Went here for free covid test. Long line. Drive through. Health workers were nice and gave the kids stickers and licorice. Person with mental health issues ranting at corner.Nice looking park.
There is baseballn foot ball feild, basketball n tennis courts. there is also play ground with knee-high pool, which is FREE! only during summer, metro parks distribute FREE LUNCH for kids up to 18yo.the pool, it seems like for small kids since the depth is knee-high n shallow. but bunch of big kids occupy the space n play foot ball n not safe for small kids.
Not comfortable with all the homelessness in the parks parking lot and back perimeters of the fields, should have been able to feel more comfortable with my family
Just be careful of some of the rough people that hang out there
My son loved the twisty turny toy I was really upset though, when we first got there,my son comes running towards me with a sharp dinner knife that was left
Its an okay place to stop and get out of the hot car and cool off.
Super messy with lots of trash everywhere. Not sure if there are less people cleaning up the parks with covid or what because its never been this messy before.
Clean and well worth our tax dollars
Great fields. Lunch program for kids in summer. An important park for the east side!
Got our free lunches for 9 kids it was a blessing . thankyou
I go here to volunteer as the Metro Parks building is being used as a food bank warehouse. The parking lot is filled with drug activity and I would be quite apprehensive to bring children here.
An adorable little park.
Great place if ur looking for a spot to go and enjoy a little road trip
It was nice I took the family there for 4th of July.
Finely they put a outhouse there
Very nice neighborhood park, great place to watch rugby on the weekends and also for the dog to get its excercises in.
Clean, nice big yours for kids, nice bbq area and optional covered seating.. Lots of parking.. lots diff sports are played in the large field there.. swimming in summer days with noon free lunches served thanks to local metro parks, local churches do Easter egg hunts here..
Nice park for kids of all ages. There are baby swings and regular swings. Two different play structures, one is a bit smaller for toddlers. There’s a tennis court, a basketball court, and a huge field. I wish there was a sidewalk around the field for walking, but there is a gravel trail. There is also a covered area with benches and tables.
Kids love it
I miss seeing people playing sports and barbecuing.
Its fine quite small for a rugby pitch.
Love it everytime I go there
Right now not a place to take the kids no swings
Because the people are awesome good community makes any place great.
Portland avenue Park its a real nice but if you dont live in that area stay away its very dangerous!
Play area is decent but the stench down there and all the homeless/druggies down there just puts a damper on a nice place. Trash everywhere!! Not somewhere Id recommend taking your kids or pups to run around needles ever there totally not safe.
Its fun for the kids
This is a nice play e but the Homeless mean to enjoy it one nust be armed . The Homeless are very dangerous now
Love this park grew up around this park since a little kid
Only drawback is the parking is a little too far for me
Good security
Fun in the sun
Kool
The park is pretty, at first glance, but in a sketchy area where the bathrooms are permanently closed due to vandalism. The structures are awesome and there are grill pits. Just make sure you are in a larger group
They take good care of this park in the summer months they hv a wading pool
Despite the nearby troubles, this park is usually kept clean, and its a fun place to run around and play with the nieces and pups. :-)
Pretty
Homeless and drugs wandering park
Its a well used park, at the time of my visit parking was not particularly easy.
Well taken care of and a wading pool for the kids how cool.
Portland Avenue Park is a wide open childrens soccer practice, basketball courts, and toddlers playground toys, all in one. There are covered picnic tables and even a wading pool for the summertime, and yes, the restrooms are unisex. You can even rent the ballroom for your special events.
14 acre park with two large fields for foot ball, rugby, etc. The park has a local community building that hosts events and classes. Finally, the park is equipped with two tennis courts, athletic building, wading pool, and playground area, as well as a 1/2 mile track, making it a perfect park for family outings, sports, or other recreational activities.
Its beautiful great place to take the family
Not much of a playground for children, but good skate area
Nice quiet and clean park not a whole lot going on great to take a date if you want privacy.
The bathrooms are rarely open and junkies are always around. I love the sports that take place here, but they dont seem to treat the teams well even though the teams are the only reason that so many community members visit this park. Nice playground.
