definitely worth it, and there is water most of the time- a big recommend for desert lovers.
Nice touch having an option to get to explore and see the beautiful area for the non-hiking crowd as well as ones who do hike.
Wonderful. Bring a bottle of water, comfy shoes and a camera.
Sabino Canyon is a must see destination for anyone visiting or new to Tucson! Learn all about the desert and history of this beautiful desert Oasis! Sabino Canyon is what you get when you add water to the desert! Ive been coming here for over 30 years and every visit I learn and see new things!
Wonderful hiking opportunities from low saguaro desert to higher grasslands. A cool oasis with seasonal stream lined with cottonwood and sycamore trees. You can pay ten bucks and ride a tram up canyon and get on and off or walk miles and miles. Wonderful.
I love to come out here and unwind and bask in the great scenery!!
Beautiful hiking trails with varied difficulty rating. Exceptional falls/river area....and the suguaro !!!
It is an absolutely beautiful canyon worth visiting. Hiked 10 miles on well maintained trails. Trails in the Catalinas are rocky, so be prepared on the higher trails.Extra kudos to the employees at the National Park that continue to clean the restrooms and the park while furloughed (34 days so far without pay). It was super busy on a weekday and there were no overflowing trash bins or anything out disorder. Thank you Sabino Canyon NP volunteers!!
Beautiful area full of cactus and nice path to walk or run. Theres even a train that goes up to the top.
Beautiful! Very rustic. I wish the trails had some more markers, its quite easy to lose track of where you are.
I like coming here for hikes when the weather is cooler. There are trams that will take you up the road and back, or you can walk it yourself. There are a lot of trails to choose from. All ranging from roads to dirt, and easy to difficult. The dam is fun to watch when it has rained recently. There are a lot of bathrooms along the road trail. A year pass is only $20. I usually see some form of wildlife every time I go.
