First Hibachi spot Ive been to with my family that took the time and effort knowing we had a toddler with us. The share of food for each plate was more than enough, taste was great, and most importantly - Tony, who was our chef - catered to our toddler. He made balloon animals and cut her veggies and meat up to small bite size portions for her. That alone made the experience great. However, Im adding a ton of pics from our experience as well! Enjoy and please visit!
“Beautiful place with quality food”FOOD is great. Chicken lettuce wraps are excellent, they have good flavor and good fresh quality. Fried rice was pretty good. The pineapple fried rice was not that good I’m my opinion it was loaded with turmeric but if you like turmeric a lot than this is a perfect dish for you.MENU is great and has lots of options. Asian fusion. Good with modifications.SERVICE is fantastic, they are great friendly people who have been in the business and been local for a very long time. They have good chefs with good recipes. The restaurant is beautiful great place to go with people. Plenty of regular seating for non hibachi. Very big if your looking for seating area that’s spaced out. Outdoor seating available.
Koi Hibachi was a great place for us to celebrate our 14 year old grandsons Birthday. They accommodated the 10 of us nicely and the food was enjoyable. Would definitely recommend a day with the family
Second time having food from here and its absolutely amazing ! Not salty like the other places. My first time was dine in with my kids 2 months ago and they loved it especially the balloons!.I had take out lunch today and it was hot and tasted amazing! Definitely come here !
Great food, service was wonderful and price was very fair. We went on a Tuesday afternoon so we took advantage of their hibachi lunch special.. can’t wait to do it again. Such a great experience.
Nice for them to offer hibachi these days. They take temperature and social distance at the tables. Food was good also.
The food was good but the menu is too weird and they dont have any real traditional Japanese dishes, I didnt really enjoy the overall experience
This is our go to place! The lunch specials are terrific. The food and service are great. Highly recommend.
One of the best eateries in Toms River. One of the cleanest and detailed bathrooms I have ever seen. Oh and they deliver.
Delicious food and Nicest staff. Love to watch them cook. So polite and so much food. Yummy
Nice staff and a good food experience. This was our first time, we came here for our daughters birthday. For $80 we were able to have 2 sushi rolls, dinner and dessert. They brought out a small box and sang happy birthday.Saki for the adults, same experience with water for the kids! They also have a nice setup on the side (see pics)
Excellent atmosphere, and amazing food!We took our 2 little girls (5 & 3), and they had a BLAST! Our chef, Ben, was fantastic, and very funny with the children at the table. He even made balloon animals for them after he was finished cooking! What a nice surprise! Our food was absolutely delicious. Another couple at the table ordered sushi, and it looked amazing - We will certainly try it next time we go.BONUS - they have about 1/3 of the restaurant on display as a museum area, and it was gorgeous! A lot of interesting information and history/culture to check out on top of a great dining experience. We look forward to our next visit!
Hibachi is really good. Their sushi is also delicious. Plenty of seating, fast service, friendly staff.
I give this place double thumbs up. Looking forward to returning with my coworkers. It has a cool interior.
Its so appetizing. The staff was very friendly and kind. The place has a great feel to it.
I order all shrimp tempura sushi and I was very disappointed. The texture and taste was off. It didnt taste fresh at all and I had a feeling that I was going to puke later and I did. A really bad stomach ache. It tasted like the ingredients were not fresh at all. I was forced to eat here because Ichiban is closed and they always have fresh sushi. Now I have no sushi to eat until they reopen! :(
I love going here. I look forward to going back again. The bill was well within reason for the quality.
Had Forever Love Roll & Bohemian Lobster Roll.
Great food. Everything was amazing.
Took the family here for dinner because it was new and we wanted to see if they were any different than all the other hibachi places in the area. Wow we were pleased. It was beautiful inside, well decorated and so clean. The staff was so friendly, courteous and attentive from the second we stepped in the door. Our chef was fun, kids absolutely loved him, I really liked the saki, the food was fresh and certainly the best we have had to date and the portions, wow, just wow. Go hungry or youll be taking home leftovers, we did.Prices were in line with everyone else but you get so much more food. This is our new favorite spot to go and we will go back for sure.Dont just take my word, go check it out, its definitely worth the time and you wont be sorry. When youre there, take a few minutes before you leave to check out the mini museum on the side. Totally cool and the kids really liked it too. They also have several party areas/rooms to host just about any size party or function. I actually plan on having our companys holiday party here now.