Relaxing
Love the wading pool for the kiddos. Just shallow enough for the tots and deep enough for the big kids. Plus the Metro staff ate awesome always doing different activities with the kids. My girls really dig the hockey!!
Nice park, lots of homeless in the parking lot
It was peaceful and had not alot of people
Great open park for kids to play in grassy areas or playground. My boys can practice there game with their friends and cousins. Plus Portland Ave park has been there since I was a little girl. Just wouldnt be the same without the park
Good place to walk with your girl
Love this park. Have grown up seeing this park all my life and now I bring my kids here. Great park. Lots of space.
Its a great place for my grandkids to play
Simple, buy effective. Green, grassy space, with a playground and basketball court.
Was a nice place to sit and enjoy breakfast while watching cars and birds fly by but since it was before 9 and activity center wasnt open yet, had to leave to find a restroom, otherwise would have definitely been 5 stars
This park is the . Love it there. Can play ball while the girl and kids play at the park. Its a beautiful place. I have been going there since I was younger. Always loved it.
Huge field perfect for walking doggo
Quite a chill spot, family, single and couples oriented. Along with true bike/walking trails with baseball; soccer fields.
Big space. Nice people ..
Nice. Good food. Nice size dance floor..
Fun place for kids to play big open area to play football, baseball, soccer. Patio area with single picnic table.
Skeptically at first, I attended sewing classes at the community center. What followed was a completely wonderful human experience. The instructors made my girlfriend and I feel extremely welcome, gave fantastic instruction, and answered all of our questions. In addition to passing on their knowledge and helping us develop new life skills, both the teachers and the other sudents have become a truly a caring community for our little family (we have newborn twin girls). Our family is so greatful to everyone there and it is our most sincere hope that others can share in and enjoy the same.
Its not over rated
This Park is so huge. The fields are so nice, great for sports. Wish the playground equipment wasnt so dated looking. Has a basketball court but, one of the back boards is missing.Update: After bringing it up at a board meeting the backboard is replaced and we have one tennis court net. However, bathrooms are now always locked...the sign says closed due to vandalism.
I like the park and they have soccer field with bleachers which is cool
I love the trees
It was very terrible because I saw them kick out a homeless man that just wanted to wash his face it made me cry its not very nice the way that lady acted
Well good place to cool down and know one bothers anyone .love to put my feet in pool.and park car in shade.
Good
Located next to the road. A lot of parking. There is a community center, playground that still looks decent a lot of room for a party.
Great place except for all the junkies
I was there for the 4th of July and it was an amazing experience. Folks can say what they want about the Eastside but the park has been one of the best places to congregate in Tacoma. Also its REALLY clean compared to other parks, especially due to its location and the amount of activities that take place there
Large open area with football posts, double basketball court, kids play, picnic area, restrooms and community center
Was there for a family get together, so my kids could meet their Aunt and Uncle from Florida.
Attended a training here and the facility was very well suited to our group needs.
Large play area and wading pool
Its nice
Nice park
Family and community fun with nice facilities for gatherings, there are sports & childrens play areas that are well kept! Real nice & safe cardio walking path around inside perimeter of park as well.
It was relaxing
Great park!
Huge homeless camp behind the park.
Seems to be a good stop for young and seniors alike
Good park
Perfect for rc cars
Great big conference or reception. Lots of parking lots
Nice grassy space
Good park for soccer, football and rugby. Wide open fields.
Big open park with soccer fields and some covered areas for grilling. Nicely manicured and has a community center.
All of my check a great time when we go play at this park. And my husband grew up playing at this park.
Awesome park no one there but a few
Its settled down and looking great. Many new upgrades.
Nice play area for young kids, covered picknick & bbq area, basketball court, wheelchare access & parking, walk path around the park, grass area for sitting in sun, public restroom, park is fenced all the way around for childrens safety.
If this is the park I went to on Saturday it had no bathrooms and to many local homeless people so sad
Nice park, large fields for soccer, football, rugby and baseball. There is a community center in site and well as a playground
U can learning to sew every Thursday there 4 free
Great place for outside parties and a wadding pool
It is a nice park with outdoor soccer events. Park is well-lighted at night .
