As of December 2020, the place is almost empty. Interesting building. Dont go out of your way to visit.
I would like to especially acknowledge the staff for having such positive attitudes on a busy day. I know big crowds and impatient customers can be overwhelming, so I greatly appreciated their professionalism. Joshua, David, Gino and Jamir (I think there was one or two more staff members? Im sorry I didnt catch their names). Either way they all were super friendly and helpful, even with all the long lines and pushing people.
Incredible building, but the number of exhibits was a little bit of a let down, honestly. It may be partially due to coronavirus, but there wasn’t a lot there, compared to other university museums I’ve seen. But the structure itself is beautiful.
Friendly staff, some great exhibits and great price.
The architecture is amazing. All that concrete structure keeps it nice and cool and makes for really cool photo ops. The exhibits are stimulating and often have a social justice vibe. It is well worth the price of absolutely free so leave a donation next to the reception desk.
I put a star for every piece of artFriendly staff though...
Fantastic and diverse collection of contemporary art housed in striking Brutalist concrete architecture. The museum itself is a real masterpiece, its sharp geometric lines and forms softened by elements of Egyptian pyramids, human engagement with the different levels of galleries and sculpture courts, comfortable seating areas, and superb lighting both in galleries and the skillfully use of skylights and windows.
Only two of all the exhibits were open, maybe when all the rooms are open Ill change this.
Friendly staff, exhibit specialists are kind and insightful as well. The exhibits offer a diverse range of objects to adore and amuse over. Im very pleased with the selection that vary every few months! They are very thought-provoking. They say art is subjective, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and that art knows no boundaries. I would say that art is the calm recollection of passion. If you are on the Tempe ASU campus, or even on Mill Ave in downtown Tempe, stop on by if you have an hour or two to spare! Admission is free but donations are greatly appreciated.
Very nice facility. The exhibits were amazing and thought provoking. There is an interactive area that is great for all ages. A must see for everyone.
The ASU Art Museum is a dynamic museum which provides not only a permanent gallery and pottery collection, but ever-changing exhibits reflecting current artists, political events, reflections on past artists, etc. I make a point of coming to this museum multiple times a year and I see something new each time I go. The architecture of the building is as fascinating as the exhibits are. You will not be disappointed.
I Work here And I love it. Its Inspirational and beautiful Art everwhere.
Interesting art museum. Great building. Free to the public!
Great little museum thats worth a stop. Free parking in front, cool Antoine Predock building, excellent exhibits.
Beautiful architecture, a strange mix between a communist/dystopian vibe with a modern and inviting twist. Lots of angular lines made from concrete and steel. Really cool structure.Inside are a handful of large and open galleries, which rotate to feature a wide variety of exhibits. They even have community and kid-friendly events allowing folks to get crafty and engage. No outside water allowed, for you hydroflask toting folks out there. Just a heads up.
Nice way to enjoy art very easy to maneuver alone or with company.
Really quiet and calm, the art was a bit sparse but pretty interesting. Im sure it depends on the exhibit thats there. The outside area is nice and quiet, a good place to sit and study.
So much to see. Several hands-on exhibits also. Free admission.
Free and interesting. Not a super extensive collection but definitely worth your time. They have a huge collection of prints students can use for research too, so its a great resource if you need to see/use in person art for a class.
We took our daughter for a special art event and it was so great. You can tell they spent money and ok to share it. We made loads and spent hours there.
Get works and art and super nice people that know what they are talking about.
This was a thought-provoking and intensely engaging experience. The exhibits change out from time to time, so you get a different experience every few months.About 2 hours to view everything.Low traffic, good atmosphere, friendly staff. Highly recommend. Not geared towards kids.
An excellent place to view art.
The collection here was rather sparse, and what was there struggled to fit the definition of what I would call art. Art in my definition conveys beauty, purpose, meaning and hope. As is typical nowadays, this is a postmodern art museum where these values are lost. There is an interesting exhibit of Latin American art, and I found the Brazilian political cartoons and newspapers in Portuguese interesting. The theme was the hopelessness of the poverty in Haiti and in Rio de Janeiro, and the value conveyed was that of shock and anger, but no solution is presented.
Only took about 30 minutes to see mostly everything, however when I went several exhibits were closed. But it is free.
A bit too political for my taste.
Free access (a donation requested), and you can wander and enjoy all the modern/contemporary art.My absolute favorite time of year to come is the summer. Your car is going to fry in the sun in that little parking lot, but you instantly feel cooler as you walk down these stairs underground to the entrance. Youre surrounded by stone. and then stone and windows and friendly people mark the entrance.
Interesting. Free and free parking.
It is a small museum but it has its charm. The exhibits are always changing so thats why you can keep going every now and then... The staff is chatty and nice. I loved the place
A wonderful museum.
So much fun! I was not expecting to like it because I had to go in order to complete an assignment for class but I ended up loving it. I will definitely be back in the future!
This museum is beautiful. The layout is strange but it’s free!
They have a wonderful collection
Nice layout to the museum. Parking can be an issue. Staff was helpful. Good variety of exhibits.
Nice architecture!!! The building is a form of art by itself. Forms, shapes & shadows ....Now - no OKeeffe ;( Interesting modern installation by women artists though.
This is an amazing collection of Western/ Native American Art. It is tucked away in the most unexpected parking lot. IT is a hidden treasure, not busy or crowded and no entrance fee.
Wow...and FREE....
Great museum!!
Nice place
Very cool art museum
Call first. 2/5 exhibits closed.
