Had to grab lunch with my family while in Topeka. The food was very good and not just regular bar food. They have an arcade, bowling alley and bar. I would recommend to anyone. Their COVID-19 procedures are great, posted and made me feel comfortable with my parents joining us.
Great food, great service and wonderful experience. Cost is right in line for the quality of food you get. And the ambiance of restaurant is superb. How many top notch restaurants do you know that has a two lane bowling ally. Dessert matched the overall experience it will keep us coming back again and again.Pictured is the Nutty Buddy milkshake
Simply put: We eloped in Colorado, and thanks to The Pennant, we managed to pull off a Surprise.. We already do wedding reception that was so lovely our families didnt hate us afterward.I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and service at The Pennant. We downsized our wedding event multiple times from March - August, and wound up having the most incredible version of our little big day because of how dedicated their team is.Having grown up in Topeka, the Beer Garden was gorgeous AND nostalgic. Covid note: it was the perfect size for our 20 guests (comfortably distanced). The event menu had something for everyone, and they even let us bring our miniature wedding cake as a special surprise for our family.Andy handled all of our communication and requests in a pleasant yet timely manner, and Tyler served us that night with such ease that we nearly forgot we werent the only ones in the building. Kyle checked in multiple times during our event, and seamlessly handled our last minute requests. Clearly, the team takes pride in their work and the management staff stands by their guest experiences.
Good food, great beer selection. TV screens everywhere, old time video games, bowling lanes, and a totally wicked indulgence of dessert nachos. Cinnamon and sugar dusted chips with chocolate drizzle, 3 scoops of ice cream, strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream! Not to be missed place.
Pennant has a great atmosphere and some awesome deals on their delicious margs. It is a great place to get an appetizer and a beverage. Burgers and entrees could be a bit better. The wait staff has been nothing but excellent.
Great food. Also got some food for my Veteran father, and he enjoyed it as well; which is awesome because he hard to please. Bartender was very nice and didnt mind chatting and working at the same time which made me feel he is awesome because some places have zombie employees and he wasnt and very good at his job.
This place rules. The food is always great, the shakes are fun and well made, and the upstairs old-school arcade is awesome! Very clean environment, helpful & nice staff. Definitely one of my favorite arcades/ restaurants in Topeka.
The food was amazing, our waiter was amazing. The manager however was an as$. No one other than employees wearing a mask and I could not be seated until I wore one. I have a mask exemption due to medical issues and was told there is no such thing. If it had not been for our waiter we would have spent the $100 on lunch at another venue. The tables were all wiped down with the same rag, no one was six feet apart but I could not enter until I put on a mask......... Makes no sense and we will not be back until management pulls there head out of laura Kellys nether region. GOD BLESS THE USA.
Great entertainment. With pinball bowling skieball and arcade game there not much that i could think of that would be better. Plus great food and drinks. A great place for dates and social gatherings!
We loved the tator tot nachos. I got the Strawberry Joy salad with chicken and it was very good. My daughter order the Great White (cauliflower-quinoa patty). She didnt care for it. The taste was good but, the texture of the patty was not what she was expecting. She ate it but would not order again. Side note she is not vegetarian and has not eaten a lot of vegetarian patties so she may have not known what to expect.
Really enjoyed this place. First time in and it was kinda crowded for a Tuesday night. Nevertheless we were seated right away. Service was excellent and the food was very tasty. Highly recommend the Thai cauliflower. A spicy delight. I had the Nashville Chicken sandwich and it was deliciously juicy and flavorful. The topping choices for the fries were really fun. Creamy jalepeno was very good. Surprised it took us this long to check this place out. Next time well enjoy the arcade.:)
Just had their food for the first time through Door Dash. First all the food was put neatly in the carryout containers, it was not just thrown in the container. So it was visually appealing for carryout/delivery meals. Just as a side note, all food arrived as hot and fresh as if I was sitting in the restaurant.Because I was a first time customer I decided to order several appetizers to get a feel for the quality of their menu. I ordered the wings, fried mac n cheese, and the chili con queso. The wings were very meaty and for me, more than Im able to eat. The queso was not out of can and bright yellow, a fabulous white cheese queso, with a splash of spice. The best part, fried mac n cheese. I could have those everyday.I will be a regular from now on, and at some point will try everything on the menu.
