This information centre is super educational and informative. They have staff who are knowledgeable and experts in the regions. The Creole Nature Trail is a huge space and have a number of routes on a road trip, so some planning would be suggested to plan ahead and to see what type of sightseeing spots and activities to do before heading out. These wonderful staff will be helpful in giving you suggestions on your road trip.At the centre, there are a bunch of fun, interactive activation for kids and family to interact with. There are music instruments that are being played by local people in the region. You can play some of them and learn more about the sound each instrument exerts. There are some unique local foods and commonly used names/slangs that you can learn how to properly pronounced. For example, Boudin, which is a famous rice sausage. You can also try on the hunting gear and pose as Duck Dynasty. You can try your luck learning how to use a chicken leg (fake) to catch crabs. Once you get a few tries at the centre, its time you go on a roadtrip to catch some real crabs.
A great stop! We came here looking for ideas on what to do outdoors during our visit. The staff was so so helpful- advising us on which trails to take, which touring companies to use, and walked us through maps on how to get to each. A great stop for direction on what to do!!
Definitely worth a stop if “Will” is there. Perhaps everyone has the passion and knowledge that he has for these wetlands! He’s very knowledgeable and passionate to share what he knows. He interacted with young (and not so young) while we were there and made the stop a joy!
Cool place to bring kids
Neat little stop for this kiddos. Our 3 loved all the hands on stuff.Staff are super friendly and very informative for this out of town family during our travels.Told us how to get down to all the walking trails and the beach. Let us know there is so much more on the creole nature trail if we were to have an overnight stay in town. The little gift shop they have has some cute goodies, and were very reasonable for this mom of 3. Big plus!!
It was closed on 5 July and the maps showed it open :/
Great place to stop! The staff gave me great tips on local things to do.
This place is absolutely amazing! The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable and the center its self if full of GREAT information. Very clean!
The inside and outside of the visitor center is amazing. The location makes it hard to find. The name is very misleading it is not a trail but rather a 40+ mile driving route. Will the information guy was informative but refused to stop talking to us. I was walking toward the bathroom door about a foot away and he is still talking about information I dont need. Had the title not been misleading I wouldnt have stopped bc I did not have time for a 40+ mile detour and I just wanted a hike to stretch my legs. Well we go to leave and Will insist on giving us these driving directions. He is taking forever explaining while Im starting at the map so I can clearly see the route and so we turn around and walk out after many social ques and flat out telling him we dont have time. It was wayyyy more of a hassle than Id go through. The town and route look cool but to much chatty!
Nice for kids
