The Reid Park Zoo is a wonderful place to take your family or hang out with a bunch of co-workers like I did. The zoo is a perfect size to see many animals in a small amount of time. The giraffes are the center of the zoo and you keep coming back to them making it very difficult to get lost, turned around or miss anything. The animals were all active and happy, this seems like its a wonderful place for them to live!
Our family loved this zoo! We arrived shortly after they opened on a Friday and it wasnt busy at all. It is very reasonably priced and small enough to see everything in about 2 hours, 3 hours if you really take your time. I recommend this zoo to anyone visiting Tuscon. Beware of the peacocks though, they tend to wander the zoo and protest very loudly!
The Reid Park is a lovely park with a pond, playgrounds and they host things like free movies under the stars too. We went to the Reid park Zoo, an event called Boo at the Zoo for a Halloween thing too. It was very crowded but nice for the kids. I prefer the Zoo during the day! Love seeing the animals at The Reid Park Zoo!!
So I have lived here for 9 years. I finally took a day and visited the zoo.The staff was amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable and patient. There were several buses of kids there and they were talking to the kids and sharing a lot of info.I was there with my granddaughter and she absolutely had a blast. The animals were out for thr most part which was nice.I love that its affordable so I didnt mind spending a few hours and when it was hot, too hot we left.
Reid Park is a wonderful, large city park with tons of activities and great facilities. Beyond the usual baseball fields and playgrounds, it hosts a sizeable dog park, amphitheatre, rose garden, and duck pond. The park is always teeming with young families, social clubs, and dog owners. There are well-maintained grass fields and a number of tall trees for shade. I highly recommend this park - some of my best childhood memories are here!
So, for me and my boys this is the perfect zoo. It is small enough to see in a couple of hours with is great for kids. Frankly I think it is a great fit for Tucson.I would encourage anyone thinking of going to just get the membership with free entry all year. It pretty much pays for itself when if you only go twice. The animals are fantastic, but the other thing is that the visit gets you out to walk. It is a great way to spend active time with the family!
Went to the zoo here, lots of animals, good sized zoo. Had alot of fun with the kids and family. They have bears, ostriches, giraffes, rhinoceros, peacocks, tigers, lions, meerkats, snakes, etc. The panther was black, sleek and beautiful. The ducks and swans were fun to watch swimming around. We had a great time. Only thing is they dont have a military discount, which was disappointing.
Loved the zoo! So amazing all the animals were active. Kids loved it. Definitely recommend.
I saw so many animals interact way more than Ive seen at other zoos. Im sure it had to do with the time I went, but overall it was an amazing experience!
We absolutely love visiting the zoo and each time we experience something new. So much fun!
Really nice urban park. Huge trees, grass, picnic tables, what more can you ask for. With the shade and grass it is cool even in the heat. The Rose Garden is beautiful. Huge variety of species and colors. Reid Park Zoo is a hidden gem to educate everyone! The evening concerts, sitting on the grass, listening to the Tuscon, under the stars, for free, is something not to be missed. No problems with homeless people and quite a few police patrols. Highly recommend!
What an enjoyable experience! The lighted displays were well done. The size of the zoo is good for the very young to mature adults.
Great public park. In process of a number of upgrades which will be nice.
A good variety of animals. Each time it is different.
Visited with the grand kids, had a good time. Kids loved seeing the giraffes and tigers. Great place to visit. I liked that there were several spots through it Reid Park Zoo, to sit and enjoy the animals. At Reid Park Zoo, if course theres walking involved, but its not over whelming. They have wheel chair rental, I was fortunate not to need one for this visit, my sister did and the rental fee was very reasonable. Were from Lancaster, CA. and we visit Rillito, AZ every year from this point on visiting Reid Park Zoo will be on our To Go To List!!! To the Staff at Reid Park Zoo, Thank Yous!!!, for making our visit so nice and enjoyable!!!
Loved this park. Economic prices and the animals are well taken care of and full of energy. My family also enjoyed the carousel inside.
Is a cool place to go, u may get hot walking around but its fun and great for kids
There are two new play equipment areas with a variety of activities for kids ages 2-5 and 5-12. My 18 month old is tall so he was able to navigate both play areas (with my help at times). The swings have a vinyl/plastic pad under each so no divot develops under the swing allowing young children to reach the swings; I have not seen this feature at any other park.I really appreciate the new chain link fence that borders approximately half of these new play areas so kids cannot run into the rest of the park so easily. Thank you for a great morning of outdoor exploration!