My family and I went to The Pennant for a nice family outing. I found the restaurant excellent as did my wife and son. I had the Boy Blue burger and it was by far the best blue cheese burger I’ve ever had. We never get desert but decided to try the Over The Rainbow shake just because we don’t go out like that very often and not only was it big enough to feed a crowd it also tasted amazing. They have an arcade with select classics and some awesome pinball. The place feels like a mom and pop Dave and Busters but with better food and focus more on nostalgia with the arcade. It’s fun to rediscover some classics with the family. The customer service is what takes this place from great to extraordinary. We went to get the cards to play and the machine was down upstairs so we went downstairs to get them and were informed it’s be 15 min or so before we could get cards for the games. We decided to walk dinner off downtown and walked to our car to put our leftovers away. We got back and instead of buying cards the manager handed each of us a loaded card compliments off management for the inconvenience. I was astonished at how well we were taken care of without expecting it at all. We were still willing to pay and he would t hear of it. Keep up the great work y’all! We ant really enjoy the games but we will be happy to order take out during this tough time. We will also love to visit once this dilemma has passed.
Ordered fries.. (garlic parm to the side) —-loved em!White cheddar mac and cheese that was 10$ Should not be fed to anyone i tasted like I was just only eating pasta. No flavor, VERY disappointed
Took our granddaughter for dinner and games. Great service. Very satisfied with the disinfecting of the games.
Where to begin, this place was so fun. The restaurant was delicious, the Mac and cheese bites were very fun to try and tasted delicious. The milkshakes came in so many fun flavors! I got the rainbow one, it had an ice-cream cone with ice-cream inside the milkshake! The arcade was a blast too! About 8 pin ball games, ski ball, and a lot of really cool games to try. They had pac-man, track and field, and so many more! The games are not free, although a game card is absolutely worth the cost. For $20 I got 100 game credits and each game cost roughly around 2-3 credits. My one complaint was the bar. There were a lot of loud, shouting people who had been drinking. Although I understand it is a bar.I would definitely recommend bringing your friends, teens and adults.
The staff are very attentive and friendly. The food is always on point, as well! We enjoy playing games with the kids and appreciate their cleaning between users protocols.
Great food and service today. Spacing was good between tables and it felt safe to be there without a mask on while eating
This place is super cool. Arcade games upstairs in the Irish bar. Bowling alley downstairs. Good food, solid beer selection. Good place in Topeka to grab some beers with friends.
Awesome place! Bowling, arcade, good food and friendly staff. I had the Nashville Chicken and it was so so good! The jalapeno cheese fries are great for any bacon lover! My guest had the Rueben and enjoyed that as well. It was great and not crowded (so for the place to yourself it seems like Thursday nights after 8 are prime!)
Heard a lot of good things about the Pennant Restaurant in downtown Topeka so I wanted to give it a try for lunch.Went there with my Brother in Law. Sat at the upstairs bar. Will say the bartender had no emotion and didnt look or act like she wanted to be there. My Brother in Law got a beer I got tea. The guy sitting beside me ordered a Bud Light and the bartender brought him a Bud heavy.I ordered the fish and chips my Brother in Law ordered a strawberry salad with grilled chicken on it. The fish and chips came out with a huge batch of fries that were tasty and 4 small pieces of fish that was plenty. The fish had a decent flavor the fries were good. The strawberry salad was said to be good but the chicken was so dry he couldnt eat it.All and all it looks like a cool place with arcade games upstairs. It was somewhat busy for lunch so some people must of got good food there or it was convenient for them to eat there. Probably wont go back.
Love the Great White Cauliflower Quinoa patty. Glad to see another vegetarian option on the menu.
We love The Pennant. Its always a great experience with amazing food.
The burgers were pretty bland, dry, and overcooked. The mac-n-cheese was so-so. You should probably just go to the Burger Stand or Blind Tiger, unless youre into arcade games.
Just a fantastic place all around! The Sunflower wrap is insanely delicious!
Absolutely love this place. Fun and environment to bring my family when they come visit.
Had to grab lunch in Topeka last minute and stumbled across this place. The food was terrific, my son loved the PBJ burger. Service was fast and friendly. They also have a bowling alley, arcade and bar. I would be a regular if I lived in the area.
