We really enjoyed our visit. The building is beautiful.
I loved it. It was very interesting to see and hear about the history of the town & the surrounding area.
I was the only visitor on a gray Friday afternoon, but that meant I received special attention from the sole museum worker who led me on a guided tour and cheerfully answered all my questions to the best of their ability. I particularly liked hearing about Wessyngton Plantation and how the ancestor of some of the Washington slaves, John F. Baker, had been able to put together a comprehensive geneaology of slaves from the area based on records now kept in the State Archives. The displays are lovingly homemade by the Historical Society, making them rather quaint and charming in a world being consumed by technology. This was the best use of $4 (cash only) and an hour of my time.
Very informative caretaker. Learned a lot. Going back again.
Inquired about a Saturday visit and was delighted to get to meet with Charlotte and really dive into some local history. Such a great experience.
Great place to visit - interesting displays on local history including farming, tobacco, distilleries and the plantation Wessyngton