Great zoo. Went early in the morning and therefore expected some animals to be out and about. Tigers and Jaguar for example. Had a great taco salad at the cafe.
A nice little zoo. We went to an after hours event, in hopes of escaping some heat. (It was 103 degrees.) The staff said there would be a limited number animals out. There was musicicians playing, a bounce house, and some local community service stations (811). All other events where an extra charge (face painting, carousel, giraffe feeding...) that I wish was specified before hand so I could have anticipated the expense a little better. We ended up leaving within the first hour of being there, due to the heat.
Love taking our boys to the zoo. As promised the park is getting the new play area they just started with fencing of the construction area.
Cute little zoo you can easily do in a day. Family friendly and neatly laid out.
Fun park, great events, rose garden, lots of playgrounds and a pond. The zoo is also located here.Grills and picnic tables around if you wish to bbq with the family.Yearly they host the firefighters chili cookoff. One of my favorite events there. If you find my review helpful, please click like!
Fun playground. Lots of space. Big trees. Plenty of outdoor options. Great running and bike paths.Grass is always dry.
Edit: Twice now, Ive seen some beautiful herons here. Theyre fantastic, and I hope to keep seeing them.As a kid, I really liked coming here to look at the ducks, and after visiting recently, its still great. Its a good, peaceful way to spend a weekend morning. There are tons of different kinds of ducks in the pond, and they seem congregate in two different areas. I really recommend taking kids to see them. Theres something about ducks that kids love, and for me, thats turned into a lifelong love. However, as a general tip, feeding ducks bread is a bad idea. Its not good for them. Instead, try oats, corn, or peas. The ducks will love it all the same, and theyll be healthier too.As for the rest of the park, it seems well taken care of, and judging by the number of kids on the play structures at 8am, Id guess those are pretty fun too.
Beautiful park with two ponds, two playgrounds for kids and lots of ducks to feed. Within the park you find the zoo as well. There is a little childrens train that goes around the largest pond(which has a fountain in the middle) and back the zoo. Lovely place to go for a picnic with the littles.
Nice large park with a little of everything. Great way to spend the day.
My kids luv playing here. We like feeding the ducks. Its cool to see a park that kids with special needs can play at too.
The night zoo lights!! So much fun and an unusual way to see some of the animals. A totally different zoo experience.
We LOVE the zoo! This was one of the BEST visits ever! The BEARS WERE AWESOME!
Was perfect! loved it. we have a wonderful time. staff was super friendly.
Pretty park with interesting features, the rose garden is lovely with a fantastic variety, there is a cute pond with ducks and geese, a little stream feature with water fall and play grounds. The adorable train is great for children of all ages.
I appreciate the diversity of kids playing at Reid Park. I like to go to this park, rather than the park near my neighborhood, to make sure my kids are surrounded by other diverse kids and communities. While at Reid Park my kids enjoy playing on the playground toys and equipment. They also like chasing squirrels. They like seeing the Ducks and they like walking around the pond.We have not yet had the kids ride on the train that circles the pond and goes to the zoo, but will likely do that in the next visit.
We actually went to the Asian Lantern Festival at the Reid Park Zoo.It was very well done. This is our second year of attending the event.I highly recommend it not only for the benefit the zoo receives but as a wonderful night out.The weather was perfect and I really enjoyed being outside instead of in a structure.
Visited during Summer evening hours and it was fun. Animals were visible and crowds were reasonable.
This is a fun park with lots of options for playgrounds, parking, and ponds. As a bonus you get to enjoy the sounds of the zoo or go visit. Awesome jogging/walking area with different trails to explore. Then you can go cool off and take a dip in the pool, go practice your long drive, play some tennis, it enjoy a ball game. I love this park!
Very nice atmosphere, people are nice, quite clean for a park. There are ramadas for parties, and you can check out some cool structures and art. Nice place to spend an afternoon.
Visited the zoo, as always a fun experience. Better to go early in the day.
Love the zoo, who can possibly resist! Feeding the giraffes was the ultimate for my granddaughter, its her favorite animal!