Wonderful atmosphere and layout. Great food options. Easy place to go in for an appetizer and some games or a full meal. Great drink options. The retro arcade is fun and affordable and something you wont see anywhere else. Views of Downtown Topeka and historic aspect of it are great. You can park in parking garage and they will validate it. High quality servers. Also there is a bowling area and sun/porch beer garden. Two levels so never should be too long of a wait. It is on a level with big city places we travel to. So check it out.
Great atmosphere and the bar tender made my request easily!
This was by far the coolest place Ive visited in a long time. The bottom floor is a restaurant and it is incredible. Very modern and the perfect amount of class without feeling overdone. The second level is the bar/arcade. The is the place I spent most of my time. The upstairs is Harry Potter themed and even if you are not into that sort of thing you will still get a kick out of it. Their food was exceptional as well. Everything tasted fantastic and the portion size was spot-on. They even have a special drink and food menu that is focused around Harry Potter as well so be sure to ask for it.The thing I enjoyed the most about The Pennant was the arcade. They have a ton of the classic arcade and pinball games. Some examples are: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Double Dragon, Tetris, Frogger, and even the KISS pinball machine. A lot of places might have something similar to this but what made the Pennant stand out was the value of their tokens. I bought a $20 game card and found myself playing for at least 5 hours over the course of two days.If you are ever in Topeka you need to make this place a must-see. Kids and adults would enjoy it and you will not regret you decision.
What a GREAT Cool place! Food was so flavorful and so many different flavors to choose from very cool hip selections. Then they have AWESOME shakes too oh yah The bowling alley and arcade keeps you there to finish the shake or adult beverage. Highly Highly recommend for lunch, dinner, by yourself, or with family, we will definitely be back soon for sure!
Food is really good and lots of unique choices. I had the Mac and Cheese bites for a wonderful appetizer. The Pineapple Bliss chicken sandwich was good and very good sweet potatoes with marshmallow sauce on the side. Service was excellent for our group of 12. The arcade games were fun for some.
If you are going for a fun atmosphere, this is a great place to be. They were very mindful of keeping the historical integrity intact during the remodel. Do you want to have a conversation during dinner, go upstairs if someone is bowling. It is really hard to hear a person sitting across from at the table when bowling is going on. The Beer garden on the upper level is a good spot. The food? It is eeehh. My first time visit they couldnt get chicken wings right after two tries. My second visit I tried to keep it simple and ordered a basic burger - there was nothing special about it. Both times my companions plates were better than mine. One ordered a salad topped with salmon, not bad. The other ordered a black bean burger that was pretty yummy. All to say, you might have to explore the menu to determine what they actually do good. My last visit was on a late Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy. My first visit was on a week night. Both times the service was a bit slow. I probably wont rush back for the food. I can see going for drinks and video games!
The Pennant is a cool space with decent bar food. The atmosphere is fun, and there are some entertaining games to play. Where the Pennant really shines at the moment is in its Halloween decorations; they’ve gone all Harry Potter and its pretty amazing!
I was pleasantly surprised! The waitstaff was really friendly, the good was super, the fries, oh my so delicious! And then the shakes, thats when the inner child is released! And in addition to that, you can play Arcade games! Whats not to like?!
Its a great concept, and the service was pretty good, but the food is a bit over priced for what it is.
Went upstairs, great food, great bartender
This place is cool. Thats it. Great burgers, great shakes, great fries...Bowl or play in the arcade upstairs or sit at the bar and get wasted if thats your thing. Good for parties or a casual date before a movie, whatever. Topeka had been longing for this place. Inspiration for other business owners.
I have enjoyed eating at the Pennant from day one.First must say the food is good. I felt safe inside eating coming from a person who is a gun violence survivor.i had fun playing the games to...I moved closer to enjoy it more.
Very good food and neat atmosphere
Very fun place to eat!! The nachos needed more cheese, but were good tasting!! Service was good.
Yummy food and tons of it. A whole table could share an order of fries.Sweet potato fries were great with a marshmellow dipping sauce. Also tried the parmesan fries and they were good too.The Apple Pork Belly BBQ burger was good. Very large. Made totally with pork belly.Chocolate shake was rich and delicious.Game machine requires at least $5, games are 50 cents each to play. You have to purchase a game card in order to play. Our server was April, she was very nice and knowledgeable about the food. Even brought a sample of another sandwich for me to try.The price seems high if you try to compare it to fast food but the quality, unique variety and setting can not be compared!
