Nice public park with walking and runnnng trails, a lake with public access, enclosed dog parks, picnic areas and free parking.

Nice park to run/walk Laps at. Also a great place to bring your pets. They have a fun play area and picnic area for your family and children. They even provide a nice wooded area for exploring and spending time with loved ones. I highly recommend checking this place out if you find the time. Totally worth it in my opinion. They also provide public restrooms. Oh I almost forgot! They also have a small lake (not big on swinging) but excellent for fishing!!!

Went shroom hunting at the cop shop. Oops! Hahaha. That could have been ugly. Nice park though. (Police Station shares the parking lot somewhat)

A nice park to do a quick walk around the lake. It was some what busy. But people were giving each other space and being friendly. It a hidden gem.

Im a veteran that was stationed at Ft Lewis back in 1985, and WOW, has this park changed! I used to take my oldest son to feed the ducks/geese while Momma went to doctor, pregnant with our daughter! Just love it!️

Nice dog park they have a large dog and small dog area .Wear your boots. There is also a great up hill trail out behind the two areas that is woodsy and great for dogs to run and have fun.Good exercise for you and dog.

Despite covid the park is open. I have brought two different grandchildren over the past two days. The walk around the lake is well maintained and perfect for children. The modest play equipment is in good shape and well utilized. It is open, clean and fellow residents respectful and happy to have a place to be. Highly recommend and kudos to Tacoma metro parks for allowing access

Great local spot. There are picnic areas, playgrounds, fishing spots and great walking and running trails everywhere around the lake.The off leash dog park is the best in the area, with three large sections. One for small dogs, one open area for all dogs thats great for throwing balls/frisbees and a wooded area for all dogs to go explore some trails.Wapato is a wonderful neighborhood park

Cool bridges, ducks, and turtles. Dont be deceived the trails go just about everywhere. Plus, bonus of dog parks and trails.

Great place if you want to see a bit of wildlife without going miles down a trail. With the total circumference being .95 of a mile could be a great location for a jog.

Great place to walk the dogs, they have an off leash dog park with a separate one for small dogs that are intimidated by the big dogs. Check it out you won’t be disappointed.

I walk with a friend almost every day. It is so beautiful and peaceful. Sometimes we take our four legged friends.

Great off leash park for your little buddy. The scenery is beautiful with its trees and wooded areas. Lots of privacy for a couple to hangout alone.

Wapato Park is great outdoor park with natural areas. Metro Parks Tacoma has done great work to provide a riparian buffer to the lake to clean up a lake that had been soiled with overpopulation of geese and run off. Theres plenty of peak access and amenities like picnic tables and and walking trails around the lake Theres even an off leash area in the north end. While I was there an Osprey was visiting.

Really great place even though people speak poorly about it it if beautiful and has great atmosphere.

Sad open to the Public but there are people impersonating security or impersonating authority without identification, nor a identification to show who they are. It was a large woman, with orange vest, older man with a yellow vest... impersonating not a public person passing. Wish I could have taken a picture, but they were starring hard at our children. Last time I go here. Wonder why these impersonating, want a be.....didnt stop the people who were not renting a pavilion, or table. Hate this place!

Great walk around the lake! Fairly open. Good for dogs, kids, walking or running. Easy. :)

Some good parking here. Really well maintained. Its my favorite place for the area. I highly recommend that people check it out.

Its more than just a loop around a beautiful lake. Its too bad so many people just know Wapato Park for that. But it has a dog park. It has wooded trails. It has picnic areas covered and uncovered. It has a big lawn and trees for napping under. It has blackberry bushes that produce huge, plump blackberries in massive quantities all summer. It has a weird, hidden, narrow, scary bridge along the north edge. It has a pergola thats great for pictures. Its easily one of the top five Metro Parks parks.

Love the scenery here. Its pretty beautiful to see ducks play.

Great dog park . love that theres 2 separate areas, one for small dogs only and the other for all dogs . the all dog area has 2 gated sections and the secondary section is in a wooded area with a trail . its very quiet despite being so close off a busy road ( 72nd / 74th ) .