Love this zoo small enough for the kids to stay intrested until the end. Wear sunscreen, pack water and enjoy your journey through the little exhibits. And even the gift shop is a great stop not to expensive. With the help of the staff we found some amazing trinkets our son was thrilled with his purchases
This is a lovely park. The rose garden is a feast forr the eyes and nose. Its amazing that in the old area of wonderful Tucson there is a somewhat hidden treasure of this park. Besides a gorgeous rose garden, there is a nice picnic area, and a pond with 100s of ducks and geese. Lots of folks float their mechanical sailboats there. Its a very relaxing and enjoyable place to take in beautiful sights and to watch a peaceful pond with nature at its grandest. This is a MUST SEE for visitors to Tucson.
Very cool and it seems like they take very good care of the animals. The do close a little early but you have plenty of time to see all the amazing animals. The staff are very friendly
The Reid Park Zoo is great! Small enough to see if a few hours, just when your kids are ready to do something else, youve seen it all!
Very nice park. I was there for the first time last Sunday for an arts and crafts sale. I didnt have time to go see the animals.
This park has the best dog park in town, especially for large dogs. The enclosed area has seating for you to relax while your dog prances and plays with other dogs. Then take them for a lovely stroll over to the fountain area and hold on tight to the leash....there’s lots and lots of ducks! This is a lovely park for everyone. Don’t forget to visit the rose garden!
Great park cool turtles in pond. Couple play areas for children, rose garden, walk ways and lots of ducks!
Peaceful & Picturesque! My beau & I enjoyed spending the day together at Reid Park Zoo. Its not large like city zoos so we were able to stroll, enjoy the scenery & take photos. Nice place to go on a date. ♡
They just added a new playground near the outdoor park and it is excellent. There is a space designated for toddlers and a space for older children. My daughters and I love coming here to play and feed the ducks. The many trees make it a fun visit even in the summer. There is also a really nice track that circumnavigates the entire park including the nearby golf course. The rose park is a fun little spot to visit, and there is a dog run, which I dont use, but I see used often.
Huge park, great for birthdays, BBQs, and if you feel like it you can easily walk to the zoo
Went to the dog park, it was clean. All the dogs and owners were very friendly. My dog enjoyed the quick visit. Easy parking, we went around 730, it wasnt too crowded. Large dog area was a descent size. I didnt really see the rest of the park other than glancing around but it seemed nice. I would return.
Its a great zoo but i feel bad for some animals thats being alone and didnt get a chance to see the zebra but the kids love their zoo
Love the zoo. Membership is worth every penny.
Wonderful venue for an outdoor concert. Parking was surprisingly convenient this particular day. Could use signage to the particular areas.
What a wonderful zoo, all of the animals were in wonderful condition and the park was very well maintained.
Small do but great variety of animals. Clean park and relatively easy to navigate. There were no Jaguars or gazelles though.
The Tucson zoo is really great. Lots of variety for animals and the layout is easy to find exhibits. The pathways are clean and so are the exhibits. Try to go on the early part of the day or you can roast... especially if you have tired kids it can make for a long day.
I enjoyed the zoo i will go bcak here.
Love the RP Zoo! The staff is amazing and I love the animals and special events. The Asian Lantern Festival was spectacular.
I took my ex Sharlene here for Christmas to see the lights worst Christmas ever but have fun at the zoo
I take my dog to the dog park inside here on the southwest side. Theres a large and small dog section separated. There are lots of open fields and ramadas. There is even a large stage for shows and bands. The big pond in the middle is really cool and lots of ducks hanging around.
When we went to the Reid Park Zoo it was the last day for the red panda before it was moved to Utah. I took the kids out to the Zoo and they absolutely had an amazing time very educational two twins ages 3 and one boy age 6 they had never been to the zoo before and they could not stop talking about the zoo after we left and all the neat animals that they got to see great place to take the whole family for a family fun day
Great place to have a BBQ and reunite with family. Cant wait to visit again. I have always loved going to that park
Very nice. The kids had a wonderful experience. Go in the morning, around 10 am. Its very interactive.
Pretty nice park. New covered parking (solar panels). We stop here regularly when we drive in from Sierra Vista. My son loves wading in little river at the top of the hill.
Great place to watch some awesome college baseball
I love coming here. I bring dogs here all the time to train and let them roam free in the dog park. All the dogs I have ran into are always friendly. The pond is beautiful. I love seeing it at night. There is three waterfalls and the smell of them is good. It takes me back to the mountains.
Good fun we have our church picnic there every year to fellowship and make meet new friends.
Love it everytime! The kids have so much fun looking at the animals and feel free to run around without getting in trouble. Zoo keepers are always willing to explain to you any questions regarding the animals, you can really tell they love to be working there.