It was an okay experience. The company I was with made it better.Service was slow. Our waitress already had a long day and definitely was not up to taking care of anyone. I feel for her. Perhaps staffing was not good that day either. It was my first time there. I loved the alcohol shakes but the atmosphere left something to be desired.Maybe next time we are in town things will be different but for now its meh outing. For service and atmosphere.
Had a great time. Food/service was excellent. My kids/grandkids had a fun time.
Fun place for adults and kids alike. Lots of vintage arcade games, particularly from the 80s and 90s, all in great shape and working well. And the price is good ($20 lasted my kids a long time!).The food was good too. Several unique options for burgers, but the shakes take it up a notch. The venue is varied enough that you could just eat a quality meal there or spend a few hours having fun.
Super fun place to get your game on in the vintage arcade. Also has a bowling alley and delicious food! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the menu is unique and offers a lot of options. Highly recommend, my son and I love it!
We went with a large party and the service was amazing! Friendly and helpful staff, kept drinks filled, maintained happy and energetic attitudes. The food was delicious! Portion sizes were more than enough! Very pleased with our visit; we will be back and will recommend The Pennant to others!
Great food and service! The arcade brought back so many memories! Will definitely be returning!
Excellent waitstaff, (a big shout out to April!) amazing food, and one of the nicest retro arcades I have played in! The shakes are made with locally sourced ingredients and are worth every penny. Plenty of seating and an expansive bar. They do have a kids menu and the waitstaff were incredibly kind to the kids in attendance. Fully recommending this restaurant for the food, bar, or arcade alone, or all three if thats what youre looking for!
Always yummy food and great service!
Been to the Pennant a handful of times since it’s been open. Like many others have said, the food has always been great. However, the service seems to always be slow regardless of how busy it is. The beer list also leaves something to be desired.
Great Food And Great Service.
The layout is really nice. The food is okay, you will have your favorites. there are fun activities there with bowling and fun arcade games upstairs. They are still fairly new and will have lots of improving to do in the months or even years to come. But all in all a fun place for the family, a group of friends or colleagues to hang out and enjoy.
Good food and fair prices
We had a large group of 13. The server was awesome and the accommodations were great for our afternoon get to gather we had for Christmas. We had an upstairs room with enough seating for the group. The cheese burger and cheesy fries I had were dry good. Definitely a great place to eat for one or group of people
Pretty nice restaurant. The bourbonator burger and jalapeno cream cheese fries were delicious. There were lots of other options of both to choose from that also looked really good.I visited on a Wednesday night and it was very busy and very loud.
Great ice cream shakes and very courteous staff. Clean and loved all of the arcade games. Reminded me of my junior high days of playing pac man and donkey kong for hours.
The food was good and the portions were big. The have a mini arcade in the bar. Very fun!
Bowled, celebrated a friends divorce!
Great service. CHVAS excellent server, food was very good, very good selection
The website for this placed tricked me. I was looking for a fun local bar while visiting Topeka and the website made it look like a fun bar with vintage decor. Do not be fooled, it’s a chain. Support local business like Oscar’s.
Went there for the $1 Budweiser beer! But was pleasantly surprised by a good restaurant! Look at how beautiful the nachos look! Oh yeah, the waitress too. very tasty!
A fun place to eat and play in Topeka. The food is good and reasonably priced offering a variety of dishes prepared different ways. Every member of your family or dining party will be able to find something to their liking. The Pennant also features a variety of games such as pinball, bowling, old school video games and more. This is a great place for after a game pouting, or a fun evening out.
Good place for a fun evening. Love the arcade games upstairs. A good place for a hangout. Food is good and the nachos plate could feed 4.
Good food. Old games but fun
I love their food!
Great service, great burger. The fries though! Buffalo blue cheese fries, excellent!
Food is good. Will be glad when bar side seating reopens.
This was my first visit. Overall, I think its a wonderful addition to Topeka. A bit noisy, and our waiter a bit too attentive, but a great atmosphere. The food was tasty; we had burgers, fries, and a chocolate shake (unplanned, but free, since it was my birthday, and very tasty!) We walked around and my husband played several pinball games after dinner. Next time I want to sit on the porch area upstairs overlooking Kansas Ave. and try a flat bread. :)
Awesome. Just awesome
Awesome food and customer service!
Their food and service is always good. Their atmosphere is good most of the time.
