Really friendly staff and good instruction. Went with a group of all time first timers and had fun... Taxi is the man!BYOB. You do not need to bring anything with you, there is a Buy-Right Liqours within walking distance. They will give you ice.Its a good thing to try out, not sure how long-term it will actually be but fun for now.

Went here with my family and had a great time! They teach you how to throw and are willing to help whenever you need it. It is harder than it looks but once you get the hang of it, its a blast! Highly reccomend his hidden gem!

We had our 3 year party here this past weekend and everything was awesome! A lot of us were new to the activity and both instructors were very helpful and attentive to our group! First time ax throwing and Im extremely glad to have done it with Down the Hatchet. Staff was friendly and patient and the ambience quite chilled. Love the BYOB/food aspect, making for a great place for a simple night out or party with friends.

Genie was very polite and Chris had patience teaching us throwing techniques. They were very accommodating for our fluctuating group size and super friendly. Safe atmosphere and they can teach anybody how to have fun.

I had a lot of fun playing games with my family, it’s like a whole different world. Our instructor chris, did a great job making sure we had a GREAT first experience. Very friendly and lots of fun!!

Not sure if hes the owner or not but the guy running the place 5/20 was super chill and even helped everyone out so we didnt waste our time not hitting any targets the whole time. Very much worth the money and locals get a discount! Amazing place, will be back!

It’s great that they accepted walk ins. The wife and I were looking for something else to do on our date night and we came across Down The Hatchet. We walked in, Alex got us a lane and showed us what to do, thank good because I’ve never thrown anything sharp in a controlled environment. Alex was even hanging out giving us pointers on how to throw better. Overall I would recommend everyone to stop in, especially couples for a date night. We will be back quite often!!

I had an absolute amazing experience here last night with my party of 13. The staff was great. The experience was great. They made us all have a great night for my birthday. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I will definitely be returning here ! And I definitely recommend this place to everyone and definitely for any type of celebration.

Very chill and laid back place! Unique and friendly atmosphere. Much more fun than going out to another loud and crowded bar. The owner was a cool guy and gave us some great tips when we started that helped us learn how to throw. I’ll definitely be back with more friends!

I have never done this before and it was so much fun! I highly recommend this for a two hours worth of fun. From the minute I was greeted by the very nice lady behind the counter to the personalized throwing lesson by my very personable coach, I knew I would be in for a great time. The best part is it is a BYOB! Definitely check it out!!

My first time hatchet throwing could not have gone better, thanks to the staff. They helped us find the nearest liquor store and showed us how to throw. On occasion he checked up on us ( just enough to be helpful without being annoying). Great price, wonderful experience, amazing staff! So glad w went. Thanks!

What a phenomenal experience, from the courtesy on the phone to the welcoming environment ..this place is the best in town . I came here with a Group of 4 adults, we stayed for about 2 hours, played Jenga brought our own pizza and drinks (the place provided a bucket of ice which was clutch ) The instructor was patientwhen telling us how to throw the hatchet and gave us our space but came by from time to time for some tips and to spray the wood, apparently it helps it swell and makes it easier . I cant wait to come back here !!! If your looking for a place down the hatchet Is one of a kind!!! The vibes are chill, quality atmosphere and staff . Was most definitely worth the 40 minute drive P.s. they give you sharpies at the end to draw on the tables and walls

We spent 2 hours here with a group of 8 and had a great time. They had a separate area with a table and a 3 throwing lanes just for our group. Alex helped us learn how to throw and stuck around to help us and answer any questions we had. He really went above and beyond what you would expect.

This place is top notch! I went to the other place in town and we were grouped with people we didnt know. It was awkward. I LOVED THAT WE HAD OUR OWN SPACE! Everyone had so much fun. Highly recommended!!!

Down the Hatchet was the best night out in Ocean County! The staff was super accommodating, having it be BYOB was such a convenience (especially having a liquor store in the plaza) and everything was so clean. My party had such a great time and we cannot wait to go back!

I had such an amazing time with my girls here! It is conveniently located in a plaza with a pizzeria, ice cream shop, JBJ Soul Food Kitchen and the liquor store (since it’s BYOB). You can grab food before or while you’re at the hatchet house and have a few drinks with friends all while having fun with your friends throwing hatchets! Idk why anyone would rate this business anything less than 5 stars! We never had any issues booking, being taught or playing! I hope everyone else enjoys Down The Hatchet as much as my friends and I have!

Absolutely amazing vibe and great workers. Took my boyfriend for his birthday yesterday as a surprise and I’ve never been there either and the workers were just fantastic, very patient with teaching us and being friendly and gave us ice for our cold drinks ( I forgot ice ) ! Music playlist was awesome ( Sublime, CAKE, S.O.A.D ect. ). I would go back in a heartbeat, absolutely loved loved loved it !!!!