This Hibachi lacks flavor. The food was ok but definitely could use some flavor. Everything looked great. Just could use some more garlic and other seasoning. They have a small museum room with lots of Japanese items. Things like swords, pottery, anime toys, and more.
Couldnt sit inside obviously because of whats going on all over. The food was great and the service was fast. No complaints.
This was my first time ordering from them. I loved the chicken hibachi dinner, it’s just amazing! I ordered from doordash due to the COVID-19. The food was hot and fresh. The steamed vegetable dumplings are great as well. I can’t wait to be able to experience the real deal after the pandemic.
Service is always awesome even when they have a full house. There was fast and courteous service.
Just fantastic food, service, and large space for social distance
Beautiful ambiance. Great food. Fresh fish and sushi.
Warm sushi. Not talking about the rice the fish itself is warm, they need to turn the fridge up. Im actually considering calling health department because thats very dangerous. Stop being so cheap
Utterly Brilliant.Good value for money.Fresh healthy tasty ingredients.Loved it.
Koi Hibachi is one of my families top 3 favorite restaurants. The food (hibachi, regular menu and sushi) is out of this world. The restaurant itself is really beautiful and super clean. The service is tip notch and whenever we leave we are already talking about the next time we can go back.
Great place beautiful atmosphere and great little museum of some great Japanese historic items and information! We had a family birthday dinner their with the kids and they had a fun time for first hibachi experience!
I think they have some of the best sushi in the area. I try and order take out from them once a week.
First time here and was not disappointed at all, all three rolls I ordered were really good, I’d have to say best Sushi in the area..
I have never left a review for a restaurant but I just had to for Koi. My boyfriend and I just had the most amazing time here and are impressed. We have gone to many hibachi restaurants in the area and this by far has been the best one we have visited!! It was great from start to finish. The staff was welcoming and kind, the restaurant is so clean, the music was pleasant, and it has such a great atmosphere with beautiful decor! We ordered the chicken hibachi lunch specials and the food was fresh and delicious. The soup and salad were some of the best we have had from hibachi establishments. You can tell the food comes out freshly made and not heated up. After we were all done, our waitress transferred our food for us into our take-out boxes which was very nice. There is a beautiful little section of the restaurant with art, statues, clothing, and pictures of Japanese and Chinese culture. It was so cool and interesting. The whole experience was fantastic and we plan on coming here again and again. Thank you Koi!
Fantastic.Try the Godzilla Roll!!
My wife is Asian so we are always looking for Asian food/restaurants weve been to a lot of places all over NJ. This is by far hands down the most amazing Asian restaurant weve ever been to! The amount of details not only in the food, but the atmosphere is utterly astounding! I promise if you come here you wont be disappointed.
Amazingggg!!! N great pricing during lunch!!
Great food, great staff, great fun! Great atmosphere with a mini Asian museum thats unique. Affordable prices for everyone!
I got the Red Bull roll and the Green River! Absolutely amazing sushi Great portion sizes for the price !!
The food was delicious, my husband and I had the fillet and chicken hibachi. Always being back back half of it for another day. We also ordered steamed pork dumplings, the were soooooo good! The sauce was very good. They make beautiful sushi rolls. They also have many other dishes to choose from.
The restaurant is huge and very well done. Food was very good with large portions. They spent a lot of money on this restaurant and made it a reasonably priced high end establishment (Anyone who says otherwise is lying). The owner and staff are friendly people. Some guy tonight decided he was going to let everyone know how much he loved the restaurant. He shouted (and did it loudly): I love this place, I love this place, I love this place!!!! I want this place to be here for many years and want them to succeed. I love this place! Everyone in the restaurant preceded to cheer and clap. Obviously this restaurant makes people happy and thats what its all about. They brought a beautiful restaurant to Toms River and the deserve to succeed.
It was great! It had cool historical stuff and statues. And the food was delicious. The cook was kind and very funny.
Went here for hibachi tonight for Valentine’s Day dinner with my husband and two young children . The waitress was miserable right from the start. The hibachi cook came out and was very fun and nice, but the large flames started to scare my 4 year old a little bit so she backed her chair up. After a little while of cooking he started to do the tricks but gave no warning and started with my 4 year old first and tosses a large piece of onion at her forehead, she stood up startled because she wasn’t expecting it and he started spraying the liquid at her face and body even when I was saying that’s enough. I was very upset and it really ruined our experience. I will say the food was great but the service was terrible.
The food was great and everyone was nice!!