Pretty park to walk or bike. Theres also a childs park area, and some covered areas. Some people fish here. We were told over a decade ago the water is unsafe to swim in. Kinda murky and standing for sure. There are 2 dog park areas here. 2 flat (one for big dogs one for smaller dogs) that are decent sized and always lots of dogs to hang with. My issue is the amt of dog poop left around. Its not well kept at all. U can actually smell doo walking up every time. The cool area above is actually open space trails that dog can roam free in. My dog enjoys this area alot. Prob is, its SUPER muddy anytime theres been rain.

I love this park because it has paths to walk, a cemented path that circles the lake, a playground for my daughter and a dog park. Great place to have a family gathering or picnic.

Wapato Park has improved greatly across the board. Awesome .8 mile running path, dog park and well maintained grounds. Super happy to see this for the community.

It a nice place with a lake and a small park for the young kids. Me and my 4 year old daughter also went exploring some of the trails around the park.

I love this park. Walking the trail dog park right next door a park for the kids to an open wooded area with a lake that you can fish at see lots of wildlife great for picture taking got lots of benched covered seats for birthday parties. Its got everything. Love it.

This is an excellent little park with a beautiful picnic area, childrens playground, and a walk that stretches all the way lake. Definitely recommend a visit!

Best park within miles. Tons of trails, off leash areas are huge for our dog. The kids had a blast and we got lots of exercise going around the Lake.

This park has improved over the years. The lake is pretty and its a great place to walk and bring your kids. I come here often.

Love the dog park. They are doing a lil clean up which is always nice. A few muddy spots so bring towels to wipe feet. Love the back 40 area.. Pick up your dogs poop people. Is the only complaint...

Nice to walk in daytime. With this pandemic though, seems like they have not been doing much upkeep. I was surprised how many people were there. Half wearing masks.

My favorite is the upper dog area. My dogs love to explore trails and meet other dogs

This park has improved and been cleaned up alot. Looks so much better than it used to. Probably because the police station is at the top of hill but either way I finally can come to this park with my son (Before I wouldnt even bring my son to the parking lot here cause it didnt feel safe, during the daytime). Theres even a beautiful park here we bring his puppy to come with and enjoy.

Great place for a nice stroll around, a good place to get a breath of fresh air, a place to clear your head and think. One of the better parks Ive been to here in Pierce County other than Swan Park.

Before this virus, a daily walk for healing. Now the parking lots continue to be closed, even though regular users are parking outside and using the lake under Phase 2. Us handicapped users who park in the handicapped spots are screwed, we can’t use it and we need to walk as much as the other guy. ADA says accessible to us.

Beautiful park and environment. I loved everything, the nature, water and a lot of flowers. There were a lot of families with their kids, what is awesome for me. Also its a very good to walk. Super recommend.

This park is really beautiful, some people may not know there are trails kind off to the back that are pretty cool long bridges etc. Also the dog park has trails area fot them, how cool is that.

Its a pretty muddy off-leash area but the walking paths are paved and very nice. The lake is cool too.

We took the kids to play. The park was clean. The kids had fun playing on the toys. People were friendly. It was a good day.

Feel lucky to live so near to this place. Perfect for a run around the lake or to get my dog to the big doggy park. I like some of the forested trails too. Just beware of mud and dont let your dog drink the standing water. $400 later I paid the price.

It is a nice park but it is in controlled airspace for flying drones. The system isnt ready for instant permission below 400. Hopefully soon it will pan out. I would love to get some video and pics over the lake.

There are unusual plants. Vanilla bean orchids, vining up a tree and out across BlackBerry bushes. You must look for the orange paint on the bridge next to dog park.

This park has come a long way since I was a kid. The walking paths are super interesting (especially some of the elevated paths over wetland areas) and the dog park is my favorite to go to. The dog park is big, appropriately busy for its size, and always a good time. Only thing to complain about is that parking could be better

This is a huge community park with a huge pond. Perfect for family meetings but you can bring your dog as well. Three decent sized dog parks are available.
