Expensive and Short: Was excited to take my son to see Charlie Browns Christmas puppet show. We drove about 45 minutes to see a show that was 28 minutes long and cost 45 dollars for three people (including a 4-year old). The idea of having teens involved in the puppet show and the arts is great. Just dont charge so much for such a short show. I can bring my family to a 2 hour movie with popcorn for the same price.
Open Hand is a fantastic home for young people. Its been a lifeline for my children from childhood to young adulthood. For any child, the programs will help you develop your creativity, imagination and confidence in an environment that is very nurturing and accepting.
Puppets live in this castle, coming to life in the hands of their creative puppet makers. The monthly Saturday shows are great for the younger kids, while the weekly programs for youth 7 and up are truly wonderful. And the summer Circus Camp is stunning!
A small theater, but the acting was excellent, and the hosts gracious. Its a pretty neat old building too.
Open Hand Theater is a gem in the CNY arts community. OHT celebrates the human experience through theater, mask and puppet traditions from around the world. Circus camp, festival puppets, programs for adults, for kids, and school performances are just a few of the unique offerings - and dont forget the Museum of International Masks and Puppets!
Great show and great people!
My daughter absolutely loves Circus Camp and Hand in Hand. Circus Camp is a most do!