What a really cool place. Had the Southwest wrap and Fig viscous burger both with creamy jalapeno fries. Burger was cooked spectacularly and while Im not super picky I am a super huge fan of a perfectly cooked medium burger and this one was amazing. Flavor combos were fantastic. Sweet and savoury, something on the menu for everyone too. Great desserts, shakes, service was certainly top notch. Dont pass this place up.
I went to The Pennant with several coworkers and thought the restaurant was ok. I ordered a burger that tasted like it was a regular burger with spaghetti sauce poured over it. Surprisingly, it did not taste bad, but it was not excellent either. The service was ok but consisted of servers walking to the table calling out the names of the menu items rather than knowing what everyone ordered. This, mixed with messing up a few of our orders, resulted in three out of five stars.
Great food, service and atmosphere
I am only giving three stars because I like the selection of video games and the food is fair. The waitress wasnt IMPRESSIVE much at all. She kept playing with her hair and scratching her butt. I mean WTH. And the manager himself kept talking with the waitresses like they were at a hangout
My wife and I ate lunch during the day at the upstairs bar a while back, and the barkeeper was nice, and attentive. Overall, it was a good experience. Last night, however, was a completely different experience. Perhaps the 2 bartenders were disgruntled about having to work the holiday(?), but to me, that doesnt excuse poor service and complete inattentiveness. When you have 2 empty glasses in front of you, and have to holler at a barkeep who is otherwise only busy with wiping down the counter in tandem with the other barkeep, just in order to pay your ticket, something is seriously wrong.
Rating the restaurant only, there was a good variety of meals and the menu was not too offensive. I could not recommend the milkshakes though. Perhaps it is just my taste but both orders of milkshakes that came to my table offered no thickness.
Great food. Loved the Harry Potter theme upstairs. Being a nerd i was excited to see that. Tried the burger and fries with jalapeño spread. It was awesome.
Had a great time. Family friendly. Kind of pricey, but worth it. Cookies and Cream Milkshake was best. An loved the Harry Potter theme upstairs.
Love the Pennant! Always fun to play video games like the old days, and the food is always great too! Fun atmosphere with the pop up bars, and a nice variety of beer!
This place is fun for the whole family! Bowling, food, arcade; this place has it all. They also have amazing happy hour specials from 3-6 during the week. It was hard to get my kids out of this place.
Staff is so friendly and accommodating! Great spot for veg options. As well as nonveg. Tawanna as well as everyone we interacted with was super nice!
Great food, big arcade, fair prices, I really enjoyed it. Its good for families or finding alone or even dates.
I love love love the staff. Get the burger flight you cant go wrong. Their shakes are wonderful as well my wife loves them! Jalapeno cream cheese bacon fries 5/5
Visiting from out of town and looking for a local place with character. The Pennant fit the bill for character and the food was outstanding. Ordered the Bourbonator, MIghty Mushroom and Creamy Jalapeno Fries. Everything came out quickly and was delicious. Burgers were think and cooked exactly as ordered. Service was great also. Never had an empty glass. Came back the next day with the rest of the family and had the Cubano, Risky Rueben and Paremsan Fries. Same service and great food. Our waitress even remembered us.The building itself is amazing to look at with colorful spinials going up the sides of the outside corners, custom tiling with the name spelled out as well as Jenkins inside. Would like to hear the story on that. They have 4 lanes for bowling available downstairs and the game room upstairs. Stayed in the dining room though so cant report much on those areas. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area.
The Pennant is a very swanky place. Awesome atmosphere and the food is delicious.
Have only been here once but Id be willing to try it again. Drinks are a bit expensive. I didnt have any food on that visit. Customer service was good.
Proportions are generous, food was excellent, service was attentive, and the atmosphere is pretty interesting. Dinned in on a business lunch, could see the 4 bowling lanes providing a lot of unwanted noise to those just looking to dine in. Didnt get a look at the arcade either, but Im sure its a good source of entertainment as well.
What a cool place! They did a great job with the renovation. The restaurant is good with a 4-lane bowling alley next to it. Plus, theres a beer pavilion and 80s game arcade upstairs. Fun times and a gaming time warp.
The food was great, and you got big servings that are worth what you pay. You can actually tell they cook theyre food fresh. Really liked it.
Great restaurant and great idea behind the place!! Burgers are fantastic and the shakes are take-you-to heaven delicious. Has an arcade with a whole bunch of classic games from pac man to Street fighter you can play while you wait for your food!!! Definitely recommend stopping by if your in Topeka.
