Only a few miles away from where I deer and turkey hunt.....would be nice to have the chance to shoot a BIG BULL ELK if one comes my way. Saw lots of deer while driving through and beautiful scenery!
Nice trails and drive through nature. The roads were rough in some places getting to the preserve with water running over in several spots. The roads on the preserve were good with a few rocky sections. The trail around Elk Island was submerged but we still had a good walk. It was very peaceful and we were the only ones around for miles. The deer were running everywhere on both sides of the road and every few hundred yards.
Very large preserve returning to native structure.
No elk today but still a nice drive. the pine bluff trail is very nice and a really esdy hike. the Savannah trail is underwhelming and not good for kids or the elderly. have seen both elk and pigs on the preserve in the past, as well as some nice bucks. the land management here really shines, especially when you compare it to the trash on the side of every other road in the county!
Be prepared for ticks. Beautiful place to get away from the people.
First time there didn t get to see much the office wasn t open to ask questions. Looked beautiful from what i could see. If i didn t have kids and had my walking shoes it would been neat. We wanted to go to the bathtubs watering hole didn t find it.
Beautiful time of year to go hiking. We saw many dear along the trail! We will definitely return to this treasure of a preserve so close to Tulsa! So much to explore, we only hiked one trail due to our late start.
Great place to go for a hike with the family
Great place to view nature! Be prepared take water and snacks no facilities available to public. Remember, preserve nature, carry-in & carry-out. Run by the Nature conservancy, a great organization.
The trails are just mowed grass 6 to 18 inches deep. I pulled a dozen ticks off my legs. The visitors center is closed on weekends. Pretty scenery though.
Beautiful view
Beautiful area that is instrumental to the reintroduction of elk to the Illinois river basin. Worth a visit. The observatory offers a perfect spot to look at the stars as there are no lights in view, other than the ranger cabin at the entrance.
Stunning views of nature. Highly recommend.
Beautiful area tons of wildlife
I found this preserve through The Nature Consevancy. Have enjoyed it several times. Have seen several elk including ‘Hollywood’. It is peaceful and relaxing to me.
So wild and secluded
Great place to get close to nature.
A great place to get away from everything
Great place for whole family. Great hiking, beautiful place!
Beautiful preserve! Reminds me why we joined the Nature Conservancy.
Love it