Had a blast what a enjoyable meal unbelievable staff amazing service . Our chef was named Jason very friendly and accommodating to our needs my wife is on a gluten free diet. The food was fresh and beautifully prepared. Our sever was very nice and professional enjoyed the whole experience. Would highly recommend this place anytime. So beautiful
Came here for a birthday lunch while visiting in town and the food was wonderful! It was during the week, and it was quiet and the service was very quick! Whenever I come back to visit again Ill definitely go back!
Tried it because it was a new place. It is beautiful inside. They were accommodating and patient while waiting for one other person. The hibachi was good. The one thing I appreciated about the cook was because we had a person who had weight loss surgery and didnt want to order hibachi to waste food. So she ordered an appetizer. The waitresses left the empty plate and the cook served her very small portions of what was left over which we all appreciated so she wouldnt feel left out. Wish there was a dinner for 2 option or a small portion option to accommodate people with the weight loss surgery....
Didn’t even get to try this place. I’ve been to the Koi in Brick and figured we would try this one for the Hibachi. My wife and I walked in at 10:15pm (they claim they’re open until 11) and were turned away told “we are closing” Who closes 45 minutes early on a Saturday night? They don’t want my business? fine I’ll take the trip to Brick and go to Ikko where they don’t turn us away.
Always good food here. This is the sister shop of Koi’s in brick town. The food at both places are very good but the route 9 location is larger and has teppanyaki hibachi. Also, it has a large waiting area that is modeled and spacious like a museum!
Tony was great. He made sure my Sister-in-laws 95 year old Mother was Happy. He cut the veggies and noodles up and cooked the veggies extra long for her. The food was excellent!
We were seated quickly and the food was delicious. We also enjoyed the little museum area afterwards. It seemed a little silly for a restaurant to have a little museum attached, but it was actually fun to look around for a bit before going home.
My family just had dinner here a few hours ago and were very pleased with our dinner. The atmosphere is unique, sort of like PF Chang’s. The hibachi food was delicious and best of all the servers and staff were very attentive and friendly. The owners were also there greeting everyone. I highly recommend Koi Hibachi and we will definitely be back !
Sushi and noodles were fine. However, the ramen was the worst I’ve had in my life. It was not even warm and had a pungent smell like an old folks home. This is the type of place that tries to make as much food as possible (like ramen) and always ends up sacrificing the quality of the food. When we complained about it the owner replied “it’s what we serve everyone and they seem to like it” Do yourself a favor and drive past this place. YUCK.
I had spicy pork to many green pepper in itAnd no hot in temperature so did not enjoy itGreat restaurant to meet with friends stick with hibachi not dinning in
Went for my birthday. The Staff was Wonderful!
WOW! This restaurant is new but a sister (bigger sister) to its restaurant in Bricktown, NJ. There is a beautiful mini museum filled with Japanese artifacts, clothing and samurai swords to visit before or after dinner. There are plenty of hibachi tables OR dining room where you can order hibachi or sushi if you want a little privacy. There are at least 3 separate large dining rooms and can accommodate many parties. Food was delicious and price was very reasonable. Enjoy the show!
I was impressed. Food was excellent and service was pretty quick considering the size and volume of the place. I was surprised that they didnt have beef teriyaki on the menu - but they do have it - just ask for it! Prices were reasonable as well. I think I have found my go-to place for Japanese (and they have Thai dishes as well).
Highly recommend. Friendly, clean, and the food is delicious. Great atmosphere too.
Excellent Asian food and beautiful ambiance. Check out their wonderful gallery of Japanese relics. Cant wait to go again.
If I could rate it higher I would, I cant praise it enough. Great food, great service, and great hospitality. And the prices are not bad at all.
Another mediocre restaurant. Looks nice, but the food was not so good. General TSO chicken had a strange taste. The homemade dumplings were too uniform and looked like the frozen ones you get at the Asian market. The sushi was mediocre and lacked flavor, and fell apart easily. I would not go back.
Is there actually a school for teppanyaki entertainment chefs? Because every place does the same routine. Still fun though, no matter how many times you’ve seen it. This place switches it up with an uber-carbo-load of both rice and noodles before heaping on the meat. Went with a group of families with teen and preteen kid athletes after 3 hours jumping in the nearby trampoline house, and still no one could finish their whole plate. There’s also a sushi bar which I didn’t try, but I’m going to recommend that you avoid on principle, and a mini Asian museum, which is kind of cool.