Went to the evening event. The weather was perfect and the animals were lively.
The zoo is small so the staff and volunteers make it personal. There is always a person to answer questions. When you go, dont forget to get the fruit popsicles.
A good sized park with great handicapped accessible walking paths around some man-made bodies of water. Had BBQ grills available, a fountain fed stream. Had a nice sized enclosed dog park, and a fair amount of playground equipment. Also contains a small but very nice paid access zoo. I would highly recommend it for a nice walk or Pokémon hunt.
Nice and small zoo very good for kids
Many animals. I thought all of the animals were cute! I took to many pictures but I am only showing three.
I have been going to the zoo since I was in elementary school and its gotten so much better!! Its small but very beautiful and very easy to get around. I love that you dont feel like you are in the middle of Tucson. The atmosphere completely surrounds you. The new exhibits are very good especially the Temple of Tiny Monkeys!! The summer night hours are so much fun and the animals are more active. Me and my family had a amazing experience watching the elephants playing!! I had never experienced anything like that ever!!
Great prices. Not too big that your kids are tired and cranky by time you leave, and not too small that there isnt variety of animals. Its just right.
Dog Park is a dirt lot fenced off from the beautiful grass covered grounds all around it. This dog park was built in memory of K9 Officer Miko a fallen TPD K9 Officer killed in the line of duty. The state of that park is literally criminal.
Wild life ducks shaded ramada with electric power play grounds large fields trees lake water stream zoo near by its popular.
I love to bring my dog here, or Ill come by myself, or with friends. Its a fun place and a great park. There are many different faculties in the park including the U of A baseball stadium as well as two other public baseball stadiums. The ponds are beautiful and so are the birds but unfortunately people feed them A LOT, its kind of disgusting, so they are fairly aggressive but nothing to really worry about. The management and cleaning crew do a great job of keeping the park clean and tidy. The swimming pool and zoo are not part of the park technically but they reside within it and are both beautiful. The people are friendly and its a great place to visit especially while its raining.
Tiny zoo. Displays are small and unattractve. By far most uninteresting and unattactive zoo we have ever visited. Admission should be between free and $3. Truly not worth a visit. Go to Sonoran Desert Museum instead.
What a wonderful place to spend the day or just a few hours with the family either playing in the park. Taking a walk around the park and enjoying the great views.
Nice little zoo. Always construction when I go though.
Truly one of Tucsons gems. The park is a great way to see the community come together for family gatherings, fundraisers, or conventions. Lots of pups out for a walk. Love to see the ducks and turtles. Picnics, parties, and more!
The grass was nice and green and the park was clean. The ducks and turtles were out for sightseeing
This place isnt real big but makes up for it in so many different ways
Reid Park is such a fun zoo. We especially love the giraffes and elephants. The elephant exhibit has a bunch of really cool interactive activities.
Not only is the park great for younger and older kids but there is also beautiful ponds filled with friendly ducks and turtles that the kids absolutely adore playing with.
Feeding the giraffe was so much fun. The place is so clean.
A seasons pass is the absolute best thing to buy, especially if you have kids! The enclosures are amazing! The lay out is brilliant. I bring out of town visitors all the time who have access to bigger city zoos and they always enjoy and are impressed by Reid Park Zoo. They insist on returning on future visits.
This is a very lovely little zoo. We went right after they opened and its hot, so not a lot of activity from the animals. The bears and elephants and giraffes were very active, but everyone else was sleeping, even the alligator! There were tons of peacocks everywhere, which was awesome. Not very crowded. I am glad we are members.
This zoo has a nice variety of healthy looking animals. Its easy to tour with shaded paths. We had a great time.
It’s a nice place to hangout with the family and kids
Very nice place to visit, I just wish the water in the lake was cleaner.
This area is beautiful. I usually come to play Pokemon, but the grounds are really well- kept and the rose garden is peaceful and lovely. Its a great place to unwind.
Great place to bring family and friends good environment so much to do at or around Reid Park there is no other place to go but Reid Park
Lots of animals for a small zoo. They have 5 elephants! Clean friendly staff and enjoyable over and over. Thats why we have a zoo membership. Love this zoo!
Went to an outdoor baby at one of the ramadas. There was plenty of room for all the guests, and plenty of shade. The grounds are very pretty
A real sleeper. A great clean and well presented zoo. About all the animals you need and great zoo crew who will go out of there way to answer your questions. Very reasonably priced and easy walking. Will be back.
