This is an amazing place. I have met so many amazing people at starstruck, without starstruck I would not be the person I am today. I have grown up with anxiety and starstruck completely changed that, starstruck is a safe environment for all kids and teens and Im so glad to have found starstruck.

This is my favorite place to be honestly. I was a student at one point and now I work with them constantly for different shows and events. Every time I work with the team at starstruck I always have a good time and only see positive energy from everyone there. I also have never seem bigger smiles the the children walking through the halls! This is an amazing place and if you ever have the opportunity for you or your kids to experience it I would highly recommend it!!!

Starstruck Performing Arts Center has a history of using blackface for shows like Hair and Once on this Island. Not to mention they made young white children sings songs with lyrics like: the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice. Perhaps it would be in the companys best interest to stop using white people in place of black characters. There are plenty of available shows to choose from but it seems that the director is either careless or ignorant. She looked at a young teenager and consented to the idea of him smearing dark paint over his face along with stuffing an afro wig on his scalp. Really? The worst part about this is that this incident (blackface) recently blew up on Instagram, and the only people apologizing for this mishap are the KIDS who were involved in the production. These kids are now adults as this production occurred several years back, but I found the directors inability to remain accountable disgusting. Letting children take the heat for a fire she started? Wow. I have heard from several children who used to attend (and still attend) that the staff gossips around children about other children, verbally abuses children to the point where they come home sobbing and feeling unworthy, and steals opportunities right out from under the very kids they vow to help. I should probably go into the ridiculous and unfair prices ($1,000 per child for a summer show?), but Ill save that for another time. Perhaps their unfair prices are the reason rich, white children are the only ones able to attend? Youd think a performing arts center would be more diverse, but its obvious the director only cares about one thing $$$.

My son has a good friend that attends here currently so I decided to ask how it was as my son showed interest in attending but his friend does not seem happy with it and claims the teachers are very careless and uninterested in the work and the stage manager who gets upset when asked for things and talks about smoking marijuana with the owners of this place and drinking to a access with them but also complaining about them . He has overheard the staff gossiping about others students and performers . I do not think that a place for children where adults set a example should be like this especially when talking about drinking and doing substances with staff and owners. There is time and place for everything .