This is the best designed hibachi restaurant i have been to, probably because it has just opened though. I didnt see a bar though and no liquor license. Also has impressive chinese statues with horses and a chinese exhibit in another room. Food was typical hibachi level and chef was entertaining/friendly
Wow, what a truly impressive culinary experience. Exceptionally fresh and delicious, courteous, attentive and friendly staff. THANK YOU!!!
Love this new hibachi place! The staff is so friendly! Very clean and nicely decorated.. the food was fresh and delicious!
Weve heard so many good reviews about koi hibachi in toms River that me and my wife went there the other day. We were not disappointed. The customer service was outstanding the food was delicious and I would definitely recommend the sweet 16 roll if you like sushi. I will definitely be going back there again.
Super impressive across the board. On point with taste, presentation, decor of restaurant, amount of food give, menu choices, and pricing. Great place to go for Japanese food. I had the Phoenix duck with bok choy and white rice which was outrageously delicious I cant wait to go back and have it again. Food came out fast fresh and even my son tried there calamari and loved it and hes very picky. My husband loved his sashimi and everyone else loved there dishes as well. I was there for a 60th bday and with 21 people and they handled us very well. Great place
Surprisingly very good. I normally stay clear of places that do more than one type of cuisine, but they do a very good job with the mix of dishes we got. Excellent tom yum and drunken noodles.
Amazing sushi and hibachi. Lovely place and the food is served so elegantly.
Dont like the Kani salad or the ginger dressing otherwise the food was pretty good.
Excellent hibachi and service! The portions were huge. We cant wait to go again.
Great food and atmosphere. Awesome for large parties!
Awesome Shashimi and scallops very fresh. Jimmy at the Sushi bar was great!!!
Very nice place. I would recommend making reservations. I sat at the hibachi and the food was very good. Really enjoyed everything. Large serving.
Good show little pricey but its really good and fun for families
Absolutely amazing food, and the staff was so nice and helpful. Took my daughter and her boyfriend for their 2nd anniversary dinner they made it magical.
Great food and great service! Our hibachi chef Tony was funny and very entertaining.
Great food! Beautiful place and great service and presentation!
Great time & experience! Celebrated Grandsons birthday! He got special attention! Good food & plenty!
Excellent. Food was amazing, staff super friendly, food delivery quick, and atmosphere, just wow!
Very good food a little pricey but good and friendly service
Food was very fresh and delicious. Cooked perfectly from the hibachi. We sat at a table but ordered from hibachi menu. Will definitely go back with friends.
Very good food I recommend stopping in if you are in toms river.
Food fresh and really good and the waitress Lily very nice
Very authentic Japanese cuisine.. Extremely clean, Friendly, and Delicious . Hibachi is a must. Sushi is incredible.
This place is beautiful. The food is amazing!
Delicious! Great variety on the menu. Pleasant staff. A pleasure to visit.
Highly recommended takoyaki! Everything was hot and fresh to taste. Super quick service. Live this place
Edit: the discrepancies from the brick location seem to have been fixed. Neat.I’ll just flat out say it but this place has gone significantly down hill since its opening. The main draw of this place was that it was a closer koi than the one in brick. It looks nicer, food is presented a bit better, and it has hibachi even if you can’t get it at a table. Kind of dumb if you ask me.What it boils down to is the food. At first it was very similar to the stuff in brick. Maybe 90-95% flavor wise of what the brick location puts out. But as this place went on it started to change things for the worse. Sauces that would be served with certain dishes disappeared, significantly subtracting from the overall flavor while other dishes started to be seasoned differently, usually resulting in something that’s either too salty or bland.I’m not really sure what the problem is as koi is owned by a husband and wife who are a lovely couple (wife stayed to run the brick location while the husband is managing the Toms River one). But if you want solid food but don’t mind a hit to decor then skip this place and go to brick instead. I’m personally not coming coming here anymore and about a dozen of our friends that originally introduced us to koi are as skipping it as well and are heading back to brick.
This is my newest favorite, love the sushi. Excellent service.
First time at this place the sushi rolls were good as well as the miso soup and salad
The restaurant is nicely set up and the food is extremely tasty and the prices are very reasonable. Definitely recommend
Excellent dining area and hibachi. Sushi so fresh and delicious . Great service.
Great show good food. And great service.
Great place, nice decor, good food, friendly staff. I enjoy it every time.
Good appetizers & sushi. Also really nice menus.
Food was delicious
